-Showcase taping- The taping starts with an on location spot featuring The Miz. Miz appears to be on a set of some kind where he answers the question people have been asking, why he going in front of the camera when he is weeks away for participating in the biggest match of his career thus far. Miz explains because he can. He knows he is facing three of the top names in the company, however while they’re risking serious injury in the ring before the fight, he’s out here doing what he does best, entertaining the masses, and nothing has gone wrong…except for the intern that is late with his danish. The Miz states that come Full Metal he will be 100% ready and he will be the one who will take the spotlight of Starcade’s main event. The Hardys def. Richard Raw and Sam Smackdown in a no holds barred match. The Dudleys were shown backstage watching this one. They’re scheduled to challenge the tag champs at Full Metal, but given their history with the Hardys it never hurts to keep an eye on potential future opponents. Before the finish, both Raw and Smackdown had a chair and looked like they were going to take Matt’s head off. Matt didn’t see away out of it and looked like he was going to embrace it, telling them to heeeeet him. Jeff managed to take Smackdown down before they could swing. Raw stopped when he noticed his partner taken down. Matt took advantage of the situation and set up Raw for his ice pick submission. He took Raw down and got the move fully applied, forcing the submission out of him seconds later. Not shown to the live crowed but does make the show when it airs, a vignette hyping the arrival of Goldust airs. This is a follow to the vignette that aired on during the live action. Goldust is in a director’s chair in front of a movie screen where he explains that he has decided on the select market in which to showcase his triumphant return, however it’s a place that’s been noted in the past for having tough critics. However, even the toughest of critics know a masterpiece when they see one, which he invites the fans of XCW to this coming week’s Action Zone and promises they will experience first hand wrestling’s long awaited return to the golden age. He finishes the spot with saying "Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night….All About Eve, 1950.” The main show opens up with a segment shot earlier in the day as Eric Bischoff in his office speaking with Steven Richards. Bischoff informs Richards that Paul Heyman will be here tonight to continue contract talks, which he feels last week went well and he is closer to signing CM Punk. Richard is glad to hear that, which Bischoff states he feels it can happen tonight, but there is to be zero interruptions. Therefore he is putting Richards in charge for the night. Following the show’s opening package, Steven Richards is shown backstage in an APA-style makeshift office. It doesn’t take him long to get visitors as the Motor City Machine Guns enter. Both Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley inquire about getting another shot at the tag team championships. Sabin feels that they should be the first to challenge the new champs, which he also feels he should be the Canadian National Champion, but he doesn’t want to get on the bad side of Kevin Steen. Richards mentions that Damien Sandow and Dean Martin requested some interview time later tonight, and if Bischoff hasn’t wrapped things up with his important business meeting then he will make a decision on who the new champions will defend against first. That’s the best he can say to them for now. Gran Akuma w/Team FIST vs Jack Swagger w/Jim Cornette and Ross Stevens and Jeremy Dunn Before referee Eddington James calls for the bell to start the match he orders everyone to the locker room that isn’t a licensed manager. Chuck Taylor states that he has one, which he turns around and hastily writes one on a napkin that he had in the pocket of his pants. Oldschool isn’t buying it, and he also mentioned that Taylor spelled the name of the state wrong. Cornette’s the only one who can stay, but he doesn’t play a favour other than keeping an eye on the action. Swagger needs only a few minutes to pick up the win with an ankle lock submission following a gutwrench powerbomb. Shortly after the bell Nick Watts and James R Kennedy appear on the video screen at an unknown location. Kennedy states that he is surprised by the sudden partnership of Swagger and Cornette, but upon thinking about it a little bit he feels the two are made for each other. Even though Swagger has a new manager, Watts is not through with Swagger yet. However he is glad he doesn’t have to deal with Zeb Colter anymore, him getting