EPW Live #35: Opportunity Knocks

The broadcast begins with a recap of all the latest feuds happening right now in English Pro Wrestling which will culminate during tonight's two-hour special. Pete Dunne will defend his EPW British National Championship against the unlikely challenge of William Eaver in the main event. Also; Jack Gallagher battles Marty Scurll with a future shot at the gold at stake, Nixon Newell puts her EPW British Women's Championship on the line against Kay Lee Ray, The South Pacific Power Trip join forces with Dahlia Black in six-person intergender tag team action against Mandrews, El Ligero and Session Moth Martina with the EPW British Tag Team Championships up for grabs, Matt Riddle challenges Nathan Cruz for his EPW British 15 Championship, Will Ospreay vs. Rampage Brown and Martin Stone vs. Tyler Bate in singles action. The show begins with a rowdy crowd inside of the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham. After some panoramic camera shots of the crowd, we cut to Jeremy Borash and Nigel McGuinness at ringside who welcome us to this two-hour special episode of EPW Live. They quickly run down the card for the fans watching at home. We are also treated to some footage of the champion and challenger entering the arena earlier on today. Pete Dunne arrived with his associates Trent Seven and Tyler Bate by his side around a back entrance. William Eaver arrived in the front entrance to much fanfare and chants of 'PASTOR, PASTOR, PASTOR' from the early queuing fans. There is also footage of The Kings of the North trying to gain access in to the building. The currently suspended tag team were immediately refused entry but decided not to leave until William Regal confronted them. We saw that the commissioner chose to send police out to deal with the situation instead and Bonesaw and Damien Corvin had no choice but to leave. Once the footage is wrapped up, Jim Smallman is in the ring to introduce the competitors to the ring for the first match of the evening.

Will Ospreay (with Bea Priestley) vs. Rampage Brown
The Aerial Assassin makes a slow entrance down to the squared circle alongside his fiancée. The fans do not appear to be happy to see them however they do pop huge when The Master of the Piledriver steps through the curtain. Rampage Brown is over huge with the crowd and he marches down to the ring looking like he means business. In the meantime, Will Ospreay actually looks slightly agitated. He steps out to ringside when his opponent steps in to the ring and does his best to delay this match from starting. In the end, after several 'pussy, pussy, pussy' chants from the crowd, Ospreay steps in. The bell rings. As they go to lock up, Ospreay stalls once again and pulls the official in between himself and Rampage. Now the man mountain from Leeds is pissed off. The underhanded daredevil quickly rakes the eyes before attempting to pull off a Handspring Enzuiguri. Rampage grabs him mid-way through the air and slams him in to the canvas with a Samoan Drop. The fans go nuts. Ospreay quickly escapes the ring in to the arms of Bea Priestley. He then tries to hide behind her as Rampage steps to the outside and is chased around the ring. As Ospreay rolls back in, he delivers a baseball slide to send Rampage in to the barricade. He then leaps over the ropes for a Sasuke Special. The History Maker dives on to Rampage, he is caught and then drilled in to the ring-post by his opponent. The big man then rolls Ospreay back in with his eyes on his prey. Over the course of the next minute, we see Rampage execute a Big Boot, a Fall Away Slam and a Stalling Suplex. Ospreay is vulnerable. The Master of the Piledriver wants it finished quickly and does so by dropping him on his head with the Piledriver. He hooks the leg. The official counts three. In just three minutes Rampage Brown has defeated his opponent with ease and the crowd love it. Instead of celebrating, the victor requests a microphone from ringside before demanding they cut off his music. He tells us that he isn't much of a speaker but he has a message for William Regal; he has waited long enough for his shot at the EPW British National Championship. It doesn't matter who wins out of Ospreay and Gallagher later on. Rampage wants the next shot at the champ because he is the most dominant man in English Pro Wrestling right now and there's nobody that can stop him. He then tosses the microphone down having made his statement before marching to the backstage area. In the meantime, Will Ospreay slowly picks himself up in the ring. The fans at ringside find the situation amusing. He was beaten soundly tonight and this loss has really sent him several rungs down the ladder when it comes to any future title shots. He is furious. Bea Priestley tries to calm him down but he eventually storms to the back in anger whilst still clutching his neck in pain.

RJ Singh is in the back for his first interview of the evening. He is joined by none other than Jack Gallagher. The Extraordinary Gentleman takes a short break from warming up for his important match against Marty Scurll later on. They will fight for a future shot at the EPW British National Championship and Gallagher assures us that he is more than ready for the task that lies ahead. Since this match was announced, he has researched and studied every part of Marty Scurll's offence, defence and especially that devious streak that he possesses. He knows that The Villain may be willing to use all of the dirty tricks in the book however he has read that very book from back to front. Unfortunately for Marty, Gallagher predicts that the modern day villain won't prevail however the hero from a by gone era shall walk out with the golden opportunity.

