EPW RELOADED MATCH #1: The South Pacific Power Trip (with Dahlia Black) vs. The C.C.K goes to a time limit draw when the match hits the fifteen minutes. William Regal appears on the video screen. The commissioner appears impressed by the match however both teams will face off against their respective tag team partners next week for spots in the upcoming Battle For The Briefcase Ladder Match. EPW RELOADED MATCH #2: Joseph Conners defeated Dave Mastiff (with El Ligero) via after he avoided his opponent's finisher; the Big Splash, kicks the big man in the groin which the referee misses and then rolls him up with a School Boy for the surprise three count. After the match, the victor steps to the outside to get in the face of El Ligero. The Righteous Killer slaps The Masked Sensation but is put on his arse with a stiff right hook. EPW RELOADED MATCH #3: Strangler Davis defeated Wolfgang via referee stoppage to retain his EPW British Hardcore Championship with the Stranglehold. The champion takes the microphone after being announced as the winner and throws out a challenge to anybody in the locker room to face him for his belt next week. As the show ends, Davis declares himself the new lord of hardcore. EPW Live #71 As Reloaded finishes, a video recap of last week's two-hour special plays to begin the Live broadcast. Big Damo became the new EPW British Undisputed Champion by defeating Jack Gallagher in the main event. We also saw Strangler Davis win the EPW British Hardcore Championship from Jimmy Havoc, Moustache Mountain and Kay Lee Ray retain their respective titles, Pete Dunne made his return as his brother Chief Deputy Dunne's partner in the four-team elimination match and Will Ospreay beat Joseph Conners in singles action only to be jumped by long time fan favourite Mark Haskins after the match. Tonight's episode takes place in a sold out venue in Nottingham. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness welcome the viewing audience before running down the scheduled card; Mark Haskins returns to the EPW ring to face off against El Ligero, a six-woman tag team match and Marty Scurll battles Joe Coffey with a spot in the Battle For The Briefcase Ladder Match in the main event. Before we get to the action, Jim Smallman steps in to the ring and welcomes out our new EPW British Undisputed Champion who wants to address the crowd. Big Damo stomps down to the ring with his new piece of gold draped over his shoulder. The Beast From Belfast is booed by the majority of the fans however he is not phased by the negative reaction. What he cares about is that he is in possession of the EPW British Undisputed Championship and he proves that by hoisting the belt above his head when he reaches the ring. The champ then tears the microphone from the ring announcer's hand. He demands the fans shut their mouths but this only riles them up even more and this angers the man beast. Once the crowd settle, he explains that because he has unrivalled brawn, people assumed he didn't have the brains to get to the top. He reveals that he played the long game to get his revenge on The Kings of the North and he used them in the process. Dave Finlay eventually prove that he couldn't hang with a champion after he lost out embarrassingly to Kid Lykos two weeks ago. Big Damo proclaims that he now stands alone with no one riding his coat tails as the very best in English Pro Wrestling. No one can deny that the EPW British Undisputed Championship is the richest prize this nation has to offer. The mood changes when 'Toreador' blares out over the speakers. Out walks Jack Gallagher. The new champion grins from the ring as the ex-champion talks on the stage with a microphone on his own. He keeps his statement short and sweet. The Extraordinary Gentleman may have lost the fight but there is still a war between the two. He intends on getting his belt back. The crowd approve. The segment ends with Damo promising to hurt him again but this time the damage will be permanent. Mark Haskins (with Vicky Haskins) vs. El Ligero Will Ospreay makes his way down to ringside to join the commentary team at ringside. They look back at what happened between himself and Mark Haskins last week. The Aerial Assassin understands his former friend's frustrations however isn't one to take a beating lying down. Mark Haskins is accompanied to the ring by his wife Vicky who appeared by his side last week too. The couple stared down Ospreay at ringside before stepping in to the ring. The tension is clearly at boiling point. The all-rounder from Oxford needs to focus on the task at hand this evening though as he faces one of EPW's top high-flyers. El Ligero charges down to the ring to a positive reaction from the crowd. As he steps up to the second rope to salute the crowd, he is dragged back down by his opponent in to a Bridging Back Suplex