in the way was starting to get tiresome. If Swagger has a problem with that he tells Swagger to come to Full Metal, and he will deal with Swagger personally. Now that he thinks of it, he also wants to send a message to Sami Zayn. Watts has the Internet Championship belt with him and tells Zayn that he is in a good mood tonight, so he will offer Zayn a chance to regain what some say rightfully belongs to Zayn. If Zayn is game then he has an idea and tells both Swagger and Zayn to show up at Full Metal. If either of them want a piece of Nick Watts, it will be under his terms. Until then, this belt will remain exactly where it is. Don Callis isn’t sure if what just went down is a smart move on the part of Nick Watts, however he gets the feeling that Watts and Kennedy are up to something. With that being said the announce team runs the rest of the night’s action. As confirmed last week, two qualification matches for the ladder match at Full Metal. Charlotte will take on Katie Lea, while Kris Wolf and Act Yasukawa will face each other. Also on the card tonight the owner of the company Damien Maxwell will be in action. He faces AJ Styles at Full Metal and will be looking to get back in competitive shape tonight. Speaking of Styles, he will be in the main even tonight against Internet Champion Sami Zayn. Speaking of the Internet Champion, Sami Zayn is shown speaking with Tye Dillinger backstage. Zayn asks if there’s any update on Derek Wylde’s condition, which last Dillinger mentions at last check Wylde’s remaining positive, however it looks like it might be time to hang up the boot. Zayn calls it a shame, but it’s good Wylde’s keeping his head up. Zayn asks what Dillinger’s next move will be, which Dillinger isn’t exactly sure. He has thought about giving a shot at the Internet title another go, stating that Zayn knows how to give Dillinger a good run, though on that note Dillinger asks if it’s true what he heard that Nick Watts stole the belt from him. Zayn confirms it, however Zayn’s figuring out what the best choice of action will be, knowing how Watts has been upon arrive he’s treating this matter with extra caution. Zayn is yet to be aware of the words spoken by Nick Watts moments ago as he wraps up his conversation with Dillinger. Standing by with Hutch Henries are the new tag team champions, who have requested this time. Damien Sandow starts off by wishing a speedy recovery to his opponent last week, which relates to what he wants to talk about. Sandow explains that over the past week he and his apprentice have received a lot of, as he puts it, criticism, over how they handled the situation. While the two of them understood the severity of the situation, the fans need to understand that in this sport you compete until you hear the bell, which the match official did not call for the bell to stop the match, therefore the title change was 100% by the rules. Sandow does however offer Tye Dillinger a rematch with a new partner at his earliest convenience, if he so chooses to see a rematch. Regardless of if Dillinger accepts or not they will defend the belts against any team that asks. After that line is spoken a nearby voice says “Glad to hear that.” The champs turn and look surprised at who was talking. The camera shows who it was, Bubba Ray Dudley. D-Von is present as well. Bubba says that it’s good to see Damien and Dean are fighting champions, which they would like to take them up on the offer and face them for the titles at Full Metal. Martin finds this amusing as he mentions at last check the Dudleys do not work here. D-Von responds “That statement was true until earlier today when Bubba and I signed brand new contracts, oh testify.” Bubba grins and tells the champs they’ll see them then. Following the first commercial break of the evening, Sami Zayn and AJ Styles have a crossing of paths backstage. Zayn understands the importance of their match tonight, with what Styles has waiting for him at Full Metal, Zayn knows that Styles will be looking to build momentum. Zayn wants Styles to do well, however being the reigning Internet Champion this won’t be as easy of a day at the office as Styles thinks. Styles understands where Zayn is coming from, and they would be here a while if they began to say how both of them can’t afford to lose tonight, he simply states may the better man win, before holding his hand out. Zayn nods in agreement and shakes Styles’ hand. Charlotte vs Katie Lea As announced last week, the winner will move on the ladder match at Full Metal, where the winner of that match will face the women’s champion at Starcade. Katie’s Lea’s Intercontinental title isn’t at stake here, which is good for