RELOADED MATCH #1: BT Gunn defeated Joseph Conners via pinfall with the Gunshot. This was a grudge match after Conners walked out on Gunn when they were tag team partners last week. After the match, the victor blasted his opponent with a steel chair to really get some redemption. RELOADED MATCH #2: Jinny Couture defeated Session Moth Martina and Nixon Newell in a Triangle Elimination Match when she rolled up The Queen of Sesh Style with her feet on the ropes for extra leverage. This came immediately after Martina had eliminated Newell with her finishing move; the Satellite DDT. RELOADED MATCH #3: Moustache Mountain defeated Muscle, Steel & Sex Appeal via pinfall with the Assisted Spike Piledriver on Josh Bodom. Trent Seven and Tyler Bate celebrated their victory on the turnbuckles to end the show. Nathan Cruz and Josh Bodom both argued at ringside whilst this was all going on. EPW Live #80: The Only Way Is Essex Once Reloaded ends, a video recap of last week's show airs showing Martin Stone costing Big Damo a non-title match against Marty Scurll in the main event. We also saw Jimmy Havoc and Sabu beat Mark Haskins and Rhyno in tag team action, TK Cooper defeat Noam Dar before Kay Lee Ray and Dahlia Black decided to have a face-to-face in the middle of the ring, The Glaswegian Assembly steam rolled through the duo of Joseph Conners and BT Gunn and Pete Dunne tried to antagonise Travis Banks in to putting his guaranteed title shot on the line but William Regal stopped the manipulative heel in his tracks. Tonight's two-hour special comes to you from Essex. Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness and Joe Hendry are on hand to welcome the viewing audience and run down the scheduled card; Jimmy Havoc vs. Mark Haskins, Strangler Davis vs Will Ospreay in a Dumpster Match for the EPW British Hardcore Championship, The Anti-Fun Police vs. The Glaswegian Assembly for the EPW British Tag Team Championships, Kay Lee Ray vs. Dahlia Black for the EPW British Women's Championship and Big Damo vs. Martin Stone for the EPW British Undisputed Championship. EPW British Tag Team Championships The Anti-Fun Police © vs. The Glaswegian Assembly The challengers have been running roughshod over the tag team division since joining forces a month ago. There is no denying they are the top team to challenge for the gold but the champions did their best to swerve the match. The Glaswegian Assembly already had their number by already having their request for a championship shot accepted by the commissioner. They are welcomed to the ring with a vast amount of cheers from this rowdy, sold-out Essex crowd. The mood sours as the sirens blare out over the speakers to signal that the fun has to stop. The reigning champ walk down the aisle as the crowd direct boos, jeers and insults there way. There isn't one person in the building that agrees with what they stand for. Joe Coffey uses his strength to dominate Ryan Smile in the opening minutes. The Iron Man launches his smaller opponent in to the corner, lights up his chest with some knife-edge chops and then nails him with a Running Corner Splash. Wolfgang carries on the offence for his team with a Running Leg Drop and a Forward Fireman's Carry Slam. The Regulator attempts a Running Powerslam. The Superintendent of the Anti-Fun Police manages to escape and gets a tag to Chief Deputy Dunne. The leader of the team charges in but is immediately sat on his arse with a Big Boot. He climbs up to the second rope for a Moonsault. As he dives, Dunne rolls out of the way and then capitalises with a Springboard DDT for the pin. Wolfgang kicks out with authority though. The Scottish heavyweight is peppered with repeated stomps whilst he climbs to his feet. He turns the tables though when he grabs The Leader of The Anti-Fun Police around the throat and launches him in to his corner. Joe Coffey tags in once again. He swings Dunne round with the Big Swing before he tags out to Ryan Smile. The Iron Man isn't messing around though. He wipes out his opponent with a Running Clothesline, a Powerslam and a German Suplex across the ring before beginning to motion for his finishing strike; the Discus Lariat. The big man charges forward. Ryan Smile ducks. The referee is then caught with the Discus Lariat. He then turns and blasts Smile with one too before the challengers try to revive the official. In the mean time, Chief Deputy Dunne has snuck back in with a title belt. He blasts Wolfgang with it first sending him toppling down to