-Showcase taping- Alex Windsor def. A masked local competitor that wasn’t billed as local Toni Storm def. Solo Darling Intercontinental Championship Katie Lea vs Emma Matthews w/Chuck Taylor A rematch from the Showcase opens up the Action Zone as Matthews get a rematch at the Intercontinental title, having recently lost it Katie Lea. Katie looks like she forgot that Yoshiko was cleared to return just before the last show ended, however she is reminded of that as Yoshiko makes her way to the ring before the bell sounds and is marching with a purpose. Kris Wolf is following her, but the expression on Wolf’s face looks like this is one of those follow me with no explanation moments. Yoshiko calls for a mic and says something to both competitors in Japanese, which Wolf loosely translates. Yoshiko tells both Katie Lea and Emma Matthews not to worry as the Intercontinental Championship is not her target…yet. She understands that Kana has a chance to qualify for the Survival match, which Yoshiko states that she hopes Kana is successful tonight because she wants revenge. With those words spoken Yoshiko leaves the ring and heads backstage. Wolf follows and the match is on. Taylor caught the referee’s attention after a nearfall by the champion, as well as Matthews. Taylor ran in, looking to strike Katie from behind. Katie saw it coming and moved out of the way. Matthews slammed on the breaks to avoid knocking Taylor off the apron, though Katie dropkicked Matthews from behind and she knocked Taylor over anyway. Katie took advantage of the collision by delivering a neckbreaker to the knee, which was enough to keep Matthews down for the three count. Following the match Heath Slater is shown in not just another arena, but another country. While the Action Zone is taking place in the Northern US, he’s in the capital of Canada, taking in a hockey game between the Leafs and Senators. He’s the current Ironman Champion and is looking to take things easy to tonight. He starts to feel a bit uneasy as XCW owner Damien Maxwell is in the seat beside him. The boss assures Slater that he won’t be getting involved if anyone tries anything on Slater tonight. He also gives him a small tip for getting through the night, stating that there are just as much Leafs fans in the building as there are Senators fan, so he’ll have to be extra careful not to get on anyone’s bad side. All’s good until a couple of guys appear behind him and weigh in on the conversation. Soon after Slater makes a response he recognizes the voice of one of the guys. He turns to notice Zack Ryder and Big T. He has a feeling this will not end well and a fight breaks out. Slater gets lucky as the two slip and he makes a run for it. Ryder and Big T give chase. Following a short commercial break Ryder and Big T have caught up with Slater near ice level. Slater gets knocked over a railing and into a walkway that is occupied by the game’s officials, who are waiting for the cue that the intermission s over and to take the ice. Big T and Ryder go after him, but the officials hold them back. Slater looks like he dodged a huge bullet here. Before he can make his getaway, Alex Bryce enters the picture. He grabs a hockey stick that was leaning against a wall and uses it to trip Ryder before he can get far. Bryce calls for one of the referees over, and the fans yell at the ref to do so as well. One of the referees turns and sees the pin and actually makes a count. Bryce gets the three count in his favour and he climbs over the railing that Slater was knocked over moments ago, and the only reason why he isn’t being mugged is he’s surrounded by fans wearing the same jersey he is. Damien Maxwell is nearby and a fan asks him if that title change will count. Damien confirms that technically speaking a referee made the count so it’s all good as far as he’s concerned. Now if it were one of the linesmen who made the count he would have to look it up and see if there’s a rule on that. Survival Qualifier Earlier in the day Bischoff is shown talking to two local area wrestlers, who his scouts have said are two of the best in the area, and have brought them in to fight for a chance to enter the Survival match. Surprisingly they were given a decent amount of time to showcase what they could do, however Rob Rage put an end to the match by taking them both down with a double line. He speared one of the two before tossing him out. He was about to spear the second guy when Harry Smith’s theme began to play. Rage tossed the guy out and sized Smith up as he hit the ring. Extra officials had to come up to separate the two. Karen Sato vs ? Last week Natalya gave Karen an opportunity to fight for a second chance for Kana to qualify for the women’s Survival match, and all she has to do is last five minutes against an unknown opponent. Kana’s forced to watch the match from backstage as Natalya barred her from ringside earlier in the night. Both Karen and the live crowd didn’t expect to see that her opponent would be someone from outside of XCW’s walls in former EPW Women’s Champion Viper. Karen protests this choice of opponent to referee Eddington James as Viper makes her entrance, but there’s nothing he can do about it. Karen tries to talk her way out of it before the bell sounds, but as soon as it ring Viper was on her like a bum on a baloney sandwich. All Karen has to do is last five minutes, but it