EPW Live #91

Once Reloaded wraps up, the Live broadcast opens up with a video of last week's two-hour special showing Mark Haskins cashing in the title shot he had won earlier that night during the Big Damo vs. Rampage Brown match to become the new EPW British Undisputed Champion. We also saw The C.C.K become the new EPW British Tag Team Champions, Dahlia Black defend her EPW British Women's Championship against Nixon Newell and Pete Dunne score a handicap victory over The Front Office despite outside interference from Joe Hendry and Dave Mastiff. Tonight's show comes to you live from Poole in front of a sold-out crowd as usual. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness welcome the viewing audience at home to the show before revealing that Joe Hendry is now 100% recovered from his injury so it's just the two of them left on commentary. Scheduled for this evening; Travis Banks will be given an opportunity to get himself back in to the title mix when he faces a mystery opponent in the main event, Zack Gibson has demanded a singles match after being dropped in the ring by both Rampage and Damo two weeks ago, Pete Dunne and Will Ospreay will be forced to team up to take on two of William Regal's newfound henchmen Joe Hendry & Dave Mastiff and a Kay Lee Ray will have nowhere to hide when she is locked in side of a 15 foot high steel cage with Viper. The structure surrounds the ring as we kick off the action right away.

Steel Cage Match
Kay Lee Ray vs. Viper

The rivalry between these two goes back quite some time. These two were once allies a long time ago when the two first emerged in English Pro Wrestling. Kay Lee Ray used the power, strength and size of her associate to become EPW British Women's Champion however it wasn't long before Viper became fed up and decided it was her time to prove herself. The Vixen of Violence eventually captured the gold from The Killer. It was only a matter of weeks though until the dastardly red-headed heel concocted a master plan to get back her title with help from Noam Dar and The Demonic Sisterhood. Now without the title at stake, the two are locked inside of a 15 foot high steel cage to settle this issue. Viper is the first to walk down the aisle and looks keen to get her hands on her arch-enemy. Her opponent is reluctant to enter the cage. She does her best to stall however when her rival opens the door to drag her in, she swings the door in her face. Things are physical now. Kay Lee Ray flies off the top rope to hit a Front Missile Dropkick. As Viper is groggy, she is nailed with a Twist of Fate. The Killer begins to quickly climb the cage for an early exit. She is showing no signs of wanting to hang around. After getting about half way up, she is dragged back down and then launched face first in to the steel with the Snake Eyes. Kay Lee Ray falls back in to the corner before being nailed in the ribs with several body hooks. Viper then launches her across the ring with a Saito Suplex, follows up with a Running Cannonball and then jumps on her with a Corner Slingshot Splash. The Babe of Brutality makes the cover. This could be a three however she breaks the fall herself at two. She isn't done quite yet. Viper wants to inflict more damage to her opponent. After pulling off an Electric Chair Facebuster, she motions for her finisher; the Viper Driver. Suddenly she turns round to see Noam Dar climbing up the cage. The Scottish Supernova gets to the top and dives from the top with a Diving Crossbody. He is caught. Viper rams him back first in to the cage before nailing him with the Viper Driver. This has given Kay Lee Ray time to recover. The ex-champ tries to crawl out of the cage door but is dragged back in by her nemesis. She is then lifted up and drilled with the Viper Driver on top of Noam Dar. The protagonist hooks both legs whilst the crowd count along. Jessika Carr reaches three. Viper picks up the win. The Vixen of Violence also picks up some long-awaited revenge too. Her arm is raised in victory as the cage raises. As she stands over Kay Lee Ray and Noam Dar's fallen bodies, she motions a title belt around her waist to signify that her next target is the champion; Dahlia Black.