ringside. Coffey then turns in to a shot with it too. The Iron Man falls to his knees clutching his head. Dunne throws the belt out to ringside. The reigning champions gather together and blast the legal man with the Killjoy. The Superintendent makes the cover. The referee soon comes to and slowly counts a three just as Wolfgang tries to crawl in to break the fall. The Anti-Fun Police pick up the win. They retain the gold by the skin of their teeth and aren't looking to hang around. Dunne and Smile take their belts and leave. As they escape up the aisle, The Glaswegian Assembly recover in the ring wondering where it all went wrong. William Regal is in his office watching the show from the backstage area. The commissioner doesn't look happy at what has just gone down. As he turns, he is met by the appearance of Marty Scurll. The Villain isn't scheduled for action tonight so is dressed up in his suit. He doesn't actually mind not being featured on the card because he needs the time to recover after his gruelling match last week against who he reminds Regal that he beat. Scurll continues by explaining that by beating the current EPW British Undisputed Champion, he believes that he should be next in line for a shot at the gold. William Regal thinks Marty does have a valid point but also reminds him that he isn't in the business of just handing out title shots. He challenges The Villain to go undefeated from now until EPW Live #85: London Brawling and he will happily give him a shot at the title at that very show. Scurll seems happy enough at the proposal. He tells his boss to get the billboards ready because he is taking back his spotlight. EPW British Hardcore Championship Strangler Davis © vs. Will Ospreay The rivalry between these two stems from a 4 Corners Elimination Match a few weeks ago where the #1 contendership for the EPW British Undisputed Championship was at stake. Will Ospreay eliminated Strangler Davis via pinfall however the London based brawler took it upon himself to not just cost the man that eliminated him his spot in the match but also brutally attacked him afterwards with a Low Blow and belt shot. Over the past two weeks, Davis has made it known that he wants to finish off what he started with The Aerial Assassin. He has even offered to put up his EPW British Hardcore Championship in a Dumpster Match which will take place right now. Ospreay gets the reaction of the night as the Essex fans give him a warm welcome home. Some of his family are in the front row to cheer him on and he acknowledges them with hugs. The crowd are well on the back of Strangler as he makes his way down the aisle. He is not here to gain any kind of following and even swings his bull rope around just missing the heads of some fans in the front row. As both men enter the ring, security roll down the dumpster which is the key to victory. The champ begins to yell insults down at his opponent's family which Ospreay doesn't respond kindly too. He leaps right at Davis and the two topple out to ringside. A brawl breaks out. It is Ospreay who uses his rage to really take control. He pulls off a Moonsault off of the barricade before grabbing some weapons from under the ring. Firstly he has a kendo stick. The challenger reigns down on his enemy with several shots. After Davis finds his feet, he is blasted with a trash can lid and is then tossed in to the steel steps. Ospreay slides a table in the ring. It looks like that could be for later as he picks up his opponent's trademark bull rope next. Before he can hit him with it, Strangler kicks him between the legs and grabs it back for himself. He then drops his arch-rival with a Running Body Block to boos from the audience. Davis then wraps Ospreay's legs up with the bull rope, hangs him upside down on the ring post and returns to the ring to apply force. The Aerial Assassin is in serious pain. His family are forced to watch from their seats at ringside. The champion eventually lets go and rolls back out to ringside. He drags one of Ospreay's cousins over the barricade and clobbers him with a right hand. There's no doubt he just went too far. Strangler turns his attention back to his opponent who begins to fight back. He refuses to see his family get tossed around like this. They eventually end up back in the ring where he pulls off the Oscutter. The Essex based high-flyer is not done yet. He sets up a table and rolls the champion on to it. The crowd stand on their feet as he climbs up to the top. Ospreay flies through