As I survey the chaos, taking in the lack of raw humanity
It's as if the entire world's fallen in love with their insanity
Hear the innocent voices scream
As their tormentors laugh through all of it
No forgiveness for all I've seen
A degradation I cannot forget

So sleep soundly in your beds tonight
For judgement falls upon you at first light

I'm the hand of God
I'm the dark messiah
I'm the vengeful one
(Look inside and see what you're becoming)
In the blackest moments of a dying world
What have you become
(Look inside and see what you're becoming)

As the violence surges
And the teeming masses have been terrorized
Their human predators... all gone mad
Are reaping profits born from their demise
The rabid media plays their role
Stoking the flames of war to no surprise
Only too eager to sell their souls
For the apocalypse must be televised

So sleep soundly in your beds tonight
For judgement falls upon you at first light

(Some indeterminate time in the past)

The scene slowly fades in from black, as muted chords from "Captain Howdy" by Twisted Sister, can be heard. We find ourselves once again looking on at the padded cell, in what we can only assume is Arc Ana Asylum. Color has once again been mostly drained from our view, indicating to us that this is a time gone by, a view of the past. Sitting in the back of the room, dressed entirely in white, is the man we will someday come to know as Captain Howdy, but currently only known by the name James Jacobs. He is sitting cross-legged, looking up toward an older man in a long, white coat, holding a clipboard. The music quiets down, and we can hear the conversation, apparently now in its later stages.

DOCTOR: Well, James, it seems you're on the right track. The nightmares you mentioned before have gone away?

JJ: Well, I wouldn't say that they've gone away. More that they just don't bother me anymore. It's funny what actually listening to them was able to solve.

DR: I see. So, what were they saying to you, James?

JJ: Oh Doctor Grant, you really don't want to know that. Let's just say that when the Devil whispers in your ear, you should pay him the courtesy of listening, even if you don't like what he has to say.

DG: Hmmm...perhaps I need to raise that medication we had you on for the nightmares. It might help...

JJ: No, that won't be necessary, Doctor Grant. As I said, the dreams aren't a problem anymore. Besides, you know as well as anyone that my contract that I signed when I came in here says I can leave whenever I like. Sort of like what you're doing. Congratulations are in order, I understand, on your retirement.

DG: Thank you...did I discuss that with you? I was sure I had decided to wait.

JJ: You didn't, but let's just say a little birdie told me. I think that's a good thing. You've certainly earned it.

DG: Well, thank you, James. I appreciate you saying that.

JJ: No problem. You've been good to me, better than some anyway. Tell me though, Doctor Grant, now that you're going to be home all the time, how are you going to continue to diddle Nurse Alvarez? I mean, she really likes you, even though you're old enough to be her father.

DG: Wha...I...

JJ: And then there's Nurse Thompson. She's a cute little thing, isn't she? Somehow I think she'd be more willing to accommodate you. After all, she does live alone.

DG: James, you've never even met Nurse Thompson, or Nurse Alvarez for that matter. How...

JJ: Another little birdie. The devil on my shoulder, so to speak. Oh, don't worry. Your secret is safe with me. After all, I know what it is like to lose the love of your life to what could just be idle talk, and potentially false accusations. Your wife wouldn't much want to hear about the three affairs you've had since you've been here, would she?

DG: That...you...James, this is...

At this point, when we look back at the man who will become Captain Howdy, we notice his eyes glowing a dull red, just pinpoints at first, but it soon grows to encompass both orbs, and even we, through the curtain of time, get a chill from the look.

JJ: As I said, Doctor. Your secret is safe with me. Now, why don't you go to your retirement party. It's been a pleasure working with you, and I wish you and your lovely Irene well in your retirement years.

The doctor stammers a bit more, then his arms go to his sides, and he heads out of the room. Howdy snickers, as the door closes, and the scene starts to fade out. Just before we lose sight of him completely though, we hear his voice whisper:

JJ: That was fun...

Now, we come back to the present, and the full music and vocals of "Captain Howdy" can now be heard. We find ourselves back in his living room, now cleared of both Christmas tree and decorations. A few toys are scattered around the floor of the room, testament to the presence of a toddler. The fireplace blazes and crackles, having apparently just been fed. A pile of recently split wood sits in a bin off to the side, and the glow of the fireplace lights up the room. The man himself, now seen as we know him, is seated on the leather couch. He is leaning back, with his arms over the back of the chair, a small smile on his face. As we follow his gaze, we see the form of George, the battered, beer-holding teddy bear, reclining on the loveseat on the other side of the room. The music fades, and the conversation begins.

GEORGE: ...! ... ....'. . ....

CH: Indeed it is. And, I've got enough wood cut to last for a while, thankfully. Not my favorite chore, but it still needed to be done.

G: ... ... ......?

