RELOADED MATCH #1: Noam Dar defeated El Ligero (with Dave Mastiff) via submission with the Champagne Super Kneebar. RELOADED MATCH #2: Session Moth Martina defeated Nikki Cross via pinfall with the Satellite DDT after taking a heavy-duty beating. RELOADED MATCH #3: The South Pacific Power Trip (with Dahlia Black) defeated The C.C.K via pinfall with the Combination DDT. EPW Live #64 After Reloaded comes to a close, we recap last week's episode of Live where Marty Scurll took the opportunity to choke out Jack Gallagher at the conclusion of the show for the second week in a row. We also saw Moustache Mountain win a Tag Team Gauntlet to earn themselves the next shot at the EPW British Tag Team Championships, Jimmy Havoc challenged Wolfgang to a Flaming Tables Match, Chris Renfrew suffered a loss in his first match as an active in-ring competitor against former ally Joe Coffey and #1 contender Kay Lee Ray was victorious in singles competition but was confronted after the bout by reigning champion Viper. This week's episode takes place in front of a sell-out crowd in Barnsley. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness are on commentary as per usual and run down the scheduled matches for tonight which include Moustache Mountain vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans, Wolfgang warms up for his title challenge next week when he faces Chief Deputy Dunne in a Tables Match, Viper takes on Bea Priestley in non-title action and Joe Coffey teams up with former arch-rival Mark Haskins to take on a team of Chris Renfrew's choosing in the main event. Before the in-ring action kicks off, William Regal enters to a positive reaction. The commissioner welcomes the crowd however he is out here to formally announce the card for next week's two-hour special; EPW Live #65: A Gentleman's Homecoming. EPW British National Champion Jack Gallagher battles EPW All England Champion Marty Scurll in the main event in a Title Unification Match to crown the first EPW British Undisputed Champion. He also confirms Moustache Mountain's challenge for The Kings of the North's EPW British Tag Team Championships, the rematch between Viper and Kay Lee Ray for the EPW British Women's Championship, the Flaming Tables Match between Jimmy Havoc and Wolfgang and the Mark Haskins vs. Chris Renfrew grudge match. Regal begins to thank the crowd for their time before he is interrupted by Dave Finlay. The Northern Irish veteran confronts the boss after demanding the fans stop booing him. This only riles them up even more. He cuts to the chase and reminds us that Big Damo demanded a shot at the EPW British National Champion. Finlay warns Regal that if The Beast From Belfast doesn't get what he desires, he is going to tear the roster to shreds. The commissioner acknowledges the request however isn't going to bow to the threats of any wrestler in the locker room. He is willing to give Damo the opportunity to prove himself next week in a #1 Contender's Match against a man who is also looking for a chance to get another look in to the title picture; 'The Iron Man' Joe Coffey. The fans go nuts at the prospect of this heavyweight showdown. This isn't quite what Finlay asked for however he seems pleased. The segment closes with the two veterans exchanging words. Moustache Mountain vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans Zack Gibson isn't afraid of expressing his displeasure of the negative reaction him and his partner received on their way down to the ring. Liverpool's Number One reminds us that he and his partner ran through three teams in last week's gauntlet and their opponents only beat one therefore they are the true #1 contenders. You can't deny their impressive display in last week's match however Moustache Mountain were the last men standing. They are going to have to deal with it but they do get a chance to take on the #1 contenders right now. Trent Seven and Tyler Bate are welcomed to the ring with an arena filled with cheers. Their opponents waste no time attacking them as they step in through the ropes. Gibson and Drake take control in the first few minutes. Zack, a former EPW British Tag Team Champion in his own right, targets the right shoulder of Tyler Bate to soften up for the Shankley Gates. His partner James Drake does the same and the heels repeatedly cut off the 20-year old rookie. The Grizzled Young Veterans execute the Death Sentence for the first near fall of the match. After controlling the match for another couple of minutes, Tyler Bate catches Liverpool's Number One with an Axe Bomber. He then follows up with the Bop and Bang, a Brainbuster and a Diving European Uppercut from the second rope. James Drake charges in to attack but is thrown across the ring with an Exploder Suplex. The rookie then tags in a fiery Trent Seven. The Bombardier of Battery knocks down both of his opponents with several Clotheslines before nailing Gibson with a Spinning Backfist and a Vertical Suplex for a two count. The Liverpool native turns the tables with an Arm Wringer. He target Trent Seven's arm this time and attempts to apply the Shankley Gates. Seven manages to roll out before blasting his opponent with the Seven Stars Lariat. As James Drake tags himself in, he quickly drops the legal man with his finisher; the Sit-Out DDT. He goes for a pinfall however Tyler Bate breaks it with a 450 Splash. The people pop for the high-risk move. Bate then tags himself in with lots of crowd support. He finishes Drake off with the Tyler Driver '97 for a three count. Moustache Mountain pick up the victory. As their arms are raised, the commentary teams praise the efforts of both teams and the fans