He is about to say something flirtous but is brought back to reality when he hears a loud crash in the main street, followed by the sounds of cans and bottles rolling across the pavement. Someone knocked over a trash can, the sound that came next made his skin crawl sightly. The shuffling of feet, many feet. Normally in a military situation, he would get into a hiding position and listen to see how many feet there actually were, but the zombies did not think like a human. It would be impossible to find out exactly how many there were.

He could tell that it was many more than he wanted, at least 20 by the sounds of it. Im sure with the three of them working as a group they could easily snipe 20 zombies, but they had just met. The trust issue would still be in the air and that is not something he wanted to deal with. He moves slightly towards the two and whispers "Lets get out of here", and begins to moves into the backdoor of store in the alleyway, motioning for them to follow him. He wasnt really sure where he was going, but he knew this was not the place to be.

He vaulted over the cash counter and moved to the front of the store, peering out of the window towards the horde moving down the street. His first instincts were only half right, there were at least 40, probably drawn in by the gunfire in the city. One of the dead shambling quickly down the sidewalk was particularly haunting, her ragged dirty blond hair covering a face that was half missing, the lower maniable swinging from a rotted tendon like pendulum. She was wearing a filth encrusted cheerleading outfit with her highschools mascot across the chest, one of the highschools he had went to the nationals with when he was in high school.

He shakes the cobwebs from his head and looks to the girls, his eyes wide making a mouth motion of the number of the horde without making a noise. He begins to look for another way out of the store other than way they had come and the front door. He frantically searched just as the front windows began to shadow with the bodies of the dead, the dirty glass clean enough to see the passing bodies.

Piper moves slowly with Beau, Still unable to trust either of them compleatly but knowing that neither of them could trust her eaither she whispered "We can find our way around, This is a losing battle for three people who don't compleatly trust each other" She nodded to Beau and then looked back to Samantha nodding and whispered again "But I would rather fight and die then run like a fucking coward, But we do have to be smart to survive.. We can't make mistakes." She grabs ahold tightly of her gun

Samantha tilted her head as beau tried to explain that he wasn’t as he put it, ”a creep or nothing.

Well okay. Clearing her throat she answered his question,

That’s actually where we were heading off to. Assuming that you can use that sniper you’d be invaluable to the Fort, I’ll make you the same deal I made Piper here. In exchange for shelter and food you lend us your service in protecting the fort; we have started rescuing civilians and I like that fort. The more hands we have protecting that the less likely it is to get taken. Beau then opened his mouth but no words came out, furrowing her eyebrow she saw him get nervous and so she too pricked up her ear, immediately the sound of feet shuffling along the tarmac of the road caused her blood to go cold. Pressing her lips tightly together she nodded at Beau and Piper in agreement. None of them trusted either one but now they had a common enemy. Nimbly Sam pressed her back against the edge of the wall of the alleyway she waited for her two companions to enter the building through a side exit, in the meantime Sam brushed her blonde hair back, bringing her hand to her machete sheathe, she withdrew the short sword and held it out into the road. Though the metal of the blade was polished and reflective, the blood of the zombie she had killed a while back obscured the once impeccable reflection; she cursed herself for not having cleaned it better she made out the small army making their way down the road in their direction. Sheathing the machete once more she breathed heavily before following the others into what seemed like a toy store surprisingly in good shape. Most of the figurines and dolls had somehow managed to stay on the shelves throughout the whole ordeal.

Continuing to move across the shop she spotted a doll on the floor with dark brown curly hair, big black eyes and an inhumanly wide mouth, a shiver went down her spine as she remembered the first time she had ever received one of the little monsters and how the day after she buried it in the snow and told her parents she had lost it. A couple of months later she woke up screaming at the top of her voice, the doll sitting at the foot of her bed with that same crazy smile, her dad afterwards had explained that she Samantha must’ve dropped it in the snow while she was playing and that once it had clear up he had found it in the backyard. Wanting to get rid of it once and for all, on the 4th of July she attached it to one of her dad’s fireworks. That was the last she had seen of that doll.