EPW British 15 Championship
Nathan Cruz © vs. Matt Riddle

The crowd are digging The King of Bros who is currently 1-0 in the company. He seems to be just as happy to be here. His opponent has a look of disgust as he walks down to his title defence amongst an arena filled with jeers. Jeremy Borash reveals that Dave Mastiff and Zack Gibson have been barred from the ringside area. A solid decision by commissioner William Regal which definitely evens the odds. Riddle plays with the champion in the opening minutes however Cruz manages to score a nasty chop block to open up an assault on the challenger's ankle for some time. The Showstealer applies a Low Sharpshooter early on. Eventually the ex-MMA fighter finds a way to escape the hold and turns the tables. After being kicked in the gut, Cruz falls victim to two gutwrench suplexes followed by a gutwrench powerbomb for a two count. He then tries to escape the ring but is dragged back in for a Bridging German Suplex for another near fall. Matt Riddle is firmly in control. With momentum like this, it can't be long until he manages to score a point in this contest. The King of Bros scores several shoot kicks. He then lifts the champ up for a Fisherman's Suplex but finds himself on the receiving end of several quick-fire knees to the head. Riddle then drops his opponent. Cruz then quickly hops to the second rope to execute his signature Diving Double Knee Facebuster for a two count of his own. This gives the leader of The D.O.T.N a prime opportunity to once again work on the ankle of his grounded challenger. As the clock strikes ten minutes, Riddle is finding it hard to stay on his feet due to the damage sustained to his ankle. Cruz tries to apply the Inverted Cloverleaf but is shoved away in to the corner. His opponent then rolls through and lands a Roundhouse Kick out of nowhere to send Cruz falling to the deck. Unfortunately, his injured ankle only allows him to crawl over for the pin and Cruz has mustered the energy to kick out at two by the time Riddle gets there. Things have slowed right down now. As we hit 12 minutes, Cruz has taken a lot of offence and Riddle is struggling to stand. They exchange some knife-edge chops until Riddle counters one down in to a Kimura Lock. The champ withstands the pain for a period. He tries to reach for a rope break but is too far away. Eventually, he manages to roll out in to a School Boy for two. This leads to several reversals in to pin attempts from both men. Both competitors reach their feet. As they do, Riddle gets the first strike with a nasty forearm to the face. He then follows up with a Spinning Backfist and then quickly locks on the Bromission with a whole minute left. Cruz has nowhere to go. He yells out in pain as the crowd will him to submit. This goes on for some time. With just 15 seconds left, Cruz lifts his arm up to tap but then turns his head to see the clock reading the time limit left. His look of pain turns in to a smile. He sticks his middle finger up at the crowd who begin to boo. As the time limit expires, we hit a score draw. The match ends in a draw which means Nathan Cruz will retain the EPW British 15 Championship. The boos get even louder as the bell rings and Jim Smallman is forced to announce the result. Cruz slowly rolls out with the gold under his arm. As he crawls up the ramp with the knowledge that he got lucky this evening, Matt Riddle is left in a state of frustration in the ring. The King of Bros eventually emerges from having his head in his hands to taking in an applause from the appreciative EPW fan-base. He put in a valiant effort tonight. It was nothing to be ashamed of but due to the nature of this specific title belt, he just didn't have enough time to seal the victory.

British Strong Style are in their locker room in the backstage area. Tyler Bate's match with Martin Stone is up next and Pete Dunne gives his younger associate a pep talk. After being told that tonight is his breakout night, Tyler Bate nods his head and leaves the room looking focused. Trent Seven tells Dunne that he cannot wait to see William Eaver taught a lesson in the main event but The Bruiserweight claims that Seven should have done exactly that last week. Seven cannot reply before Dunne promises to have the blood of christ on his hands as he defeats The Pastor with ease later on. He is also mighty excited at the announcement he has for the English Pro Wrestling fans at the end of the show too about the future of British Strong Style. The EPW British National Champion promises that he will wipe the smile off of the face of William Regal, the rest of the locker room and every fan in the audience and at home.

