Date: August 8th, 2013 Place: Manhatten Subway Station Characters: Ryan, any Plot: Ryan telekinesis is coming along, but he is struggling a bit with his telepathy. He has attempted to find somewhere a little quieter to get a grip, perhaps even catching a little shut eye while he's on. Who knew a little telekinesis could be so exhausting!
Manhatten was a very busy place, a fact that Ryan had come to learn very quickly. Throngs of people gathered to carry out their usual day to day tasks, making it a very difficult place to get around. Or to be alone in. As beneficial as blending into the crowd was for his situation, it quickly got too much and so he had sought shelter down in the subway station. He'd found a relatively quiet part to hang sit down and catch a breather as he tried to block out the sounds of that were quite frankly on the brink of driving him crazy! Why do people have to think so loud?, he asked himself in frustration as he tried to brush away the thoughts that were constantly invading his inner consciousness. That was the part that was bothering him anyway, the fact that he could not just hear others talking and other day to day things, actually he pretty good with noise in general, but the fact that there were so many voices in his head at once was becoming rather difficult to deal with. Once over, he'd thought that a course of meds would sort things out, that he would just need a few pills and he would be back to normal. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be as he had since figured out that he was actually hearing other peoples thoughts. Soon after, he had discovered that he could move things with his mind and even teleport! That was how he had gotten to the states anyway, but he hadn't been able to get again. He'd only tried a few times before realising the danger that his return would bring and had stopped trying. He didn't know what he had become, but at least with a little bit of practice he had put it to good use.
Earlier that day, he had prevented a robbery by using his power to push a sign of some description in the path of a would be bag snatcher. He had then flung the bag from his hand, causing the surprised but uninjured man to run for it empty handed. It had been extremely gratifying, if not fun to do so, but even such a simple feat had left him feeling exhausted. Perhaps that was why he was finding it so difficult to cope with things right now. Yeah, good one Ryan, but it was worth it. I think..., he thought as he trailed off and allowed himself to slide down the wall he had been leaning on, landing in a seated position and pulling his knees to his chest. At least it was quiet, down here, for now, quiet enough to maybe even grab some shut eye. He really needed it, but what if those suits came back? Just a risk I'll have to take...
Waking up not too long later, it sounded as if a train had just come in. He felt a little better in himself, but he knew he had a matter of moments before his telepathy kicked in again. Really need to get the hang of this, but how?, he wondered as the rumbling and screeching got louder. Perhaps there were others like him that would be willing to teach him. Others not like the ones in suits...

Nina parked her car outside the subway station, sliding off her seat and locking her car. Time for a little peace and quiet she thought to herself as she made her way into the subway station, trains coming and going, people walking passed each other, never stopping to wonder who or what the other was. Licking her lips, Nina pulled a strand of her hair behind her ear as she walked down the stairs. She had spent a long time overground and the tomorrow people had probably noticed her absence and, if they hadn't, they would soon.
Nina froze in place as someone's thoughts stood out, frowning slightly, she tilted her head to the side to pay attention to them. Why do people have to think so loud? Could it be that whoever it was, was a homo superior? Concentrating, Nina closed her eyes and frowned slightly, getting inside the person's mind to find out more about him. His name was Ryan, he had teleported into america, he was a break-out and not in control of his powers. Smiling slightly, Nina looked around but couldn't find him, so she decided to contact him in a different way, telepathy. "Ryan?" Still looking around, Nina continued. "My name is Nina. I'm just like you and I can help you. Can you tell me where you are so we can talk?" Her thoughts wandered to Ultra, they were probably after him the same way they were after her when she was a break-out. "Don't worry, I don't work for Ultra, I won't hurt you." She reassured him. "I can help you. Where are you?"

As if one cue, another voice entered his mind, one that seemed to stand out above the others. There weren't that many right now, so picking it out wasn't all that difficult, and he glanced around the area as he attempted to figure out just who was speaking to him. There's no one here, he quickly realised, while also wondering if they were actually on the incoming train. It was entirely possible, but they could also be above ground. Instinctively he turned his attention to the stairs leading up. Wait, how does she know my name? Of course, if she's like me then she can hear my thoughts , he asked himself as he also answered his question in pretty much the same sentence. Could he really trust her though? One way to find out, he supposed as he closed his eyes and attempted to concentrate. If she could do it, then there was no reason he couldn't answer back.
"Hello?", he called out in an attempt to establish further communication. "Can you hear me? How do I know I can really trust you?", he then went on to ask, already knowing deep down the answer. Perhaps he had been able to access her own mind to a point, enough to know she was telling the truth. He sighed as he wondered if answering her own question was really wise. What if he was wrong? "Just who is this Ultra anyway, are they the suits?", he then went on to ask. He knew that they were pretty pissed off with him, he hadn't exactly laid as low as he should have done. They knew what he had been up to, and were pretty intent on stopping him. He couldn't just stand there and watch things happening when he could do something about them, after all, and it wasn't as if he had exposed himself. Yet, he reminded himself.
Taking a deep breath, and perhaps against his better judgement, the teen stood up as he again tried to communicate with the woman. By now, the train had pulled in and he was having trouble distinguishing her from the other voices that had begun to fill his head. Stay calm, you can do this, he told himself as he attempted to filter out the new thoughts that had begun to invade his mind. "Can you still hear me? Where are you? I'm in the subway station, near a wall. You'd better be telling the truth..." Despite the warning, Ryan knew that there probably wasn't much he could do that this person couldn't. He wasn't about to give that away though, as he waited for whatever was coming next. He was ready to run for it though, just in case.

