RELOADED MATCH #1: Austin Theory defeated El Ligero via pinfall with the Unproven Cutter. The two shook hands after the bout had ended. RELOADED MATCH #2: The Second City Collective defeated Jack Gallagher & Shane Strickland via pinfall with the Killjoy Superkick on Gallagher. RELOADED MATCH #3: Bram (with Vicky Haskins) defeated TK Cooper via pinfall with the Brighter Side of Suffering for the three count. EPW Live #104 The show begins with a video recap of last week's episode showing Big Damo and Nick Aldis advancing to the final of the Atlas Division Title Tournament. Zack Sabre Jr. also qualified for the final of the Junior Division Title Tournament, Will Ospreay vs. Josh Bodom went to a count out draw leaving the final spot in that tournament's final in the air, The Sanguinary beat Japanese high-flyers Sho & Yoh, Jinny Couture became #1 contender to the EPW British Women's Championship with assistance from her new ally Laura Di Matteo and Trent Seven saved Pete Dunne from a beating courtesy of Nathan Cruz and Joe Hendry. The Irish leg of the United Kingdom tour continues as we come to you live from Cork. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness welcome the viewing audience and run down the scheduled card which includes Nathan Cruz vs. Trent Seven, The Sanguinary's Jimmy Havoc vs. EPW British Tag Team Champion Kid Lykos, The Aussie Open vs. The Glaswegian Assembly in tag team action, Viper goes one-on-one with Laura Di Matteo, Fit Finlay has challenged Nick Aldis to a match after the newcomer decked him in the ring last week and in our main event; EPW World Undisputed Champion Pete Dunne takes on Zack Gibson in a non-title bout with Liverpool's Number One looking to prove his worth to The Corporate Entourage. Nathan Cruz vs. Trent Seven The #1 contender will get his shot at the EPW World Undisputed Championship against Pete Dunne next week at EPW Live #105: First Blood In Belfast. Nathan Cruz is dominant throughout the majority of the contest looking to make a point that he is a worthy challenger and it's not just his political stroke that has got him to where he is. He executes a Slingshot Back Suplex and a Diving Elbow Drop however Trent Seven won't stay down. When attempting to lock on the Yorkshire Cloverleaf, his opponent makes a comeback. The Bombardier Of Battery pulls off a Discus Elbow, a Spinning Backfist and a Bridging German Suplex for a two count. He then winds up for the Seven Stars Lariat. As he approaches, Cruz turns the tables with a Low Dropkick to counter before planting him in to the canvas with the One Night Stand for the three count. The Prima Donna has won the match. He won't leave quietly though. The #1 contender demands a microphone from ringside and tells the champion to keep that belt warm for him. The cocky challenger intends on putting an end to the reign of Pete Dunne and humiliating him on behalf of William Regal. Once he leaves the ring, we are shown clips of Pete Dunne's most recent title defences out in North America. The Bruiserweight first travelled to Revolution Wrestling where he scored a pinfall victory over Matt Riddle. He then crossed the water to defend the gold in Canada on XCW Action Zone with a win against Rusev. Ranallo confirms that Dunne will be defending his title very soon in the recently launched THRIVE promotion against an opponent yet to be revealed. Josh Bodom makes his way down to the ring to a negative reaction from the fans in attendance. The commentary team discuss that the rookie from Bournemouth has looked ruthless in recent weeks with his eye on winning the Junior Division Tournament. Last week he went to a count out draw with Will Ospreay however proceeded to beat down on his opponent after the bell. He addresses the situation by showing us a replay of what went down after last week's second round match. Bodom claims that there is no chance that Ospreay will be cleared to compete. He is 100% ready to compete though and asks William Regal to come out here to declare him an official finalist in the Junior Division Tournament. Zack Sabre Jr. eventually interrupts. The Technical Wizard looks disgusted at Bodom's absolute lack of remorse for Will Ospreay. He doesn't think Bodom deserves to be in the tournament final but promises to snap his arm in two if the commissioner does make the decision to advance the heel to the final round. Nigel McGuinness quickly reveals he has been told the official decision over his headset. The colour commentator retrieves a microphone before stepping in to the ring to approach the two wrestlers. He announces that Bodom will be advancing to the final. This over joys the antagonist from Bournemouth whose face soon