Martin Stone vs. Tyler Bate
The EPW veteran walks out to a warm reception from the Birmingham crowd. The 20-year old member of British Strong Style also has a smattering of support due to coming from Dudley which is fairly local to Birmingham however he is less receptive to it. He refuses to acknowledge any cheers which leads to them soon filtering out. The match begins with some chain wrestling which appears to favour Tyler Bate. Martin Stone holds his own but it is The Iron Master who sneaks in a Rolling Wheel Kick to swing the momentum in his favour. He uses some fast-paced, technical offence to lure Stone in to a position for a Diving European Uppercut. The Guvnor responds with a European Uppercut of his own after Bate leaps to execute the move. Stone fires back with several uppercuts in the corner followed by three knife-edge chops and a Hip Toss. Now in firm control, the veteran scores with a Steve Austin inspired Lou Thesz Press before nailing the rookie with a Running Knee Drop. Several power moves later and Bate is still kicking out. Stone then winds up for a Lariat. Bate manages to reverse it in to a back-slide pin for two before drilling Stone with a picture-perfect dropkick. After The Guvnor rolls out to the floor, Tyler Bate then pulls off a Springboard Moonsault to the outside on to his opponent. He only scores a two count off the back of it though. Bate is determined to build up the pressure on Martin Stone. He knows that the veteran cannot be stopped if given too much momentum. The Iron Master begins wading down with some ground-based offence. He then follows up by sending Stone round in circles with an Airplane Spin which is transitioned in to a Fireman's Carry Slam. The 20-year old really is firing on all cylinders here. Nigel McGuinness even comments that the veteran is looking more vulnerable than he ever has and Tyler Bate could be looking at the biggest win of his career yet if he can carry on riding the wave of momentum. He needs to find that key to victory first though. After a few offensive moves, he is struggling to actually put Stone away. He tosses him unmercifully in to the ropes with an Exploder Suplex. Not even that gets the job done. The Guvnor attempts to fight back but is eventually floored with a Diving European Uppercut. He kicks out. Bate then drops him with an Inverted Headlock Backbreaker. Another kick out follows. Martin Stone tries to battle back again but Bate quickly lands a Discus Forearm and follows up with his finishing move; the Tyler Driver '97. Bate holds on for a pin. The referee counts. Everyone is shocked when Stone kicks out right before three. The rookie is fuming. He lifts Stone up in a state of anger and goes for the move again. This time, The Guvnor counters with a Back Body Drop. He then blasts Bate with a Lariat for a near fall of his own and both men lay motionless on the canvas. Both men eventually climb to their feet. After exchanging some right hands, Bate takes an opportunity to attempt a Northern Lights Suplex. He tries to lift twice. Stone manages to block it and then hurls his opponent through the ropes to quickly follow up with a Rope-Hung DDT. The fans go nuts as their hero looks to put things to bed. Bate makes one last ditch attempt to fight back but is dragged straight down in to the Arm-Trap Crossface. After a short struggle, The Iron Master submits. Martin Stone picks up the victory. He celebrates on each turnbuckle before returning to the backstage area. Tyler Bate however is left to struggle with the loss but can be safe in the knowledge that he nearly put away one of EPW's best on several occasions.

The ring is cleared. Before we go to our next match, we are interrupted by the sound of 'Crank' by Psyko Dalek. Out from the back walks Jack Jester led by Greg Lambert. They walk down to the squared circle for what Borash and McGuinness confirm as an unscheduled appearance. Once The Truth gets hold of a microphone in the ring, he is quick to put down the Birmingham fans as 'dirty, disgusting, brain-dead brummies'. This only ramps up the heat on them. He then asks why his client has been missed off tonight's two-hour special of Live when he is the finest talent on the roster. Lambert then challenges any man in the back on Jester's behalf to a match right now. In the meantime, Jack Jester is stood quietly in the corner of the ring. His request appears to have been answered when the music of Wolfgang plays. The Last King of Scotland walks out on to the stage. He then looks back at the curtain and out walks Chris Renfrew who stands by his side. We saw Renfrew watch from ringside as Wolfgang defeated Noam Dar last week on Reloaded and it appears that the two are now aligned. It isn't long before they join the other two in the ring. Renfrew and Lambert confront one another in the ring. Lambert himself introduces Renfrew as 'one of Scottish wrestling's biggest personalities' however the people in the arena tonight wouldn't know that as Scotland is possibly even worse than the city we emanate from this evening. After laughing to himself, Lambert looks at Wolfgang and offers him to manage him. Chris Renfrew eventually snatches the microphone from the cocky loud-mouthed manager before declaring that he didn't come out to answer a challenge. He actually came out to set Jack Jester free. The Dark Prince, who was standing in the corner, is confused. Renfrew continues to claim that before EPW decide to walk in and 'resurrect British wrestling once again', it was the scene in Scotland that was keeping it alive. It was the sacrifices that people like he, Wolfgang and Jack Jester made in grotty little nightclubs in Glasgow that kept British wrestling from dying out completely and it makes him absolutely sick that the English are taking all the credit as per usual. So from this point forward, Renfrew announces that The Tartan Rebellion begins. He gets right in the face of Greg Lambert and tells him to, please, run down Scotland again. Jack Jester then props his arm around the shoulder of The Truth. Has Lambert been double-crossed? He begs for forgiveness however his former clients lays him out with the Tombstone Piledriver. Chris Renfrew then stands in the middle with Wolfgang and Jack Jester either side of him. The Tartan Rebellion has arrived in English Pro Wrestling and they have made their intentions clear; they are here to get Scotland the respect it deserves.

