-Showcase taping-

Icarus w/Gran Akuma def. Alex Bryce
Akuma tripped up Bryce near the ropes, which went unnoticed by referee Jimmy Korderas.

The Hardys def. Richard Raw and Sam Smackdown via disqualification
Smackdown and Raw did a good job at wearing down Jeff, but couldn’t keep him down and he managed to make a hot tag to Matt. Matt was cleaning house, but raw managed to put an end to it, tagging Matt in the head. Matt dared Raw to hit him again and again. This went on for almost a minute solid, which made Raw lose it and go for a chair. Despite warnings from referee Chris Truax, Raw struck Matt with a chair. The ref called for the bell and Matt went down to a knee, but popped right back up, yelling a ‘yeeaaazzz’ at Raw before giving him a twist of fate. Despite picking up the win, Jeff saw what happened that lead to the bell, and looked quite disturbed by it. Smackdown ran in, but got taken down and locked in Matt’s ice pick. Matt eventually let go of the hold and called for a mic, declaring both opponents obsolete. If they feel otherwise then Matt challenges them to a no holds barred match next week, where he will…delete them.

Harry Smith def. Alex Shelley
How Steen won the Survival match, as well as Shelley’s team dropping the tag belts at the same event was mentioned on commentary during this one. Shelley holds his own solo, however Smith is the better man on this night, finishing off Shelley with a bulldog bomb for the win.

The main show opens up with almost the entire roster surrounding the ringside area. Extra security personal is present around both Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho. Eric Bischoff makes his way to the ring for, as it was announced earlier in the week, to make a state of the union address. Bischoff first welcomes the fans in attendance as well as all of the wrestlers and staff for being here tonight before he gets down to business. With Survival in the books the road to Starcade has officially begun, and there’s no turning back. However Survival ended with more questions than answers, which he will address here tonight. First he brings up the women’s championship. It was announced that at Full Metal a ladder match will take place with the winner to face the women’s champion at Starcade. Participants haven’t been named yet, however his boss and himself have agreed to have qualification matches next week. Matter number two involves both Chris Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. He understands that what went down at Survival did not solve things between the two, however he does not want to risk there being a liability because of them so he is announcing the following; At Full Metal it will be Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega in a last man standing match, and that’s not all, for it will also be under loser leaves town rules, which means the loser will be outta here. Until then he is barring both Jericho and Omega from all XCW branded events until Full Metal. Next he brings up Rusev, Bo Dallas, and Brad Maddox. He states that tonight the three of them will be used as a wakeup call to the roster, that it doesn’t matter who you are, no spot is safe. Jericho and Omega aren’t the only one’s competing in a loser leaves match, for the three of them will be a triple threat match tonight, and the loser of that match can forget about trying to find a way onto the Starcade card and will have to focus on finding another job. Which brings us to the bigger story, the main event of the evening. He calls Kevin Steen, Harry Smith, Rob Rage, AJ Styles, and The Miz in the ring. Bischoff congratulates Steen on his “win” at Survival, which Steen thanks him. Smith accuses Steen of cheating, which Rage says he agrees with him. Bischoff calls for order and states he’s getting to that. He tells the crew in the truck to roll the footage, which shows Steen’s obvious elimination at the hands of Harry Smith. Steen can’t deny that, however he reminds us that the referees can’t call what they can’t see. Bischoff agrees, however he listened to the commentary from the match and paid attention to something Don Callis said, which reminded Bischoff he’s seen something like this before. He calls Bret Hart in the ring. Bret is ringside and he enters as requested. Bischoff asks Bret if he recalls what happened at the WWF Royal Rumble in 1997. Hart does and explains he eliminated Steve Austin, the referees missed it due to dealing with Mick Foley and Terry Funk, and with the referees dealing with them Austin re-entered the ring undetected, eliminated The Undertaker and vader, Bret made what he thought was the final elimination, then Austin tossed him over and was ruled the winner. Bischoff asked what happened after that. Hart mentions that a four way match was made between himself, Austin, and the two guys Austin eliminated. Bischoff thanks Bret for the history lesson before telling Steen there is a precedent on the matter, so in the interest of fairness Steen must defend his Starcade main event spot against Rob Rage, The Miz, and Harry Smith. Steen protests the ruling, which Bischoff tells Steen if he doesn’t like it then he can sit on the bench and lose his spot all together. That calms Steen down a little bit. Bischoff then turns his attention to AJ Styles. While Styles finishing position was better than Rage and Miz, his elimination was legal at the hands of Harry Smith, therefore he won’t be involved in the match. However he does inform Styles that the owner of the company has plans for him, and to see him later tonight. That’s all he has to say and it’s time to get the show on the road. He orders the ringside area to clear, except for Zack Ryder and Nick Watts, their scheduled match is up first.

Nick Watts w/James R. Kennedy vs Zack Ryder w/Big T
Referee Chris Truax warns both corner men before the bell to keep things in their respective corners. During the bout Kennedy manages to lure Big T out of his corner and to come after him, which the referee notices and puts a stop to it, calling for the big man’s ejection. Ryder objects to the decision as well. Kennedy tells off Big T, however Kennedy gets knocked down by the big man before T’s forced to take a walk. Before the referee turns his back towards the ring, Watts strikes Ryder with a low blow. When the ref returns to the ring, Watts connects with a stiff looking ddt. Watts with the pin and he steals the win in what was an evenly contested match up until that point. Following the bell the evening’s main event is confirmed as former co-holder of the tag team champions is in the hunt to put gold back around his waist as he challenges the reigning Canadian National Champion Brian Kendrick.

When the show returns Jim Cornette is talking with his team. They took part in the Showcase portion of the show, defeating an indy team from the area, as well as was ringside for Bischoff’s locker room meeting. As they talk things over Jack Swagger approaches. Swagger mentions that after Survival he gave it some thought and he wonders if Cornette’s offer from earlier is on the table. Cornette states that it is and asks if it’s true what he heard that Colter might not be back. Swagger confirms that appears to be the case. Cornette agrees that he and his team will have Swagger’s back if he has theirs. Swagger admits it will take getting used to, but he can agree to that. Swagger and the rest shake hands.

Before things shift back to the ring Eric Bischoff is shown in his office special with referees Amy Kanazki and Justin Kronan about the current Ironman Champion Heath Slater when there’s a knock at the door. He tells the person to come in and in walks Paul Heyman. Bischoff is surprised by this, figuring this is one of the last places he’d expect to see Heyman. Heyman’s not surprised by the comment, but he reminds Bischoff that they are both business men, which is why he is here. He’s here to get a contract for his client, the hottest free agent in the history of pro sports, CM Punk. Bischoff feels that this confirms the rumours he heard of Punk’s latest contract being voided to be true. Bischoff does not deny what Punk brings to the table on his own, however he’s not sure if the presence of Heyman would increase or decrease Punk’s value. He does agree though that Heyman is in the eyes of many a respectable name in the business so he will hear what Heyman has to say. Justin tells Bischoff he thinks there is a chance it could take a good chunk of the night if Bischoff plans on trying to come to terms with Heyman and Punk and asks who will run the show if he’s occupied the rest of the evening. Bischoff thanks the ref for the observation and tells the both of them to inform Steven Richards to keep an eye on things the rest of the night.

Emma Matthews w/Chuck Taylor vs Jessica Guerrera
At Survival Emma Matthews entered the Survival match a second time, stealing the identity of another competitor. As Matthews makes her entrance for this one, security footage from Survival shows the backstage attack, as well as Matthews coming out of hiding wearing the Guerrera ring attire. Natalya signed this match so the one who had her chance of entering the match could get some payback. Matthews isn’t having a good day at the office as Matthews wasn’t prepared for the agility of her opponent. Matthews managed to get some offence in, but what shortcuts she took didn’t take long to be countered. After connecting with a juvi-driver, the masked wrestler went upstairs. Chuck Taylor didn’t like where this was going and got up on the apron and shoved her off. Referee Eddington James calls for the bell, disqualifying Matthews for Taylor’s interference. Taylor helps Matthews back to her feet and Matthews has no time attacking Guerrera while she’s down. This continues until Taylor suggests they find out who is really under the mask. But before Matthews can go ahead with the thought Veda Scott runs out. Taylor and Matthews decide to leave Guerrera alone for the time being.