applaud the entertaining opening match. The #1 contenders salute the crowd from the turnbuckles. In the mean time, we are taken to the back where The Kings of the North are watching on a monitor. They don't look happy at the positive performance by their upcoming challengers. RJ Singh is standing by for an interview in the locker room with Strangler Davis. The newcomer has made an impact since arriving two weeks ago when he attacked Rampage Brown and then took reigning champion Jack Gallagher to the limit in a singles match last week. Strangler tells us he came here to make an impact. He's done exactly that however his recent success is missing one thing; a victory. There is no doubt he is capable of picking up some winning form. Davis claims that the fear of the locker room is what stands in his way. He will therefore take exactly what he wants and we will find out on next week's two-hour special in Manchester exactly what he desires here in English Pro Wrestling. Tables Match Wolfgang vs. Chief Deputy Dunne This is a warm-up match arranged by EPW British Hardcore Champion Jimmy Havoc for his challenger ahead of the first-ever Flaming Tables Match for the belt next week. Wolfgang drags a table down to the ring with him and looks focused at the task at hand. Chief Deputy Dunne returns after a month sidelined with a neck injury. This probably isn't the ideal scenario to be making a comeback however Dunne warns Wolfgang that 'the fun stops here' and he will be in no fit state to challenge for any title belt next week. This only frustrates The Regulator who goes right on the attack as the bell sounds. He delivers a Running Corner Splash, a Pendulum Backbreaker and a Moonsault from the second rope right off the bat. The self-appointed Anti-Fun Police is struggling already. He appears to have picked up a knock but Wolfgang still takes the opportunity to retrieve the table he brought down to the ring from ringside. After setting it up, he places Dunne on the table before climbing the ropes to execute the Howling. He is interrupted by the image of Jimmy Havoc on the video screen lighting up a table before he can dive though. The Regulator watches on whilst the EPW British Hardcore Champion declares that he will take pleasure in watching the skin of the wolf burn next week. This message sends chills down the spines of everybody in Barnsley and the viewing audience. In the mean time, Chief Deputy Dunne rolls off the table and joins Wolfgang on the top rope. Both men exchange punches. Dunne then attempts to nail his opponent with the Superplex through the table below. He cannot lift him though. The Regulator uses his strength advantage to lift his opponent and launches him through the table with the Wasteland to end the match. Wolfgang wins despite the distraction. As his bell rings and his music plays, he remains on the top rope. He then slowly motions a belt around his waist. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness send us to an interview conducted earlier this week by RJ Singh. The interviewer caught up with Will Ospreay who hasn't been present in around a month after being defeated by Rampage Brown at EPW Live #60. Singh firstly asks Ospreay where he has been. The Aerial Assassin makes it clear that it was a voluntary sabbatical purely because he was burnt out. He admits he had worn himself out with the style he wrestles against the top competition in the country and that would tire any man out especially with the mindset he has been in. RJ then focuses on what he meant by 'the mindset he has been in'. Ospreay takes us back to the inaugural title tournament where he fell at the final hurdle in the grand finale against Marty Scurll. It was a real fall from grace for him. The Aerial Assassin had only known progression since the start of his career and had never suffered a loss quite like that every before. It caused him to really doubt himself and was the catalyst of his change in attitude. He informs us that over the past month he has had the chance to really re-evaluate his career. Will isn't proud of what he has become. He can now see that it effected his in-ring success too. The high-flyer from Essex finally announces that he will be making his return to the ring and he intends on getting his career back on track. This statement wraps up the interview before RJ wishes Ospreay luck on his return. Could the humbling by Rampage Brown have caused an attitude adjustment in Will Ospreay? Non-Title Match Viper vs. Bea Priestley The champion stomps down the aisle to chants of her name. Her opponent is slightly hesitant in the early stages due to the sheer size and strength disadvantage that Viper has over her. Eventually Priestley rakes the eyes to gain some ground and even executes a Diving Tornado DDT. Viper kicks out with authority at one. She immediately makes the comeback with several knife-edge chops in the corner. The champ then launches her across the ring with a Gorilla Press Slam. As Bea slowly climbs to her feet, Viper watches in anticipation. She then drops her with a Spinebuster before running the ropes and pinning her opponent for a three count with the Running Seated Senton. The match is over nearly as quick as it begun. Viper is victorious. She is handed back her title gold and Jessika Carr raises the arm of the winner. The most dominant female in the history of English Pro Wrestling just made a statement ahead of her title defence against Kay Lee Ray next week. After the ring is cleared, the crowd are delighted at the arrival of Jack Gallagher. The EPW British National Champion is decked out in a classy looking suit as he takes in cheers on his way down to the