The Vikings had some explorations up in the north. Should they be called explorations? I don't know.
Anyway they made it as far as, what, Newfoundland? Say they had decided to explore further. That they had thought to colonize the rest of the Americas. Then there would have been a global European presence around 1000. Assuming a slower rate of colonization than more modern Europeans would make, settlement to the opposite shore would be complete in time for the Black Death to get really ugly.
There would be a medieval America. I expect Native Americans would be less totally subjugated because the technological level of the settlers is closer to theirs than it was in our history.
