RELOADED MATCH #1: Nixon Newell defeated Bea Priestley via pinfall with the Shining Wizard for the three count. After the match, the winner celebrated with the Welsh flag draped over her shoulders in her home country. RELOADED MATCH #2: The Second City Collective defeated The South Pacific Power Couple via pinfall when Damian Dunne drills Dahlia Black with a Superkick for the three count whilst Ryan Smile held off TK Cooper. RELOADED MATCH #3: Will Ospreay defeated Kip Sabian via pinfall with the Oscutter. The loser grabbed a microphone after the bell and challenged the victor to an immediate rematch. Ospreay beat him again with the Oscutter. EPW Live #102 The broadcast begins with a recap of last week's episode showing Drew Galloway, Joe Coffey & Wolfgang defeating Big Damo, Joe Hendry & Mark Davis in the main event. We also saw Zack Sabre Jr., Will Ospreay, Josh Bodom and Travis Banks advance to the next round of the Junior Division Tournament, Pete Dunne attacked from behind in the ring by Nathan Cruz, Jinny Couture steal a victory from Nixon Newell and Viper was congratulated by the majority of the female locker room on her recent title win. Tonight's show begins with the camera showing a sell out crowd in Swansea, Wales. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness are on hand to welcome the audience watching at home. They reveal that the first round matches in the Atlas Division Tournament take place right here tonight with two mystery entrants added to the mix. Also, The C.C.K joins forces with Zack Sabre Jr. to do battle with The Sanguinary and the women's division have all been requested to come down to ringside by management later on this evening. 'Professional' by Hot Tag Media Works plays over the arena speakers to signify that Nathan Cruz is about to make his presence known. The Prima Donna soon makes his way down to the ring dressed in a suit and sporting a smug grin on his face. Whilst he enters, we are shown a replay of him sucker punching Pete Dunne last week from behind and then knocking him out cold with brass knuckles. Cruz wastes no time in calling out the reigning EPW British Undisputed Championship to the ring. The commentary team inform us that The Bruiserweight is out in North America defending his title. This is common knowledge amongst everybody in the locker room and Nigel McGuinness calls this a cowardly statement. Cruz's cowardice continues when he reveals that he has been named the new #1 contender to a chorus of boos. He then tells Dunne that he 'can't run forever'. Finally, The Prima Donna announces that he will be taking his title shot in three week's time in Belfast, Ireland and not here in this cesspool country. After declaring this as a country full of inbred lowlifes, the #1 contender leaves to a chorus of jeers. Big Damo vs. Wolfgang This is a first round match in the Atlas Division Tournament to crown the inaugural champion. We saw both of these competitors brawl amongst themselves at the conclusion of last week's main event. There is no doubt that there is still bad blood brewing between them which will spill in to this bout. Wolfgang walks down to a cheer from the Welsh fans. As he steps through the ropes and steps up to the ropes to salute the crowd, they respond by chanting his name. Big Damo marches down the aisle next with evil intentions. The Beast From Belfast is still frustrated at recent events. The brawlers collide in the middle before the bell even rings. They trade stiff right hands in the middle until Damo lumps his adversary with a Headbutt. The Regulator staggers in to the turnbuckles. He falls victim to a Running Corner Splash and a Sidewalk Slam. The fans direct a 'DAMO SUCKS' chant at the Irish heavyweight. The monster runs the ropes to attempt a Running Leg Drop. Wolfgang avoids it. Once he finds his feet, he delivers a Running Neckbreaker before slowly climbing the ropes for a high-risk move. He flies through the air to nail a Moonsault from the second rope. The cover is made. The Beast From Belfast gets a shoulder up at two. Wolfgang tries to lift his opponent up for the Wasteland. Damo retaliates with some elbows to the skull and turns the tables with a Low Crossbody. The Regulator has had the wind taken out of him. It isn't long before a Powerbomb is executed followed up by an Elbow Drop to the chest for a two count of his own. The 320lb man beast is starting to get real angry now. He lifts Wolfgang for the Ulster Plantation but The Regulator isn't going down without a fight. The Scottish heavyweight counters in to a Victory Roll for two. As both men reach a vertical base, Wolfgang delivers a Discus Elbow Smash. His opponent no sells it and responds with a Fireman's Carry Slam, a Corner Slingshot Splash and a Running Senton. The Regulator is showing no signs of life. The Beast of Belfast applies the Cu Chullain's Wrath which chokes the final breath out of his foe. The