the air for the 630 Senton. Suddenly, Pete Dunne appears on the apron to drag down the home town hero neck first on to the top rope. Where did he come from? As he begins a full scale assault on Ospreay. Strangler quickly rolls out of and then under the ring. The Bruiserweight blasts his victim with a Forearm Smash, a Rolling Release Suplex and then executes the Bitter End right in the middle of the ring. He looks around for someone else to beat up. The commentators back away as does the referee. Dunne can't see the other participant of this match so leaves through the crowd. Once he has disappeared, Strangler appears from under the ring to sweep up the remains. Davis lifts the limp body of Ospreay and throws him in to the dumpster. The lid is shut. Strangler Davis retains the EPW British Hardcore Championship. The London based brawler has done it again. He has his arm raised in victory and we witness our second controversial finish of the evening. The champion is passed his belt to the chagrin of the Essex crowd. With his belt over his shoulder, he wanders back up the aisle. He gets to the stage but is suddenly hammered from behind with a Forearm Smash. Pete Dunne is back for more. The fans actually cheer as he plants Davis in to the steel with a Pumphandle Lift in to a Tombstone Piledriver. The Bruiserweight stands tall on the stage with a grin on his face. We may have just witnessed a gruelling hardcore match but he stole the spotlight. RJ Singh is standing by for an interview. The Bollywood Dream is joined by Martin Stone who looks focused for the humongous task that lies ahead. He will challenge Big Damo for the EPW British Undisputed Championship in the main event. The Guvnor knows that he can still compete at the very top level. He has proven that over the past month on his road to this match and tonight he will take back his f*king manor. RJ reminds us that the stars sure are aligned that way with several shows in his home city of London coming up. Returning home with the title sure would be a dream however Singh asks whether he will still stay true to his promise that if he doesn't leave with the title tonight, he will retire from the ring. Stone says that a loss isn't option however if that is what happens then as a man he will stay true to his word. He turns around to signify that the interview is over. EPW British Women's Championship Kay Lee Ray © vs. Dahlia Black We saw the New Zealand native win a gruelling Best Of Five Series against Jinny Couture to earn this championship bout. She has made the transition from valet to fully fledged wrestler in the women's division with ease and tonight is truly her coming out match. Dahlia Black gets a positive reaction on her way down to the ring. She looks ready for action as the champion's music begins to play. Kay Lee Ray struts down looking confident. It is evident that she doesn't see the #1 contender as a true threat to her reign. The two-time champ is drawing some tremendous heat by just being here. The opening minute or so consists of some really crisp chain wrestling on the mat. At first, Dahlia gets the best of Kay Lee Ray which frustrates the champ. As they go at it again, it's Kay Lee Ray showing some of that killer instinct as she manages to apply a Figure-Four Leg Lock early on. She uses this as a base to work on and targets Black's knees. The two topple out to ringside where The Killer nails the #1 contender with a Spear in to the barricade. Once they get back in to the ring, she repeatedly boots her in the head whilst yelling 'you're nothing' in her face. Kay Lee Ray grabs her challenger around the throat but is slapped in the face which sends her staggering back in to the ropes. Dahlia scores a Step-Up High Knee in the corner followed by a Bulldog for a two count. As the champ pushes herself up to her knees, she is blasted with several shoot kicks to the chest and then blasted with a Running Seated Dropkick to the face. The momentum has shifted in to the court of the challenger. She bravely battles on against the odds. Dahlia takes a rare trip to the top rope and leaps for a Diving Sunset Flip. She floats over but Kay Lee Ray drops on to her and hooks both legs for a two count. As the two get up, the champ blasts her opponent in the jaw with a Savate Kick for a two count of her own. She follows up with a Gory Bomb in to a pinfall which results in a near fall. The champ disputes the speed of the count. Jessika Carr is firm that it was fine though. As Kay Lee Ray climbs the ropes, it becomes evident that she is looking to finish things up with the Swanton Bomb. The two-time champion dives through the air. She lands. Dahlia rolls her up in to a Crucifix Pin at the last second for a near fall of her own. The two get up to their feet and it's the challenger who nails a Spinning Roundhouse Kick. Kay Lee Ray drops to the mat with a thud. The crowd stand whilst the #1 contender rushes up the ropes. She dives through the air and successfully pulls off the Dark Side Of The Moonsault. This crowd is unglued. The New Zealand beauty hooks the leg. The count is made. We reach three. 