OPEN MAP COMPETION WINNERS

So, we are proud to finally announce the winner! Both Tesla7zap and Muldrake deserves my big thumbs up, since both will receive a lot of prizes. These were the only maps that scored above 75%, so they are really special!

Anyway, the winner is TESLA7ZAP! He won the TS Open Map Competition for the second time! He's the best Open Map Competition contestant from our history! In the first edition, he won with the map "Tiber River 2356" scoring 81%. The map was very well done, offered a fantastic lighting and an excelent job with triggers. In the second edition, he submited the map "The Pit", getting the third place with also an spotlighted map.

The map he submited for this edition is called Contagium. It features an amazing lighting, detailing and a great use of triggers. It was considered the most ballanced map from the contest and got the best eye candy as well. Fantastic 6 players map, clearly made by a winner! Honestly, my favourite map as well. Here's the details:

The second place is Muldrake! He is a tallented voxeller and mapper for Tiberian Sun Retro and he's also helping the guys from Tiberium Odyseey.

Muldrake's map is FS Phoenix, a very nice and fun map, featuring a good detailing and a very nice use of trigger. It has an interesting city in the center protected by Firestorm walls. However, the cities has some proposital flaws that allows players to pass through it and kill civilians. It also has some special sectors in the map that allow players to capture some goodies. Here's the details from Muldrake's map:

Open Map Competition 3: TS 3rd Place Is...
By: Banshee

First of all, I'd like to apologise to Absturz for a minor mistake: His overall score is 72.80% (and not 72.60%), although his valid score wasn't altered.

We are reaching the end of the TS results today. In the next hours, we'll know the Tiberian Sun winner. This edition repeats a fact from other editions. There is always a map, that although it seems pretty standard map, it gets into the top 3 for being well done and being ballanced, well designed and with a good fun factor.

That's the case from Lakes Of Blood, a 4 players map that wasn't as ambitious as a Finland (4th place), but offers a fast and fun gameplay. No special lighting effects, no abuse of triggers... only basic things like a train, an ion storm. It has nice cities, nice tiberium patches and a ton of strategical areas. The mapper abused of bridges, although, according to the documentation that arrived after the review of the judges, the mayor of the city likes bridges.

And, who made it? Wilshire, a former eclipse network administrator, now at Carto-Tech Studios. I've seen many mods credit him for voxels, but I wasn't aware of his map work, which is pretty good. He used to mod TS years ago (before me) and he suddenly decided to submit a map.

Here's the details from Lakes Of Blood:
