-Showcase taping- Hirai Kawato def. Brian Knight Asrial Major w/Serena Moon and Skyler Raye def. Natsumi Maki Heath Slater def. Jake Something to retain the Ironman Championship Jay White attempted to catch Slater off guard after the bell, but Slater was able to fight him off. Eric Bischoff is the ring when the Action Zone goes live. He’s out to address what went down at Battle Ground involving the Queen of the Ring and Women’s Champion Kana, and her altercation with Trish Stratus. He summons both ladies to the ring. Kana comes out first, with both Karen Sato and Beth Phoenix. When Trish comes out, she the entire women’s roster behind her. They surround the ring as Trish enters. Trish can be heard telling both Bischoff and Kana that this very much involves all of them just as much. Bischoff allows Trish to speak first, and the veteran tears into Kana’s ability to lead without putting herself first. Trish questions on Kana’s ‘win’ being able to stand. Bischoff says he will address that tonight. Trish mentioned that history has shown that a lot of people in this business that hold power get corrupted by it. Charlotte can be heard yelling at Kana, accusing Kana of using her. Preventing Natalya from competing at a high level is an insult to someone of Natalya’s talent, and the heart and dedication she shows. Putting one’s self in a title match is one thing, but coming out and blatantly buying the championship, that’s the last straw. Trish lists of all the championships she’s won in XCW, not once did she have to make a cash bribe. She’s had her fair share of loses, she’s been beat up, she’s been injured, but she was one who went down fighting. She’s recovered and stands before everyone as someone worthy of earning the title of legend. Trish calls Kana the opposite, which Kana looks like she feels disrespected being spoken down to like that. Karen attempts to calm Kana down. Trish tells Kana if she wants to restore her credibility, then Kana must prove to everyone she deserves her spot. Karen Sato takes the mic and says Kana can beat anyone on the roster on any day. Bischoff is glad to hear that because he has an idea. Each show from now until Season’s Beatings, Kana must defend her championship. And if she somehow holds on to the title then she will defend it against Trish. Trish states she likes that idea, but she states that the title of Queen of the Ring is more to her liking. Trish mentions she wants to give Kana a taste of her own meditation. Trish states that if she wins and becomes the Queen of the Ring, her first act will be to hold up the women's championship and present it to the winner of the women’s Survival match in January. Bischoff likes what he hears, and to make sure Kana is unable to stack the deck in her favour, he is officially putting Kana in probation. She is still in charge of the division, however her actions will be carefully monitored. Bischoff tells Kana to return to the locker room and prepare for her match tonight. She’ll defend the women’s championship in tonight’s main event. Her opponent will be announced later, but it will be one of the ladies that is ringside…with the exception of Emma Matthews. He orders her to step in the ring. Bischoff does give Kana a little bit of credit, pulling a card out of Harley Race’s playoff and offer up 25Gs to make getting the belt an easy task. However as Trish pointed out he will not permit a title change like that to happen on his watch without repercussions. He tells Kana to stop for a moment, she’s by the curtain. Bischoff tells Kana that she better have another briefcase with 25 grand in there, because he wants it on his desk before the end of the night, fining her for her conduct at the pay per view. As far as Emma Matthews is concerned, she will be in action tonight. He mentions that he hopes her boy toy Chuck Taylor can hear him because to kick off the show tonight they will be in a special tag match. Tonight the two of them will face From Russia with Rage. This way he can kill two birds with one stone as he has to find a new challenger for Wade Barrett. Last Sunday was the easiest money she’s ever earn in her life, but tonight she’ll really earn her pay, if there’s anything left of her and Chuck Taylor after all’s said and done. Also for their participation, and if they are victorious, they will then compete in a match, and the winner of that match will take part in a number one contender’s match next week against a yet to be named opponent. Bischoff orders everyone else backstage. Before the ring can clear, Matthews tells Bischoff to wait. She says that it’s unfair for Chuck Taylor to be involved for something he had no involvement in, even more so since he’d have no time to prepare to wrestle. She shocks everyone and tells Bischoff to make it a handicapped match. She knows what From Russia with Rage can do, and she’s willing to take her medicine. Bischoff asks if she’s sure and she nods in confirmation. Bischoff tells her she’s got more