'Keep It 100' plays to signify the impossible has become possible. Dahlia Black is the new EPW British Women's Champion. The new champion cannot quite believe it when she is passed her newly won title. TK Cooper and Travis Banks soon join her in the ring and the trio partake in a hug. The valet took her men to the top of the tag team division. Now is her moment to shine. They put her on their shoulders whilst the fans chant her name. Even the commentary team give our new champion a standing ovation. What a moment. The commentary team go through some of the highlights of the night. They are eventually interrupted by The Grizzled Young Veterans who have marched through the crowd. Zack Gibson has grabbed a microphone from Jim Smallman and is now stood on top of the announcer's desk demanding that the fans listen to him. Nuclear heat in this building right now. He reminds us that he is in fact Liverpool's Number One, soon to be recognised as English Pro Wrestling's number one and soon to be recognised as the world's number one. The boos are even louder. The further down South you get, the more they hate this Northern loudmouth. James Drake nods in approval of his tag team partner's every word. Gibson continues by claiming that they are fed up of being treated with disrespect by everybody in the locker room and the buildings that they perform in up and down the country. The boos are now getting to a point where you can hardly hear Zack talk. Eventually he is interrupted by the sound of Iestyn Rees' music which gets a cheer from the Essex crowd. The Alpha Male walks out on to the stage with Dave Mastiff by his side. The Bastard From The Black Country gave Rees a huge show of respect after their match last week on Reloaded. They appear to be on the same page as they enter the ring and Mastiff is passed a microphone himself. He tells his former co-champion Zack Gibson to just shut his loud mouth for once because it's always been full of sh*t. Mastiff announces that he has found himself a partner and you can consider him back in the tag team division and what better name for The Alpha Male and The Bastard From The Black Country than... The Alpha Bastards. This gets a big pop from the Essex crowd. They challenge The Grizzled Young Veterans to fight them in the ring. Gibson and Drake want no part of it and head to the back though. As this new team stands tall in the ring, it appears the fan base has welcomed them with open arms. Jimmy Havoc vs. Mark Haskins (with Vicky Haskins) The Hellbent Anti-Hero's tirade against the hardcore death match style of wrestling started in recent weeks. Mark Haskins attacked hardcore legend Sabu a couple of weeks ago which caught the eye of Jimmy Havoc who came to the rescue of his hero. Last week we then saw Haskins enlist the help of Rhyno who eventually turned against him in the name of hardcore to give Havoc and Sabu a tag team win over him. These two go one-on-one in a straight wrestling match this evening and we are going to finally find out who the better wrestler is. The Hellbent Anti-Hero makes his usual slow walk down the aisle with his wife Vicky to the sound of Joker & Ginz – Purple City. His opponent is given a much warmer reception with the Essex fans singing along to the chorus of his theme song; 'I Hope You Suffer' by AFI. The two lock up in the middle to engage in what some would describe as a wrestling clinic. Jimmy Havoc really holds his own and proves that he can wrestle with the best of them. The King of the Goths eventually gets overwhelmed. He is thrown to the mat by an angry Haskins who starts kneeing him in the back repeatedly. The grizzled Oxford born grappler locks him in a Surfboard submission until the referee tells him to break. He then forces his foot on to Havoc's neck in the corner like a true heel before face washing him with his boot a couple of times. The Hellbent Anti-Hero goes for a