CH: Going well. Jimmy had a really good Christmas, as did Amanda and Tom. Nadia and I had quite a good time as well. What about you? Meet any interesting Barbies at New Year's?

G: .... ..., ... ... ... . ...... .....

CH: Well yes, I hear they have started using a different plastic these days. It's good to see you again, my friend. It's been too long.

G: . .... ..... ..... .... ... .. ......... ..... ... ...... ... . .....

CH: I saw. Funny, Jason hasn't contacted me since I came back here. I wonder what's going on there.

G: ... .... ... ..'. ... .... ....... ..... ... ..... ..

CH: Yes, Slade, I know. Funny how that works, isn't it? I mean, he and I haven't talked, haven't clashed, haven't even really been around each other that much since Redemption reopened. We see each other in catering once in a while, but so far it's been cordial and civil, if not friendly.

G: ... ... ... ........ ... ......?

CH: I'm not sure, but I have a hunch. In fact...

The Captain turns fully to the camera, a smile on his face...a real smile for once. He waves at the camera, then puts his arm back behind the couch.

CH: Hello, Slade! How long has it been now that we've known each other? Funny that the long road we've been on has brought us back together in this place, isn't it? Just can't get away from each other. I remember our battles, back in the day. I'm betting that pickup never drove the same way again. What fights they were!! We had good reason for those matches, didn't we? A Title on the line, a little bit of anger, a touch of hatred. You were quite the competitor then. Still are now, from what I see. I have to admit, I have some respect for you, Slade. You just won't go away. You still stand in, and fight the battles against those who are coming up and supposed to be the next big attraction. We're a lot the same that way, aren't we? Two old gladiators, old battlers, knowing that age and treachery beats youth and enthusiasm most of the time. A match between us deserves to be somewhere better than the second one on a Pay Per View. It's like we're both afterthoughts. We're just being thrown in, sort of as a favor to us. I don't know about you, but that makes me angry. And, I can only think of one reason for it.

Sinclair.

Sinclair is just another stuffed shirt in an industry full of them. He knows he can't face me down himself. He doesn't have the brains to know that he's the one in the wrong, and everything I've been doing is his fault. So putting me in this match is his way of punishing me indirectly. And your part in this? Well, he's either mad at you for some reason as well, or, you and he have already talked, and he's giving you some incentive to come after me. Using you as his weapon because he can't admit he was wrong. Hell, he might be doing that and never spoke it to you in the first place. Just put you in the match with me.

Whatever the truth of it is, I do want you to know, Slade, that what is coming is nothing personal. If Sinclair won't man up, and do the right thing, then I have to keep sending him messages until he can no longer ignore them. And, the bigger the opponent I take down, the bigger the message. You get to be my medium this time, Slade, and to be honest, I should apologize for that. I was perfectly happy to let you stay as far away from me as you chose. I was content with our occasional nod of acknowledgement being our only communication. Now, I have to do this. I have to break the unbreakable. I have to hurt you, Slade, and badly, so that Sinclair has one more wrestler, one more person, that will go on his conscience.

Now, don't get me wrong. I know you're not going to be an easy opponent. Far from it. But, I'm still a bit upset about losing three straight matches. I'm even madder about Sinclair being such an idiot. And then, I'm just who I am. I don't go easy on opponents. You know this. You're the same way. I expect a war, Slade. I expect that you and I are going to go out there, in a match that was likely set up to humble one or both of us, and we're going to tear the roof off the building. Possibly literally, knowing where some of our previous matches have ended up. But, in the end, the outcome will not be in your favor.

I'm going to hurt you Slade, as much as I don't really have any true desire to. I have a duty, you see, to continue to be the Most Dangerous Man in Redemption. I have a message to send, several in fact. One to Sinclair, one to Destiny, and yes, one to Dante. I seem to have become something of a joke to people around here until very recently. Two crippled wrestlers later, and nobody is laughing anymore. When I add your name to that list, Slade, people will take notice. They will start to fear me again, as they already should. So understand when I tell you, I am going to go after you in this match with everything I have. I am going to beat you, with Extreme Prejudice, and I am going to remind you that you're not to big to get a reminder of what happens when I decide that, for you...

PLAYTIME'S OVER!!!!

Sinclair, his fate is on your head. His blood is on your hands. How do you sleep at night, man? How do you justify holding your position as I break people around you? Soon it will be too late, you'll have lost your chance to fix this. Watch and see, Sinclair. Watch what could be your fate, sometime soon.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAHAAAA!!!!

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!

The Captain continues to laugh maniacally, as his music comes back on. He throws his head back, as it goes on. The camera catches a sound to the side, and turns to see fresh mist coming up out of George's beer can, as if he had just opened a new one. The laughter stops, and the camera swings back, as Howdy's head comes forward, the intense glare in his eyes, the shark's grin on his face, sending shivers up and down our spines, as that image is the last we see here before the scene slowly fades to black.