her as despite a decent effort, Charlotte got the better of the IC champ in this one, finishing her off with a natural selection from the top rope. Following the match a camera peaks into Oedo Tai’s locker room as both Act Yasukawa and Kris Wolf are preparing for their match tonight. Asrial Major and Serena Moon are their as well. The door opens and both competitors look up as Skyler Raye enters, wearing referee attire. Skyler explains she was appointed the guest referee for their match by Natalya. She states it doesn’t matter to her which one of them wins tonight, as long as they show why each of them top the ranks. Act and Wolf are surprised by the appointment of the guest official, but they welcome it. Skyler assures them she will call it fair for both them. Standing by with Hutch Henries in the interview area is The Rock. Rock failed in his bid to capture the heavyweight championship at Survival, but he is not bothered by that. He admits there is show shame in losing to a man who at one point held every championship this company has to offer…but where does this leave the Rock now? He’s not sure. He looks up and down the roster, lots of big names he sees, however he wonders if they have what it takes to go one on one with the great one. He mentions that Wade Barrett did, and he has the gold around his waste to prove it, but the rock does not need more championship gold, he begins to run down his resume when Brian Kendrick interrupts him. Kendriks tells the Rock everyone knows what he’s done in the ring and on the big screen, but there’s one thing that the great Rocky Maivia has not done, and that’s go one on one with him. Rocky thinks Kendrick is messing with him at first, but Rock can tell that Kendrick is being serious. The Rock decides to humour the situation and mentions that he notices Kendrick’s Canadian National Championship belt, but he asks Kendrick his name. Kendrick manages to get out before Rock can cut him off to cut the games. Kendrick explains he’s here for one reason, to challenge The Rock. It doesn’t matter to him if it’s title or non-title, the Rock has something that Kendrick wants, and that’s immortality. Guys like Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett can say that during their respective careers they beat one of the biggest names in the game, and that’s something that will be forever etched into history. Kendrick tells Rock that he wants to do the same. The Rock notes that compared to likes of Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett, Kendrick is more of a vanilla midget than a threat. However Rock can respect the attitude that Kendrick brought before him, and if it’s a challenge Kendrick wants to throw down then Kendrick can consider it accepted. Following the interview, Steven Richards is joined by the Motor City Machine Guns in his ‘office.’ Richards likes their timing as he was about to send for them. Richards heard what was said by the new champions, as well as the Dudleys. He had to look into it, and it turns out that Bubba Ray and D-Von do indeed have valid contracts, and with the interaction between the two teams he will make the match between the two at Full Metal official. However the MCMGs won’t go away empty handed. He mentions that Shelley and Sabin do deserver a chance to regain the gold, as does one half of the team that beat them, Tye Dillinger. So if Dillinger can find a partner in time and is still interested then he will sign Tye Dillinger and a partner of his choosing vs the Motor City Machine Guns, and the winning team will be next in line for a shot at tag team gold. If for some reason Dillinger opts not to compete in the tag division at this time then he will find a replacement team for the guns to face. Sabin and Shelley feel like they should be first in line, however they accept Richards’ decision. Before the show’s next commercial break, Kevin Steen is shown at remote location, hosting a special edition of the Kevin Steen Show. Steen welcomes the fans to his show, he’s our host, and soon to be our next world champion. He’s not going to let Harry Smith, The Miz, nor Rob Rage screw him out of what he calls his rightful title shot that he won at Survival, putting over the 4-way match at Full Metal before he introduces his guest, who like him is a former world champion, Chris Jericho. Steen welcomes Jericho to the show before bringing up Jericho’s upcoming match with Kenny Omega. Steen’s heard people talking about how that match could very well be like their last match together, and could very well be a show stealer. Steen asks how Jericho plans on topping the 4-way hell in a cell match main event. Jericho informs Steen while he could