Six-Person Tag Team Match for the EPW British Tag Team Championships
The South Pacific Power Trip © vs. Mandrews, El Ligero & Session Moth Martina

Before the match begins, Jim Smallman announces that it has been ruled by William Regal that all genders have been permitted to fight one another. TK Cooper, Travis Banks and Dahlia Black are first to make their way down together and look fairly confident at their chances of retaining this evening. Mandrews and El Ligero enter together before welcoming out Session Moth Martina who raves her way down to the ring. The Queen of Sesh Style has clearly sunk a few beers already however her partners turn down the offer of a pre-match can of beer for themselves. The match begins with a cracking back and forth from Mandrews and Travis Banks. White Lightning uses his fast-paced style to actually out-wrestle The Kiwi Buzzsaw at the early stages. Eventually, Banks powers his opponent up off of the mat and executes a Dead-Lift German Suplex. This gives TK Cooper a chance to tag in. The New Zealand native takes time to beat down Mandrews in the corner whilst riling up his other two opponents who are standing on the apron. Following some toe kicks and knife-edge chops, Cooper delivers a Corkscrew Back Elbow on the rebound. His cockiness ends up costing him though. TK climbs up to the top rope and riles up the fans before executing a move which gives Mandrews time to recover, run up to the top rope and deliver a Frankensteiner. He then slowly crawls over to tag in his partner. El Ligero storms in full of energy. The Masked Sensation drops Cooper (and then an interfering Banks) with dropkicks and hip tosses before they quickly escape to gain a breather. As the heels huddle together on the outside, the former champions nail the reigning champions with in-synch Tope Suicidas. Dahlia Black managed to avoid the initial attack however Session Moth Martina quickly runs the ropes and clocks her arch-rival with a Tope Suicida herself. The six competitors all lay outside the ring. The fans are going nuts as the babyfaces eventually get TK Cooper back in for a near fall. Ligero then attempts a Wheelbarrow Bulldog on his opponent. Cooper holds on to him though and then tags in Travis Banks who runs the ropes and pulls off a Running Dropkick to the head of his opponent. The Kiwi Buzzsaw then subjects him to several shoot kicks in the corner. The South Pacific Power Trip take a couple of minutes to isolate Ligero in their corner. Even Dahlia Black has a go and chokes him in the corner with her foot. She then decides to swing at him for a Punt Kick but Ligero catches the foot. He then holds on whilst tagging in Martina who is ready for action. The Queen of Sesh Style has a hold of the woman she beat three weeks ago. She throws her in the corner and then pulls off a Bronco Buster to the crowd's delight. As Martina raves in front of the fans after delivering the move, Dahlia sells it a treat and looks like she is going to hurl. Martina quickly grabs a beer. She tries to pour it down Dahlia's throat but is caught with a desperate kick to the face. As Martina staggers, Travis Banks is tagged in. The Kiwi Buzzsaw drags Martina down in to a Boston Crab and there's nothing her partners can do about it. She tries to crawl to the ropes and eventually she finds the strength to do so. Banks then lifts her for a Spinning Torture Rack Slam however she counters in to her finishing move; the Satellite DDT. She hooks the leg however TK Cooper charges in to break at two. Mandrews and Ligero then jump in to even the odds and a fight breaks out between both teams. Mandrews clocks Cooper with an Enzuiguri before taking to the ropes for the Shooting Star Press. Dahlia Black reacts quickly though and shoves him. He crashes to ringside hard. Travis Banks then quickly throws El Ligero out of the ring too. This leaves all three members of the SPPT in the ring with Session Moth Martina. As she gets up, Cooper and Banks drop her with the Combination DDT before tagging in Dahlia who hooks her leg for the three count. The South Pacific Power Trip retain. Travis, TK and Dahlia quickly escape the ring with their belts and the fans aren't happy about the result. As they retreat up the ramp, Mandrews and El Ligero eventually get back in the ring to help up Session Moth Martina. They can't get her up at first. She appears to be knocked out. It isn't until Ligero opens a beer and pours it down her neck that she finally wakes up. The crowd come together in a 'MARTINA MARTINA, MARTINA' chant before the three babyfaces all leave together as we head to a backstage interview.

RJ Singh is in the locker room of William Eaver who will challenge for Pete Dunne's EPW British National Championship in the main event. After being asked how he feels going in to the match, The Pastor refuses to speak and carries on praying. Martin Stone eventually bursts through the door, picks Eaver up by his hair and goes face-to-face with him. The Guvnor looks angry. He tells the #1 contender that opportunities like this don't come around too often. The veteran continues by warning his adversary that no amount of praying is going to help him out in the ring tonight. There's no denying that Pete Dunne will do anything to keep hold of that title but Stone knows that if he can rival the champ's tenacity with passion and determination then there's a chance that somebody can finally take the title away from British Strong Style. The two men continue to stare one another down until Eaver tells him that tonight; good will prevail over evil and that's the gospel according to Pastor William Eaver. The Guvnor nods his head in approval before wishing the challenger good luck. Was that a good enough pep talk to spur William Eaver to a surprise victory tonight?