Earlier in the evening AJ Styles was told that the owner of the company has something in store for him, and since he has time he decides to seek the boss out. He doesn’t have to go very far as Damien Maxwell was looking for him at that same moment. Damien shakes Styles’ hand before congratulating him on a good performance at Survival. He knows it didn’t end the way Styles had hoped, but he tells Styles to keep his head up. He confirms that he has something in store for him. He informs Styles that it will be up to Styles who can choose his path to Starcade. He knows that Styles would love to get another crack at the Canadian National Championship, which at Full Metal it will be Kendrick and Styles one on one for the title inside a steel cage. Styles wins he gets his what he should already have, plus some back in the process, in addition to being part of the Starcade card as the defending title holder. Styles likes the sound of that, which Damien does too, but he asks Styles what sounds better, that, or being crowned the new world heavyweight champion. Damien confirms that the Golden Ticket ladder match will return at Starcade. Damien notes that both title matches against Kendrick had questionable outcomes, however Styles’ efforts didn’t go unnoticed by either Bischoff or himself. All Styles has to do is win a qualification match at Full Metal and he’s in. Styles asks who his opponent would be. Damien states that if Styles is going to be competing in a match for a chance at a guaranteed world championship match, he should face someone who has been to the top of the ladder before. Styles agree and says whoever it may be is fine with him. Damien likes what he hears because Styles will be facing him. Styles looks confused by that, which Damien explains his thought process. Every wrestling fan out there knows what AJ Styles can do, Damien knows it as well. However if someone wants to represent this company as its world champion it has to be someone who can handle being at the top. Damien brings up all the times he held the top belt here, he would have loved to defend against Styles, though it wasn’t a possibility as Styles was employed elsewhere. If Styles can beat him then Styles will have his blessing to go for it all. He brings up last year’s tag title match at Starcade. Since then Brad Maddox and The Miz have had their share of ups and down, while Kendrick has reached new heights. Damien knows that Styles is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, however he mentions that know NWA champ has ever done what the current XCW Heavyweight Champion has done. Wade Barrett has raised the bar, the question he has for Styles is can he clear it? Styles gives it some thought. Styles admits the thought of putting Kendrick in his place is tempting, and something Kendrick should get, however Styles wonders what may have happened if he and Damien clashed back when Damien still wrestled full time. Styles has never been one to back down from a challenge, so if Damien is challenging him to clear the bar set by the current champ, he will gladly do so and tells the boss he will see him at Full Metal. Damien looks pleased with Styles’ decision before telling Styles that’s what he wanted to hear and he’ll see him then.

Brad Maddox vs Rusev w/Lana vs Bo Dallas
Dallas managed to convince Rusev at the bell to gang up on Maddox, which Maddox didn’t like the sound of. Rusev went along with it, and it didn’t take long for Maddox to get his ass handed to him. After a few minutes of taking Maddox down several notches, Rusev took a few seconds to express his dominance towards the crowd. During that time Bo Dallas attempted to steal the win, however Rusev spotted the attempt in time and broke it up just before the referee could make the three count. That ended up being a mistake on Dallas’ part as Rusev decided to target him, and not long after that Dallas is in position to be put in the accolade, however Brain Maddox grabs on to Rusev’s leg, using him to get back to his feet. Rusev lets this happen before picking him up and dropping Maddox on top of Dallas. With Lana convincing him to do so, Rusev puts both men in the accolade. Both of them are forced to tap out or be broken in half. With the stipulation made by Bischoff earlier in the evening it looks like both Maddox and Dallas are done here.

Before the show went to break, the announce team brings a challenge towards the tag team champions that was issued earlier in the day. Hutch Henries was in the interview area with Brian Kendrick and Charlotte, working on promo spots to hype upcoming house shows when Damien Sandow and Dean Martin interrupt what’s going on, demanding mic time of their own. Sandow mentions after what went down at Survival he feels there is a lot of change in the air, and with that change he feels the time to make a statement is now. Therefore he and the Dean issue a formal challenge to the new world tag team champions to defend their newly won belts tonight. As they leave the scene, the announce team mentions live that the challenge was accepted before the show went live, and that match will take please next.

When the show returns Hutch Henries is standing by with Steven Richards. Richards states he had several members of the women’s roster ask him if anything regarding the qualifications matches for the ladder match at Full Metal, which with Bischoff in negotiations with Paul Heyman, who faces who for a chance to earn a shot at the women’s title is the furthest thing from his mind. Richards spoke with the owner moments ago and Damien Maxwell has given that responsibility to Steven Richards himself. Only thing Richards was told is their will be four spots to fill. Two of those spots will be decided on next week’s show. In the first match Charlotte will take on Katie Lea. He notes that with what is at stake in the match that Katie Lea’s Intercontinental Championship will not be on the line as well. With how the women’s Survival match ended gave him an idea for the second qualifying match. With that being said Act Yasukawa and Kris Wolf will faceoff for the second spot.

Tag Team Championship
Damien Sandow and Dean Martin vs Derek Wylde and Tye Dillinger

Things looked to be pretty much even between the two sides in the opening minutes, though the challengers appeared to have a strategy of keeping the champions grounded. Sandow made a tag following a swinging neckbreaker on Wylde, though when Martin entered the ring and was about to follow up where Sandow left off, something doesn’t feel right according to the facial expression of referee Amy Kanazki as Martin connects with a bulldog. She checks on Wylde, though Martin looks to get her out of the way so he can continue. She backs him up instead before checking back on Wylde. Dillinger in and he checks on Wylde as well. Wylde looks to be injured here as the ref takes goes to the challenger’s corner for a moment before returning to where the champions are. After a moment Sandow enters the ring and jumps Dillinger, forcing him under the bottom rope and following him to the outside. Meanwhile Martin grabs the legs and applies a figure four. Wylde attempts to fight it off, but only for a brief moment as his shoulders fall back down to the canvas. The referee makes a pin count on Wylde. He can’t pull up the shoulders up to answer the count, Sandow and Martin win the titles. The new champions take the win and the belts back to the locker room quickly as the attention goes back to Dillinger’s injured partner. Medical personal come out as the show takes a short commercial break.