referee calls for the bell. Big Damo is the winner and will advance to the next round. He isn't done yet though. The man beast drags his lifeless opponent to the outside, picks him up over his shoulder and thrusts him back first through the steel barricade. The damage has been done. Wolfgang needs urgent medical attention. The frustrated victor decides to make his exit. He isn't the fan's favourite person right now. Jennifer Louise is standing by in the backstage area for an interview with Jack Gallagher. The Extraordinary Gentleman is as polite and gracious ever. The interviewer asks him about his loss last week to Josh Bodom which Gallagher is quick to ready us of the controversial manner in which the bout ended. He doesn't agree with the method in which The Blonde Bomber used to pick up the victory however he knows that cheater never prosper and the arrogant youngster will get his comeuppance somewhere down the road. Jennifer poses the question about his own future. The former EPW British National Champion has a quick think. He soon refers back to the opening segment where Nathan Cruz boasted of his ambush of Pete Dunne on last week's episode which earned him a shot at the title. The Extraordinary Gentleman challenges The Prima Donna to face him in a singles match later on because it's about time a cheater finally got what he deserved and he wants to be the man to start dishing out the justice here in English Pro Wrestling. Jennifer Louise thanks him for his time to wrap up the interview. Will our #1 contender accept the challenge? Joe Coffey vs. Sha Samuels This is a first round match in the Atlas Division Tournament to crown the inaugural champion. We saw Joe Coffey on the winning side of last week's main event to prove himself as a front runner going in to this tournament. The Iron Man makes his way down the aisle with the support from the crowd. 'Commit Me To Memory' by Castiel blares over the speakers which is a familiar song to EPW fans. They soon let out a mixed reaction when Sha Samuels walks out on to the stage. It appears that The East End Butcher has returned to the company to join the ranks of our Atlas Division. Nigel McGuinness informs us that the brawler from London has been honing his craft over in Japan since his last stint in English Pro Wrestling. He appears hell bent on retribution following his prior release as he shoves the referee to one side to get straight to work on his opponent. Coffey is overwhelmed with several punches followed by a couple of overhand chops in the corner. Samuels then delivers an Exploder Suplex for an early pin attempt. He continues to control the match with some grounded offence. The fans begin to respond with boos as he starts barking at them to 'shut the f*ck up!' when they seem to deflate whilst he applies a rest hold. His opponent eventually battles back. Coffey nails a Clothesline, a Hip Toss, a German Suplex and a Big Swing in quick succession. The momentum has swung in favour of the Scottish heavyweight. As The Iron Man locks on the No Mercy Crab, the fans begins to chant his entrance theme in unison; 'Iron Man' by Black Sabbath. He can't help but crack a smile. Unfortunately Samuels manages to crawl to the ropes to break the hold. Coffey drags him up. The East End Butcher attempts a comeback after executing an Atomic Drop. He runs the ropes for a Running Lariat, his opponent ducks and then clatters him with the Discus Lariat. The cover is made. The referee counts three. Samuels managed to get his foot on the bottom rope at the final moment though. Coffey begins to stalk his prey to hit the finishing move again. As he approaches, he is lifted up and dropped with his opponent's finisher instead; the Spinning Spinebuster. The leg is hooked. The tights are hooked but the referee can't see. Steve Lynskey counts three. Sha Samuels picks up the win in his return bout to advance to the next round of the Atlas Division Tournament. The East End Butcher is delighted to have his arm raised. The crowd do not approve. He calls them mugs before ordering them once again to shut their f*cking mouths. Coffey has his head in his hands in the corner whilst his loud mouthed opponent exits the ring. Sha Samuels will face the winner of the main event in the next round. A limousine pulls up in the parking lot where Jennifer Louise is standing by to get a word with whoever is in it. As she approaches, the driver steps out to stop her from opening the door to see who is inside. They inform her that he will be taking no interviews at this time. William Regal is sat in his office with the rest of The Corporate Entourage watching this happen from a television on the wall. Joe Hendry questions whether the guy in the limo is who he will be facing in the main event before asking who it is. The commissioner claims to not know himself and tells his faction that this is a wrestler signed by the board of