RELOADED MATCH #1: Session Moth Martina defeated Jinny Couture via pinfall with the Satellite DDT. RELOADED MATCH #2: Nikki Cross defeated Laura Di Matteo via pinfall with the Swinging Fisherwoman's Suplex. RELOADED MATCH #3: Mark Haskins defeated Noam Dar via submission with the Low Sharpshooter. EPW Live #63 After Reloaded wraps up, a recap of last week's episode of Live airs which concluded with Marty Scurll choking out Jack Gallagher. We also saw Moustache Mountain make a shock return to the tag team division, Wolfgang staked his claim to be the next challenger for Jimmy Havoc's EPW British Hardcore Championship with a win over BT Gunn, Strangler Davis made an impactful debut by leaving Rampage Brown laying, Big Damo picked up another convincing victory and Kay Lee Ray attacked Viper in the backstage area with a steel chair. This week's show opens live from Grimsby in front of a sell-out crowd. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness are donning the headsets behind the broadcast booth. They welcome the viewing audience at home and then reveal some of the action on the card this evening including Kay Lee Ray in singles action, Chris Renfrew faces a mystery opponent in his first match as an active in-ring performer, a #1 Contender's Tag Team Gauntlet Match and Jack Gallagher is confirmed to put his gold on the line in the main event. The champion doesn't make his fans wait to bask in his presence though. The Extraordinary Gentleman makes his way down to the ring right away and is in possession of a microphone. He looks like he means business. At first, he takes us back to a clip of last week where he saved Marty Scurll from a 2-on-1 beat down courtesy of Muscle, Steel and Sex Appeal. The Villain repaid the favour by choking the champ out in the Crossface Chickenwing and leaving Gallagher laying at the end of the show. The EPW British National Champion assures us that he will still be defending his title in the main event because he is a fighting champion however he has a proposal for Marty. He challenges The Villain to choose his opponent for him tonight because he wants to make a statement to his new enemy that he is not a man to be messed with. The crowd cheer and applaud the bravery and confidence displayed by their champion. The segment ends with him promising victory to the Grimsby fans. Kay Lee Ray vs. Xia Brookside The new #1 contender to the EPW British Women's Champion made a statement last week when she attacked her upcoming opponent with a chair in the backstage area. Apparently Viper has not been seen throughout the week and the commentary team confirm that her current condition is not known right now. The bell rings and KLR is determined to prove that she is the alpha female of the women's division. She launches Brookside from corner to corner with devastating irish whips before throwing her out to ringside and then throwing her over the barricade. The two competitors make it back in before the count out. KLR is waiting to stomp down relentlessly on the rookie. As she chokes Xia in the corner with her foot, she yells out 'bet daddy's proud now, huh?' This garners a negative reaction from the crowd. The former champ turns to rile them up. This gives Brookside time to get to her feet and she manages to turn the tables with a Leg Lariat. She then executes a Hip Toss, a Headscissors Takedown and a Backflip Front Dropkick to get a one count pinfall. Kay Lee Ray comes back fighting almost immediately. After delivering the Gory Bomb, the #1 contender takes to the top turnbuckle to execute the Swanton Bomb and then hook the leg for a three count. Kay Lee Ray was momentarily bested however managed to pick up the win in quick fashion. As Jessika Carr raises her arm in victory, she shoves the official down and retrieves a steel chair from ringside. It looks like she wants to pick up where she left off last week on Xia Brookside. As she swings the foreign object at her opponent, the fans go nuts as Viper jogs down and rolls in to the squared circle. The two rivals face off for a moment. The reigning champion dares the challenger to swing the chair at her again. KLR doesn't stick around and flees the ring to fight another day. The dominant champion has returned. It looks like Kay Lee Ray has really rattled her cage this time. William Regal is in his office where Trent Seven and Tyler Bate stand in front of his desk. The duo look rather sheepish with their heads down. The commissioner reminds them of their actions before they left the company three months ago and that they better thank their lucky stars that he is willing to look past all of that because he can see the potential they have. The EPW fans deserve the best and putting personal feelings aside he can respect that they are one of the best teams this country has to offer. He also understands that Pete Dunne manipulated them however he warns them that if they step out of line under his watch then he will not hesitate in throwing them out by the scruffs of their necks for good. Both men apologise to Regal individually. They promise to make it up to him by turning back the clocks and promising to do what they came to English Pro Wrestling to do in the first place; become the very best in the tag team division. As they leave, the commissioner reminds them one last time that he has his eyes on them. Moustache Mountain return to the English Pro Wrestling ring in tonight's Tag Team Gauntlet. Chris Renfrew vs. Joe Coffey Before the competitors make their way out, Mark Haskins takes a seat next to the commentators to watch this contest up close and personal. It is no secret that he has serious beef with Renfrew and wants to see him get beat up. Chris Renfrew looks confident on his way down to the ring. There are even a few crossed words between him and his arch-rival as he reaches the ring. His face drops when 'Iron Man' by Black Sabbath plays over the arena speakers. Joe Coffey stomps down to the ring whilst Renfrew panics. As his former ally steps in to face him, he approaches him to beg for forgiveness but is