Coming back to reality she kicked the doll out of her way and slid underneath entrance/exit of the counter. Spinning around she managed to disappear out of sight just as the shadows of the dead started to dance along the floor of the shop. Gulping silently she glanced at Beau to see him mouth out a word, no… a number. 40? God damn it… Turning to see Piper expressing her view on cowardly actions. Shutting her eyes for a moment she thought of what to do. Finally her eyes fluttered open and she looked at Piper then at Beau and back again.

So we don’t trust each other. Right now we don’t have a choice, we have to stay put I can’t see any exits from here. We could always break out through the big windows at the front and make a run for… her sentence had been cut short by the sound of footsteps entering the shop. Apparently a lone zombie had wandered into the alleyway and into the store, glancing at the others she waited for it to pass by the counter door, when it did she reached her hand out; gripped its ankle and pulled it into their side of the counter. Once on the floor, before it could make a feeding groan and alert the others Samantha had withdrawn her machete for the fifth time in the day, brought it down and stabbed the zombie right in its eye. Pulling the blade free from the flesh of the walker she looked to the other two, closing her eyes once more she whispered,

What do we do now?

He watched Samantha use her blade on the zed that happened to wander in and knew that it was only a matter of time before more chose to get curious. He had heard Pipers comment about cowards and silently wondered how she had made it this far with that kind of attiude. Z's were not your typical enemy and fighting them outright was folly. He had seen whole battalions fall to the horde. He slowly peaks from his place on the floor behind the corner, peering at the horde, the 40 shambling humans would find them soon as they were mindlessly picking through things as they walked. His mind was racing, he had just met these women and now he might die with them. He knew he needed to protect them, but how? He couldnt see a clear way out. That is when he heard the first shot.

The sound of the first bullet booming from the barrel outside of the caught him by surprise, making him flinch, dropping his head down as the window exploded inward showering the 3 survivors with raining glass. He instinctivly put his large muscular arm over both of the girls to shield them, from what he could not say. As the shock cleared, his training kicked in. It was an Browning M-2 that was firing, the .50 caliber weapon spewing metal death in the horde, the Z's in the front dancing a macabre dance as their bodies were riddled with bullets. Bits and bloodly pieces exploded from the undead, each of them falling to the unrelenting might of the vehicle mounted machine gun. When the firing finished he peeked over the window, all the zombies laid dead dead, he peered over at their 'saviors'.

He caught glimpse of the familar drawing on the side of the makeshift armored jeep, the black background, the 3 towers, and the mask of the beast. The gunner of said jeep looks over at him just as he spots the insignia of their 'saviors' and ducks back behind the window seal. "Shit" he whispers to himself. The man's voice from outside nothing compared the bark of his machine as he yells "We see you over there, come out and no harm will come to you!". He swears again and looks to the girls, the situation had just gone from bad to worse.

"Ferals" he whispers to Piper and Samantha. "They do not know you are here and I plan to keep it that way", he gathers his gear, "Stay down and hide as soon as I surrender" he knew he would have to explain quickly. "These raiders are known rapist and are very well organized, It would not be good to be captured here", he raises his hands, "It was nice meeting you girls, perhaps we will see each other in the future." With that he stands up and steps out of the broken glass door, his hands up.

The sun was glaring down on him, closing his eyes. "Are you it"? the mans english was crap but he got the gist. "Yeah, just me. Im kinda glad you guys came around." he says in the best im-to-dumb-to-know-how-much-crap-im-in-voice. A silhouette stepping from the vechile, the sun making it hard to figure who it was. The very tough looking man steps out of the light, the beretta he had pointed at beau's head enough to make beau grit his teeth. "Put your hands behind your back, I knew we would get you eventually." Beau did as was commanded, the man ziptying his hands behind him and shoving towards the back of the jeep. As they loaded him in and started to move, his eyes moved to the store front, hoping the girls would stay out of this and praying for their safety.

Piper watched as Beau was taken away, She frowned looking to Samantha "I shouldn't have let him sacrifice himself for us. We are basically leaving him to die." She moved and held her gun tightly watching him moving into the distance, She stood and frowned "Fuck!" She couldn't help but feel somewhat responsible to what had happened, She was usually one to disobey and try to help whomever what trying to sacrifice themselves she was stupid, She was a coward.

