RELOADED MATCH #1: Noam Dar defeated Ryan Smile (with Damian Dunne) via submission with the Champagne Super Kneebar. RELOADED MATCH #2: Joe Hendry defeated Mike Bailey via submission with the Olympic Slam followed by the Ankle Lock. RELOADED MATCH #3: Will Ospreay defeated Zack Gibson via pinfall with the Oscutter. The show closed with the victor celebrating. EPW Live #97 The broadcast opens with a video recap of last week's episode showing Mark Haskins aligning with Jimmy Havoc and Bram leading to the trio beating down the #1 contender at the conclusion of the show. We also saw The C.C.K call out Austin Aries and Jay Lethal who attacked them at EPW Live #95: Winds Of Change, Awesome Kong destroy Nikki Cross and Xia Brookside in the ring, Drew Galloway turn down the opportunity to join The Corporate Entourage only for Nathan Cruz to jump him from behind to take the spot for himself, Marty Scurll accepted Zack Sabre Jr.'s challenge for a match at EPW Live #100: This Is England 2 and Travis Banks revealed that he and The Aussie Open have joined forces to form a new stable; Australasian Strong Style. Tonight's show takes place in Devon. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness welcome the viewing audience from behind the broadcast desk and run down the scheduled card which includes Trent Seven vs. Nathan Cruz, Zack Sabre Jr. vs. RJ Singh, The Glaswegian Assembly vs. The Aussie Open and a 10 Woman Gauntlet Match. We also have word that Austin Aries and Jay Lethal will not be here tonight as requested by The C.C.K however they will address us via satellite from an undisclosed location. 'Bruiserweight' by CFO$ blares over the speakers to a deafening roar from the crowd. There was doubt that Pete Dunne would be able to make it to the show tonight due to the beating he sustained at the hands of Mark Haskins, Jimmy Havoc and Bram last week. The former champion emerges from the back with his trademark sledgehammer over his shoulder. He heads to the ring and immediately demands a microphone from the ringside area which he is given. The Bruiserweight doesn't beat around the bush. Dunne isn't just going to roll over and let one little beating get between him and 'his' EPW British Undisputed Championship. He wants The Sanguinary to confront him in the ring right now so he can take each of their heads with his sledgehammer. The fans in attendance approve. As he begins to get angrier, 'Regality' by Jim Johnston plays to signify the arrival of our commissioner. William Regal walks through the curtain with a stern look on his face. The boss has The Corporate Entourage in tow. He informs us that he will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and orders every member of security in the backstage area to come down to the ring. Mr. Regal then informs Dunne he will not be welcome back in an EPW arena until he can conduct himself in a professional manner. Once he is done talking, security has filled the ring with a couple of police officers. The #1 contender shows some resistance. He is soon handcuffed by the police and dragged out. The boss watches on with an evil grin on his face. Trent Seven (with Tyler Bate) vs. Nathan Cruz Drew Galloway was offered a substantial amount of money to join William Regal's Corporate Entourage however after turning down the offer, he was attacked from behind by Nathan Cruz. The Prima Donna then joined the commissioner on the stage and it appeared that he was taking the spot in the boss' faction instead. He slowly makes his way down to a new entrance theme; 'Professional' by Hot Tag Media Works. The crowd shower him with boos. The mood changes when Trent Seven steps through the curtain. He is welcomed with cheers and his tag team partner Tyler Bate who we haven't seen in several weeks is by his side. The Iron Master joins the commentary team for a guest spot during this match. He informs us that he was attacked several weeks ago in the gym. Bate didn't see who the attacker was and doesn't know when he will be able to return to the ring. The match begins with the feeling out process. Several lock ups later, Seven manages to force Cruz in to the corner and blasts him with a few overhand chops. He then tries to follow up with a Running Powerslam. The newest member of The Corporate Entourage escapes before turning the tables with a Running High Knee. Once Trent staggers back in to the turnbuckles, he is nailed with several quick-fire right hands until he falls to the canvas. Cruz then begins to stomp down on his grounded opponent and points out his tag partner behind the broadcast desk. Cruz sits on the top rope to await Seven to slowly find a vertical base. When he does, the arrogant heel flies through the air for a Diving Double Knee Facebreaker. His opponent counters before sitting him back on the ropes. The Bombardier of Battery then executes a Superplex from the ropes for a two count. The momentum is now in the court of the brawler from Birmingham. He pulls off a Spinning Backfist and a Vertical Suplex. Cruz decides to take a breather on the outside. Seven then teases a Suicide Dive but is blasted with a Big Boot when he flies through the ropes. Back in the ring, Nathan Cruz quickly lifts him