directors. This unsettles his troops who thought that he held all the power in English Pro Wrestling. He assures them that he does and whoever this 'mystery' entrant to the Atlas Division Tournament will be no threat to them. If they pose any kind of problem, he will offer them a position in the group. Hendry asks if he has a plan B if they decide not to take him up on his offer. At this point, the security crew step in to tell The Prestigious One that the commissioner has everything in hand. He takes a step back and tells the boss that he has every faith he has a firm grip on things before taking a seat again next to Nathan Cruz. Six Man Tag Team Match The Sanguinary (with Vicky Haskins) vs. The C.C.K & Zack Sabre Jr. This match all stems from an attempted beat down during the opening round of the Junior Division Tournament last week when Mark Haskins and Bram took it upon themselves to get involved in the Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Jimmy Havoc match. This led to a DQ however The C.C.K came to the aide of The Technical Wizard. Chris Brookes then challenged The Sanguinary to face them in a Six Man Tag Team Match which was accepted and promptly made for this week. The villainous stable are the first to make their way down the aisle with Vicky Haskins in their corner. It is Mark Haskins who leads the charge who has had a deranged look since losing his EPW British Undisputed Championship to Pete Dunne at EPW Live #100: This Is England 2. After the group make their entrance, The C.C.K walk out on to the stage to the sound of 'The Squid and The Wolf' by Hot Tag Media Works. Zack Sabre Jr. soon joins them and the trio rush down to the ring to kick off the action. The six men brawl between each other. Referee Chris Roberts eventually gets some decorum. Kid Lykos and Bram are the legal men to start things off. The heavyweight from Cheshire delivers a Big Boot, drops him with a Vertical Suplex and then locks on a Chin Lock with a Body Scissors. He also makes sure to clobber him with a Jumping Knee Drop before tagging out to Mark Haskins. The Hellbent Anti-Hero takes pleasure in punching and kicking Lykos in the corner. He then drags him out to nail him with a Full Nelson Slam. The crowd heckle the disgraced former champion which just fires him up even more and he proceeds to stomp a mud hole in to the flyweight in the corner. After following up with a Running Knee, he tags in Jimmy Havoc who lands on The Dirty Wolf with a Diving Double Knee Stomp from the top rope for a two count. The King Of The Goths carries on the assault until he sets up for the Acid Rainmaker. He applies the wrist lock and drags him in. The Dirty Wolf ducks to then dive over for the hot tag. Chris Brookes storms in to make the fiery comeback for his team. The Catch King delivers an Enzuiguri, a Japanese Arm Drag and a German Suplex right away to turn the tables. He then lifts Havoc in to an Electric Chair position whilst Zack Sabre Jr. tags himself in. The Technical Wizard ventures to the top rope to pull off the Doomsday Dropkick for a two count for his team. He then nails several stomps to the right leg, a Spinning Toe Hold and locks on an Ankle Lock. Havoc manages to roll out to tag in Mark Haskins. The Hellbent Anti-Hero charges in but walks runs straight in to a Fujiwara Armbar. Haskins yells out in pain and is asked by the official whether he wishes to submit. Before he can answer, Travis Banks appears at ringside to try and get in the ring. The C.C.K try to approach him but are intercepted by Havoc and Bram who deal with them. The distraction is enough for Haskins to drop Sabre Jr. with the Pumphandle Half Nelson Driver. He holds on for the pin. The official counts three. The Sanguinary pick up the win. The group have earned themselves an EPW British Tag Team Championship shot with the victory. They don't seem to want to hang around. Neither does Travis Banks who has cost the man he will take on in the next round of the Junior Division Tournament his match tonight. The leader of Australasian Strong Style may have just got the last laugh ahead of their singles bout on next week's episode. Kay Lee Ray is in the backstage area where she is approached by former rival Viper. The reigning EPW British Women's Champion wants to thank The Killer for her kind words last week. She meant every word when she said that she would represent this division and take it to new heights as champion. Kay Lee Ray responds by telling The Vixen of Violence that she has no doubt that she will live up to her word but she meant it when she said the women's locker room will be looking to knock her off her perch... including her. The champion tells her adversary that whenever The Killer wants a shot at the gold, she can have it. The two go there separate ways to end the segment. The rivalry between them may not be as hate driven as before but these two definitely still have that