When the show returns Wylde is being attended to in the ring. As this is going on, the video feed switches to the backstage area as Icarus found Heath Slater and forces him into an impromptu defence of the Ironman Championship. Referee Justin Kronan follows the action as it makes its way from the backstage area to the front lobby of the arena. Icaraus manages to take Slater down with a wet floor sign and applies the chikara special. Slater tries to hold on but is forced to tap out. Sami Zayn looks to cut Icarus’ reign short by striking Icarus in the back with a mustard dispenser. Zayn pins Icarus and becomes the new champion. Zayn now has two belts as he gets the Ironman title and holds it up along with the Internet belt. Before Zayn can flee the scene Nick Watts shoves him into a near by table. Watts grabs the Internet belt and when Zayn gets back to his feet Watts strikes Zayn upside the head with the belt. James R Kennedy knocks down runs into Slater, knocking Slater over and on top of Icarus, as Watts pins Zayn. Watts grabs the Ironman belt, as well as the Internet belt and takes off. Not shown to the live crowd, but shown on the Showcase, a camera caught up with Watts and Watts explains his reasoning for taking the Internet Championship belt. He states that it’s simple, what Nick Watts wants, Nick Watts takes. He tells Zayn that if Zayn wants it back to come and get it.

Before things got back to the ring for an update on Derek Wylde’s condition Hutch Henries is standing by with Chris Sabin. Sabin and his partner Alex Shelley are disappointed that they lost the tag team championship, but they vow that they will be back in the title hunt soon. However Sabin adds that his hunger for championship gold is strong, hence him issuing a challenge to Brian Kendrick for a shot at his gold tonight. Sabin gives Kendrick credit, very few people can say they survived a match with Rusev and came out of it in one piece. Luck or not he gives Kendrick his due, however he tells Kendrick that his luck will run out and once it’s all said and done Kendrick will have no choice but to hail the new champ, all hail Sabin. Sabin’s fired up and ready for this one.

Back in the ring Wylde is being loaded on to a stretcher. Cameras stay on the scene until he’s fully out of the ring and going up the aisle way. After a final commercial break Paul Heyman is shown leaving Eric Bischoff’s office. As Heyman walks he passes by Hutch Henries, which Hutch asks how the negotiations went. Heyman states there is no deal in place at this time, however he and Bischoff were able to find common ground on a number of details, and he can confirm another round of talks has been scheduled.

Canadian National Championship
Brian Kendrick vs Chris Sabin

Referee Eddington James called for the bell before the match could really heat up, ruling it a no contest when Kevin Steen hit the ring and knocked down both competitors. He gave them each a package piledriver before calling for a mic. Steen is furious with having to defend his rightful earned championship match, however if that’s what he has to do in order to keep it then he will make sure anyone who gets in his way knows exactly how he’s feeling. Harry Smith hits the ring and they start to exchange words. Before Miz or Rob Rage can even think of joining the party Eric Bischoff comes out. He tells both men to settle down. He reminds Steen of what he said earlier, which includes attacking other wrestlers in matches that he isn’t involved in, however he will look the other way this time. There is one thing he forgot to mention earlier, with what is at stake no normal match will do. Bischoff calls Steen a loose cannon so there is only one type of match fitting for the situation. Therefore at Full Metal Kevin Steen, Harry Smith, Rob Rage, and The Miz will compete for the challenger’s spot at Starcade…and there will be no disqualification, no countout, no interference, and most importantly, there will be hell…in a cell. Steen doesn’t like the announcement he just heard. As for Smith he is either looks to be in favour of the match, or at the very least approving of Steen’s reaction. Either way, Steen’s spot in the main event at the big one is in serious jeopardy. Smith leaves the ring as Steen tries to contain his frustration as the show goes off the air.

- The opening segment answered a lot of questions. I am hoping Rob Rage pulls out the win to go on to Starrcade however I can see Kevin Steen finding a way to keep a hold of his title shot.

- Was looking forward to seeing who was under the mask. Looks like we will have to wait until another day thanks to Veda Scott. A great showing by Jessica Guerrera in this one though.

- Good to see Rusev win the Triple Threat Match in dominant fashion. Hopefully he can push on to challenge for one of the belts or in to a meaningful storyline.

- Shocked to see the titles change hands in that fashion. Damien Sandow has found a true match in Dean Martin and it will be interesting to see how long they can hold on to the gold.

- Shame the Kendrick/Sabin match ended in a no contest. That had the potential to be a solid main event. Hopefully Sabin gets a rematch as I think he has a shot at winning the belt.