up on his shoulders to execute the One Night Stand. The leg is hooked. The referee count. Trent Seven gets his shoulder up just before three. The Prima Donna is furious that his finisher couldn't get the job done. He slowly rolls in to the corner with his eye on his opponent. It looks as if Cruz is stalking his prey for a Running Punt Kick. As he charges forward, Seven finds the strength to avoid the move and deliver the Seven Stars Lariat. The fans go nuts. He drapes one arm over the chest of his adversary. The official counts again. Cruz kicks out just before the three. This match rolls on. Both men climb to their feet. Seven scores a boot to the gut to attempt his Spinning Piledriver finisher; the Seventh Heaven. It is countered at the last second in to a Back Body Drop. Cruz drops to one knee for a moment. As his opponent turns round, he is dropped by one punch. The Bombardier of Battery drops like a sack of potatoes. The Prima Donna hooks the leg and the referee counts. Nathan Cruz is the winner but wastes no time sticking around. He quickly escapes to the backstage area before the official can raise his arm in victory. In the mean time, Trent Seven is knocked out cold on the mat and is checked on by Tyler Bate. Ranallo and McGuinness request a replay from the truck. From another camera angle we can clearly see Nathan Cruz pull out brass knuckles from his trunks just before drilling his opponent for the concluding move. It appears as if he has stolen a trick from William Regal's play book. Drew Galloway is watching on a monitor backstage. The Celtic Colossus launches his water bottle across the room and looks pissed at what's just gone down. Jennifer Louise is on the scene to interview him. She asks why he ultimately decided to turn down the offer to join The Corporate Entourage last week. Galloway declares that he can understand the men who do take the money to work for William Regal. This is their livelihood and if they have to kiss ass to make more money then that's what they're gonna do. He isn't one of those wrestlers and he isn't willing to stand by and watch those corporate stooges rise to the top. The heavyweight from Scotland thinks there are men around this locker room that want to succeed the right way. That's why he is going to form an army to take on this corporate bullshit. He then throws down a challenge to The Corporate Entourage to take three of their best guys to take on him and two partners at EPW Live #100: This Is England 2 in a Six-Man Tag Team Elimination Match. Jennifer Louise thanks Drew Galloway for his time as he stares down the camera lens. A bold statement made by The Celtic Colossus. Zack Sabre Jr. vs. RJ Singh The challenge was accepted by Marty Scurll last week. At EPW Live #100: This Is England 2, we will see the former Leaders of the New School go one-on-one in the ring in what is sure to be a classic encounter. The last time the two faced was back at EPW Live #21 where the then Global Championship Wrestling contracted superstar beat the dastardly heel for his title belt. The Technical Wizard enters the ring to cheers. Nigel McGuinness tells us he spoke to Sabre Jr. earlier today and he won't be taking his opponent lightly. He knows RJ Singh is an experienced competitor who managed to score a few wins over him several years ago. Things have changed though. The Bollywood Dream makes his way down to the ring with his eye on his opponent. Once he steps through the ropes, he can't help but turn round and yell at the crowd which riles them up. The match begins with some chain-wrestling. The grappler from Kent gets the best of the former backstage interviewer. Singh tries to go hold for hold with his opponent but is outclass. He finds himself locked in a Fujiwara Armbar. As RJ finds the ropes, Sabre Jr. respectfully lets hold of his adversary with a cheeky grin on his face. The Bollywood Dream aggressively fights back. He drills Zack with a Discus Forearm Smash to send him staggering before dropping him with an Arm-Trap Neckbreaker for a one count. The heel tries to lock on a Sharpshooter but is dragged down in to an Indian Death Lock. Singh manages to hold on for a while. He clearly debates tapping but manages to escape the submission. Sabre Jr. quickly follows up with a Springboard Enzuiguri out of the corner and then delivers a Northern Lights Suplex with a bridge for a two count. He rolls him back down with a School Boy before taking his head off with a Running Soccer Kick. The crowd wince as the move is executed. RJ holds his chest in agony. He doesn't get much time to recover though. His opponent quickly locks on the Cross Armbreaker in the middle. The Bollywood Dream taps out. Zack Sabre Jr. is the winner and has his arm raised. He requests a microphone which is handed to him. He addresses the Marty Scurll situation. The match is on in three weeks however The Technical Wizard wants to up the ante and proposes that they make it a Submission Match. It appears the fans in Devon like the idea. After static appears on the titantron, Marty Scurll is staring down the camera with that evil grin on his face. The Villain chuckles to himself before claiming that his rival is playing right in to his hands. He then promises to choke Sabre Jr. out with the Crossface Chickenwing on the grandest stage of them all. The dastardly heel then disappears from the titantron when static appears once again. This grudge match at EPW Live #100: This Is England 2 is now officially a Submission Match. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness cut to footage from two weeks ago when Austin Aries and Jay Lethal invaded the ring to beat down The C.C.K at EPW Live #95: Winds Of Change. The North American imports had no clearance to be in attendance at the show and were run off by several babyfaces. Last week, Chris Brookes and Kid Lykos dared their attackers to confront them face-to-face to fight them like men. Austin Aries and Jay Lethal were not granted access to the building tonight however they are standing by from an undisclosed location via satellite link. They both look rather pleased with themselves having watched the footage back. As Mauro Ranallo begins to welcome them, Jay Lethal cuts him off and says they don't need any questions because they are doing all the talking. The self-proclaimed greatest first generation wrestler laughs that The C.C.K appear to think they are even on the same level as them. He tells them that this isn't about Brookes and Lykos before claiming they are barely a dot on their radar. Austin Aries is next to pipe up. The Common Denominator of Greatness reveals that the two of them don't have time to waste so he is going to cut to the chase and reveal why they did what they did. Shane McMahon has apparently sent them over here to give the fans in England a little taste of what the world can expect from his new THRIVE promotion. He claims that when they return to North America they will be in possession of the EPW British Tag Team Championships and will be demanding a hefty bonus when they lay those belts on the desk of their new boss. A Double finally says that if they aren't given a title match then they will find another way in to another EPW show to give Brookes and Lykos another beating before just taking the belts from them. Nigel McGuinness then pipes up. The retired wrestler turned colour commentator calls his former colleagues cowards and asks about the beef Shane McMahon has with this company. Lethal simply claims that they're just carrying out the bosses orders. The two pull off their mics and leave the room to put an end to this so called interview. The Glaswegian Assembly vs. The Aussie Open (with Travis Banks) Last week we saw the formation of another heel faction; Australasian Strong Style. The group is led by Travis Banks who has recently split from long-term tag team partner TK Cooper and his enemies turned allies Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher. They all enter to the sound of 'Close Your Eyes' by Run The Jewels. The fans direct a barrage of boos at the trio who don't seem phased by this reaction. The Kiwi Buzzsaw snatches the microphone from ring announcer Jim Smallman and orders the crowd in Devon to show some decorum. This only riles them up further. Banks then calls out his former partner for the second week in a row whilst grinning. There is no answer to his call. The Aussie Open laugh whilst Travis calls his ex-best friend a weak coward who he carried through the longest EPW British Tag Team Championship reign in this company's history. He then asks the crowd to imagine what he can do with a pair of real winners behind him. The tenacious antagonist from Auckland then raises the arms of Davis and Fletcher who seem delighted to have this endorsement. 'Iron Man' by Black Sabbath begins to play which interrupts Travis Banks' promo. He is not happy but is told to step out to ringside whilst Joe Coffey and Wolfgang walk down to the ring. The Scottish heavyweights are looking to get back in the mix in the tag team division. Victory tonight could put them well on their way to a title shot. The contest begins with them steam rolling in and taking it to the heels who soon retreat to ringside. Devon goes nuts as The Glaswegian Assembly look like they mean business. The referee finally restores order. Joe Coffey and Mark Davis are the legal men. The Iron Man nails his opponent with some knife-edge chops, a Stinger Splash, a German Suplex and the Big Swing. He then tags out to his partner who executes a Moonsault from the middle rope for a two count. Wolfgang tries to pull The Dunkzilla up. The Australian heavyweight responds with a headbutt to the chest followed by a Running Bulldog to turn the tables. He then slowly crawls to his corner and tags in his partner. In comes Kyle Fletcher who is careful about how he approaches this situation. The Aussie Arrow executes a Tornado DDT followed by a Lionsault for a two count. As he attempts a Falling Neckbreaker, Wolfgang clocks him with an elbow to the back of the head. The Regulator then executes the Wasteland to swing the momentum back in The Glaswegian Assembly's favour. He wants to head up high and deliver the Howling. Once he begins to climb the ropes, Travis Banks climbs up to try and distract his ally's opponent. The referee goes to send him to the back but Joe Coffey wipes him out with a Clothesline down to