looks like she’ll be lucky to survive one. Surprisingly Karan manages to last half of the time limit, but only because Viper his hitting her with with big move in her arsenal. Needing aid of the ropes to pull herself up, Karen manages to get a strike in, though she gets taken down with a chop to the chest. Viper grabs the legs and decides to go for a big swing. Viper manages to get ten full rotations before letting go. She looks a little winded from that and a few fans in the front row get a laugh when she can be heard saying women her size don’t usually do that. Karen however, when Viper let go of her she moved towards the ropes and looked like she was going to puke. She manages to keep it down, but gets dragged back towards the middle of the ring. Viper’s not done and connects with a powerbomb. Viper with the pin, but she breaks it at two and a half. Viper could have won there. She drags Karen towards the corner and looks like she’s going to go for her viper bomb. Just before she can come off the middle the rope the bell sounds. By some miracle Karen Sato lasted five minutes, which means Kana has qualified for the Survival match. She doesn’t look like a winner laying there, but at least she got spared from a last second viper bomb. Viper doesn’t seem to mind that Karen went the distance, in fact Viper’s grinning. Instead of coming down, Viper goes all the way to the top rope before coming down by way of a moonsault. She got all of it, and Karan feels like someone dropped a boat on her. The crowd gives Viper props for that last move, and it’s a good thing she got up and off of Karen when she did as Karen didn’t feel too good from that moonsault and puked just seconds after. As soon as the ring cleared someone came out to clean up where Karen lost her lunch. Jack Swagger vs Jeff Hardy Before the bell sounded Swagger took the mic and told Hardy that both of them have bigger and more important issues to deal with. Jeff has his brother who’s gone off the deep end, and Swagger has some unfinished business to deal with Nick Watts and James R. Kennedy, and calls for them to get out here. He gets what he wants, but not until later on in the scheduled match. He doesn’t see Kennedy sneaking down to ringside as he attempts to suplex Jeff back inside the ring. Kennedy trips him up and Jeff lands on top of Swagger. Kennedy holds down the leg, the ref doesn’t see it and Jeff wins. Following the bell Kennedy and Swagger hit the ring and attack. Jeff decides not to get involved, however Swagger gets some help, surprisingly from Ross Stevens and Jeremy Dunn. Jim Cornette enters the ring with a mic as Kennedy and Swagger decide to retreat for the time being. The team helps Swagger to his feet and Cornette explains that he and his team might not have anything in common with Jack Swagger, however they come here tonight out of respect for Swagger’s manager Zeb Colter, who hasn’t been seen in some time due to the dastardly and maniacal Nick Watts dropping him on his head a month ago. Cornette doesn’t need to explain the history between him and Colter, and Cornette offers Swagger his services until Colter can return. Swagger appreciates the gesture, however he declines, stating he doesn’t need Cornette’s assistance, he can handle Watts and Kennedy on his own. Cornette knows what talent Swagger possesses, however Cornette reminds him that a good chunk of the time in wrestling it’s the law of the jungle and sometimes one needs someone in their corner. He’s seen what Kennedy and Watts can do, and know they will strike again. Cornette tells Swagger they don’t have to be friends, Cornette just wants to do what’s right. Swagger gives it a little bit of thought before telling Cornette he’ll think about it. Heath Slater has had a couple of close calls as a couple fans in his face earlier on, but so far nothing has gotten out of hand. After leaving the washroom area during an intermission a couple of fans chat it up with him Brian Kendrick and Rusev w/Lana vs The Rock and Wade Barrett Earlier in the evening the not uncommon decision of having a champion and their challengers team up against another set of champion and challenger was made by Eric Bischoff. Surprisingly the egos of all were able to co-exist with their respective partners. It looked like The Rock was going to put away Kendrick with the people’s elbow, until he got bull rushed by Rusev. All four men were in the ring when Lana decided to stick her nose into things. She got on the apron and managed to get the Rock’s attention. Kendrick noticed this and ran in, having something in mind, however the Rock telegraphed it and Kendrick knocked Lana down. Rusev notices this and went ballistic on his own partner…until he turned into a bull hammer, knocking him back into the rock for a Rock Bottom. Barrett pinned Rusev to give his team the win. |

- Big win for Katie Lea in the opener. She took advantage of the opportunity and walked out with the gold. - Good throw back with Harry Smith and Rob Rage having a stare down. Wouldn't mind seeing these two go at it again. - Viper looked strong back in an XCW ring. That Moonsault is super-duper sweet too. Maybe it'll follow her back to EPW... - Swagger and Cornette could have been a good mix. I hope he decides to take him up on his offer. - Bullhammer in to the Rock Bottom was a great finish. Rusev and Kendrick are also a proper odd couple. |