Nina payed attention to his thoughts and nodded slowly, starting to walk again as she looked for him, her big green eyes moving from a face to the other. "Stay calm. I'll find you and we can talk. I promise you I'll help you." She reassured him, smiling in relief as she finally spot the teenager boy against a wall. Walking up to him in a catlike walk, Nina bent her knees so they'd be face to face, a soft smile on her lips. "Hello Ryan." She greeted him first in thought so he'd know she owned the voice in his head. "My name's Nina Teegan and I'm just like you. There are others, plenty more and we too are hiding from Ultra." She placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it in a friendly gesture. "Yes." She laughed softly. "The suits. Now, come on with me and I'll take you somewhere safe. It's not safe to talk here." Her british accent was evident in every word she said, standing back up, Nina looked around before she offered him her hand. "You can trust me, now let's go before Ultra gets to you. I'll explain everything as soon as we get to the hideout." Looking behind her, Nina watched as a train stopped and motioned for him to follow her as she walked into it, it was empty and that made a weight lift from Nina's shoulders.

Smirking Killian watched the two Rookies chat about god and the earth he had created within 7 days and all it’s pathetic little creatures in it. Rolling his eyes he could not believe that Break-Outs were recruited like this now. Stuporous in the open, in front of human eyes in some shabby Subwaystation. Seriously? Why wasn’t ULTRA able to catch that little Break-Out in first place anyway? Since he had gone, thing had gone down the drain, irreversible. Looking at the blonde, John didn’t seem to bother recruiting them either. Maybe he in fact did have some leader qualities in the end. Leaning against a pillar, he could not restrain a short laugh, since their conversation sounded like some mindless written down phrases from a daily soap. Jesus Christ if he’d continue listen to them any longer he’d probably have to puke. Still things had to be done.
Watching them enter an empty seeming train, Killian decided to accompany them for a little while. He had no idea where John was hiding, and that blonde might just do him the favour to lead him there. In fact, if this investigation turned out to be a disappointing waste of time, he’d probably consider killing them anyway. Pursing his lips he tried to think of the last time he had killed one of his own kind. It must have been … yesterday? it must have been yesterday. Well what should he say, he just didn’t like people interfering in his business, especially not if they’re from ULTRA and on top of that stupid enough to assume he’d care a crap of any collateral damage.
“Hello, sweethearts.” He greeted them with an insidious smile on his face “Where is this taking you? Hm?” Invading both of their minds, he could quickly tell who was interesting for him and who wasn’t. None of them actually knew who he was either, which somehow was disappointing and an advantage for him. Bored by their similar and oh-so-sad history he cut it right to the core. He couldn’t tell if that new Break-out was someone he could use in future, someone worth recruiting, but he had to make sure, that if he had some speciality he’d either work for him or … well … didn’t get the opportunity to get recruited by anyone.

"Stay calm? I'm perfectly calm!", Ryan retorted, although he was perhaps telling a bit of a half truth on that one. Whilst he felt rather calm now, that would last until the next wave of thoughts to wash over him. He would learn to filter them out, he had too, but he had the strangest feeling that telepathy was never going to be his strong suit. Telekinesis on the other hand, he flt he was far more in control of, but then he had teleported here all the way from England! Where they any other powers he likely had? I hope not, too many as it is!
In a matter of moments, the voice that mattered appeared again, along with a blonde woman who seemed a little taller than he was. She then spoke normally, making it evident that she was indeed the owner of the voice. By now, he had also been able to pick out her name.
"Hey Nina, I can call you that right?", he responded with a small smile as she continued. There was something about him that made him feel at ease somehow, but he knew that putting down his guard entirely would be a bad idea. He listened as she went on to explain that there were others like them, in hiding.
I don't want to hide, he thought to himself before realising just how foolish that sounded. To remain out in the open would be highly risky, given that he was by all means in the US illegally. Just what else was he supposed to do?
Allowing Nina to touch his shoulder, he tried his hardest not to shudder as she then laughed softly and told him that Ultra were indeed 'the suits'. Just what I need, she thinks I'm a scared, helpless kid!. The sad thing was, in a way she was right.
Again against his better judgement, he followed the blonde onto the train, taking a seat opposite so as to keep an eye on her. Truth was, he felt he could actually trust her, which wasn't something he'd felt about anyone in a long time.
At first the carriage appeared empty, besides them, but just as they were about to leave, a dark haired man stepped on board. There was something about him that was once again setting off the internal alarm bells, but perhaps he was being paranoid. He would unfortunately be proved wrong as he then heard another voice in his head. Sweetheart?, he queried in annoyance as he turned his head in every direction to find the source of this new voice. Not that he needed to, there really was only one person it could be. It's him, he's one of us too?, he asked himself before responding out loud, looking straight at the man sharing their otherwise empty carriage.
"Who are you?", he asked as he attempted to remain calm. Was he with this Ultra? Either way he's bad news, I can feel it. How exactly, he had no idea. He was starting to wonder if he'd ever get the hang of his telepathy, but perhaps if it came to the crunch he could stay conscious long enough to use just enough power to defend himself? He suspected Nina had a much better idea of what she was doing, so he wasn't too worried.

Nina smiled sweetly at Ryan as they entered the train but froze in place as someone else joined them. "Nowhere you should follow." She replied dryly to the man's question, her british accent always became more noticeable when she was nervous or angry. Stepping in front of Ryan, she held an arm back protectively. "I don't know who he is but he's not a tomorrow person." Walking very slowly towards the man, keeping Ryan behind her so he wouldn't be far from her reach and neither would the man get to him, Nina raised an eyebrow. "You're not one of us, who are you?" She decided not to say it out loud so the kid wouldn't get nervous, it was never good when break-outs got nervous. Raising a hand, she glared at the man, speaking slowly. "That's already close enough." Holding on to Ryan's jacket, Nina was ready to teleport but stopped herself when she thought the man could follow. "Shit." She mumbled to herself, her eyes still glued to the threat in front of them.