guts than she does brains, but he grants the request. Footage from earlier in the day is shown as Heath Slater is stretching in the ring after the ring crew finished setting it up. Slater left Battle Ground with the Ironman Championship and he still has it in his possession. One of the guys on the ring crew that is still around knows this and he sneaks behind slater and waves in referee Justin Kronan, who’s still in his street clothes, but is still a licensed official. The ring crew guy rolls up Slater, but only gets a two count. Slater can’t believe the attempt that was just pulled and voices his disapproval of it. Another one comes in and does the same, however the second one has a handful of Slaters pants and he gets the win. Slater’s livid. The first guy grabs the second one by the back of the head and introduces his face into the top buckle before shoving him down and pinning him. Slater’s not liking what he’s seeing and he demands that the first guy lay down and give him his belt back. Slater looks like he’ll make him if the guy doesn’t comply. Luckily the guy does so willingly and Slater pins him to get the belt back. The two ring crew guys then leave the area, and an annoyed Slater resumes what he was doing. From Russia with Rage makes their entrance as the ring has cleared except for Emma Matthews. Referee Chris Truax joined her while the last segment played. Emma Matthews vs From Russia with Rage w/Lana After the bell sounds, Rages calls for a mic. The Supernova of Superstars says even thought a shot at the heavyweight title is up for grabs tonight, he feels that what is before him is far inferior to him and his partner. He offers Matthews the option to lay down and save herself the beating of a dozen life times. Rage looks sincere about it. She turns to look at Rusev and Lana, there’s no movement from them. When she turns around Rage connects with a spear. Rage pulls Matthews off the canvas before looking at Rusev, telling his partner no mercy and that he wants the title. Rage delivers a rikishi driver to Matthews. Rage with the one foot pin, Matthews is done. Members of Team FIST come out to assist Matthews backstage. Good thing they were close by, it doesn’t look like Rusev or Rage want to wait for her to be peeled off the canvas. Rob Rage vs Rusev After the bell the next match begins instantly. Rage made a loud and clear statement about what he wants. Rusev appears to be fine with that, and the two partners go at it. Lana joins the announce team at the table. She isn’t surprised by Rage’s actions, and as unified of a unit they are she expects them to show no mercy if it means one of them has the chance to become the number one contender. Their fight soon ends up on the outside. Both men are so confused on the other that they both end up getting counted out by referee Chris Truax. After they hear they decision Rage calls Rusev a fucking dummy for not trying to stop the ref’s count. Rusev returns fire verbally, and it doesn’t take them long before they resume. The show takes its first commercial break as the two continue their fight. When the show returns cameras catch up with From Russia with Rage battling backstage. Lana’s desperately trying to get them to stop. Backstage officials come in to attempt to defuse the situation. Heath Slater competed earlier in the evening on the Showcase portion of the show, and Zack Ryder is stalking the shower area that Slater is in, waiting for him to come out and catch him by surprise. Referee Eddington James is present. The second Slater comes out Ryder jumps him. After delivering a few blows Ryder grabs Slater, moves the cameraman aside and tosses Slater back into the shower. Eddington James follows and counts a pin. Ryder comes out of the shower stall and looks for the Ironman belt. He spots it on a bench and grabs hold of it before leaving. Standing by with Hutch Henries elsewhere backstage is Chris Jericho. Jericho doesn’t want to take anything away from Wade Barrett, however Jericho feels that he was robbed, feels that he was screwed out of the title by someone who doesn’t work for this company. Jericho states that if it wasn’t for an outsider then the match with Barrett could have ended differently. Jericho is aware that Bischoff has made plans for a number one contender’s match next week, however he issues a challenge to Barrett to a rematch next week. Before he can expand on his comments he is jumped from behind. It’s clear to see that Kenny Omega has some how got past security and again targets Jericho. Security is quick to get on Omega and again pull him off. Omega attempts to fight free and get some more shots in on Jericho. Eventually they overpower Omega and proceed to remove him from the building. Eric Bischoff is nearby and he overhears what’s going on and goes to check it out. When he sees Omega and Jericho being held a part he demands an explanation. Omega tells Bischoff that Jericho embarrassed him last month, and he wants revenge. Bischoff looks reluctant, but he then gets an idea. He looks towards a wall and tells one of the security guards to bring over a nearby trash can. Bischoff asks Omega how Omega wants Jericho, which Omega tells Bischoff he would do anything to give even with Jericho. Bischoff looks interested when he hears the word ‘anything.’ He tells Omega that if he is to sign Omega vs Jericho then Bischoff wants it to be just that, Omega vs Jericho, not Omega and the Bullet Club vs Jericho, noticing Omega wearing a BC shirt. Bischoff says he’ll make the match Omega takes off the shirt and put it wear it belongs, glancing towards the trash can. Omega’s fired up and he tells Bischoff he’ll do him one better. He rips it off Hulk Hogan style and tosses the ripped shirt in the can. Bischoff informs both men the match will take place at Season’s Beatings, and the contract signing will be next week, stating his lawyers are going to have a field day drawing up that match contract. For now however Bischoff wants Omega out of his sight. Team FIST (Gran Akuma and Icarus) vs Idris Abraham and Hakim Zane The local area competitors didn’t fare well against Akuma and Icarus. They got a little bit of offence in, but Team FIST was the overall aggressors. Akuma finished things off with the Rubik’s Cube on Zane for the pinfall. Following the bell Akuma calls for the mic and state that with their win tonight Team FIST should be the number one contenders for the tag team championship, not the Hardys who got their shot by simply putting the new champs on the spot. If Matt and Jeff feel they deserve to face the Motor City Machine guns then they should have no problem putting their title shot on the line against him and Icarus next week. Import star Hirai Kawato is saying his goodbyes to members of the backstage crew, having competed in his last match in North America as part of his tour and is about to head for home. When it’s time for him to head out the door he notices Brad Maddox and a couple of unknown guys, though judging by what they’re wearing they’re part of the backstage crew, are battling with Zack Ryder. Big T is also present, deal with the two. One of them grabs a trash can in hopes of weakening Ryder’s backup. Kawato watches from a distance and he only approaches when it appears that everyone in the scene wore each other out. He assess the situation and notices referee Amy Kanzaki is there. He gestures to her to count as he covers Ryder. He gets a count of three and his handed the belt. He’s heading out the door with the Ironman title. On commentary Don Callis can be heard calling for someone to stop Kawato. Seconds later he bumps into James R. Kennedy, and Nick Watts attacks Kawato. Amy Kanazki is still in the area and attempts to get order on the beat down. Kennedy calls of Watts. Kennedy looks down at Kawato and decides to pin him. The official counts three and Kennedy’s the new Ironman Champion. He grabs the belt and gives Kawato a parting shot kick and gives him a free tip, telling him not to get in the way of James R. Kennedy and the Maniacal Nick Watts. Watts and Kennedy head into the arena as Jason Kronan mentions on commentary that Watts is scheduled to take on Bo Dallas later on tonight. Bischoff’s had a stressful night as he looks to have a moment of quite in his off. AJ Styles enters and asks the boss if he saw his match with Brian Kendrick at Battle Ground. Styles feels that the referee made a bad call in disqualifying him and he wants a re-match. Bischoff backs the decision of the referee, but did note that Kendrick was the one who originally brought the belt into play. While Bischoff won’t grant a rematch directly, he will give Styles a chance to earn one. Bischoff mentions at an upcoming live event Jack Swagger is set to face Damien Sandow. The winner of that match will face AJ Styles on the Action Zone next week. The winner of that match will face Brian Kendrick for the Canadian National Championship at Season’s Beatings. Styles is cool with that and thanks Bischoff for the match. Before he can leave, Lana enters the office. Lana wants to inquire about the heavyweight title number one contender situation. Bischoff’s glad Lana brought that up. The out come surprised him. He confirms he was waiting to hear on the status of Chris Jericho before deciding on an opponent for Rusev or Rage. He has an idea, but he wants both Rusev and Rage present. Lana leaves to retrieve them. Tye Dillinger vs Jack Swagger w/Zeb Colter Dillinger’s looking to bounce back after losing the Internet Championship to Sami Zayn, while Swagger is trying to shake off his involvement in the tag championship match at the same event. Zeb Colter joins the commentary team and explains the pairing of how the Swagger and Zack Ryder pairing came about, which Colter felt Swagger deserved to have gold around his waist so when Big T presented the opportunity, Colter felt the need to take advantage of it. However Colter admits in hindsight it wasn’t a good idea