ring. The Extraordinary Gentleman looks like he means business as he hits the squared circle and tells us he made the same mistake two weeks in a row. That mistake was to take his eyes off of Marty Scurll. He then tells us that The Villain has his full attention this week and is ready for a fight if he wants one. The champ has challenged his rival to come down for a little preview of what he has to expect next week. After waiting for a while, it becomes clear that Scurll isn't going to answer. Gallagher slowly begins to loosen his tie with an angry look on his face. The usually well-mannered fellow tears off his blazer, tosses it to the floor and declares that sometimes there are times in life when a gentleman has to take business in to his own hands. The champion then leaves the ring looking for a fight. Nigel McGuinness confirms on commentary that Marty Scurll is backstage somewhere and it looks like Jack Gallagher is on the hunt. He tears through the curtain with an eye for the EPW All England Champion. As he walks down the corridor looking through each door he walks past, William Regal eventually catches up with the champion. The commissioner tries to hold him back. The two have a struggle before Gallagher shoves his boss out of the way. This is extremely uncharacteristic of our champion. It is clear Marty Scurll has gotten in to his head. Regal hits his face on the wall as he falls to the floor. He gets up and security rush to the scene. The commissioner orders his champion to calm himself down as mountains of security pull him away. Once he sees blood trickle from his nostril, the commissioner tells security to kick him out of the building. He then walks back in to the office to clean himself up. The camera then turns around and Marty Scurll is watching from the other side of the corridor with a huge grin on his face. Jack Gallagher is playing right in to The Villain's hands. Will the mind games result in Scurll becoming the EPW British Undisputed Champion? Non-Title Match Joe Coffey & Mark Haskins vs. The Kings of the North (with Dave Finlay) The former rivals appear to be on the same page after making their way down to the ring. They individually have lots at stake next week on an individual basis however know that they cannot afford to take the reigning EPW British Tag Team Champions lightly. Dave Finlay leads his men down to the ring. The Kings of the North choose to target the smaller Mark Haskins early on. The high-flyer eventually fight back with a Dropkick, a Headscissors Takedown and a Springboard Leg Drop on Bonesaw to turn the tables. He then tags out to Joe Coffey but can't help himself when the opportunity to nail Damien Corvin with a Tope Suicida arises. In the mean time, The Iron Man dominates Bonesaw in the ring. Joe Coffey will get his opportunity to become the #1 contender again when he faces Big Damo next week. He proves his worth by deliver a Running Corner Splash, a German Suplex and the Giant Swing. As Coffey rallies the crowd up for the Discus Lariat, Dave Finlay hops up on to the apron for the distraction. Chris Roberts has zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour though and immediately bans the Irish veteran from ringside. Joe Coffey then knocks him off the apron to add salt to the wounds. As he turns his attention back to the ring, the illegal man Damien Corvin has knocked down Haskins at ringside and executes the Royal Mutilation on Coffey. His partner slowly crawls over. The official counts however The Iron Man gets his arm up just before the three. Corvin's finishing move wasn't enough to put him down. The Kings of the North are not done yet though. They get the big Scotsman in position for the Belfast Boot. Mark Haskins comes to his partner's rescue though with a Missile Dropkick. He quickly tags himself in after sending Corvin back out to ringside with a clothesline over the ropes and begins to apply the Low Sharpshooter to Bonesaw. The crowd are up off their feet. Suddenly Chris Renfrew appears at ringside. This causes Haskins to release the hold and fend him off with a Baseball Slide but as he turns back around, Bonesaw wipes him out with the Spear. He hooks the leg. Corvin holds off Coffey. The Kings of the North pick up the pinfall victory. Bonesaw and Corvin waste no time celebrating and quickly flee to the back with a win under their belt. Chris Renfrew is grinning to himself at ringside. Once Haskins recovers, he chases his arch-enemy to the backstage area. They reach the gorilla position and Haskins is jumped by Renfrew and The Kings of the North. Meanwhile in the ring, Joe Coffey climbs to his feet. The Iron Man looks up at the tron to see what is going on. He goes to leave the ring to assist Haskins however is dragged back in by Big Damo who drops him with a One-Handed Electric Chair Drop. The show closes with The Beast From Belfast applying the Cu Chullain's Wrath in the middle of the ring to his opponent next week. The venue fills with boos as he pulls back on the submission with bad intentions. |

Big match Regal made with Joe Coffey taking on the big man. Pulling for Coffey, though I have a feeling O’Connor will come out on top. Good to see Ospreay back in the mix. He’s been one of the names I recognize as being an EPW guy. I’ll admit I almost didn’t notice he was gone, but nothing wrong with taking time to recover and evaluate things. No surprises with Viper on this night. She’s ready for her next challenger. Unexpected actions by Gallagher. Looks like Scurll may have the upper hand at the moment. Give the assist to Finlay’s crew’s stolen win to Renfrew. Rough way for the night to end for Haskins and Coffey. |