Watching both of their reactions impassively, Killian remained motionless. He had absolutely nothing to fear from a young Tomorrow People Barbie and a terrified Breakout. It amused him to see that the blonde-haired woman tried to shield the boy from him. “C’mon, seriously?” he asked with a friendly smile “If I want to take him, I will, so don’t be pathetic, will ya?” Clapping his hands together he looked at Nina and Ryan, he really didn’t have the time to waste it on small talk and whatnot. Rubbing both of his hands shortly he smiled again, an evil glisten in his eyes “Since nobody brought cake, I suggest we cancel the small talk and get this over with quickly, alright?” Nodding he winked “Good.” Taking a deep breath tried not to loose his patience and think of the best way to get this job done smoothly. He could probably just kill the blonde and kidnap the boy to find out if he had some auspicious talent slumbering in him, but … nah. If that boy were a loss, he would have killed one of his own kind and one of John’s followers which he’d probably take personally. He still hoped to talk to him on a, well more or less neutral basis, before he started slaughtering his entourage. “Please, take a seat” he then said, using his telekinesis to force both of them to move to a seat and sit down. Smiling he thanked them for their manners, still using his telekinetic powers to keep them seated and immobilized. He had always had an affinity to telekinesis, and from what he had read in Ryan’s mind, Ryan also hoped that telekinesis was, well the power that didn't suck as much as the rest for him.
“Honestly?” he asked, pursing his lips and looking at his two hostages “I’m pretty disappointed, that John didn’t tell you who I am." Looking at Nina he specifically increased the telekinetic weight on her body, compressing her bones and muscles to physically show her how pissed he was about that. Reaching a stage, in which the barrier in his head would probably had incapacitated him, he looked at Ryan and shook his head “You’re excused, but you better not be as disrespectful towards me, than she was, are we clear?” Suddenly releasing the heavy weight from Nina’s body, Killian smiled again, stepping a bit closer still keeping both of them tied up telekinetically. “So, I am Killian McCrane," "and yes, you were right” he looked at Ryan “When assuming I might be trouble” frowning he added, “Well I wouldn’t really describe me being trouble, but there are a lot of guys out there who do, including John.” Winking at Nina “You might want to ask John about me.”
“Anyway, you probably wonder what I want from you. Well it’s simple. I want a few days with the Breakout to check if he’d be worth being trained. If he is, lovely jubbly, he stays with me and has a chance to become a pretty powerful individual. If he’s a loss, well, I’ll save you the time wasting your limited energy and powers on him.” Shrugging his shoulder he looked at Nina “If you would like to call John or his telepathic slut, I’d be very grateful. If not, I’m happy to give you a hand in changing your mind. I can really do better than in that little sample from before." Lifting both of his indexfingers, as if he wanted to add a very important detail he said "And before I forget, you don't really have a choice here."

Watching as Nina stood in front of the man, it was evident that she agreed with his thoughts. In fact, for a moment he wondered if he had accidentally told her this, rather than simply thinking it. It was possible, given that he obviously hadn't had the training and/or experience she had, but then as his new acquaintance grabbed a handful of his jacket, he was reminded that was the least of his problems right now!
The less than trustworthy figure then implored the two to take a seat, a directive in which he had not been inclined to follow. It soon became apparent that he didn't have a choice though, as both her and Nina simply fell into the nearest seats. Not only did he find himself stuck, but completely immobolised and rooted to the spot. It was obvious that he was doing this, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't move a muscle. It didn't hurt, yet, but the feeling of powerlessness had suddenly and understandably increased, and as much as he tried not too, he felt his breathing escalate.
Stay calm Ryan, he implored himself before remembering that both these people could read his thoughts. Glowering at him a a defiant manner, Ryan hoped that this wasn't going to be the end just yet. If it was, then he wanted to go down with at least a shred of dignity still intact. He then spoke to Nina, mentioning someone named John. "Who's John?", he asked before watching as the man took out his ire on the blonde woman.
"Hey, leave her alone!", he cried out aloud as he once again began the fruitless struggle to break free. Strangely enough, he was suddenly able to at least move his fingers. Had he let him go a little or...
As if actually listening to him, Nina was then released from the extra torture, but he very much doubted it had been because of his words. As the man finally introduced himself, Ryan let out a sharp breath as he revealed that he had indeed heard his thoughts. Killian then continued talking to Nina, presumably offering conditions for their release. All he wanted was a few days with 'the breakout', meaning him, to see if he was worth training for his own cause, whatever that may be. That, or he died, which wasn't an option he cared much for. Between him, ULTRA and Nina, despite the latters far more gentle and reassuring approach, he was really starting to realise how a rope in a game of tug of war felt! Sheesh, talk about a dog fight...
"You know, I can talk for myself", he reminded Killian before speaking telepathically for Nina. "Don't worry about me, do what you gotta do", he assured her. "Can't have anyone hurt or worse because of me, and if this doesn't work out then maybe I'm better off dead". He really didn't want that to happen of course, and he would fight on until the bitter end if need be. Even if he couldn't put up much of a fight, he at least wanted to go down trying!

