-Showcase taping- Damien Sandow and Dean Martin def a local area team Sami Zayn def. Icarus w/Gran Akuma Akuma ran a little bit of interference during the bout until Derek Wylde came out to even things. Bo Dallas def. Zack Ryder w/Big T Dallas thought he got the win with the bo-dog, however the big man placed Ryder’s foot on the bottom rope in time to stop the referee’s count. Dallas called him out and he got on the apron. Ryder ran in but ended up hitting his corner man instead. Big T held on to the top rope and didn’t go down, but was stunned for a moment. Dallas connected with a springboard bo-dog off of Big T and successfully pinned Ryder. Charlotte vs Solo Darling Charlotte didn’t need much time in this one to get a submission out of Darling with a figure four. Gran Akuma w/Icarus vs Harry Smith There was some visible tension between Smith and referee Brad Maddox. Maddox got on Smith’s case about closed fists, which lead to Smith being rolled up. Smith managed to kickout and looked to put Akuma away a minute or so later, but before he could do so he got heat from Maddox over an atomic drop that looked questionable to the official. During a verbal exchange between the two Akuma grabbed Smith from behind and connected with his tenchi crash. It was enough to keep Smith down for the pinfall. Later in the evening Maddox was asked about what went on in the match and Maddox said his job tonight was to enforce the rules and that’s exactly what he did. Before Maddox leaves he is asked about what happened after his match with Smith last week, which Maddox claimed that Barrett’s actions is not how a champion should act. Eric Bischoff, interrupts the segment, first stating that he agrees with Maddox and will give Maddox a chance to have the champion give Maddox the proper respect that he deserves by matching a non-title match for the following week between Maddox and Barrett. Beth Phoenix w/Karen Sato vs Kana The match was made earlier in the day by Natalya by request of Phoenix, who seeks revenge for Kana and Karen Sato embarrassing her last week. Kana managed to win the match by rolling up Phoenix and holding on to the tights after Sato took one for the team by distracting Phoenix, and getting knocked on her butt in the process. Kana escaped after the bell, while Sato wasn’t so lucky as Beth tossed her in the ring and gave her a glam slam before launching her to the outside and on to Kana who demanding Phoenix to leave Sato alone. Ironman Championship Tye Dillinger vs Alex Bryce Before the match began the announce team recapped action that went down at the IWF’s annual boxing day show that involved the title. Alex Bryce and Blayde took part in a two out of three falls match, and with the match tied a few guys from the locker room came out and attempted to win the belt. A.C. Hunter was the first to succeed, but his reign was short as both the Eastside and Westside Strangler double pinned him, co-winning the belt. Sgt. Colton managed to pin them both not too long after that by taking them both down with a trash can to capture the gold. As Colton was leaving he got in a verbal joust with a member of the town’s junior league hockey team. Colton dared the guy to take a shot, which he did and he made it count, knocking him down and pinning him. Dillinger won the belt from the guy in a quick game of rock paper scissors two rounds to zero. Blayde battled him for the belt and with Bryce’s help won it, however the original match was still going on and Bryce caught Blayde from with a saito suplex for the pin fall win. Back to present time both men got maybe a few minutes to themselves until Heath Slater ran out. Zack Ryder was close to behind and they battled on the runway while the match in the ring was going on. While that was going on Dillinger connected with the tye breaker, but Chuck Taylor pulled Dillinger out of the ring and pinned Bryce to win the title. It looked like referee Eddington James was going to award Dillinger the win by DQ due to the actions of Taylor, but the office ruled it a no contest. Chris Sabin w/Alex Shelley vs Matt Hardy As he did last week, Hardy came out rocking one of his older gimmicks, this time the fans were treated to a variation of Matt Hardy Version 1. Same with his bout with Alex Bryce, Jeff Hardy came out to try to put an end to the match early. Both referee Chris Truax and Chris Sabin look unsure of what to think of the situation as Matt seems competent enough to compete. Things appear to progress fine until Matt looks like he’s going crazy following ten corner punches by Sabin. He tells Sabin to hit him, which he does. Matt tells Sabin to do it “’ageeen….and ‘ageeen’….and….this goes on for a few more times until Rob Rage hits the ring and takes out Sabin and Matt. They get tossed over the top rope, and their respective tag partners feel it is wise to attend to their partners instead of confront Rage. The referee bails as well. Rage calls for a mic, and like he did last week and declares that at Survival the supernova of superstars will be the ultimate survivor, and then the next undisputed world heavyweight champion. Rage continues to put himself over to the live crowd to close the show. After the cameras went off the air Eric Bischoff came out and informs Rage this is not how the final Action Zone of 2017 will end and tells Rage to stay where he is because he will be in action. Chris Jericho comes out as his opponent. Jericho hits the ring and the bell sounds. Jericho strikes quick and often, however Rage powers out and gestures that he doesn’t care for this and heads backstage. Jericho gets the win by countout. Jericho plays to the crowd for a bit before returning backstage as well to close the evening. |

Short show so not much I can really comment on. - Harry Smith appears to be falling in a downward spiral. Would like to see him back in the mix. - You have done a good job making the usually likeable Kana a strong heel. I wasn't sure it could be done. - The Ironman Championship shenanigans are always fun. Great balance in the division right now. - I do really want Rob Rage to win. Think he will be the runner-up against an unlikely contender though. |