drop when McGuinness reveals that Will Ospreay has been cleared to compete next week too. The Junior Division Tournament Final will be a Triple Threat Match. Sabre Jr. nods his head in approval. Bodom begins to kick the bottom rope in frustration as we head to our first break of the evening. Jimmy Havoc vs. Kid Lykos Both of these wrestler's respective teams will meet next week with the EPW British Tag Team Championships on the line. William Regal has booked a little preview of that title match as one half of each duo meets one-on-one right here. Kid Lykos puts up a hell of a fight against the relentless Jimmy Havoc who has been known to go to any lengths to secure a win. The Dirty Wolf went for a 619 early on but The King Of The Goths bails out of the ring for a breather just before execution. He is eventually floored with a Heat Seeking Missile which sends him crashing in to the steel barricade. The masked high-flyer slowly climbs the ropes when the two reach the ring again. The fans in Cork call for the Shooting Star Press. Havoc musters up the energy to switch the momentum with a Frankensteiner. He then maintains control of the contest for a few minutes. As the match rolls on, Mauro Ranallo notes that Chris Brookes, Mark Haskins, Bram and Vicky Haskins have all been barred from ringside for the duration of the match to ensure there is no outside interference. The former EPW British Hardcore Champion pulls off a Diving Double Foot Stomp for a two count. He also locks on a Sleeper Hold to try and send his adversary to sleep. Lykos nearly fades. The reigning champion battles back with some elbows to the gut. As he runs the ropes, Havoc scoops him up again to drop him with the Go Home Driver. He attempts the move. His opponent counters with a Front Flip Piledriver whilst holding on for the pin. The referee counts three. The people in attendance go nuts as Lykos quickly escapes the ring with a victory. Jimmy Havoc is fuming in the mean time. The C.C.K defend their gold against The Sanguinary next week. Will tonight's result favour the champions and give them a well needed confidence boost? Jennifer Louise is standing by in the backstage area with Zack Gibson who is pacing around looking more focused than he has ever looked. Liverpool's Number One will do battle with EPW World Undisputed Champion Pete Dunne in a non-title match in the main event and a victory will go a long way in proving to William Regal that he should be in contention of a title shot. Gibson declares that he is dead set on dropping The Bruiserweight on the deck with the Helter Skelter Brainbuster, wrapping his arm right round the back of his head and locking him in the Shankley Gates. He then informs us that after Dunne cries for mercy that he will have no qualms about tearing his arm to shreds. The interviewer asks for an update on her guest's relationship with the commissioner and The Corporate Entourage. Once tonight is done, Gibson guarantees that the boss will have no other alternative than to install him as the crown jewel of his stable of wrestlers. The loud-mouth heel from Liverpool sure has big things in mind. The Glaswegian Assembly vs. The Aussie Open Our tour of the rest of the United Kingdom continues and in two weeks English Pro Wrestling will be hitting Scotland for the first time in almost two years. Joe Coffey and Wolfgang have both made it clear that they want to play an integral part in that leg of the tour but both will need to pull a win or two out of the bag if they want to ensure they are in contention to be on the card. The beginning of the match sees Joe Coffey and Mark Davis brawling with the brawler from Queensland landing a Sidewinder Suplex. Kyle Fletcher is tagged in and The Aussie Arrow makes an immediate impact getting a two count with a Somersault Leg Drop over the ropes. It isn't long before Coffey forges a comeback. The Iron Man delivers a Running Corner Splash, a German Suplex and a Big Swing in quick succession. He then tags in Wolfgang. The Regulator gets a two count for his team with a Moonsault from the second ropes. As he pulls The Aussie Arrow up from the canvas, he is caught with a Step-Up Enzuiguri and then sent crashing in to the corner with a Shotgun Dropkick. Fletcher tags out to Davis. He goes for the Pop-Up Powerbomb. Wolfgang manages to land on his feet and pulls off the Wasteland. He climbs up top, pulls off the Howling and Coffey wipes out Fletcher with a Spear whilst his partner makes the cover for a three. The Glaswegian Assembly pick up an important win. This goes a long way in keeping their name in the mix in the tag team division. Their opponents slowly make their way to the backstage area with