ringside. Kyle Fletcher has recovered though and quickly drills Wolfgang with an Enzuiguri to send him toppling back down to the canvas. He makes the tag. Mark Davis executes a Running Cannonball in to the corner on the legal man before knocking Coffey off the apron. When Wolfgang gets up, he is nailed with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. The leg is hooked. The referee counts. Joe Coffey tries to slide in to break the fall but Travis Banks holds on to his leg from ringside to stop him. The official doesn't see and counts three. The Aussie Open pick up the win. Davis and Fletcher make a hasty exit alongside their new associate Travis Banks who provided the assist. Australasian Strong Style utilised the numbers game tonight and it paid off. Back in the ring, Coffey and Wolfgang look angry at how things went down. They point at the trio and promise that they will get redemption. Jim Smallman is about to run down the rules for the main event when the sound of 'Stitches' by Acid Nymph is heard over the speakers. Mark Haskins, Vicky Haskins, Jimmy Havoc and Bram all walk out on to the stage all sporting t-shorts reading 'The Sanguinary' with the phrase 'the stitches have come undone' on the back. This new group are led by the champion who is handed the microphone by the ring announcer who quickly makes an exit. Jim Smallman knows better than to mess with this faction. Haskins demands the fans show him some respect before hoisting his belt above his head which just makes them boo even louder. The Hellbent Anti-Hero ignores the negative reaction and moves his attention on to the #1 contender Pete Dunne. He claims that he may not always see eye to eye with William Regal however he made the right call in banning his upcoming challenger from the building. The leader of this new group then stops when the crowd begin to direct a 'F*CK YOU HASKINS!' chant at the top of their lungs. He shakes his head before handing the microphone over to Jimmy Havoc. The King of the Goths immediately tells the crowd that they can go f*ck themselves because that's the that is the most action any of the nerdy virgins that fill up the arenas up and down the country are going to be getting for a long, long time. He claims that the four of them are on a mission to take over English Pro Wrestling. Apparently they want all the gold and they want all the power. Chants have now switched to 'F*CK YOU HAVOC!' The death match specialist doesn't look amused. Bram steps outside of the ring and starts arguing with one fan who is especially rowdy. The Chesterfield Plague looks like he is going to start a brawl with the fans until they are interrupted by Jack Gallagher. The Extraordinary Gentleman walks out on to the stage. He was last seen being beaten down in the ring by Havoc and Bram. The former champion express that he hasn't forgotten about this. He is still feeling the effects of the beat down. Gallagher is hardly Pete Dunne's biggest fan however these 'delinquents' seem to talk the talk now he's not in the building. What he wants to know is whether they can walk the walk inside of that ring. The classy underdog challenges Mark Haskins to a match right now. The champion immediately declines claiming that Gallagher is a has-been and he has nothing to gain by beating him. The Extraordinary Gentleman then asks Jimmy Havoc if he has the balls to face him. After having a think over it, The King of the Goths proposes that Gallagher steps in to the ring with Bram next week. He accepts. Bram then takes the microphone and states that their will be nothing left of Jack Gallagher once he's done with him. The ex-champ responds by telling him that he looks forward to doing battle with him next week. The segment ends with 'Toreador' playing once again whilst the heels in the ring yell down at the babyface standing on the stage. 10 Woman Gauntlet Match Jim Smallman steps back in once The Sanguinary have left the squared circle. He reveals that two women will start the match with a new entrant coming down every sixty seconds with eliminations occurring by pinfall, submission, disqualification or over the top rope. The winner will earn herself a shot at the EPW British Women's Championship at EPW Live #100: This Is England 2. The first entrant is Jinny Couture. The Resident Fashionista makes her way down the aisle with her purse in one hand and a microphone in the other. The arrogant heel tries to get the crowd to listen but they heckle her. Eventually Jinny decides to ignore them and announces that she has received a rather large sum of money through an investment she made a while ago. She offers her opponents tonight cash rewards to eliminate themselves from the match so that she can take her rightful place as the #1 contender again. Mauro Ranallo jokes that wrestling has found itself The Million Dollar Woman. Nigel McGuinness reminds him that the sterling here in England is pounds however they both have a laugh about it. The second entrant is Nixon Newell. The Welsh Destroyer debates the offer before taking a wad of cash from her opponent and bailing over the top rope. Newell ignores the jeers from the crowd whilst she wanders to the back. That has to be the easiest