Northern Lights Suplex. It is countered in to a Guillotine Choke by Havoc who forces him down to the mat. The inaugural EPW British Hardcore Champion tells the crowd 'he wanted to wrestle, right?' which gets a cheer. It appears Haskins is getting beat at his own game when Havoc transitions in to a Camel Clutch. After a while, Haskins powers out of it and then drills his opponent with a Leg Lariat. Once again he targets the back. Nigel McGuinness points out that the back is key when applying his finishing submission; the Low Sharpshooter. He then continues to slowly stomp the back whilst Havoc is in a tree of woe position in the corner. Haskins tries to follow it up with a Sliding Dropkick. Jimmy pulls himself up. The King of the Goths is now on the top rope and flies on to his opponent with a Diving Double Foot Stomp. As Haskins gets up, Havoc throws several right hands his way and then follows up with a Jumping Double High Knee in the corner. He then blasts his arch-rival with the Acid Rainmaker and hooks the leg. The referee counts. It would have been three hadn't Vicky Haskins placed her husband's foot on the rope without the official seeing her do it. Jimmy Havoc is pissed. He doesn't give a f*ck either so goes in pursuit of his opponent's wife/valet on the outside. Once he gets back in the ring, Haskins is waiting and blasts him with a Running Punt Kick to the head. It appears to have knocked his opponent silly. The Hellbent Anti-Hero locks on the Low Sharpshooter and pulls back especially hard. With his opponent rendered unconscious, the referee is forced to award the match to Mark Haskins. The venue fills with boos as his wife raises his arm in victory. Haskins sarcastically turns round to the official to applaud him. It is the same referee who made the wrong call last month in his loss to Will Ospreay. Maybe some karma came back his way however he had to cut some corners to allow it to happen. Mark Haskins and Vicky leave the ring with a look of disgust due to the crowd hurling insults their way. They have their win though. That is all they're really concerned about. Meanwhile in the back, Will Ospreay has caught up with Pete Dunne. The two are brawling up the corridor. It appears that The Aerial Assassin is getting the best of the man that cost him his match earlier on. He is throwing him over chairs and tables, landing kicks and punches and then strangles him with a nearby cable wire. Ospreay has snapped. Security eventually reach the scene and separate the two men. They both try and wriggle free but can't. Pete Dunne eventually bites the fingers of one of the men holding him back. The Bruiserweight charges forward and kicks Ospreay right between the legs. The Essex born high-flyer falls to his knees before being booted hard in the skull. He falls to the concrete floor with a thud. This battle may be over but this could be the makings of a war. EPW British Undisputed Championship Big Damo © vs. Martin Stone This match is at least a couple of months in the making. The challenger has spent some time trying to prove to the fans and himself that he can still hang at the very top of the company. Fortunately, he has done just that with a win in a 4 Corners Elimination Match three weeks ago to become #1 contender. Martin Stone has vowed to hang up the boots if he can't walk out with the belt though. He has worn the EPW gold before and this will be his final shot. The Guvnor marches to the ring with the crowd showing strong support. The people of Essex know they could be seeing the final bout of a storied career here. Big Damo is still angry about being humiliated by the veteran two weeks in a row. First of all, a post-match beat down on Stone back fired when his rival sent him toppling down to ringside instead. Also the London based brawler cost him a non-title match against Marty Scurll on last week's episode of Live. The two don't lock up. The action kicks off with them trading punches in the middle. Damo launches his opponent in the corner however Stone flies out with several forearms in response followed by a Discus Forearm which sends The Beast From Belfast staggering in to the corner. Stone flies forward to execute a Running Corner Clothesline. He follows up with a Bulldog and a Running Knee Drop. The crowd are going nuts. McGuinness claims in all of the years he has watched Stone, he has NEVER seen him this fired up. The Guvnor awaits Damo to come back in the ring. He eventually does so. Stone rushes forward again but is caught by the