Pete Dunne makes his way down to the ring to the sound of 'Bruiserweight' by CFO$ and cheers from the crowd. The renegade demands a microphone. He makes it known that his patience is starting to run thin before telling us he wants his EPW British Undisputed Championship back around his waist. Dunne warns Regal that he is done playing games. If a title shot isn't waiting at the other side of all of these stooges he is sending his way then he will have no problem in taking the commissioner's head off instead. He is then interrupted by the sound of Joe Hendry's music who walks out on to the aisle alongside Dave Mastiff. The Prestigious One takes exception to being called a 'stooge' and informs Dunne that he will find out later tonight that he is the finest pure wrestler on the roster. Boos echo the arena as he continues to suck up to the commissioner by telling The Bruiserweight that it is about time that he showed the boss some respect otherwise the two of them will beat it out of him. Dunne wants a fight though. He dares the two of them to join him in the ring which they do. A 2-on-1 fight breaks out. The fiery rebel holds his own for a while until Mastiff catches him with a Running Clothesline to the back of the head. The two then begin to stomp on their fallen enemy. The fans then go nuts when 'Elevated' by It Lives, It Breaths blares over the speakers. Will Ospreay sprints down to the ring and wipes out the heels with a Springboard Double Front Dropkick. Mastiff stumbles up, turns around and is nailed with the Oscutter. Hendry gets up but suffer the same fate. The fans in Poole are chanting 'OSPREAY, OSPREAY, OSPREAY' repeatedly. Hendry and Mastiff soon bail. Pete Dunne finds his feet to bump in to his former rival who just saved his ass. He looks confused however Ospreay then boots him in the gut and quickly drops him with the Oscutter too. The Aerial Assassin picks up the microphone before telling everybody that he may have just saved Dunne from a beating because they are tag team partners tonight however he hasn't forgotten The Bruiserweight caving his head in with a sledgehammer back at EPW Live #85: London Brawling. He drops the microphone and leaves the ring to a mixed response. The crowd seem to understand why he did what he just did.

Zack Gibson vs. ???
Despite a mixed run of results, nobody has been able to shut up the arrogant heel since he beat his former tag team partner James Drake in a Loser Leaves Town Match. He is as loud as ever on his way down the aisle with a microphone in hand. The heat is nuclear while he reminds us that he's not just Liverpool's Number One but he is also soon to be recognised as English Pro Wrestling's number one and it's only a matter of time until he is recognised as the world's number one. Gibson calls the fans a bunch of dweebs that live in their parents' basements. He then demands that the booing fans quieten down but this only riles them up further. The motor-mouthed Liverpudlian finally warns whoever accepts his open challenge that they will receive a beating courtesy of the fastest rising star in English Pro Wrestling. As he paces around the ring waiting for entrance music, fans hurl insults towards Zack Gibson. The mood changes when 'Wish It Away' by Psyko Dalek begins to play. Most of the crowd know who it is. For those who don't, they are soon informed when the name 'Drew Galloway' appears on the titantron. Galloway has been competing in North America for the last couple of years with the now inactive Global Championship Wrestling. He yells out a huge battle cry as he stomps down the aisle to deafening cheers from the fans in Poole. The Celtic Colossus is a former EPW All England Champion with a stint in the company under his belt around 10 years ago. After stepping in to the ring, he fends off an attack from his opponent and battles back with several heavy-duty right hands. The crowd chant his name as he delivers a Running Clothesline, a Big Boot and an Overhead Belly-To-Belly Suplex. His opponent is fuming. Gibson rolls out to ringside for a breather. The 260lb superstar follows him though and thrust him in to the steel barricade. Back in the ring, Galloway delivers the Scot Drop for a near fall. He put many men away with that move back in the day however he is going to have to pull something else out of the bag to win this one. The fiery babyface hooks each arm for the Future Shock DDT. As he goes to execute, his adversary counters in to a Back Body Drop and then pulls off a Snap DDT. Galloway climbs to his feet. He is dropped with Gibson's signature move; the Helter Skelter Brainbuster. The leg is hooked. Galloway kicks out at two. He certainly didn't come back to lose. He climbs back up to several forearms. The Scot then fires back with a Lifting Sitout Spinebuster on the rebound. Liverpool's Number One slowly staggers up. The arms are hooked once again for the Future Shock DDT. Before he can deliver it, Gibson drops to one knee and executes a Low Blow for the DQ. He took the coward's way out. Galloway drops down whilst holding his crotch in agony. Gibson delivers several stomps to the arm. The crowd boo as he applies the Shankley Gates however Galloway powers out and turns the tables with a Running Big Boot. He then finally executes that Future Shock DDT that he's been itching to nail for so long. Drew Galloway may have not been able to pin his opponent tonight however he walks out the winner in everybody's eyes.