dropped with a knife-edge chop. Mark Haskins is laughing at ringside. The crowd are delighted as well. Renfrew falls victim to several more chops in the corner before being launched to the other side of the ring with a Release German Suplex. He scurries to the ropes to try and escape but The Iron Man drags him back in. Coffey then proceeds to spin him round several times with the Giant Swing. The fans count along with each swing. Haskins even counts too. Once Renfrew drops to the canvas, Coffey hooks the leg. The official counts but Coffey decides to release the pinfall and inflict some more damage. He delivers a Running Splash in to the corner and then finishes off his former faction leader with the Discus Lariat for the three count. Joe Coffey picks up the win in a one-sided contest. The crowd chant along with his theme as his arm is raised and he exits towards the backstage area. Whilst Chris Renfrew slowly picks himself up after the beating, Mark Haskins steps in to the ring with a microphone in hand and approaches him. Renfrew drops to one knee as he sees his enemy however it doesn't get physical. Haskins just wants to be the bearer of some even more bad news. He announces that in two weeks the two of them will meet in the ring in a match. After months and months of frustration, Mark Haskins will finally get his hands on the man who made his life a living hell. This should be fun to watch. RJ Singh is in the back for an interview. He is joined by the reigning EPW All England Champion and #1 contender to the EPW British National Championship; Marty Scurll. The interviewer states that his actions last week were not a surprise however asks if he has any idea who he will be sending out yet to face Jack Gallagher in the main event. The Villain declares that he and his newfound rival are the perfect match for a battle – the hero that saved EPW vs. the villain who tricked the world in to loving him. He also claims that the cheers from the crowd over the past several months have made him sick to his stomach however it was all a long thought out, formulated evil plan that has led to this. Scurll fooled everybody in to thinking he was a changed man. Everybody forgot never to trust a villain and when the time was right, he struck. Marty isn't sending out a man to defeat Jack Gallagher in the main event. He is sending out a man that is out to prove a point and will stop at nothing until he's put the entire locker room on notice. Strangler Davis, the man who beat down Rampage Brown last week, steps in to the picture. The newcomer formally introduces himself before informing us all that he intends on strangling the life out of The Extraordinary Gentleman later on tonight. He stares right down the camera as Marty Scurll laughs to himself in the background. The Villain is back and tonight he has back up. #1 Contender's Tag Team Gauntlet Moustache Mountain vs. Muscle, Steel and Sex Appeal vs. The Banter Edition vs. The C.C.K vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans vs. The South Pacific Power Trip The winners will get a shot at The Kings of the North in two weeks who have had a stranglehold over the EPW British Tag Team Championships for a couple of months now. The first two teams in are The South Pacific Power Trip and Muscle, Steel and Sex Appeal. Nathan Cruz and Josh Bodom do well in the early stages however both men's egos get a little too big and it catches up with them when they start posing towards Dahlia Black at ringside. This angers TK Cooper who sends Bodom over the ropes with a Cactus Clothesline. Travis Banks is not left in the ring with Cruz who attempts the One Night Stand. The Kiwi Buzzsaw finds a way out and then drops the former EPW British 15 Champion with the Spinning Torture Rack Slam. He is then joined in the ring by his tag team partner and they execute the Combination DDT for the three count to eliminate Muscle, Steel and Sex Appeal. Their next opponents give them no time to recover. The Grizzled Young Veterans storm in before their music can even be played. It is a fairly even contest however fatigue catches up with the duo from New Zealand. James Drake launches TK Cooper in to the ring post, drags him out and wipes him out with the Sit-Out DDT. Zack Gibson manages to hold off Travis Banks so his partner can get the pinfall to eliminate The South Pacific Power Trip. Banks and Cooper look visibly frustrated with the loss. They begin to argue at ringside whilst being taunted by their opponents but Dahlia Black manages to settle any tension. Next out are EPW's resident big man – little man combo; The Banter Edition. Dave Mastiff and El Ligero dominate their opponents for the majority with their unique blend of strength and high-flying skills. Ligero wipes out Drake with an Asai Moonsault on the outside. In the mean time, Gibson is dropped by his ex-tag team partner with a Running Powerslam. The Big Bad Bastard tries to follow up with the Big Splash. Liverpool's Number One manages to move and then rolls up Mastiff in to a School Boy Roll-Up with his feet on the middle rope. The official doesn't spot it. He counts the three. The Banter Edition have been eliminated. As The Grizzled Young Veterans chalk up their second win, The C.C.K make their way out to huge crowd support. Gibson and Drake look at their most vulnerable. James Drake is even dropped with The C.C.K's finishing move; the Wheelbarrow Basement Dropkick. His partner saves him at the last second as he is pinned. After tagging himself in, Gibson launches Kid Lykos out of the ring. Chris Brookes is ready and waiting though. Brookes approaches for the Yakuza Kick however Gibson avoids it and drops his opponent with a Running Forearm. Liverpool's Number One then locks on the Shankley Gates to which Brookes taps out. The Grizzled Young Veterans have done it again. They have one last set of opponents however Gibson grabs a microphone and riles up the crowd before they make their entrance. Moustache Mountain eventually interrupt to shut up the heels. Seven and Bate don't look like they've missed a beat