"Stay away you son of a bitch!" Nina hissed, her anger evident in her voice just before she felt Killian telikinetically push them against the seat. She frowned and tried to move but couldn't, tried to use telekinesis on him but couldn't, tried to teleport behind him... but couldn't. This was a completely new kind of power to Nina, she had never met anyone with such power before. But that wouldn't keep her from fighting, she had won worse battles and she'd try her hardest to win this one too. "Since you asked so nicely." She replied sarcastically, giving Killian a sarcastic smile.
Listening as Ryan telepathically spoke to her, Nina kept her eyes glued to Killian so he wouldn't know she'd be talking to Ryan but, if he really were as powerful as he seemed to be, he'd catch their thoughts either way. "John's my leader. The leader of The Tomorrow People." She explained, showing her teeth with anger as she tried to free herself with no success. Letting out a cry, Nina felt the pressure he put on her body and shut her eyes while clenching her teeth, keeping herself from screaming and doing her best to keep calm. "Are you such a bloody coward that you can't even speak to us without holding us down? What's the matter? Afraid you won't be able to hold us?" Nina teased with a wicked smile on her lips, glancing at Ryan then back at Killian. "I have a counter proposal. You let the kid go and I get you John." Raising one of her eyebrows, Nina shrugged, licking her lips. "Don't you think for a second that I wouldn't turn John in to you. I will recruit this kid and I will train him and keep him safe. So you either let him go and I'll get you John or we could have more of a troubled encounter and you let me go and we can fight, face to face. No fucking tricks, no holding me back like a bloody coward!" Glancing down at Ryan, Nina heard his thoughts and sighed. "Stop talking to me, Ryan. It's not safe." She wasn't trying to be rude, she just knew Killian could hear them and she didn't want him to. Forcing herself against the telekinetic barrier, Nina growled in pain and fell back. "What's it gonna be... coward?" She was purposely trying to piss Killian off so he'd concentrate on her and she could have time to get the kid out of there. Nina bit her lower lip as she concentrated, doing her very best to block her mind from Killian briefly as she tried to contact Stephen. He was the one she knew best from the Tomorrow People. "Stephen? I need your help. Subway. It's Killian." Nina was brief so she could keep her mind blocked very shortly from Killian, knowing Stephen knew more than most of the tomorrow people, she hoped the name Killian would mean something to him.

Shaking his head Killian sighted “You really think insulting me is a good idea, don’t you?” smiling he moved his right hand as if he wanted to turn up the volume of a giant radio “Well, it’s not.” Again he used his telekinesis to compress her body’s muscles and bones under an invisible weight, causing them to painfully rub against each other by squashing the nerves between them. He detested cheeky little brats, especially those who just didn’t know when to shut their bloody mouth. To make it a bit harder for her to insult him again, he decided to strangle her by increasing the pressure on her throat. That’s better he couldn’t imagine how difficult it must be for her to breathe while her body go crushed and wasn’t even able to reduce the pain by controlling its breath.
“So where were we?” turning to Ryan he nodded Right. It was somehow cute that he tried to tell Killian off, but in the end it was just another reason to get rid of him. There was no place for heroes in this war and soldiers who answered back were a pain in the ass and totally useless. “Sssh!” he ordered, when also putting pressure on Ryan’s throat, telekinetically starting to strangle him. Pondering what to do with him he noticed him moving his fingers. Surprised he squatted down in front of Ryan to take a closer look. Loosening his invisible tight grip around the boy’s throat he watched the fingers move again. He had seen a lot but he was still always surprised when Breakouts managed to do the most unexpected things. A bit like mothers, who were able to lift a car when their child was buried under it. “Well, well, maybe you’re not a total loss after all” he stated, when straightening up again, listening to another insult of the blonde behind him. “I had enough now!” he yelled angrily, when swiping his arm through the air and with it the pertly blonde, who was smashed against the door at the end of the train “You really start to piss me off!” Keeping her pressed against the wall, he continued strangling her, while he clearly visible started to pull her arms and legs, impending to tear them off the rest of her body.
Hearing her calling Stephen for help, let him raise an eyebrow. Why did she call that guy if she could call John or his telepathic slut? Was his life so important to her, that she’d let that Stephen-guy run into his certain death? Cruel, since he wouldn’t be able to stand a chance against him either. John literally was the only one who could possibly keep up with him, and that was the reason he wanted him. “Jesus Christ, could you stop with that sacrificially affectation? It’s making me sick.” He said, turning his head towards Ryan, cold-shouldering Nina, who still suffered from his torture. “You all think this is a fucking game, don’t you?” he hissed looking down at him “well it isn’t. If you’re not strong enough for this world, you don’t just die, you wish you could, you will beg to die. You are not human anymore, so you won’t die like a human” looking at Nina he added “in the end I will make sure you won’t.”

Just entering the corridor after a torturing lesson of maths, Stephen winced at the voice in his head. His brain was still stuffed with equations and tired from trying to focus and not falling asleep. As a matter of fact, his brain was a mess at that exact moment, which made it difficult to concentrate on the voice in his head instead of the noise around him. It took him a few seconds to realize what that voice actually said. Dropping his books, he didn’t hesitate one second before running back into the empty classroom and teleporting to the first subway station he could think of.
Entering Broadway St. with his heart pounding like mad, he tried to find Nina in the crowd – in vain. “Nina, this is not funny!” he answered seriously worried “Where are you?” Feeling his fingers getting cold and numb he looked around before figuring that they might have entered a train. There were no more stations after this one, so if they really had hopped on a train, they must have taken the last one … This turned out to get extremely difficult. He didn’t jaunt into a moving destination yet, and apart from that he couldn’t even exactly tell where that train was now. The fact that Nina didn’t answer was more than an alarming sign for her being in trouble. If it was Killian, serious trouble! He had never met that guy before, but if his name let John turn pale, it was reason enough for him to be more than worried. Okay… What could possibly go wrong? Shaking his head, he tried not to think of what could go wrong, since the options were more than unpleasant. But if he didn’t risk teleporting now, he would maybe risk Nina’s life. Running up for a jaunt, he closed his eyes and hoped that his poor teleporting skills wouldn’t show up now.
Stumbling against a pole, Stephen swore, while rubbing his shoulder. Biting his lip to channel a fraction his pain he looked around and quickly caught sight of Nina. Confused he stared at her for a few seconds before he realized why and how she was held up and pressed against the train door by an invisible force. Considering her face expression she wasn’t just held up, she was suffering from a pain caused by the pressure on her body. Turning around he caught sight of blonde boy, who he had never seen and an older guy, talking to him. Since the blonde didn’t move and rather looked terrified than confident, he figured that the guy in black was Killian. Focusing on his telekinesis, he struck out to fire a telekinetic shock towards Killian, trying to hit him in a moment in which he didn’t expect an attack. “John? Cara? If anyone can hear me, this would be the perfect moment to turn up.” Staring at Killian and what he had done so far, he doubted that he was a match for him “Uhm, no last minute hero performances please, Killian just turned up in the subway station and doesn’t look very sociable.” “I don’t know what you want here, but leave them alone! They are no threat to you, and they don’t work for ULTRA either.” If he had the choice, he'd actually prefere a lesson of maths now.