EPW British Women's Championship
Nixon Newell © vs. Kay Lee Ray

The challenger is first out to the ring. She ignores the jeers and has her eye firmly focused on the prize. The champion is given a much more positive reaction. The girl-next-door from the valleys has fought off every challenge since winning the gold back at EPW Live #20 however this is easily the toughest challenge she has faced in her near 4 months as champion. A wrestling clinic kicks this one off and they eventually wrestle down to the mat which leads in to multiple reversals. As they get back to their feet and the pace quickens up, Nixon Newell blasts the challenger with a dropkick. Kay Lee Ray looks furious but is drawn in to a Snapmare and another dropkick but this time to the back of the head. Newell then attempts a Monkey Flip however Kay Lee Ray lifts her and sits heron the ropes before catching her with a right hook. The aggressor lifts Nixon up for a Superplex. The champ lands on her feet, sets her opponent up and delivers the Chaos Theory for an early two count. This match has been almost all Nixon Newell so far. The crowd love it and the fighting champ looks extremely up for the task ahead. It is rare that a challenger underestimates the reigning champ but that is what seems to be going down here. Kay Lee Ray manages to fight out of an Abdominal Stretch. She then catches Nixon with a Big Boot and then executes a Standing Moonsault for a pin of her own. After a kick out at two, Kay Lee Ray launches her opponent in to the corner to deliver some nasty strikes including a foot choke, overhand chops and kicks to the gut. She then follows up with a Back Suplex and a Running Leg Drop to really maintain control. After a few more Running Leg Drops, Kay Lee Ray hooks the leg for a second two count before choking the champion on the canvas. The challenger decides that it is time to end this fairly early. At seven minutes in, Kay Lee Ray sets up for the Gory Bomb. Nixon begins to struggle before executing and then out of nowhere hits a Sunset Flip Powerbomb to counter and holds on for a two count. The champ is now set for a comeback. She hits three clotheslines, two dropkicks and finally a Headscissors Takedown to turn the tables. Her opponent is reeling. Newell runs the ropes again to lock on an Octopus Hold submission on the rebound. Kay Lee Ray drops to the canvas. She looks like she may give up here however finds an opening to escape after thirty seconds or so. Nixon then ducks a clothesline attempt to get a near fall from a Bridging Fallaway Slam. The champ has been so close but just can't put the former GCW star away. It looks like she is looking for the Shining Wizard though. This would surely put things to bed. As she charges forward to execute, Kay Lee ducks and then quickly counters in to the Gory Bomb. The challenger hooks the leg. Boos reign in from the fans as the referee counts but suddenly Nixon kicks out of the finisher. Everyone is stunned however rallies behind the champion. Newell is dragged to her feet for another Gory Bomb. This time she elbows her way out of it and then pulls off the Welsh Destroyer to turn the match on it's head once again. Both competitors are down. Newell doesn't have the energy yet to crawl over for the pin. In the mean time, Nikki Storm runs down and tries to enter the ring to get involved. This momentarily distracts the official who tries to wrestle her out of the ring. Nixon has now reached Kay Lee Ray for a pin but the referee is still trying to push Storm to ringside. Suddenly out of nowhere, a huge female has entered over the barricade and steps in to the ring. Nigel McGuinness yells out what is going through many British wrestling fans heads; 'THAT'S VIPER!' The Scottish heavyweight, known for her XCW tenure and stints in promotions all over the world, has arrived in EPW. She quickly drags Nixon Newell up and nails her with a Powerbomb before exiting the ring. At this moment, Nikki Storm suddenly lets go of the referee. The challenger then rolls over and covers the champion. The three is counted. Kay Lee Ray is our new EPW British National Champion. We just witnessed daylight robbery. Nixon Newell has been screwed out of her title courtesy of Nikki Storm and Viper. They both eventually step in to the ring to join the new champ and Storm is quick to throw Nixon out to ringside. In the meantime, Viper hoists Kay Lee Ray on to her shoulders as she lifts her newly won belt up high in the air. The landscape of the women's division has just changed drastically.

William Regal has summoned Leroy Kincaide and Roy Johnson to his office. The commissioner was impressed by their debut performance as a tag team last week and expresses his interest in seeing them mix it up as a duo even more in the tag team division. After some thought and discussion, the two men agree that this could be a great career move. They thank Regal for the opportunity but before they can leave the room, in walks Dave Mastiff and Zack Gibson. The former EPW British Tag Team Champions step up to Regal's desk uninvited and want to know when they are going to get a chance to get back THEIR titles. The commissioner laughs at the very suggestion that they deserve a shot at the belts. Kincaide and Johnson take it upon themselves to step up to the two members of The Defenders of the Nation. They proclaim that if Mastiff and Gibson want a shot at the belts, they are gonna have to get past 'South London's Finest'. The two teams square off in the middle of the office and our commissioner immediately books them in a match for next week's Live. Mastiff and Gibson declare that they will see Kincaide and Johnson in the ring and it won't be pretty.