throat by the champ. Damo throws him in the corner and delivers some stiff punches to the mid-section. He then throws him over with a Fallaway Slam, lands on him with an Elbow Drop and sends him in to a groggy state with a devastating headbutt. The fans boo while The Beast From Belfast laughs at the state of the legend before him. He follows up with a Powerbomb transitioned in to a Boston Crab. The hold looks painful. Martin Stone doesn't have an ounce of quit in him though. The Guvnor slowly crawls to the bottom rope. He gets there and the crowd give him some cheers for support. Damo runs the ropes for a Running Leg Drop but misses as the challenger rolls out of the way. The tables are turned with a Lou Thesz Press, some mounted punches and a Running Leg Drop by the multi-time champion. He tries to set up for the Tower Of London on the middle rope. The champion forces his way out though. Instead he delivers a Lifting Inverted DDT for a near fall. Damo beats the mat and starts arguing with the official who cowers in the corner. This gives Martin Stone time to find his feet. The challenger is blasted with some heavy duty punches in the corner. The Beast From Belfast executes a Corner Slingshot Splash for yet another two count. This only angers him even more. He decides to take it up a gear and lifts Stone in to an Electric Chair position. The #1 contender counters the move in to a pin but only manages a one. The frustrated champion gets up and throws a Clothesline. He misses. Stone throws several European Uppercut. Damo isn't moving though. Joe Hendry comments that this is one of the most hard-hitting matches he has ever witnessed. The Irish heavyweight lifts Stone on to the top rope. It looks like he is going for a Superplex however the veteran pushes him back down to the canvas and then follows up with a Diving Elbow Drop. Damo rolls under the rope on to the apron. He is in a very dangerous position. Martin Stone sees his opportunity to pounce. Using all of his strength, he drags the big man through the ropes and drops him with his finisher; the Tower Of London. He pulls up the tree trunk of a leg of Damo. The referee counts. He almost reaches three but the 300lbs+ beast gets his shoulder up. The Guvnor now tries to lock on the Arm-Trap Crossface. It isn't successful though. The Beast From Belfast elbows his way out and executes the One-Handed Electric Chair Driver. He transitions straight in to his finishing hold; the Cu Chullain's Wrath. Damo rag dolls the British wrestling legend back and forth. Stone doesn't want to quit. There's nowhere to go though and the submission is only going to get more painful. The Guvnor taps. This all-out war is over and so is the career of Martin Stone. Big Damo retains his EPW British Undisputed Championship. He releases the hold and snatches his title belt from the official. The Beast From Belfast hoists his belt in the air however he doesn't stay long. Damo marches to the back. The night is over for him. There is a more pressing issue behind him in the ring though. Martin Stone is sat in the corner with his head in his hands. Possibly the finest career in English Pro Wrestling history has come to an end. The commentary team put their headsets down and join in the crowd's applause. The Guvnor stands up in the middle of the ring with his head down. After a moment, he slowly raises it up to look around at the incredible reception he is receiving. You can see him mouthing 'thank you' to the fans. This man was a huge part of EPW's past and present. Just as he leaves the ring and the show comes to a close, Mauro Ranallo says one final line to sign us off; 'The Guvnor may have left but English Pro Wrestling will forever be his manor...' Luck was on the Anti-Fun Police's side in this one. Wouldn't mind seeing a rematch. Interesting decision by Regal regarding Scurll wanting a shot at the title. I see this going one of two ways: Either he succeeds in the quest presented by Regal, or he gets hosed in the final match but ends up getting the title shot he wants by way of a triple threat. He's not one to take a loss like that and let it slide, but we'll see how it plays out. Controversial finish to the hardcore title match for sure. He's not quite there yet but Dunne is showing signs of becoming a loose cannon. Didn't expect the women's belt to change hands, but congratulations to the new champion. Very close encounter in the main. Both guys fought well. Nothing against Stone, but glad to see Damo's reign continue. |