The leader of the tomorrow people huh? This John person must be something, but to be honest that wasn't Ryan's biggest concern right now. No, that would be this McCrane person, who to say had proved himself to be less than friendly was rather an understatement. Nina was obviously pissed, a feeling on the matter her shared, but like him she still at least tried to act as though she had some control over the situation. Bad idea..., he thought as she then proceeded to call him a coward as part of her rant. This also included yet another discussion regarding whatever fate intended for him. It wasn't as if he really had much say in where he was going now, or who with, and he really wished he could move more than his fingers right now. He wanted to teleport away, to think and just be on his own. As much as he felt he needed the training, the thought of being a prize to be won made him feel sick!
Yes ma'am, Ryan thought in response to Nina as his eyes continued trying to glance around the area. There was nothing he could reach for any kind of leverage, other than the being able to grip the seat beneath him a little, nor was there anyone around who would have a hope of helping. They were alone with a mad man, with little hope of escape, a realisation that made him feel even more nauseous. Even more so was McCrane's reaction to Nina's less than cordial reception. He had expected him to be angry of course, but as Nina was once again telekinetically tortured. There was nothing else he could say or do to help her, as he tried to block out what was going on around him and concentrate. If he could move a little, then maybe, just maybe...
No time, Ryan quickly found out as their dark haired haired foe shushed him, before he felt his throat begin to constrict. Gasping for breath as the pain of his throat being crushed took hold, causing his eyes to sting as they widened. Able to clench his fingers enough to make fists, he dug his nails into his flesh, causing yet another painful sensation, a one he hardly noticed. It was then that McCrane drew closer, releasing his grip and allowing him to finally snatch some oxygen into his lungs. He felt dizzy and his neck, both inside and out felt red raw with an unnatural heat. It turned out that his little stunt hadn't gone unnoticed, in fact the guy actually seemed rather impressed.
After his comment though, he yelled at Nina once again as he then threw her against the train wall, continuing to strangle her and spreading her arms and legs. It almost seemed as if he was intending on rending them through from her body, and a sense of dread washed over him as he knew that he would be forced to watch. Watch as the woman who had tried to help him was torn apart, and as far has he was concerned it would be all his fault.
Turning back toward him, Ryan felt what little remained of his bravado crumbled as he felt completely powerless to save himself or his new acquaintance. "I'm sorry Nina", he spoke into her mind before listening to what the monster before him had to say for himself now. he didn't have to wait long, as went on yet another tirade and once again began slowly strangling him. He told him that if he wasn't strong enough, then he would die, something that was just about to become a reality. However it was his next words that really struck a cord
"Not...human...", Ryan chocked out at his words. He hadn't thought about it like that, was he really no longer a human being? If Killian had looked into his mind, he would know of his vigilante activities that had been intended to save lives. The lives of humans, just like him. So he had thought. Were they really that much different? Had he failed to see the reality of the situation he had found himself in? As a new 'break out', as the two had called him, had it really failed to sink in? Too late, he realised as in a matter of moments they would both most likely be dead anyway.
"I...learn...I...anything...just let...her go...", he choked out once again as the world around him began to go dark. He could hardly think as he tried to say that he would do anything he wanted if he let Nina go. He doubted that would work though, especially seeing as McCrane had already revealed a dislike for his attitude, but it was worth a try. Otherwise, they were both going to die anyway.
It was then though that another entered, a dark haired male this time. He heard him tell Killian to leave him and Nina alone, but everything around him was fuzzy. If something didn't give, then he would black out soon, probably for the final time. "Damn it, if only I could do something...", he thought helplessly.

By Killian's facial expression, Nina could tell that her plan to piss him off was in fact working but what she couldn't predict was that he was stronger and even more powerful than she thought. Who was he? How could he be so powerful? The impetuosity in Nina's face was briefly replaced by fear. He had her in his hands... what would happen to her now? Feeling a pressure over her body, Nina let out a cry as every bone and muscle in her body painfully rubbed against one another, it felt as if she'd literally fall to pieces. Biting her lower lip, Nina was unable to hold back a scream before she felt her body hit the wall as the torture continued. Glancing at Ryan, she tried to focus and talk to him but the pain was too overwhelming and nothing could make her concentrate now. All she could hear was the man's voice as he explained his plans and somewhere deep in the back of her mind she heard Stephen's voice trying to communicate with her but she was too weak to reply.
Nina parted her lips with a gasp as the air got suppressed inside her own body while the pain in it continued, she tried to breath but choked on her own air as her head began to pound from the lack of air. "S-Stop." She choked out in a whisper, the pain she felt was unbearable, she would probably be screaming if she could. Instead, her mind was as empty as the night sky, her body went numb and she barely felt the cold tear that slowly fell from her eye, she was somehow sure that this was it. Was that really how she would die?
A few minutes of that cruel torture had passed that felt like an eternity before someone teleported into the moving traing, it took her a while to focus and recognize Stephen. Opening her eyes, Nina tried to speak but, once again, choked on her own air. Her nearly dead green eyes wandered from Stephen to Killian then to Ryan, a feeling of uselessness overwhelmed her as all she could do was die a little bit more within every second while the Break-Out and her newly made friend were, just like her, under Killian's thumb. "St-Stephen" Nina coughed because of the lack of air what made it even harder to breathe as her sight became blurry. "Get hi-him out." She managed to say in a whisper as she felt her eyes roll and her head fall to the side as she fought to maintain consciousness.