#1 Contenders Tournament Final
Marty Scurll vs. Jack Gallagher

This is the final match in a small tournament between the top four contenders in the company. Gallagher eliminated Will Ospreay to gain his spot in this match and Scurll managed to defeat Rampage Brown to advance last week. It was only five weeks ago that these two successfully teamed together to beat The Swords of Essex at EPW Live #30. It is a split 50/50 crowd. Many support the straight-laced respectful style that The Extraordinary Gentleman brings to the table. Others have succumbed to the undeniable charm of The Villain who has picked up much support from the fans over the past couple of months. The match begins with the two men slowly feeling out one another. This is an important match and they don't want to go in all guns blazing straight off the bat. They engage in some impressive, fast paced chain wrestling. Eventually Scurll tries to stomp on the hand of Gallagher who moves at the last second and trips his opponent. We see The Villain fall on his arse. Gallagher then locks on a grounded hammerlock to send this one to the mat. Reversals follow. As they reach a vertical base, the pace quickens once again and Marty pulls off a low dropkick. He then quickly pulls off a Snap DDT followed by a Sliding European Uppercut. This gives The Villain a chance to take control for a while. He takes time to work down Gallagher in the corner before snapping his opponent's in a particularly nasty fashion. With the momentum well and truly in his favour, Scurll delivers the Just Kidding Superkick to send his opponent tumbling to the outside. Gallagher climbs up at ringside but Scurll then mows him down again with a Running Punt Kick from the apron. It looks like we are seeing that villainous streak come out of the former EPW British National Champion once again. He continues by setting up for a Falcon Arrow on to the ring apron. This could prove fatal however Gallagher breaks free and clocks his opponent with a headbutt. Scurll staggers around ringside to give The Extraordinary Gentleman the chance to roll him back in the ring, take to the ropes and fly off with a Missile Dropkick. He has The Villain down. Gallagher ties Scurll up in a Body Knot which not only humiliates but puzzles his opponent. After watching The Villain squirm for a moment, he follows up with a swift soccer kick to the buttocks which gives enough impact to break the hold. Scurll rolls up to his feet but is locked in an Octopus Hold right away. The submission is locked on hard and we are right in the middle of the ring. Out of nowhere, Scurll pulls off an impressive crucifix counter in to a one count pinfall. Both men soon get up and it is Marty who manages to blast Gallagher first with a rake to the eyes. After ignoring a warning from the referee, he springs off the ropes to execute a Rope-Assisted Enzuiguri for a two count. Scurll takes his opponent to the corner again. This time he sets up for a Frankensteiner. Gallagher manages to hold on to the rope, hops back down and transitions straight in to a Boston Crab. Scurll yells out in pain. He does however find the strength to crawl to the bottom rope for a break. After some more time taking some offence, The Villain ducks a Lariat to pull off a Tornado DDT which he transitions in to the Crossface Chickenwing. With the finisher applied, Jack Gallagher is in a dangerous position. He tries to stretch his legs for the bottom rope. He can't reach. He then tries to stretch his free arm but that is no use either. Half the crowd are yelling 'tap'. Half the crowd are yelling Gallagher's name. He is in a tricky position but after over a minute in the hold, he manages to slip out with incredible balance thanks to a headstand. The fans go nuts. Gallagher runs the ropes. Marty nips up though and catches him to drop him with his signature move; the Party's Over. He rarely uses the move. It is a throwback to his days in the old era of EPW where he was a part of The Midnight Ravers. He hooks the leg but only gets a two. Scurll is far from done yet though. He awaits Gallagher to climb to his feet and tries to lock on the Crossface Chickenwing once again. This time Gallagher elbows his way to safety. As Scurll staggers back in to the turnbuckles, Gallagher is quick to capitalise and blasts him with a Running Corner Dropkick for a near fall himself. These two have taken themselves to the very limit. Marty makes one last attempt at a comeback after managing to sneak a kick to the groin behind the ref's back and then executing a Falcon Arrow. The Villain then slowly drags Gallagher in to the middle. He takes his time but wants this Crossface Chickenwing to be in the perfect position. As he goes to apply it, Gallagher drags him down in to the Achilles Lock. He was playing possum. Maybe he did learn a thing or two from Marty Scurll's book of dirty tricks. The Extraordinary Gentleman continues to apply pressure on the hold. Eventually it gets to the point where his opponent can take no more. The Villain taps out. Jack Gallagher has just won himself a shot at the EPW British National Championship. With the crowd behind him and his music playing, Gallagher has his arm raised in victory. He soon proudly takes to the turnbuckles to salute the fans. The Extraordinary Gentleman eventually hops back down to the canvas to meet Marty Scurll who awaits him for a handshake. After the great show of sportsmanship is accepted without hesitation, Scurll leaves Gallagher to continue his celebrations in the ring. The victor has a guaranteed title match however the crowd pop when William Regal appears on the video screen. He congratulates Jack Gallagher on his victory. His prize is set in stone however it isn't going to be any normal shot at the EPW British National Championship. The commissioner is going to make Gallagher wait for his title match. It will be worth the wait though because he will challenge the champion at the biggest show in the history of English Pro Wrestling; EPW Live #50: This Is England. The prestigious event will take place in the first ever city that English Pro Wrestling ran which is Southampton. However this time it won't be in front of 2,000 at the Southampton Guildhall, it will be up the road in front of EPW's largest ever attendance of 35,000 at St. Mary's Stadium. The fans pop hard for this. What an announcement! In just over three months, the biggest show in EPW history will take place and Jack Gallagher will be challenging for the EPW British National Championship!