competitive edge about them. Drew Galloway vs. Mark Davis (with Kyle Fletcher) This is the third first round match in the Atlas Division Tournament of the evening. The winner will face Big Damo who made his presence known earlier this evening. Mark Davis was pinned last week by his opponent in the main event however he has brought back up with him tonight in the form of his tag team partner Kyle Fletcher. The Aussie Arrow accompanies The Dunkzilla down to the ring for this huge match. Drew Galloway marches down the aisle with the intention of carrying on the momentum on from last week's main event. They lock up after the bell rings. After pushing each other back and forth, Davis scores a Gut Kick and drops The Celtic Colossus with a Back Suplex. The brawler from Queensland does his best to keep his opponent grounded with mounted punches and a rest hold. Galloway eventually fights back and nails the Claymore for an early near fall. The heavyweight from Scotland delivers some knife-edge chops before executing a Lifting Sitout Spinebuster. It doesn't look like this is going to be hard work for him. Kyle Fletcher makes the bad choice to grab Galloway's foot from ringside. The huge Scot drags him in to the ring before taking his head off with a Short-Arm Clothesline. Fletcher rolls out to ringside. Davis takes advantage of the distraction and nails Galloway with a Low Dropkick. He then shoves him to the ropes to execute the Pop-Up Powerbomb on the rebound for a near fall of his own. Having already hit his finisher, The Dunkzilla wonders what else he can do to put his opponent away. The big Aussie takes to the second rope with a Diving Spear in mind. He leaps through the air. The babyface catches him and he is drilled in to the canvas with the Future Shock DDT. The leg is hooked. The referee counts three. Drew Galloway makes quick work of Mark Davis. The Celtic Colossus has his arm raised to officially confirm his place in the next round of the Atlas Division Tournament. The camera then turns to reveal Big Damo stomping down to the ring. The Beast From Belfast is quick to slide in to the ring and makes a beeline for his upcoming opponent in the next round. Galloway fights back through. He drills Damo with a Big Boot which staggers him. The Irish heavyweight is in a vulnerable position. The Celtic Colossus runs the ropes looking to send him packing with the Claymore. Damo moves at the final second sending Galloway flying in to the ropes. After he hits the canvas, the 320lb man beast locks on the Cu Chullain's Wrath. Galloway fought hard however has fallen victim to The Beast From Belfast's second beat down of the night. He eventually releases the hold once his rival goes limp and leaves the ring to an arena full of boos. Jennifer Louise is standing by for an interview in the locker room with Josh Bodom. The Blonde Bomber stole a victory from Jack Gallagher last week to advance to the next stage in the Junior Division Tournament. The cocky upstart expresses that this is a new start for him and he is willing to get to the top by any means necessary. He claims that Gallagher can bitch, moan and complain about his 'method of victory' all he likes but all that matters is that he is the one getting his arm raised. Bodom calls last week his coming out party. Apparently the Junior Division is his for the taking and he will make history by becoming the very first EPW British Junior Champion. Jennifer Louise asks what he thinks about his opponent in the next round; Will Ospreay. Bodom brands The Aerial Assassin a hyped up loser before questioning what exactly the high-flyer from Essex has actually done in English Pro Wrestling. Has he won any titles? No. Finally Bodom says what will separate them by the end of this tournament is that he will have gold around his waist and Ospreay will not. Jack Gallagher vs. Nathan Cruz (with William Regal) Pete Dunne managed to finally climb his way back to the top of the company by becoming EPW British Undisputed Champion two weeks ago to the chagrin of William Regal. The commissioner gave Nathan Cruz the go ahead to be the first of The Corporate Entourage to target the new champion and he did so in immediate fashion when he knocked him out with brass knuckles last week. The Prima Donna was named #1 contender earlier tonight and will face The Bruiserweight in three week's time with the gold at stake in Belfast. His behaviour as of late has caught the attention of Jack Gallagher who hopes to teach Cruz a lesson in the ring. The Extraordinary Gentleman was cheated out of his place in the Junior Division Tournament last week however is hell bent on getting retribution on another cowardly cheater instead. The fans approve of his mission statement and prove that by giving him a great reception during his entrance. Nathan Cruz is not afford the same response from the Welsh crowd. The Prima Donna walks down the aisle with William