for a one count. The opening couple of minutes are fast which favour The Masked Sensation. After overwhelming Haskins with fast-paced offence, the Mexican high flyer is sent crashing down with a Tilt-A-Whirl Backbreaker. The aggressor rides the wave of momentum by locking on a Surfboard Stretch and then irish whipping Ligero back first in to the turnbuckles. Vicky Haskins takes great pleasure in watching her man dominate the contest over the next several minutes. Ospreay reminds us on commentary that El Ligero is resilient and can pull it back at any time. Mark Haskins tries to lock on the Star Armbar however The Masked Sensation rolls out and then catches him with his trademark strike; the El Booto. Ligero hooks the leg. The referee counts two. Haskins manages to kick out but this gives Ligero the opportunity to set up for his finishing manoeuvrer; the C4L. As he steps out on to the apron, Vicky Haskins holds on to Ligero's leg to stop him springing up to the rope. The official misses this completely whilst he is checking on Mark Haskins. Will Ospreay eventually charges round to run Vicky Haskins off. El Ligero then finally attempts the C4L but this time Haskins blasts him with a forearm to counter. He then follows up with a Death Valley Driver and then locks on the Low Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring. His opponent has nowhere to go. He taps out. Mark Haskins scores the victory in controversial fashion whilst his newfound enemy Will Ospreay is forced to watch from ringside. Whilst Vicky Haskins steps in to reward her husband with a victory kiss, Ligero rolls out to ringside and is helped to the back by Ospreay. William Regal is watching the show from his office when The Grizzled Young Veterans walk in evidently uninvited. Before the commissioner can even ask why they are here, Zack Gibson asks Regal if he knows who he is. The boss look confused whilst he announces himself as Liverpool's Number One, soon to be recognised as British wrestling's number one and soon to be recognised as the world's number one. He then points to his tag team partner James Drake and declares him as the fastest rising star in English Pro Wrestling. Regal still can't understand why they are here. Gibson then demands that they get a rematch at the EPW British Tag Team Championships and the pair want it tonight. The commissioner refuses to do so but admits that he was impressed by their showing last week. He is willing to give them another opportunity tonight. As they eagerly listen, he reveals that they will face off against one another in a singles match. Gibson and Drake refuse to fight until Regal tells them that a spot in the upcoming Battle For The Briefcase Ladder Match will be at stake. They both seem to want this match and reluctantly shake hands before leaving the office. That match will come right after a short break. Zack Gibson vs. James Drake We return with both men having made their entrances to the ring. The tag team partners discuss how this going to go down when the bell rings. Zack Gibson seems convinced that his partner is going to lay down for him however James Drake refuses to. The two end up agreeing that it will go down to whoever is the better man however Liverpool's Number One has other ideas when he blindsides Mr. Mayhem from behind with a nasty forearm. He then stomps down on the neck and locks on a nasty rest hold whilst the heat is fired at him from the crowd. The technician from Liverpool softens up the neck of his partner even more with an Inverted DDT and a Running Elbow Drop. He then attempts his finishing submission; the Shankley Gates. James Drake manages to battle out before the hold is applied and then marks his comeback with a Swinging Side Slam. The Blackpool born wrestler then makes a rare trip to the top rope where he flies off with a Frog Splash for a near fall. His opponent is clearly shocked at the outburst as he backs off in to the corner. Drake then charges forward to deliver a Step-Up High Knee. As he jumps up, he is caught and then tossed over the ropes by Gibson. Liverpool's Number One then bounces Drake's head on the turnbuckle, illegally rakes the eyes and then drops him with the Helter Skelter Brainbuster. The loud-mouth hooks the leg. The referee counts. He reaches three. Zack Gibson is the winner and will go on to compete in the Battle For The Briefcase Ladder Match in four weeks. The Nottingham fans fill the venues with jeers as Gibson takes to the turnbuckles to boast of his victory. Once he steps back down, James Drake is slowly getting up. Zack Gibson talks down at his tag team partner who steps up to face off with him. The two exchange some words however the losing party offers a handshake to which Gibson smugly grins and accepts. The fans boo even harder as The Grizzled Young Veterans continue as a united front. Before