considering it was Zack Ryder holding the other half of the tag titles after all. Both men look to be in good form, however Swagger is the better man on this night, forcing Dillinger to submit to the ankle lock, following a gutwrench falling powerbomb. Colter enters the ring following the bell and raises Swagger’s arm up as the show cuts to commercial. When the show returns From Russia with Rage is in Bischoff’s office. Bischoff gives the two men an offer. Two can have a rematch, however a spot in a number one contender’s match is not good enough he feels. He wants something more important to be at stake. Bischoff reminds them that 2017 is almost over, which means 2018 is approaching. With a new year means the road to Starcade will officially begin. He offers the #30 spot in the ever important match known as Survival, which the winner will participate in Starcade’s main event against whoever the world champion is at the time. There is a price, however, the two men must pay. It pains him to do it, but after seeing what went down earlier, he feels From Russia with Rage must part ways. If they agree to that stipulation then match will go down at Season’s Beatings. Rage doesn’t like the sound of that, however he feels Bischoff may be on to something. Rage could tell that Rusev would love a shot at the title, and as we all know Rage won’t stop at anything to have the gold around his wait once again. He’s willing to have it be whatever happens happens, and if this is the end of From Russia with Rage then they do so on their terms, then when the time comes they show the world that they are still the top two dominant athletes in not just XCW, not just all of wrestling, but in all of combat sports. Rusev gives it some thought with Lana and it appears they’re on the same page. Rusev extends his hand and Rage takes it. Bischoff looks on and says he’s glad to see the two men have come to an understanding. Rage turns to Bischoff to say something else, but he gets maybe a few words out before Rusev grabs Rage and gives the Supernova of Superstars a spinebuster, putting Rage through Bischoff’s desk. Rusev stands above Rage and states he will be held back no longer, and that it’s Rusev’s time. Lana looks to be surprised by this as Rusev leaves the office. Before the action in the ring continues Hutch Henries is shown standing by with Wade Barrett. Barrett is asked about his win over Chris Jericho, which Barrett can’t help but wonder what might have happened if Kenny Omega did not interfere. He’s not sure if Jericho is Omega’s true agenda or not, however he will be keeping an eye on it. As far Jericho goes though, if Jericho wants a rematch Barrett will grant one. Nick Watts w/ James R. Kennedy vs Bo Dallas Kennedy’s timing that brought him possession of the Ironman Championship made Dallas forget about Watts for a moment and went after Kennedy on the outside. Referee Jimmy Korderas stopped his ten count to go to the floor to count the pin Dallas had on Kennedy, which Watts was paying attention and broke up the count. Watts took the action back to the ring after breaking the pin, and the action remained inside the ropes for the remainder of the bout. As Watts was finishing of Dallas, Heath Slater ran out to ringside and floored Kennedy with a cutter when Kennedy turned to the crowd to put over his new client’s soon win. Referee Amy Kanazki was close behind. Watts got the pin in the ring, and one second after his theme started it was cut and replaced by that of the one man band as Slater won the Ironman title. Slater took off, and luckily for the new champ Watts helped his manager back to his feet rather than hunt him down, for the time being anyway. Before show takes its final break of the evening a match for next week’s show is announced by the broadcast team. Next week on the program Rusev will go one on one with Harry Smith. Rusev caused Smith a match against Derek Wylde at Battle Ground, which Smith vowed to return to the favour. Rusev does have Rage at Season’s Beatings, but first he must get past Smith, who like Rage is also a former World Heavyweight Champion. When the show returns Hutch Henries is in the interview area with Internet Champion Sami Zayn. Zayn’s about to shoot some promo footage for upcoming house shows when Eric Bischoff interrupts, stating his has an announcement regarding the heavyweight title’s number one contender. Due to the actions of Kenny Omega, and the result of From Russia with Rage’s match earlier tonight, he’s been forced to go a different route. Next week we will still find out who will become number one contender. In the spirit of the season he will give four men the opportunity to face Wade Barrett at Season’s Beatings. Bischoff is asked about the challenge put out by Jericho to Barrett before Omega’s arrival earlier tonight, as well as Barrett’s acceptance. Bischoff states if Jericho wins the championship then Jericho will pull double duty at Season’s Beatings. He confirms Chuck Taylor, Nick