their heads down. Coffey and Wolfgang remain in the ring to celebrate in front of the cheering fans. Trent Seven has his head down in the locker room with a towel draped over him following his loss to Nathan Cruz earlier tonight. As he looks up, standing before him is Pete Dunne. The EPW World Undisputed Champion has the belt draped over his shoulder and his appearance sees his former British Strong Style stand to address him. He uncharacteristically holds out his hand before Seven cautiously shakes it. The Bruiserweight proceeds to thank The Bombardier Of Battery for saving him from a 2-on-1 beating last week. Seven responds by saying that he is fed up of the politicians in this company throwing their weight around just like the rest of the locker room. Dunne then pulls him in and tells him not to get involved in his business again though. The champion declares that he works alone. This is his war. He started it and he intends on ending it... his way. Seven pulls back his hand. The two have a brief stare down before we head back to ringside. Viper vs. Laura Di Matteo Jinny Couture won herself a shot at the EPW British Women's Championship in a 4 Corners Match last week with the help of Laura Di Matteo. The two later revealed their new alliance with the #1 contender paying the repackaged shooter from Italy to do her dirty work for her. This caught the eye of general manager Sweet Saraya who booked Di Matteo in a match with Viper ahead of the scheduled title bout. The champion made her way down the aisle to a huge roar from the Irish fans. As she reached the end of the aisle, Laura Di Matteo wiped her out with a knight stick at ringside. She continued to clobber her opponent until she fell to the floor. Jinny Couture soon came down to watch close up. Viper tried to fight back however just fell victim to even more strikes with the weapon. The hired help then chokes the reigning champion so that Couture can repeatedly slap her across the face. The referee tries to push the attackers away. Di Matteo shoves down the official and then locks Viper in the Kimura Lock. The hold is locked on. Before it can do much damage, Sweet Saraya rushes down with a fleet of security to break up this melee. Jinny backs away quickly. Her enforcer eventually follows and they escape the scene whilst Saraya calls for the medics to come down. Jennifer Louise is with Noam Dar in the backstage area to conduct an interview. The Scottish Supernova intended on competing in the Junior Division Tournament however a minor injury stopped him from being medically cleared to compete in the opening round. He expresses his determination to get straight back in to the mix and challenge whoever successfully becomes the inaugural champion to a match for the gold in Scotland. Zack Sabre Jr. soon respectfully approaches him. He cannot guarantee that he will walk out as the EPW British Junior Champion. After all, Will Ospreay is a hell of an opponent and Josh Bodom could quite easily sneak a win because we all know he is capable of bending the rules. The Technical Wizard does however promise that he will grant Noam Dar his wish if he is holding the belt when the company rolls in to The Scottish Supernova's home land. Both men shake hands to end the segment. That sure would be one hell of a contest. Nick Aldis vs. Fit Finlay The National Treasure booked his place in the Atlas Division Tournament final with victories over Joe Hendry and Sha Samuels. This has angered The Corporate Entourage who set the security team to teach him a lesson last week. Nick Aldis instead decked Finlay with a punch which angered The Belfast Bruiser to the point that he has challenged him to a match tonight in his home country. This turns in to a brawl from the off set with Finlay using some questionable tactics to get the upper hand. He scores with a Short-Arm Clothesline, a Leg Drop and the Rolling Hills for a two count. Dave Taylor and Robbie Brookside eventually make their way down to distract the referee so their ally can grab his shillelagh. Aldis is in trouble. As his adversary approaches with evil intentions, he manages to duck the shot and scoops him up to deliver the Tormentum. Taylor slides in the ring to interfere. He is tossed out to ringside. Before Brookside can get his hands on the corporate enemy, Aldis turns and clotheslines him over the ropes. The National Treasure turns his attention back to the match. He locks on the King's Lynn Cloverleaf. Fit Finlay taps out and Nick Aldis is declared the winner. The security team tried their best to teach Aldis a lesson but failed in spectacular fashion. As they leave, Big Damo has stepped in to the ring without Aldis knowing. He