If he hadn’t been pissed he probably had appreciated and enjoyed the conditions around him. Killian looked at the blonde, whose mind was overwrought with pain and desperation. Literally hearing her scream in her mind, he complacently looked at Ryan, who just announced that he’d be a good and assiduous boy as long as Killian let that female pain in the ass go. Sighting he looked at Ryan as if he was a three years old, who just stuck his fingers into a socket without a kiddiproof cover. “See, this is not how this works, Ryan” he explained calmly, laying a hand on his shoulder “see, you’ll be an obedient little soldier and I might consider not killing you.” Nodding towards Nina he smiled and explained “She on the other hand, is a total pain in the ass. She just doesn’t know when to stop and because of that will die soon anyway. And do you know why?” Looking deep into Ryan’s eyes he waited a few seconds for an answer, aware of the fact that his telekinesis still strangled him and hindered him to answer “I tell you why” he said with a short wink “She is disobedient and disrespectful, going like a bull at a gate not wasting one second to think before acting. Her behaviour puts our people’s lives at risk and in this war, we don’t need any heroes” Straightening up, Killian looked at Nina, with a jerk of his hand, sending a telekinetic shock towards Nina’s chest, clearly pressing her ribs down “or pigheads” another slight movement of his hands twisted her arms slowly as Killian watched her body trying not to give in to the pressure that would crush her body and end this charade within seconds. “However” loosening the telekinetic pressure on Nina’s body ”Oh, don’t worry little girl, I won’t kill you now. After all you’re still one of us, and I need you to show John what had happened to you here. I should mention, that if you don’t I will kill that little cutiepie here, and I think you know that I can and that I will, don’t you?” Looking at Ryan, he also stopped strangling him, when finally seeing that very special glint in his eyes. He understood and Killian knew he would behave, after what he had seen and experienced today.
Hearing atoms getting ripped and put together again within seconds, by clashing against each other, Killian frowned. So the requested cavalry arrived he thought when turning towards the genetically advanced who had just teleported into a moving train. He hadn’t seen him before, but couldn’t finish his thoughts as he got hit by a telekinetic shock, that let him stumble and clash against the train door behind him. Slightly feeling the pressure of collision turning into pain and later bruises, Killian gritted his teeth, when glaring at Stephen. His shock had the average power of what trained agents of his kind used to prevent incapacitating themselves. “How dare you attack me” he growled when sending his telekinetic shock towards the black-haired newcomer. “And damn, I know they’re not working for Ultra, smartass” he said “if they had they’d be long dead, so cut it, will ya?” he hissed. Invading his mind, he realized that his mental defence was stronger than the blondes and … oh, way more interesting. Raising an eyebrow when skimming through his mind, Killian didn’t realize that he had loosened the telekinetic pressure on Ryan more than he actually had intended to. That guy had an impressive pool of skills he had thought died with Roger Price, unless … Looking at Nina he smirked “Oh Nina, you have got no idea what kind of prezzie you’ve just made me.”

Surprised that his attack had actually hit its target, Stephen looked at the younger boy. Nina had used all the energy she had been able to scratch from the smallest pore of her body, to tell him to get that guy out of here. He had absolutely no idea how long she had been tortured already but she wouldn’t be able to take it for much longer, as her eyes already rolled up while her body still tried to stand its ground against the adversarial telekinesis. ”Hang in there, I’ll get you out of here, Nina” he said mentally, not sure if she even heard him, as her mind felt black and empty. Shit!
Looking at Ryan, Stephen felt the adrenaline rushing through his veins, causing his senses to go into overdrive. Killian was no human being, which meant he couldn’t use the chronokinesis, that usually broke out and saved his bacon in moments like this. “Don’t be afraid, I’ll get you out of here!” he said to Ryan, still not quite sure how. “Come on, Cara, John? Where the hell – “ but he couldn’t finish his mental emergency call, as his body got tossed against the same pole as seconds before. Feeling the steel bar hitting his spine between the shoulder blades, his back automatically reared up, causing his head to flip back and bang against the pole. Dizzy and in pain, Stephen went down, already feeling a powerful and unknown presence in his head. Damn! He knew it was Killian, who invaded his mind, but as hard as he tried, he couldn’t push him out of his head. Squinting his eyes, he tried to get rid of Killian, but failed. The way he skimmed through Stephens mind, was a hint of him not being a telepath, which somehow was good news, but nothing he could particularly be happy about right now. Get out! He repeated over and over, concentrating all his energy on the presence inside of his head. Cara had shown him how to do that, he just had to focus. “I …. Said …” “GET OUT!” he shouted, pushing Killian out of his head, and with him another wave of telekinetic energy.
Panting for air, Stephen grabbed the pole to get on his feet again. With a thin film of sweat on his forehead, he looked at Ryan and turned around to check on Nina. He hoped that he had been able to distract Killian enough to interrupt his telekinetic focus on her.