Dave Finlay and Robbie Brookside are guarding the door to the commissioner's office when Big Damo approaches. The former champion looks in a foul mood. He shoves his way past them, storms in to the office and confronts William Regal who is on the phone. The Beast From Belfast proceeds to rip the phone from the boss' hand and expresses that he wants a match against Mark Haskins for the title tonight. As he stares down the shaken commissioner, he is told that his request cannot be granted because the champion is not scheduled to compete tonight. He then tells Damo to calm down and then the two of the can come to some sort of arrangement. The heavyweight from Dublin is all ears. We are not privy to what comes next though. Finlay and Brookside usher the peeping camera outside of the office. We head back to the commentary team at ringside. Ranallo and McGuinness speculate what sort of 'arrangement' our commissioner has in mind and wonder what chaos a Regal & Damo alliance could bring.

Pete Dunne & Will Ospreay vs. Joe Hendry & Dave Mastiff
There is definite tension between the babyface team who still have beef stemming from EPW Live #85 where Pete Dunne struck Will Ospreay with a sledgehammer to beat him in a No Holds Barred Match. The Aerial Assassin is out first to huge cheers. Once he reaches the ring, he watches on as Pete Dunne makes his entrance. The Bruiserweight has his eye on his tag team partner and the two go nose-to-nose when he reaches the ring. Their attention is soon diverted by the sound of 'Prestigious' sung by Joe Hendry himself. The Prestigious One walks down the aisle with Dave Mastiff by his side. Both men were out here earlier to do William Regal's dirty work. Will they be able to finish off Pete Dunne on behalf of the commissioner with Will Ospreay in their way though? Mastiff and Ospreay start in the ring. The 320lb monster blasts his much smaller opponent with some overhand chops in the corner and then nailed him with a Scoop Powerslam. He then lifts him for a Gorilla Press Slam out to the floor. The high-flyer from Essex manages to escape and then sends Mastiff back in to the turnbuckles with a Running Single Leg Dropkick. As the big man falls to one knee, he is nailed in the head with a Knee Trembler followed up with a Standing Shooting Star Press. He kicks out with authority at one though. Ospreay approaches him again but is launched in to the turnbuckles with a Running Powerbomb. Joe Hendry is now tagged in and takes the opportunity to stomp down on his fallen opponent. This is The Prestigious One's first match with the company. He is out to prove a point and he does just that by targetting the right leg for a lengthily period. His opponent keeps trying to tag out. The cocky heel keeps cutting him off though before applying a Single-Leg Boston Crab. Hendry pulls back with all his might. Ospreay is in some serious pain and you can see him considering whether this is worth it or not. He eventually finds the strength to get to the ropes. The Prestigious One releases the hold. He drags Ospreay up, goes for a European Uppercut and it is countered in to a Falling Neckbreaker. The high-flyer leaps out to tag in his partner. Pete Dunne storms in and wipes Hendry out with several punches. He then pulls off a Discus Forearm Smash, a Running European Uppercut in to the corner and Double Foot Stomp. As Hendry tries to crawl to the corner, he is pulled back in to the ring and has his fingers bent right back. Dunne then throws them down and tries to stomp on the hand. Hendry manages to roll away to tag out. Mastiff storms in to attack Dunne. His attempt at a Running Corner Splash fails and he walks right in to a Superkick to the jaw. As he stumbles back in to the turnbuckles, Ospreay tags himself in and wipes Mastiff out with a Springboard Forearm Smash. Dunne doesn't look happy as he reluctantly steps out to the apron. In the mean time, The Aerial Assassin pulls off an Imploding 450 Splash however did not notice Hendry sneak a tag whilst Mastiff was in the corner. Ospreay hooks the leg. The Prestigious One charges in and locks the Ankle Lock on the leg that he targeted earlier on. He has it locked on to full effect. The high-flyer from Essex doesn't seem to have an ounce of quit in him though. Ospreay rolls out of it sending Hendry face first in to the turnbuckle. He then runs up the ropes to execute his finisher; the Oscutter. As he turns, he is nailed with a Forearm Smash by his own partner. Pete Dunne then drops him with the Bitter End before stepping out to the apron again and tagging himself in. The Bruiserweight hooks Hendry's leg. The referee counts three. The babyfaces pick up the win but Pete Dunne is the only one standing tall. After having his arm raised, the former champion immediately leaves the ring with a smug grin on his face. He stomps up the aisle to the stage before turning back round to look at the chaos left behind him in the ring. Big Damo then rushes through the curtain to wipe Dunne out with a Clothesline from behind. This must be part of the arrangement he and Regal spoke of earlier. The Beast From Belfast grabs The Bruiserweight around the throat and launches him off the stage through a stack of tables. He then turns back round to thrust his arm up in the air and yell out a huge battle cry. Damo has proven he will do anything to get his title back.