Regal by his side who will be on commentary for the duration of this match. The commissioner finds humour in Pete Dunne not being here tonight. Mauro Ranallo reminds the boss that it was him that sent him to North America to defend his belt to which he warns the play-by-play commentator to remember who pays his cheques. That soon shuts Ranallo up. The match begins with some back and forth chain wrestling. Regal claims that the #1 contender is 'one of the finest technicians on the planet'. McGuinness tries to balance that statement by claiming that Gallagher is arguably superior when it comes to catch-as-catch-can wrestling. The commissioner says if anybody is going to know anything about pure wrestling then it's him and orders the commentators to just call the match as it is. The former champion is quite evidently out-wrestling his opponent which riles Regal up even more. His associate does fight back by scoring a Running Knee Lift out of the corner. Cruz then turns the tables with a Diving Double Knee Facebreaker from the second rope. A rest hold causes the crowd to quieten down a little. Regal complains that these fans should be showing a little more appreciation for the future champion. As Gallagher attempts a comeback, The Prima Donna takes him straight back down to the canvas with his trademark Slingshot Teardrop Suplex for a two count. Cruz runs the ropes for a Jumping Knee Drop. He misses. Gallagher then drops him with a Headscissors Takedown and then flies through the air to nail a Swandive Headbutt. The grappler from Manchester stalks the corporate stooge as he finds his feet in the corner. He then executes the Gentleman's Dropkick for the cover. The referee counts. The #1 contender kicks out. William Regal wipes his brow at ringside. Gallagher starts to apply the Achilles Lock but Cruz manages to kick him from behind and sends his opponent crashing face first in to the middle turnbuckle. On his way back, The Prima Donna lifts him to execute his finisher; the One Night Stand. The leg is hooked. The referee counts and lands three. Nathan Cruz picks up a huge win. As his arm is raised, Regal brags to the commentary team and then tosses his headset down. The boss has gone power crazy. We knew that already though. The commissioner joins his ally in the ring. He raises his arm in victory before passing him brass knuckles from his jacket pocket. The chosen challenger awaits Gallagher to find his feet. He turns. The loser is then clobbered with one punch which knocks him out cold. With a grin on his face, Cruz places the brass knuckles in to his trunks. Could they be his key to winning the gold in three week's time? William Regal sure hopes so. As we return from the commercial, the entire women's division has been summoned to ringside and surround the ring. 'Faint' by Linkin Park plays across the arena speakers to a cheer. That cheer turns to a huge pop when out walks wrestling veteran Sweet Saraya with a smile on her face. The Queen of The Knight Dynasty walks down the aisle high fiving on her way to the ring. The majority of the women around the ring nod their heads in approval however are confused as to why she is here. Mauro Ranallo reminds us that she was traded to the now defunct Global Championship Wrestling over one year ago. Nigel McGuinness comments that she is evidently back but what could give her this much pull to get the whole women's locker room out here to welcome her back. Saraya firstly states how good it is to be back home in an EPW ring. The 25+ year veteran eventually announces that she is not back here to wrestler and explains that her days as a full-time wrestler are over. Fortunately William Regal has decided that he was other matters that he needs to attend to right now and has made her the General Manager of the women's division. After declaring what an honour being put in this position is, it is up to each and every woman around this ring right now to take this division to the next level. The crowd approve of her mission statement. She claims that all of their fates won't be decided by how much they want to kiss her arse. The fate of their careers will be decided in this ring. The new General Manager wants the very best from her roster. If they impress her then they will be awarded with opportunities. If they let things slide then there are plenty of other talented young ladies around the world vowing for a contract. Finally Saraya tells her ladies that the new era of the women's division begins next week. The segment ends with her leaving the ring to cheers as her music plays. Joe Hendry vs. ??? This is our final first round match of the Atlas Division Tournament. The winner of this will go one-on-one with Sha Samuels in the next round. Joe Hendry is the first man to make his way down to the ring. The Prestigious One appears to be a little anxious not knowing what is about to come. He even questions the referee