Gasping for breath, Killian's words barely registered, but just enough to know that whatever he did now, there was nothing he could do for Nina. The realisation hit him like a winding punch to the gut, but right now he needed to worry about himself. At this rate he knew that he most likely had only minutes of consciousness left, if not left to live, but he couldn't think clearly through the pain and fruitless struggle just to breath.
Killian continued, stating that whilst he might consider sparing him, he had no intention of extending the same courtesy for Nina. No matter what he said, there was nothing that could be done. He just wasn't strong enough, the last of the fight he had left in him squeezed out as the crushing pressure on his throat continued. No, I'm not weak, I can't give in, I can't quit, not now, he implored himself, although his body didn't seem to quite agree with his mind. He already had, and there was nothing his usual bravado could do about it. It was easy to say that one would rather die before being forced into going against there wishes or beliefs, the reality of such a situation was far different. The instinct to survive was very much a part of him that was still human, and couldn't be so easily dismissed. The whole place seemed almost as it was starting to spin. His head was pounding and his heart felt as though it was going to beat right out of his chest!
His eyes trailing toward Nina. If Nina died here, then he knew that he would never forgive Killian McCrane. Or himself. If he hadn't been so weak, if she hadn't needed to...
And then he let him go. Gasping for breath, every one he took burned as he attempted to once again regulate his breathing. He felt dizzy and found himself unable to think clearly, but soon he supposed it wouldn't matter. His biggest regret, other than Nina's fate, was that his family had no idea where he was. Or how much he..
It was at that moment that the new player in this scenario made his move, firing an energy wave toward their assailant. The move hit, sending the groups foe flying into the wall of the train. He had forgotten that they had been on a moving vehicle, as he'd had so much else to concentrate on at this point. As Killian got back to his feet, retaliating with a growl as he did so, Ryan felt the telekinetic pressure on him loosen as he then concentrated on the newcomer. Now able to move, he put a hand to his neck to give it a rub as he watched the two battle. He spared another glance to Nina, hoping that he had also released the pressure on her too. That was a brief thought as another feeling threatened to consume him. Anger, the most powerful he had ever felt was raging inside of him as every heartbeat only served to add to his extreme ire. There was no denying he was angry. Angry at McCrane for everything he had done here, his actions and words that had cut him so deep he didn't know if he would ever recover. At Nina for not leaving while she had the chance and instead choosing to continue to lay her claim, as if he were a prize to be won. He knew that this wasn't a game, and he certainly wasn't anything special. He'd learned today that not only were there others like him out there, but that they were far more powerful. Ryan liked to make his own choices, but that just wasn't happening here. That was the part that to him was the most inexcusable, more so than even the torture that they had both been put through.
Now able to stand up, somehow fighting off the last of Killian's hold over him, Ryan practically roared as he emitted a powerful telekinetic shock of his own, intended on taking out all in its path. He didn't care who got hit at this point, he just needed to get all of these people away from him, now! Not that he could have controlled it anyway, but he wouldn't know if he had accomplished his intention as perhaps on adrenaline alone, he made run for it in an effort to teleport.
No longer on the train, Ryan had no idea where he had landed and very little time to find out as he promptly blacked out. Hope no one saw that..., were his last thoughts before blacking out in the subway station, pretty much the same location as where this whole thing had started.

The train was dark and the only lights in it flickered as her eyes, blurred by the tears, saw nothing but shadows, or was it her losing consciousness? There were moments when the train filled itself with a blueish light for just a second and she associated it to their powers, they were fighting and there she was... useless. Nina hated to feel weak but what she hated even more to let others see her as weak. After everything she had been through, would she really die like this? In the hands of a genetically advanced psychopath? Well, that was just too disappointing.
Nina couldn't hold it in anymore, she could no longer control the pain she felt as her bones, nerves and muscles were pushed, pulled and rubbed by Killian, she let out a loud cry and squeezed her eyes shut, unable to keep quiet as all that left her lips were screams, screams that took her all the air she had left. As her brain continued to order her to scream, her body could no longer obey and no sound came out with exception of a husky gasp that soon faded away as her eyes, once more, rolled but she fought against it, trying to keep her eyes open and, at some point, she felt Killian loosen the pressure on her body though she was still being held against the train wall. "St-Stephen..." She started with difficulty, her voice coming out as nothing but a whisper. "I'm... I'm sor-" Nina could barely finish her sentence and she could no longer see the break-out and realized he had teleported out of there, she couldn't see Stephen, Killian or anything at all. The chaos that surrounded her was replaced by darkness and it was oddly peaceful and, for a moment, she wanted it to last. Death wasn't all so scary anymore, it was peaceful and she, perhaps, was ready to embrace it as her destiny. Taking what she believed to be her last breath, Nina's head dropped as her eyes slowly closed and her body went numb. In the end, she didn't die after all... but she could no longer hear, see or feel anything and staying awake wasn't something she could do. That was all she had for the moment, the nothingness that surrounded her.

Astonished about the newcomer’s ability, Killian underestimated his new challenger. Yes, he just seemed to have grown out of his big Break-Out shoes, but the new experienced ones didn’t seem to fit him either. Nevertheless, he had seemed to have had a counselling with a telepath, showing him how to push him out of his mind again, which Killian didn’t take serious at all. He could see how that brunette … Cara … trained him how to do it, but nothing he had to worry about really. At least that is what he thought, until that guy, Stephen, forced him out of his head adding a powerful telekinetic shock as a bonus on top. Overwhelmed by his power, Killian stumbled back, just to get hit by another telekinetic shock from the back What the fuck?!
Panting for air, Killian went on his knees, angrily glaring at Stephen, before turning his head towards Ryan, just to see him jaunt out of the train in this very moment. Swearing he stared at Stephen. “Now you really pissed me off” he said, when throwing his arm forwards and with it a telekinetic shock. This was not over, and even if he lost that Break-out for now, he may just get his hands on this little pain in the ass. Speaking of which, shortly checking on the blonde in the back of the train, he with a short invasion of her mind realized that she had just blacked out. Now that she was unconscious, he didn’t have to waste his powers on her anymore, which was why he disregardful let her fall to the ground of the train station. It was a shame that he had let her black out, he didn’t mean to give her that relief after all.
Catching sight of Stephen again, Killian straightened up and slowly approached his new target. After all this trouble this seemed to turn out well for him. Smirking he looked at the black haired. He knew that he worked for Ultra but belonged to the Tomorrow People. A risky business he got involved in, but up to now he seemed to manage somehow. Grabbing that guy’s collar he lifted him on his feet before staring him right into the eye. He wished he could recruit him, but since he worked for two sides already, one including Ultra, he couldn’t count on him being dedicated to his goals at all, even if Stephen’s family’s life depended on it. Still there were so much information he could pull out of that cute little mind, that would open him so many doors to Ultra and the Tomorrow People and therewith John. “You can count yourself lucky, that this is not the right time yet, Jameson.” Letting him go, he shoved is hands into his pockets, while continuing staring at his new ace up his sleeve. When he had recruited his team, he would track down this boy again, which now that he knew where his family and friends lived, shouldn’t be much of a problem anyway. He was certain that Stephen would be more powerful the next time he’d encounter him, but if push came to shove he’d have a powerful team covering his back. “You might consider my advice not letting your precious telepath bitch check your mind on what I saw, you’ll figure why.” Killian winked before he ran towards Stephen just to teleport out of the train seconds before he would have clashed with Stephen.