Travis Banks is about to leave the locker room ahead of the main event when he is stopped by his partner and best friend; TK Cooper. The New Zealand native thanked The Kiwi Buzzsaw for his motivation last week before wishing him luck in the #1 contender's match next. The former EPW British Tag Team Champions high fived before Banks left. After he was gone for a moment, TK is suddenly jumped from behind by The Aussie Open. Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher were run out of the ring by The South Pacific Power Trip and they are back for revenge. They beat Cooper down like a dog. Fletcher then pulls over a nearby table. The Aussie Arrow sets it up whilst Davis drags Cooper up. The Dunkzilla then drops him through the wood with a Powerbomb. TK hit the concrete floor hard too. With the damage being done, The Aussie Open leave the room with smiles on their faces.

Travis Banks vs. ???
The Kiwi Buzzsaw had a golden opportunity when he walked in to last week's episode still in possession of his briefcase which contained a guaranteed shot at the EPW British Undisputed Championship. Travis Banks unfortunately lost a match against Mark Haskins with the Battle For The Briefcase at stake via a botched interference by TK Cooper and walked out with nothing. Being the type of guys that he is, Travis has since patched things up with his tag team partner. He has also been lucky enough to gain another opportunity to earn himself a title match at EPW Live #95: Winds Of Change. The only hurdle is his mystery opponent tonight. Unfamiliar music blares over the speakers. The crowd can barely wait to see the identity of this potential new star. They explode as the name is displayed on the titantron; ZACK SABRE JR! The fans in Poole have been treated to two former champions returning to the company this evening. The former EPW British National Champion walks down to the ring whilst high fiving fans either side of him. He then jumps over the ropes and his opponent slowly approaches him. There's no need for the referee to interject. The two men shake hands in a great show of respect. Nigel McGuinness predicts that these two hard-hitting technicians are about to put on a classic. The fans still can't believe The Technical Wizard is back as the two trade holds. The last time we saw Sabre Jr. was when he dropped the EPW British National Championship to Pete Dunne at EPW Live #23. In the mean time, he has been wrestling for Global Championship Wrestling in North America however has decided to return home to English Pro Wrestling. The two slowly wrestle their way to their feet. Banks lifts the returning superstar above his head. It is countered in to a Snap Suplex which is immediately transitioned in to a Surfboard Stretch. The referee counts four. It is released by Sabre Jr. who then swings for a Penalty Kick. Banks ducks. He then pulls off a Leg Sweep transitioned in to a Texas Cloverleaf. The hold is locked on. His opponent finds it difficult to find a way out until he manages to pull himself back through the legs, up and begins to punch a stunned Travis in the face. He lets go of his grip. Zack then takes his head off with a Running European Uppercut. The fans lap it up whilst Banks takes a breather in the corner. The New Zealand warrior has a bit of fire under him now and approaches his opponent with an angry look. Both men go nose-to-nose until Banks throws the first shot. It's a knife-edge chop heard around the building. Sabre Jr. throws one back and eventually they just begin throwing them with each one getting