Watts, and The Miz as three participants. He says he is still undecided on the final one, but before he can expand on that he is approached by Zeb Colter. Colter offers a solution to Bischoff’s problem. Colter thanks Bischoff for giving Swagger a chance to contender for the Canadian National Championship, however he feels that Swagger will give the world title contender’s match more drawing power if he is in that match instead. Colter agrees that to be fair to Damien Sandow, his client will forfeit his scheduled match against Sandow. Bischoff gives it a thought and makes it official. Due to the forfeit Sandow will face AJ Styles, and Jack Swagger will be added to the to the four way elimination match. Colter thanks Bischoff and tells him he won’t regret the decision. After the ring introductions are made Kana tells referee Amy Kanazi, who remained following counting the fall for Heath Slater’s Ironman title win, not to start the match until the members of Oedo Tai that aren’t in this match leave ringside, claiming Act having four people in her corner is not fair. Don Callis agrees with Kana’s math, but before the group can leave, Trish Stratus comes out. She tells Oedo Tai while she gets the logic Kana using, doesn’t mean she’ll allow Kana to turn it into a numbers advantage herself. She tells Oedo Tai she’s got this. Kana may have Sato and Phoenix in her corner, but Act has Trish, which Act likes the sound of. Women’s Championship Kana w/ Karen Sato and Beth Phoenix vs Act Yasukawa w/Trish Stratus Even with Trish’s presence, the fact that Kana had two women in her corner to Act’s one did aid the champion in getting the advantage underhandedly. Trish could only tolerate so much before she went over to the opposing team’s corner and pulled Sato off the apron, who was distracting the referee, and knocked her down. Trish demanded Sato get her ass up, with Sato begging off, until Phoenix clubbed Trish from behind. Sato gets back to her feet and she assists Phoenix in taking Trish apart. Inside the ring Act mounts a comeback, finishing it off with a superkick. Act goes for the pin, the title looks like it will change hands, but not if Phoenix has anything to say about it as she yanks referee Amy Kanazki through the ropes and to the outside. The official lands on the outside pretty rough, allowing Sato and Phoenix to enter the ring and beat down the challenger. Their fun is cut short, not by the other members of Oedo Tai, but by Yoshiko. The Intercontinental Champion hits the ring and sends Sato flying over the top rope. When Phoenix notices she’s the only one attacking Act, she feels someone tapping her on the shoulder. She turns around and sees Yoshiko, who dares her to take a swing. They start trading blows until Yoshiko ducks one and counters with a choke from behind. Phoenix attempts to fight free, however Yoshiko has it locked in tight and doesn’t let go until she can tell Phoenix is choked out. After releasing the hold, Kana confronts her. Kana’s not pleased with Yoshiko’s actions. From what it Don Callis is saying on commentary Yoshiko’s days could be numbered. Kana slaps Yoshiko across the face before and after yelling more foreign speech at her. Yoshiko lifts up Act and puts her in a neckhang. Yoshiko looks back at Kana, who looks on with a grin. Yoshiko plants Act with a neck hang powerbomb. Yoshiko does not look pleased with herself as she kicks the ropes in frustration before leaving the ring. Kana says something else and Yoshiko helps the referee back into the ring. Kana decides to add further insult and pin Act with one finger. She gets one, she gets two, the official gets pulled out of the ring again, this time by Yoshiko. Yoshiko storms back to the ring, and when Kana confronts her. Before Kana can get a word out Yoshiko grabs her by the neck and lifts her up. Yoshiko’s forced to let go before she can drop Kana the hard way as the champion managed to fire some black mist into Yoshiko’s face. Yoshiko screams like she was shot, and Kana leaves the ring quickly. Don Callis calls for Yoshiko to get medical attention immediately, those any one who gets close to her has to be avoid being taken out as the mist has her blinded and she can’t tell who is friend or foe. Oedo Tai come out as well to assist in the matter, and they have better luck getting her to calm down, but it’s clear Yoshiko isn’t in the best medical condition as the show comes to a close. |

- Must admit I got a laugh out of the handicap match. Can imagine Rob Rage would have near on killed Emma Matthews with the Spear. Brutal stuff! - Hope to see more upwards momentum from Jack Swagger following the hiccup at Battleground. As Colter said, his partner was Zack Ryder after all. - Heath Slater got lucky tonight. The security winning the Ironman Title earlier in the night gave me a chuckle too. - Happy to see Yoshiko take a step up to hang with the main eventers in the women's division. She has been great as of late vs. Katie Lea. |