Her heart almost skipped a beat as the familiar sound of gunfire filled her ears. For the first time in her military career she had frozen, she wasn’t sure what was going on, one minute they were being crowded in on by a horde and the next the shop that was once relatively in good state now lay in a sorry state, glass decorated the floor and where once there were toys stacked up there was now blood and what seemed to be internal organs. Fortunately for her, Beau seemed to have a cooler head than her and was already snapping into action, unlike her blank expression he was already peeking out to see who their liberators were; just the look on his face said it all. Shit. They had gotten out of one mess and had landed themselves in an even bigger one, she started holding her rifle with a tighter grip to the point where it started to hurt her fingers. There was an eerie silence after all the gunshots and then finally Beau broke it. Ferals? Surrender? Running a hand through her hair it took her a few seconds extra than usual to register what it was that he was saying, pressing her lips tightly she knew that arguing him would only waste time and cause the raiders to become suspicious; if she was caught there would be nothing she could do, if she and piper were able to get to high ground they would easily be able to take out the raiders. He was protecting them and by God she would return the favour. Beau went out from behind the counter and then, for the first time there was a voice from the raiders asking him to put his hands behind his back. He knew he’d get you eventually. Samantha was actually surprised, it seemed Beau must have either done something to really piss them off for them to have kill a horde just for him or it was only a coincidence that they had run into Beau but the latter seemed less probable. She couldn’t afford them to get into their cars, if they did it would take the pair too long to find a decent shooting place and Beau would be long gone, even if they did trace them back to their base she’d really rather not have to go through the ordeal of infiltrating an enemy base. If they were to rescue him it had to be now, she had to give them a reason to stay and investigate. Turning to Piper she whispered to her,

Go back out the exit we came from. Find somewhere high and well, you know what to do. Peeking from the side of the counter she saw that Beau was now by the car and they were no longer looking in the direction of the store. Signalling for Piper to go Samantha crept out from behind the counter and went over to the shelf on the far left of the shop. She wedged herself in between the object and the wall, pressing her back on the shelf she placed her feet on the wall then with all her might she pushed, finally the shelf gave way and toppled over, hitting the shelf in front of it and then in turn the shelf in front of it. The loud bang was certain to catch their attention and a mixture of the darkness at the corner of the rooms and the dust that had been resting but is now flying free all over the place would provide cover for her to exit unnoticed.

Just as expected two of the men went forward into the store to go investigate, purposefully, she made them notice her exit through where the trio had entered before. As soon as she was out she started to climb the fire escape that led to the building’s roof. Hanging there once she was just over the doorway. The two came out into the alleyway looking around for Samantha who withdrew her blade once more, jumping down she landed on the bigger of the two men, her weight propelled by gravity forced the burly man to the ground, not wasting a second she drove the machete into his neck; knowing that the other guy would be most likely to attack her she dropped to the floor so she was laying down, sending her leg she swiped his shin and clumsily the man tumbled to the ground. Sam rolled off the dead man and onto the other grabbing the hand he intended to shoot her with she swiftly drove the fingers of her other hand into his eyes, the man yelped in pain and that made her panic. It wouldn’t be long for them to come looking for him, taking advantage of the man who was still in pain she took the gun out of his hands and smacked him across the face with it. Standing up she clicked the safety of the gun on and tucked it into her belt. Picking the more recently dead corpse up she went back over to the ladder and climbed as fast as she could; managing to disappear out of sight at the top before anyone else came to see the cause of the yelp. Rolling onto the rooftop she wiped the sweat off of her forehead with her sleeve she stood up to her feet.

Rolling the body to the edge of the roof she looked down, horror struck. She couldn’t believe it. They were all gone… The only thing that showed that they had been there was the blood and gore of the previous battle. Shit, no! Drawing her rifle she looked down the scope at either side of the road. What the hell… they hadn’t even bothered to go check on their men? Raiders were the lowest of the low. All she could do for now was to go back to the fort with Piper. Maybe get a rescue party and go in search for Beau that was if she knew where he was; she hadn’t gotten so much as a direction. Sighing, defeated she went to go climb down the fire escape, she needed to find Piper, that way the day wouldn’t have been a complete waste.