stiffer. The Technical Wizard nails a Headbutt. The Kiwi Buzzsaw is groggy for a moment however nails an even harder one back to take the advantage. He then runs the ropes, delivers a Dropkick in to the turnbuckles and follows up with a Running Cannonball. Banks may be up against some tough competition however his dream of a title match is within reach. As he lifts his opponent up for the Kiwi Crusher, Sabre Jr. escapes after nailing some knees to the skull. The submission specialist from Kent blasts Banks with a Rolling Elbow on the way down and locks on the Breaks Special. The hand is bent behind the back. His opponent looks in pain. Just before Banks looks like he might escape, the submission is released and Sabre Jr. quickly blasts him with the Penalty Kick. The leg is hooked. The official counts. Kick out at two. Travis Banks slowly finds his feet but is blasted with some shoot kicks on the way up. He is nailed with a European Uppercut and then almost dropped with a Tiger Suplex. The Kiwi Buzzsaw manages to wriggle out of it. He then switches in to a German Suplex followed up by his signature move; the Kiwi Crusher. The Fisherman Driver came out of nowhere. He hooks the leg this time. The referee counts. Kick out just before three. As Sabre Jr. rolls over, Banks quickly applies the Lion's Clutch. The submission is locked on this time and this match can't go much longer with so much damage inflicted to the neck of The Technical Wizard. The crowd are stunned to see the former GCW star crawl to the bottom rope to break the hold. He is pulled back. Banks wants to lock him in the hold again. Once he traps the arm, Sabre Jr. rolls over and applies a Kimura Lock. He may be too close to the ropes. Travis hooks his leg round the bottom rope so his opponent respectfully backs away. He awaits Banks to find his feet. The former champion grabs the limb for his finisher; the Cross Armbreaker. Instead he is booted in the skull but the New Zealand warrior who then lifts his opponent up for the Spinning Torture Rack Slam. As he goes to drop his own finisher, he is grabbed on the way down. Travis Banks is locked in the Cross Armbreaker slap bang in the middle of the ring. He has nowhere to go. After a long time trying to fight the inevitable, he taps out. Zack Sabre Jr. is victorious. Both men are down on the canvas as the winner's music plays and the bell is rung. The fans also give both men a round of applause. Once they find their feet, they shake hands and meet with a hug. McGuinness predicted it would be a classic. It is hard to argue with that. Banks leaves the ring to allow his opponent to celebrate in front of the cheering crowd. Once he has passed through the curtain, out walks Mark Haskins with the EPW British Undisputed Championship around his waist. Vicky Haskins is by his side. The Hellbent Anti-Hero stomps down to the ring to confront the returning 15 year pro. As his wife stays on the outside, Haskins goes nose-to-nose with Zack Sabre Jr. The show close with the two men staring each other down and finally The Technical Wizard pointing up at the belt.

Good that Viper won the cage match, though kind of wondering if the result would have been the same if the win condition was escape only.

Despite the ending, solid debut outing for Drew Galloway. I'm sure he'll have no trouble fitting it.

Cooper can't seem to catch a break these days, hoping his luck changes sooner rather than later.

Solid main between banks and Jr. With Haskins coming out at the end it's safe to say Sabre's arrival didn't go unnoticed by others.