easily do it, he does not plan on stealing the show at Full Metal, however he does plan on robbing Kenny Omega of what is left of his career. Jericho gives Omega credit however, Omega gave it to him just as said as he gave it to Omega last time out. He does not agree with Bischoff’s order to keep both of them from the ring until then, however he will be ready when the time comes, and he knows Omega will as well. When asked what his plans are after he defeats Omega for a second time, Jericho states it would be foolish not to keep an eye on the heavyweight championship scene. While he calls Omega a tough opponent, he feels he can give anyone in the upcoming hell in a cell match, as well as Wade Barrett, a worthy challenge. Jericho knows that Steen knows what it means to be champion, you have that target on your chest that doesn’t go away. Jericho’s been there multiple times before, and the only thing that stands in his way from taking another shot is Kenny Omega. Not to take away from Steen, but Jericho states he is the best in the world at what he does, and at Full Metal Kenny Omega will find out first hand why Chris Jericho is thee best in the damn world. Steen thanks Jericho for his time before telling the fans to tune into the Kevin Steen show next week, for his guest will be Jericho’s opponent, Kenny Omega. When the show returns a vignette hyping the arrival of Goldust airs. He starts off with the line “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in…The Godfather: Part 3” before explaining he had a chance to call it a career and walk off into the sunset, however he began thinking what hasn’t he done yet, he feels something remains unfinished. He can feel that he has another award winning performance left in him, but the question remains when and where…He looks like he knows the answer, and tells the viewers to stay tuned. Once the spot ends Eddie Sapps and his team are shown, already in the ring. Sapps appears to the team’s captain. Heath Slater’s ‘More Than One Man’ theme brings out Heath Slater and his team, which consists of Alex Bryce and Damien Maxwell. It was confirmed earlier in the evening that the boss would be in action tonight as to prepare for his upcoming bout with AJ Styles, but against who wasn’t mentioned. Eddie Sapps, Ryan Swift, Brandon Hynes vs Alex Bryce, Heath Slater, Damien Maxwell Slater starts off for his team, however Sapps wants Damien in there instead. Slater asks the crowd if they want to see it, and he gives them what they want and makes the tag. Damien comes in, but Slater gets tagged back as the boss feels Slater’s got this. They debate on who should start, both yielding to the other, until Bryce tags them both. That works for them. Sapps is annoyed by this and tags in Hynes. Bryce and Hynes start things off. Slater gets tagged in after a minute as Bryce has control of Hynes. Slater takes over and does well, until he gets a little bit cocky, which gives Hynes and opening and goes for the eyes to get himself some distance. Swift tags in, which he and Hynes make use of referee Chris Truax’s count for a short double team. Slater gets pulled the opposing corner and Sapps holds him illegally. Damien attempts to make the save but the referee catches him and holds him back. Both Damien and Bryce tell the ref to turn around, but that doesn’t happen until Damien returns to the corner, which by that time Sapps let go. The same happens moments later when Sapps is the legal man for his team, but gives the double chin flip towards Bryce, which draws him in. Like last time it doesn’t do Slater any favours. Luckily for him, once everyone else is back in their respective corner, Hynes tags in and looks to put the finishing touches on Slater, but Slater manages to catch him with a jumping cutter. Both men down. The referee gets to a count of seven before both men make tags at their respective corners. Sapps tags in, Damien tags in. It’s your typical face team double down tag comeback as Swift rushes in and gets taken down as well after a couple of knockdowns on both Swift and Sapps. Bryce comes in to even the odds and knocks Swift over the top rope. While making sure to avoid Damien and Sapps, Bryce takes to the air as Swift finds his footing, throwing himself at Swift, taking him back down. Back inside the ring Damien gets control of Sapps and sets him up for the Canadian Destroyer. He gets all of it. Damien with the cover, that would have been three if Hynes didn’t make the save. Bryce looks to get back in the ring, but Hynes sees him coming and knocks him off the apron. Hynes ignore’s the referee’s orders to return to his team’s corner. He brushes off the referee a second time before