as they jab away at their opponents. This is a fairly one-sided affair and Trent takes great pleasure in taking James Drake's head off with the Seven Stars Lariat. The Grimsby fans are then up on their feet as Tyler hooks the arms of Zack Gibson and drops him with the Tyler Driver '97 for a three count. Moustache Mountain are the #1 contenders to the EPW British Tag Team Championships. After they have their arms raised, Dave Finlay leads the champions out on to the stage with Big Damo alongside them too. The segment closes with the upcoming challengers welcoming the champs down to the ring for a fight however Dave Finlay instructs his men to save it for another day. As we return from the final commercial break, Wolfgang is in the ring with various weapons around him. The Regulator calls for Jimmy Havoc to come down. He wants a shot at the EPW British Hardcore Championship and he doesn't intend on waiting. Wolfgang is hungry for singles success since parting ways from The Tartan Rebellion two weeks ago. Eventually Jimmy Havoc appears on the titantron from an undisclosed location. The death match icon from Dartford admits that Wolfgang deserves a title match so grants him one. He then says he can see the hunger for hardcore in the eyes of the wolf and challenges him to take their match to the next level. The champ asks Wolfgang what stipulation he would like the match to be. The reply he gets is a tables match which gets a cheer from the crowd. Havoc laughs to himself before asking his newfound enemy whether that is the best he has got. He soon brings out a match, sparks it up and proposes that they do battle in a Flaming Tables Match. Wolfgang nods his head in approval. It appears the challenge has been accepted. As the challenger sets up a table, Havoc breaks it to him that it won;t be tonight which sends the crowd in to a state of jeers. Wolfgang tells Havoc that the longer he has to wait, the more he will make him suffer. The segment ends with the challenger playing to the crowd before a commercial for the next two-hour special airs. EPW British National Championship Jack Gallagher © vs. Strangler Davis The match is the challenger's first competitive match in the company with his debut match ending in a DQ immediately after he attacked his opponent during his entrance. That won't happen tonight as he is out first. The crowd don't take too kindly to Strangler Davis. They see what he did last week as a step too far but Nigel McGuinness comments that his actions have managed to somehow get him this title match. It doesn't look like Jack Gallagher is too fond of his opponent either. After walking down the aisle, he steps up to the top turnbuckle in what appears to be a salute to the crowd. Instead he dives through the air to take Davis off his feet with a Missile Dropkick. This match kicks off as Gallagher reigns down on his opponent with mounted punches. Strangler manages to break himself free but is blasted with a Headbutt by the champion. The Extraordinary Gentleman is more aggressive than we have ever seen before. He nails his opponent with several European Uppercuts in the corner. As he attempts a Monkey Flip, Davis shoves him away and then turns the tables with a Running Lariat. The angry heel follows up with repeated stomps and then chokes the champion in the corner. The fans are seeing their favourite slowly dissected as the match rolls on. The rookie pulls off a Rolling Fireman's Carry Slam from the top rope which Ranallo informs us he calls the Davis Roll. He gets a near fall off that. Strangler then attempts to lock on the Strangle Hold however Gallagher rolls out of it. The EPW British National Champion slowly makes a comeback against his larger opponent. He eventually overcomes the size disadvantage and delivers the Gentleman's Dropkick. Gallagher isn't done yet though. He came out here to send a message to Marty Scurll. The Extraordinary Gentleman motions for the Achilles Lock however he is jumped from behind by the #1 contender. The official is forced to throw the match out for a DQ. Marty had a clear plan here. The Villain quickly applies the Crossface Chickenwing to the champ and causes him to pass out for the second consecutive week. As the fans show there displeasure at what has just gone down, Scurll holds up both the EPW British National Championship and his EPW All England Championship above his head. RJ Singh steps in for an interview. The Villain reminds us that he was the first ever EPW British National Champion and it is his destiny to unify the belts to become the first-ever EPW British Undisputed Champion. The show closes with the image of Marty holding up both belts over the body over an unconscious Jack Gallagher. |

That’ll cost her some money, as the late Gorilla Monsoon would say, in reference to KLR knocking down the ref after the bell. Good idea on her part though not to strike Viper when given the chance to, doubt she would have been standing for much longer. Seven and Bate are lucky that Regal gave them a second chance. Almost forgot about them though. Though with them back in the mix wondering when and how Dunne will get back in the fold. Seems like only a matter of time with these two returning. Them coming out on top in the tag gauntlet is a good start to their return, but they face an uphill battle for sure. Speaking of the tag gauntlet, Josh Bodom appears to be losing some of his fire when he first arrived. Granted being in a tag is different being on his own, but I enjoyed his early moments. Interesting choice of a flaming tables match. Hopefully the fire will take down a member of the UK’s infamous unbreakable table faction lol. In all seriousness that should be a hard hitting encounter when it happens. Even though Gallagher was making a definite comeback was about to complete it, wondering if Davis will respond for the match ending prematurely (though if he did have an issue it bet Scurll would shut him up). Scurll’s ending a strong message to Gallagher, but part of me thinks Gallagher will be the one who comes out on top at the end. |