After everything settles down, we head to the back where RJ Singh is standing by for his final interview of the night. It is with Will Ospreay who of course lost in humiliating fashion to Rampage Brown earlier tonight. Singh brings up Ospreay's recent run of bad luck. The Aerial Assassin runs through all of the things he has failed to do over the past few months; coming up short in the Battle For The Briefcase, falling out with his best friend Paul Robinson, losing in just three minutes to Rampage Brown and plenty more. He has come to the conclusion that his career has been on a downward spiral since losing in the grand finale of the inaugural EPW British National Championship Tournament way back at EPW Live #6. Ever since then he has had little success and that is the fault of the man that beat him on that night; Marty Scurll. The only way he believes he can turn things around is by getting his win back then he can get his career back on track. He promises to do this and promises to do so by any means necessary. It appears as if the Scurll/Ospreay rivalry may have been re-ignited once again.

EPW British National Championship
Pete Dunne © vs. William Eaver

Many believe that The Pastor might be well out of his depth here. He won the opportunity to challenge for the belt by pinning The Bruiserweight in a non-title match four weeks ago. Some call this a fluke. Some call this the emergence of a new star here in English Pro Wrestling. Regardless of that, British Strong Style have attempted to make Eaver's life a living hell since he was announced as the #1 contender however he has managed to prove himself as credible with pinfall wins over Tyler Bate in a tag team match and Trent Seven in singles competition. Dunne maybe takes his opponent too lightly in the early stages as Eaver holds his own as they chain wrestle. He catches Dunne with a dropkick which really sends the champion over the edge. The Pastor is eventually lifted and thrusted in to the turnbuckles by the champ who then chops the challenger down unmercifully in the corner. The Bruiserweight then stomps down on his opponent until the official forces him back. He can't help but lay one final kick to the face before he backs away. The smug grin on Dunne's face only widens as he watches his rival rise to his feet. As he grabs the #1 contender, he is blasted with an uppercut out of nowhere. Eaver follows up with some stiff right hands. He continues his offence but is cut off once again with a forearm smash. The champion then launches Eaver in to the turnbuckles with a slam to assert his dominance once again. He follows up with some nasty looking ground and pound offence until Eaver begins bleeding above his eye. This could get nasty. The Pastor once again fights back with the crowd behind. Once again he is sent back down and this time it is with a Rolling Release Suplex. After toying with the challenger for a minute or so, Dunne locks on a Kimura Lock. Eaver yells out in pain as blood drips from his brow. He refuses to give up on this opportunity though and doesn't tap out. After a couple of minutes, Dunne releases the hold and begins angrily stomping on that same arm. He then drags The Pastor to the outside before wrapping his arm around the metal ringpost and stomping on it some more on the steel steps. McGuinness point out that it is the arm he uses to execute the Clothesline From Heaven with. This could prove fatal if he looks to use that as a key to victory. After getting back in to the ring, Dunne charges forward for a Spinning Backfist. The Pastor blocks it. He then battles back with lefts before nailing the champ with a clothesline with his weaker arm. The #1 contender has a short time to recover. Dunne gets back up and is dropped with an Inverted DDT. This gives Eaver the time to climb to the top rope so he can land a Diving Splash. Whilst nursing his injured arm, he makes the cover. The champ kicks out with authority at two though and then grabs the hand of The Pastor to bite it. This riles up the fans a treat whilst the referee does his best to rip Dunne off of his adversary straight away. He then yells at Eaver to 'STAY DOWN!' He then turns to the fans with a smug grin on his face but they cheer as The Pastor crawls up to his knees and spreads his arms out wide. As Dunne turns, he quickly runs at his opponent but is caught with the Clothesline From Heaven. Eaver hooks the leg. Everyone is on their feet and counts along with the official. 1...2... Pete Dunne kicks out at the final second. The challenger crumbles to the floor as his final strand of energy appears used. He bravely climbs to his feet. So does his opponent. The crowd will him on to hit another Clothesline From Heaven. He runs the ropes however Dunne grabs him by the hair and plants him in to the canvas with the Bitter End. The champ hooks the leg and orders the referee down. The count is made. Pete Dunne remains EPW British National Champion. As boos fill the arena, The Bruiserweight's arm is raised in victory as his music plays. The grin on his face has never been larger as he climbs the turnbuckle with his title belt in hand. It isn't long before Trent Seven and Tyler Bate join him in the ring and he is passed a microphone. He mentioned that he had an announcement to make after the main event. We guess we are about hear it. After telling the fans to quieten down in an obscene way, they respond with 'F*CK OFF' chants. Dunne tells them that they will get their wish very soon because he and his associates don't intend on sticking around here for longer than they have to. Their EPW contracts run out in just over three months and a company abroad has offered him a hell of a lot of money to jump ship. The fact of the matter is that he will be worth even more money if he has title gold around his waist when he leaves. He then informs his two associates that they have big money contracts waiting for them to if they can ensure he walks out of this country with the championship. The heat is at an all-time high. The EPW fans don't like this one bit. Both Jeremy Borash and especially Nigel McGuinness look disgusted at the commentary booth. Pete Dunne yells at the crowd that he is going to leave the UK wrestling scene in tatters and all three of them will have a smile on their face as they do so. British Strong Style close the show looking pleased with themselves. They may currently be in possession of the most prestigious title belt in the country but there is no doubt that there will be a queue of wrestlers waiting to take a shot at them for what they are going to try and do.