we head to the next break, William Regal approaches Jack Gallagher in the locker room. The commissioner saw what went down in the opening segment. He admits to being one of the former champion's biggest supporters however he unfortunately can't just give him a rematch for the title as that isn't policy here. The Extraordinary Gentleman understands. He doesn't want to be given a title shot, he wants to earn it like everybody else had to when he was the champion. Gallagher continues by asking the boss to give him anyone in next week's main event in a #1 contender's match. The commissioner has a quick think. He remembers that Martin Stone is returning next week and if he can beat the former multi-time champion then the next title shot is his. The two shake on it. Next week's main event is an instant classic in a true battle of new school versus old school with a title shot at stake. Six-Woman Tag Team Match Kay Lee Ray & The Demonic Sisterhood vs. Pollyanna Peppers, Laura Di Matteo & Session Moth Martina A replay is shown of what went down last week in the EPW British Women's Championship bout. Viper was screwed once again via interference from Noam Dar and also Bea Priestley and Nikki Storm meaning Kay Lee Ray retained the gold. The trio seem thick as thieves as they make their way down to the ring together. Mauro Ranallo regrettably informs us that Viper will be out for the foreseeable future thanks to being thrown through a table last week. The babyfaces waste no time making their way out and take out the heels in the ring to kick off the action early. After sending the trio running for the hills, Peppers, Di Matteo and Martina all fly through the ropes to wipe them out with Tope Suicidas. Jessika Carr eventually restores order in the ring. This gives Nikki Cross the chance to slow it down when she catches Laura Di Matteo with an Arm-Trap Neckbreaker. She then reigns down on the Italian underdog with repeated stomps whilst tagging in Bea Priestley. As Priestley strikes her opponent in the corner, the babyfaces will their partner on to get the hot tag. She is struck down each time though. Bea then delivers a Bridging German Suplex for a two count however Di Mateo rolls out and blasts her in the head with a shoot kick. This allows her to tag in Pollyanna Peppers who knocks The Demonic Sisterhood down with clotheslines, dropkicks and snapmares. As she tries to get the crowd behind her team, Kay Lee Ray sneaks in a tag. The champ climbs up to the ropes and takes Pollyanna out with a Missile Dropkick for a two count. She begins to take control but not without boasting to the fans in attendance. KLR slowly takes to the ropes. It looks like she intends on delivering the Swanton Bomb. Once she flies through the air, Peppers rolls out of the way and dives towards Martina for the tag. The Queen of Sesh Style gets a massive pop. She enters the fray with several Running Clotheslines to all three of her opponents. She then pulls off a Bronco Buster on Nikki Cross and then drills Bea Priestley with the Satellite DDT. Martina is showing exactly why she deserves to be looked at more seriously as a competitor. Kay Lee Ray cuts her off with a Chop Block however when she goes for the Gory Bomb, Session Moth Martina rolls her up in to a School Girl roll-up. The referee counts to three. Nottingham explodes as Session Moth Martina picks up a pinfall over the champion. Kay Lee Ray is fuming but is forced to watch the victor have her arm raised. As Pollyanna and Laura Di Matteo enter to congratulate her, she calls to ringside for some cans of beer. It's the only way The Queen of Sesh Style celebrates. Martina celebrates on the turnbuckles with a couple of cans whilst Kay Lee Ray and The Demonic Sisterhood back away up the ramp in disgust. Could we be looking at the next in line to challenge the champion? Once the ring is cleared, the mood sours as Chief Deputy Dunne makes his way out to the ring before the main event. The self-proclaimed leader of the anti-fun police is here to address the controversy surrounding his victory last week in the four-team elimination match when he shocked us all by unveiling his brother (and former EPW British National Champion) Pete Dunne as his partner. The Dunne Brothers picked up the win to earn themselves the next shot at the EPW British Tag Team Champions. Chief Deputy Dunne explains that his brother may not be a part of the roster however William Regal told him he could choose 'anybody' to be his partner. He has been to his lawyers and the commissioner must honour that commitment. His lawyers have also been looking deep in to the contract for the match and it states clearly that all champions in English Pro Wrestling must be under contract which means if they win, William Regal will be forced to sign his brother Pete to a full-time contract. Dunne smiles to himself