payday of her career. Once the timer runs down, Kay Lee Ray makes her way down the aisle and approaches Couture with a smile on her face. The Killer opens her hand to signal that she wants to accept the offer too. The Resident Fashionista goes to hand over the cash but is then blasted with a Discus Clothesline. The fans cheer as the longest-reigning EPW British Women's Champion of the modern era sends Jinny in to each corner before nailing her with several knife-edge chops. She then rolls her down with a Snapmare and follows up with Forward Somersault Cutter for a two count. The fourth entrant is Bea Priestley who jogs down to join in on the action. The sinister heel goes straight for Kay Lee Ray. Her and Jinny Couture join forces to beat down the former champion together. They can't quite get her over the top rope yet though. The Killer's only hope of getting back in this one is a babyface to come down and help event the odds. Her luck is out when Priestley's tag team partner Nikki Cross is the fifth entrant. The three heels immediately dump Kay Lee Ray out to ringside and then take in some boos from the crowd. There is a tense stand-off at first. Jinny grabs her purse again to offer them a pay out. They snatch the purse from her and then step over the ropes to eliminate themselves. The Resident Fashionista has bought her way to this point. She has no money on her now though and watches on as the clock counts down. 'Keep It 100' echoes around the building to cheers and Dahlia Black sprints down. It goes without saying that she won't be taking any cash. Her main motivation is getting back her title. She floors Couture with a Dropkick, nails her with the Side Effect and climbs up top to execute the Dark Side of the Moonsault for a three count. Jinny has been eliminated. The New Zealand beauty stands tall. As she gets up, in runs Laura Di Matteo who is entrant number seven. The two engage in some chain wrestling which is fairly back and forth. The underdog from Italy applies a Kimura Lock which causes Black a lot of pain. They are slap bang in the middle of the ring. Instead of tapping, Dahlia begins to fight back and drops her opponent with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Next in is Xia Brookside. She takes to the air right away to nail the former champion with a Missile Dropkick. The Wildcat then scores a two count on Di Matteo with a Bridging Tiger Suplex. The match continues on until the ninth entrant's music plays. It is Viper. Things are about to pick up. This environment will suit The Vixen Of Violence to the ground. She blasts each of her opponents with a Clothesline after entering. Laura Di Matteo is then dumped to ringside with a Gorilla Press Slam and Xia Brookside is pinned with the Viper Driver. After the pin, Dahlia Black then leaps on to the back of Viper. She is then thrown over the top rope just before the ten second counter begins for the final entrant. 'Empire March' by Dale Oliver begins to play to the confusion of the fans in attendance, the viewing audience and the commentary team. Awesome Kong marches down the aisle whilst Mauro Ranallo is listening to some breaking news over his headset. If the reigning champion wins then apparently there will be no women's match at EPW Live #100: This Is England 2. Nigel McGuinness describes that as a possible final nail in the coffin for our women's division. Kong charges at Viper. Her opponent pulls down the rope at the final second and the crowd pops when the champion topples over with both feet hitting the floor. Viper is the #1 contender. Her arm is raised by Jessika Carr however Awesome Kong gets back in the ring and the champion begins to brawl with the winner. They toss each other back and forth. Punches are traded. This is an all-out brawl. A fleet of security charge out to break it up however they still manage to keep breaking free. Awesome Kong even manages to pull a chunk out of Viper's hair. The security team finally get a hold of the situation just before the show goes off the air. It's now official. Awesome Kong defends her EPW British Women's Championship against Viper in three weeks at EPW Live #100: This Is England 2. |

After the opening segment it's a good thing that Regal has hired goond watching his back. With how Dunne left the ring at the start of the show he'll need it. RJ did better than I thought he would have against Sabre Jr, but fitting that Jr. went over. Must be rough for TK Cooper seeing his former partner doing his thing while he sits at home. Nice little exchange on commentary about different world currency before the start of the main. Good thing the first person Jinny didn't encounter was Canadian or Japanese, otherwise we would have been here for a bit on that one. Not sure how much Nixon grabbed, but hopefully she doesn't spend it all in one place. A bit surprised by Kong entering the match, at least the stipulation of her involvement was mentioned to the viewers at home. Had a feeling Viper would come out on top when she entered ninth. #1 contender and champion didn't waste any time going at it after the bell. Expectations are now high for their upcoming match. Hopefully Regal can keep them in line before hand. |