Nice win for the Coffey Bros, though on that note the Kid’s not doing so hot lately. If things keep up hey may end up the Miz, and the only thing he has going for him these days his hot wife. Unique pairing of him and Sha here, wouldn’t mind seeing it again though.

Solid opening to the main show with both the backstage/outside happenings as well as the opening bout. The right guy won in this one.

Nothing wrong with a draw in the 15 title fight, though if too many of these happen the boss may want to consider some kind of overtime format. I remember a lot of good matches involving WCW’s TV title ended with no winner, but no issues with it on this night.

While I haven’t been able to get behind Bate just yet (still trying to get use to who everyone is and not get them mixed up) his showing was grand. He’ll recover from this loss for sure.

Had a feeling the ladies would be the difference maker in this one, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Enjoyed the post-match happenings.

I was wondering when Viper was going to debut on your end, almost forgot about her for a moment. Even though it sucked to see Nixon lose like that I’ll tip my hat to the play, good call. Curious to see what will happen next, but I got the feeling it isn’t going to be pretty.

A bit surprised by Scrull’s display post-bell but it was nice to see. Interesting decision by Regal to have Gallagher’s title match be a bit far down the road but it sounds like it will be at a major event. Will this be your version of Wrestlemania? Either way it’ll be interesting to see how things go with him between now and the big day.

Eaver came really close to scoring a huge upset, though I had a feeling Dunne would have retained. Part of me wants to see a rematch soon. Wouldn’t mind seeing Eaver with some gold around his waist, but give it up to the champ tonight.

Awesome show, pal. You're layout of your shows remind me so much of NXT and their Takeover's which is what I love most about your promotion. Everything flows so well, mostly because of your great writing abilities. You're extremely talented at describing details without having to describe every move being used. I wish I was as good at that as you are. Haha.

Poor Will Ospreay, but the match got Rampage over huge with me. So it worked, and a great choice for opener. The shocking decimation of Ospreay makes it seem like anything can happen on this show, which helped get the main event over even more for me.

Matt Riddle got robbed, I tell you! I like the 15 Championship. It's different and adds variety to your shows. This match had one hell of a finish. Dug the hell out of this contest! This show is on a roll. I'd say this was the match with the best storytelling of the night.

Stone/Bate was fantastic wrestling. Upset Bate lost, but if it was up to me BSS would win every single match in every single promotion. Hahaha. Matin Stone is the work horse of EPW, and puts on fantastic matches every show. Rematch please!

The debut of the Tartan Rebellion was a strong debut for the group, and good way to break up the show with a breather. Can't praise the pacing of EPW shows enough.

Six Person Tag was awesome. Martina is such an entertaining act, that really put this match over the top with me. Ligero and Mandrews are such an entertaining team and mesh incredibly well with SPPT. A fun chaotic contest.

Gallagher and Scrull did not disappoint. That match fucking ruled this show, and easy MOTN. I loved both character work throughout the match, but it didn't hold back the workrate. That was the very definition of a slobberknocker. Looking forward to the Gentleman getting his title shot on your biggest show of the year. Easily the best match I've read in the rebooted FBL thus far.

That Ospreay promo was awesome and makes complete sense. What show did the first Ospreay and Scrull feud end? I'd like to go back and read that feud to prep myself for the next act. Scrull and Ospreay is always good stuff.

The main event was great, and I bought into Eaver winning. The opener helped that because I wasn't expecting Ospreay to get squashed so quickly and easily so it made it seem like a lot of upsets and shocking moments could happen tonight. Glad that Dunne kept the belt. He's a really strong champion right now, and think he's holding the belt until at least until Gallagher challenges him.

Overall, the good stuff that I expect from EPW. Can't wait for the next Live episode.