when the crowd begin to boo at the statement. William Regal has heard quite enough and appears on the video screen from his office. He tells the smug superstar that he knows all the rules and regulations. The commissioner knows what is going on. Pete Dunne has gone to North America, been rejected and thinks he can just waltz on back here and run roughshod once again. He promises that won't be happening again because The Bruiserweight is not on the roster and over his dead body will he be winning any gold in this company. Regal finally announces that the EPW British Tag Team Championship Match between Moustache Mountain and The Dunne Brothers in four week's time will be contested in a Ladder Match at EPW Live #75: Ascension. The crowd explode at this announcement. Chief Deputy Dunne is raging but is put in his place when the champions appear from behind. Trent Seven and Tyler Bate drill the #1 contender with an Assisted Tyler Driver '97. The segment ends with Moustache Mountain approaching the camera and warning their former ally Pete Dunne that they've got unfinished business with him. Marty Scurll vs. Joe Coffey This match was made by the commissioner last week. The winner will qualify for the Battle For The Briefcase Ladder Match at EPW Live #75: Ascension. Both of these men were unsuccessful challengers to now former champion Jack Gallagher so they have a lot to prove. Nottingham is a split crowd for the entrances of The Iron Man and The Villain. Joe Coffey uses his strength to control the early stages of the contest. He pulls off a Running Clothesline in to the corner followed by a Running Powerslam and then a Running Elbow Drop. The Iron Man then rallies the crowd as he pulls of the Big Swing in the middle of the ring. As he climbs the ropes for a Diving Splash, Scurll catches up with him and nails him with an Enzuiguri to turn the tables. The ex-champ then pulls off a Superkick, a European Uppercut and Front Missile Dropkick in quick succession. This doesn't floor the Glaswegian heavyweight however he does significant damage by snapping his fingers which takes Coffey down to his knees. The Villain then approaches for the Crossface Chickenwing. He is shoved away and then tossed to the other side of the ring. The Iron Man then motions for his finishing move; the Discus Lariat. Coffey charges forward. Scurll ducks and springs off the middle rope for another Enzuiguri. This time Coffey blasts him in mid-air for the Discus Lariat. He hooks the leg. The referee counts. The crowd chant along. Marty Scurll manages to kick out at the very last second. Joe Coffey cannot believe it. The commentary team cannot recall a time anybody has kicked out of Joe Coffey's Discus Lariat. The angered Scot locks on a Boston Crab immediately. He is determined not to let this bout slip through his fingers. The Villain is scrambling for a way out. He can't reach the ropes but refuses to quit. Scurll desperately pulls the official's trousers down before wriggling to one side and pulling off a Low Blow to his opponent. As the referee turns back around after pulling his trousers back up, Marty runs the ropes to pull off a Tornado DDT transitioned in to the Crossface Chickenwing on Joe Coffey. The Iron Man won't tap but passes out in one of the most ruthless holds in the game. Marty Scurll picks up the controversial victory to earn his spot in the Battle For The Briefcase Ladder Match. He has his arm raised while receiving a mixed reception. Some detest Marty's villainous tricks where as some can't help but love him. Regardless of the fan response, he will compete for a shot at the EPW British Undisputed Championship at EPW Live #75: Ascension. |

Interesting decision by Regal to make two teams face themselves. Wondering how it'll play out. Bold statement by Davis, but he has proven he can back up his words and he is the champion at the current moment. Will have to wait and see how he fares. Nice mic spot to start the main show. Didn't expect the big man to say what he did, but looking forward to the rematch. Wondering how Gibson and Drake will be going forward after their singles match. Could jealousy and egos grow over time from this? Remains to be seen. Not sure if I would call Martina and her team's win an upset, but nice to see the three get some momentum from the win. Gotta give credit to the deputy for attempting to use a legal technicality to have Regal forced to give him a contract (though could Regal do the opposite and just take the title away from him if he were to win it with no contract?). Even if the ladder match isn't his preferred match of joice he got him and Pete a title match anyway. Doubt Regal will make CDD's path to the title match a smooth one. Scurll got lucky in the main. I know some refs would have seriously considered disqualifying him if he tried to pull down their pants. |