about who his opponent is but he doesn't know anything. The arena lights dim down before a video plays on the screen of a helicopter circling a crowded city. It eventually lands next to a limousine which soon drives off presumably containing the identity of this mysterious gentleman. As the limo arrives to the arena, a suited up male steps out and begins to walk to the backstage area surrounded by security. We still haven't seen his face. He steps in to a dressing room which is where we fade to black. The words 'THE NATIONAL TREASURE' soon appear on the screen. Under The Influence - Versus The World blares over the speakers. The name on the screen is Nick Aldis. The fans explode when the 31-year old world traveller walks out on to the stage with a grin on his face. Mauro Ranallo pipes up with 'he has conquered the world and he has returned home!' whilst he marches down the aisle towards the squared circle. Aldis climbs up the turnbuckles to look over the sold out crowd. Hendry is shaking his head in disapproval as his mystery opponent steps down for a face off in the middle of the ring. The bell is rung and they lock up. The Prestigious One manages to roll The National Treasure in to a hold. He then taps his head to boast of his intelligence but is then dragged to his feet and launched in to the corner. Aldis drills him with several stomps until Hendry makes a quick escape to ringside. The debuting babyface then looks over the crowd who are chanting his name. He nods his head and then goes for a Baseball Slide. Hendry moves out of the way and throws a few shots of his own. The corporate stooge then rolls Aldis in to the ring to drop him with a Commonwealth Clothesline. He soon attempts an Arm-Wrench DDT to which his opponent elbows his way to safety. The National Treasure nails a European Uppercut, a Running Powerslam and a Diving Elbow Drop for a two count. As he teases applying the King's Lynn Cloverleaf, the fans are on their feet. Hendry escapes and swings the momentum again with a Fallaway Slam. The accomplished freestyle wrestler stalks his prey with the Olympic Slam in mind. Aldis rises. He is dropped with the signature move. The leg is hooked. The referee counts. Kick out just before three. The angry heel pulls Aldis in the middle to try and apply the Ankle Lock. The newcomer rolls out of the hold sending Hendry flying neck first in to the middle rope. Aldis pulls off the Tormentor on the rebound before making the cover. The official makes another count. It results in another near fall. The crowd are digging this back and forth contest. The National Treasure attempts a Slingshot in to the corner. His opponent flies in to the corner but ends up nailing the referee instead of the turnbuckles. Chris Roberts falls to the canvas in a heap. Nick Aldis tries to pull him up however is nailed from behind with a Low Blow. As he gets up, the security team walk out from the backstage area to an arena full of boos. Fit Finlay has the shillelagh in hand. He steps up to the apron to toss it to their associate however his opponent intercepts it. Aldis then drills Hendry in the skull with it to the fans' joy. The security team then pile in the ring. The National Treasure launches all of them out to ringside. He then locks on the King's Lynn Cloverleaf. The referee then pulls himself up just in time to see Joe Hendry tapping out. Nick Aldis is victorious. The debuting superstar's arm is raised to the biggest reaction of the night. He moves on to the next round of the Atlas Division Tournament and takes to the turnbuckles to celebrate. The show goes off the air with Nick Aldis finally leaving the ring to walk to the back. When he reaches the stages, he turns once again for one final pose. Next week the Junior and Atlas Tournaments will continue in Dublin, Ireland. |

Had a feeling the Atlas tournament would be a rough one, and Wolfgang is the first to find that out. Damo’s lucky he didn’t have the decision reversed, but glad to see he moves on. Glad to see Sha’s return match to the company ended with a win (even if the tights were held). Always seen him as being an EPW guy. Fitting win for Drew Galloway, unfortunately for him he didn’t leave looking like a winner. O’Connor made a statement, this is his tournament. Looking forward to Bodom vs Ospreay . Bodom sounds confident, which is good. Saraya’s appointment to GM feels a bit mixed. No doubt she has the in-ring experience to know what is best for the division, but does that make her qualified enough to run the ship and keep everyone in line? Regal seems to think so. Only time will tell if it’ll work out. Good luck to her though. I had to look up who Nick Aldis was when he was announced as Joe Hendry’s opponent, but I do recall the man formally known as Magnus now. Hendry was close to stealing the win, but Adlis held on (he had a little bit of luck on his side when he intercepted Finlay’s pass). |