being turned around by Heath Slater and takes a chartbuster. Hynes it’s still on his feet, but dazed. Slater follows up with a second chartbuster, causing Hynes to fly back like Scott Hall use to do. Slater gets ushered out of the ring by the official as Damien’s back on his feet now that Hynes is no where near. Sapps is still down from the Canadian Destroyer. He’s had a short time to recover after almost being pinned, but is unable to get back to his feet. As he attempts to do so Damien grabs the legs and applies the sharpshooter. Slater and Bryce prevent Swift from making the save and Sapps is forced to tap out. Post bell Don Callis comments we might not have seen much from the boss in this once since it was a 6-man tag, however from what we did see from him Callis is sure Damien will be ready for AJ Styles. Swift and Hynes have to help Sapps back to the locker room after the winning team heads backstage after a short in-ring celebration. Hutch Henries is standing outside of Eric Bischoff’s office, hoping to get an update on the meeting between Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff. Heyman exits the office and Hutch approaches, looking for an update on the situation. Heyman informs him that while there is no official deal in place at this exact moment, he does confirm that he and Eric Bischoff have come to an agreement in principle. He will be in contact with his client shortly to discuss the potential deal. Heyman takes his leave and Hutch enters Bischoff’s office to get Bischoff’s side of the story. Bischoff confirms what Heyman said seconds ago. When asked about details Bischoff states both he and Heyman agreed not to talk about the details publicly until a contract is signed, however he strongly feels a deal is close to becoming a reality, it’s just a matter of waiting on the meeting between Heyman and his client to see where we go from here. With that being said he asks Hutch what the big scoop of the night so far is. Hutch mentions the decision Richards made regarding the tag division, as well as the message sent by Nick Watts towards Sami Zayn and Jack Swagger. Bischoff permits Richards’ call on the matter to stand, and he’ll keep an eye on eye on the situation involving Watts. While he agrees that Watts currently possesses a belt that is not legally his, Bischoff is curious to see where Watts will go with it. Before the action returns to the ring cameras catch up with the winning team from the 6-man tag. They talk about how things went out there when Team FIST jumps both Heath Slater and Alex Bryce. Damien Maxwell keeps his distance, opting not to get involved, though Chuck Taylor warms him to stay out of the way anyway. They have a referee with them and Slater is in danger of losing the Ironman Championship. Taylor and Akuma take Bryce out of the picture, however as that is going on Icarus pins Slater for the belt. Taylor tells Icarus that wasn’t part of the plan, though Akuma tells him at least one of them has it, and they can worry about who holds is later, just they have to leave with it. Taylor and Icarus agree with that, but before they can leave Zack Ryder and Big T decide to get involved. Jeff Hardy passes by as this is going on, and he stops as Icarus gets knocked down in front of him. Hardy with the pin and he captures the belt. He picks it up and walks off. Damien calls for order and informs the others of what just happened. Ryder asks where Jeff went, and they all give chase when pointed in the right direction. Damien looks relieved that he managed to avoid getting caught in the crossfire there. Act Yasukawa vs Kris Wolf As confirmed earlier in the show Skyler Raye served as the guest referee for this one. She gives them both a loose leash, but does get on Wolf’s case at one point where she bit Act on the butt after a few minutes in, so Skyler did stay true to her word that should be fair to both sides. Not long after that Act increased the tempo until she put Wolf away with an omega driver to pick up the pinfall. With the win Act joins Charlotte in the ladder match at Full Metal. Two spots remain, which it is confirmed that one of those spots will be filled next week by either Kana or Natalya as they go head to head. Before the show’s final commercial break Sami Zayn and AJ Styles are shown near the gorilla position. Both men shake hands leading to the final tv timeout of the evening, for they’re up next. Before it gets to them however, cameras catch up with Jeff Hardy when the show returns. Matt was nearby and he decided to help his brother out. Slater got knocked away from the group upon Matt’s arrival. He landed near some crates, one of which had an unopened mountain