Being grabbed and lifted on his feet by Killian, Stephen couldn’t do anything against it. It cost him a lot of power to push Killian out of his head and the telekinetic shock was neither planned nor well power balanced either. If he continued using his powers, he wouldn’t be able to jaunt out of this train too soon, and especially not with Nina, who had just passed out due to Killian’s torture. That other blonde boy luckily made it out of the train, after literally shocking Killian from behind, giving him the opportunity to flee. At least on of them was out of danger – for now.
Forced to look right into Killian’s face, Killian started to tell him, that apparently it was Stephen’s lucky day too. He however couldn’t share that opinion with him. He knew that Killian was able to kill. He knew Killian didn’t have to restrain his powers to prevent him being incapacitated by his prime barrier, but that he used his powers like this, not only to kill but also to torture, he couldn’t even have imagined if he hadn’t just seen it. John said Killian had suffered the loss of sanity, when his prime barrier literally had been fried out o his brain, but after today, Stephen disagreed. This guy wasn’t crazy or insane, he was evil. He was evil and enjoyed it.
“You might consider my advice not letting your precious telepath bitch check your mind on what I saw, you’ll figure why.” Pursing his lips, he gritted his teeth while staring at Killian. He hated to admit, that Killian had a point. If Cara saw that Killian had been in his mind, they’d blame him on for exposing their hideout to him, would refuse to protect his family and assume that he might even be blackmailed by Killian to safe their life. Or he’d simply be waiting for them all to leave their hideout to kill them. He was sure that Killian hadn’t been able to see where the hideout of the Tomorrow People was, so he’d stick with a brief report of what had happened and blame them for not turning up when obviously two and one potential member of their group had been in serious danger. Thinking of Nina, he wasn’t even sure if she had just passed out or if her body had given up.
Quickly throwing his arms in front of his body to protect himself from Killian’s upcoming tackle, Stephen just felt a strong and short breeze, before Killian disappeared. Feeling the stress and tension fall from him, Stephen’s knees gave in to his body weight. Exhausted he tried to catch his breath, when trudging towards Nina, who remained motionless on the ground. Kneeling next to her, he felt her pulse and sighted in relief, when feeling a very weak pulsating in her veins. He had to get her to a safe place. And the Hideout was not an option, since he couldn’t be sure now, that Killian wasn’t watching and waiting for exactly that opportunity. Aware that he might endanger his family, he couldn’t think of any other place to go with her, but now that Killian knew where he lived, that didn’t matter anymore anyway. He would try finding the blonde boy, after Nina was safe.
Carefully lifting Nina from the ground, he focused on his home, and teleported out of the train. Relieved that he apparently seemed to be the only one home at the moment, he laid Nina on his bed and checked the clock in his room. His mother wouldn’t be home until late and his brother probably would be out with some friends and wouldn’t bother about who was in his room anyway. He had to return to school … with a few scratches in his face and a dirty jeans. That would be fun. But first he had to find that Breakout, before Killian did. “And I don’t even get paid for this” he sighted, when jaunting out of his room and to the subway station everything had started.
It wasn’t too long ago, that he had been in the blonde boy’s situation, so all he had to do was imagining what he would have done in his place. Due to what happened in that train, which must have been terrifying, he in Ryan’s place would have jaunted to the first place he could think of. And even if it hadn’t been the safest, Stephen could remember that he always teleported to the spot he was before, so he might be lucky finding Ryan here.
Looking in every corner, Stephen almost gave up, as it was one of the early rush hours and way to many people in the station. One side a lucky given factor, as he didn’t have to worry about cameras recording his teleport from minutes before in a crowd like this, but on the other hand pretty difficult to find the Breakout in that mob of people. Just intending to get out of the station, he imagined seeing some blonde hair surrounded by nosy people, who wondered if that boy was a dipshit or a junky. Smiling he approached the group of youngsters, and with a few gruff words got rid of them. Feeling Ryan’s pulse he again felt a huge relief when realizing that he apparently was just totally exhausted, and not in a shape half as bad as Nina. Lifting him from the ground, he carried him out of the subway station, until he was sure he could jaunt to his house without being seen.
Laying Ryan on the bed next to Nine, he sighted. He felt exhausted and knew that he wouldn’t be able to use his powers that soon again, as he literally used the last tiny bit of them. Throwing his head back, he remembered that he’d be working at Ultra today, and … will be having a lot of training. Until then he had to think of an exceptional lie to avoid that. Good that he had a few lessons of history and geography coming up in which he’d might find time to think of that. Scribbling a little note to Ryan, he laid it next to Ryan on the bedside table and hurried back to school – running, since teleporting was not an option. "Cara?... John? Nina and the Breakout are at my house. It might be a good idea keeping an eye on them, until they wake up. Oh, both of them are unconcious and Nina in a really bad shape. Besides, I am fine and thanks for your help."
Note: Make yourself a home. Mom will be back at night, brother around evening time. Food in the fridge.