dew. He decided to down it and rejoin the battle. He grabbed Akuma and floored him with a chart buster. He then gave Alex Bryce one, then everyone else, finishing with Jeff. He pinned Jeff to regain the belt. Slater picked up the belt and took off. Sami Zayn vs AJ Styles. After a couple of minutes Rob Rage hit the ringside area. His music played which caused both competitors to stop what they were doing. Rage called for a mic and directed his words at AJ Styles. Rage warns Styles that regardless of his match at Full Metal goes to not pursue the world heavyweight title in the near future. Because if he wins at Full Metal, and by some miracle wins at Starcade, he will have a briefcase to challenge the soon to be heavyweight champ, the Supernova of Superstars, anytime he wishes. Rage warns Styles that anytime is still the wrong time to get on the bad side of Rage, so if Styles wants to go through with it then Styles will end up signing his own death warrant. As far as Sami Zayn is concerned, the same goes for him as well, but he wants to believe that the current Internet Championship will know his place and stick to being the mid-card hero for those keyboard warriors who won’t leave their parents’ basement. He joins the announce team to hype up the upcoming hell in a cell match. The match continues, but after a few minutes comes out as well, no theme though unlike Rage. He appears to be out here to only keep an eye on Rage. When the action spills to the floor it gets taken towards the table. Rage tells Smith to mind his own business as he lets Styles and Zayn to go about their business. Zayn slides back in and looks to take to the air. Zayn knocks Styles down and into Rage. Rage grabs Styles, though Smith still has his eyes on Rage. Rage lets Styles go, but then confronts Smith. Referee Jimmy Korderas was telling Rage to let Styles go, and when Rage did the official tried to keep Rage and Smith apart. They come to blows and they take their fight into the ring. Zayn grabs Styles and tosses him back in as well. The ref attempts to get Rage and Smith to vacate the ring, though Rage shoves him out of the way. Korderas hits the ropes and goes down. Rage knocks down Smith before looking to take out his frustration further. Rage looks to spear both Zayn and Styles, who are still going at it. Rage charges in, Zayn gets out of the way in time, Styles isn’t as luck and he takes the spear. Rage knows he got one, but wonders where the other is. He turns around and Zayn plants Rage with a helluva kick. Rage stumbles back to the ropes and falls over, but he lands on his feet and shakes it off. Extra officials come out and attempt to get Rage to leave, though Smith helps them out by getting physical with him. Zayn know he just dodged a bullet there before noticing Styles is down. Zayn notices the referee trying to shake off what happened to him and quickly goes to the top rope. Zayn executes a 450 splash, landing perfectly on top of Styles. The referee slowly moves into position. Zayn has the leg hooked. Styles kicks out, but it’s clearly after the count of three. Don Callis calls an upset of the year candidate for sure, which Jim Ross states if that’s the case then part of the nomination should go to Rage for his interference. Zayn knowns he has some unintended assistance, but getting his arm raised by the referee gives him a noticeable boost of confidence. After stating on Zayn for a moment after the bell, cameras catch up with Smith and Rage backstage. Officials are still attempting to get them apart. Eric Bischoff arrives on the scene and demands order or he will remove them both from their match at Full Metal. If Rage wants to show his dominance and if Smith has issues with it, then Bischoff has an idea. Next week’s main event will be Harry Smith vs Rob Rage in a chain match. Both Smith and Rage like what they hear. Rage backs away while telling Smith he’ll see him them to close the show. Edited by Maxy, Feb 18 2018, 12:56 AM.

- Solid win to open the show for Jack Swagger. He and Jim Cornette are a good fit. Can't help but feel James R. Kennedy has someone new up his sleeve ready and waiting at Full Metal. - Figured Charlotte would win. Very happy to see her moving on to the Ladder Match. Looking forward to see where Katie Lea goes from here with the Intercontinental Championship. - Act Yasukawa did a good job qualifying for the Ladder Match. Even though she is yet to qualify, my pick to win is Kana. You're doing a hell of a job with her as of late. - Shocked to see Sami Zayn pull out the win against AJ Styles despite the interference from Rob Rage. The Chain Match next week should be a great one. It's a long time coming. |