drops him with the Ulster Plantation in the middle of the ring and stands over him with one foot placed over his chest. These two men square off next week. The winner will walk out as the winner of the Atlas Division Tournament and with the EPW British Atlas Championship around their waist. When we return from the break, Drew Galloway stomps down the aisle to address the crowd. The Celtic Colossus humbly admits that the better man won last week. It is hard for him to say however as a man he can say that Big Damo deserves the spot in the Atlas Division Tournament Final over him. What doesn't change though is his ongoing fight with The Corporate Entourage. Galloway will not rest until this company is rid of the politics. He challenges any member of The Corporate Entourage to fight him next week one-on-one in the ring. As he awaits a response, 'Regality' by CFO$ plays and out walks the commissioner to the stage. William Regal informs Galloway he will not tolerate such behaviour and that he will suffer the consequences next week in Belfast when he faces off against a member of The Corporate Entourage in a First Blood Match. The brawler from Scotland looks pleased by this decision. He asks who his opponent will be but is told to wait and see. Regal soon disappears to the back having booked a huge match for next week's special. Non-Title Match Pete Dunne vs. Zack Gibson The crowd explode in to boos when Liverpool's Number One walks out with a microphone of his own. He cuts a promo running down the country of Ireland before declaring that he is going to beat the champion down like a dog. Pete Dunne gets the pop of the night on his way down to the squared circle. Zack Gibson tries to attack him as he steps through the ropes however The Bruiserweight battles back with some stiff rights followed by a Running Corner European Uppercut. As Gibson staggers out of the corner, Dunne attempts a Rolling Release Suplex. The loud-mouth from Liverpool fights out of it with some knees to the gut. He then pulls off a Running Powerslam, a Knee Drop and a Helter Skelter Brainbuster early. Gibson attempts to lock on the Shankley Gates. Dunne grabs a hold of his fingers and bites them to winces from the fans. As his opponent takes back his hand in pain, Dunne then executes a Bridging Tiger Suplex for a near fall. He lines up for the Bitter End. Gibson lands on his feet and delivers an Inverted Headlock Backbreaker to regain momentum. Liverpool's Number One is hell bent on applying the Shankley Gates. He does just that. The champion manages to break it by wrapping his leg around the bottom rope. Both men get up. Dunne then charges Gibson in to the corner with a Turnbuckle Thrust. Once his opponent staggers back out, he executes the Bitter End for the three count. Pete Dunne's arm is raised by the official to declare him the winner. He is passed the title. Nathan Cruz has snuck in and lifts him up for the One Night Stand. The Bruiserweight is quick to escape the move. He kicks Cruz in the groin. The fans are on their feet. Dunne then nails him with the Bitter End. The champ isn't done yet though and grabs his sledgehammer from under the ring. A shot with this could put next week's title match in jeopardy. Dunne is ready to swing. As he does, Cruz quickly bails and retreats up the ramp. The show closes with the champion yelling for his upcoming challenger to come join him in the squared circle again. The corporate stooge chooses to fight another day though. |

TK Cooper’s in danger of being irrelevant. He needs some type of miracle to turn things around. Hopefully he can soon. Cruz talked a big game after his win, but it’ll take more than talking a big game and a win over Trent to get inside Dunne’s head. Doesn’t happen often, but it’s a nice change of pace seeing a tv commentator take the house mic and announce things, even if in this case it wasn’t news Bodom wanted to hear. Huge upset. Didn’t expect Lykos to escape with the W in that one, props to him. The challenger may have sent a message to Viper with that assault from her hired help. Though knowing Viper and the challenges she’s faced before hand, I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t take long for the message to be returned to sender. Even though he’s getting up there in age, nice to see Finlay stepping back in there. Things didn’t work out for him here, though more respect for him for getting his hands dirty than to Regal for hiding behind a desk. On that note, Aldis’ upcoming opponent showed post-bell he’s ready for him. Interesting decision by the boss to book a first blood match. With all Regal has done to try to screw Dunne, I’m a bit surprised he hasn’t outlawed Dunne’s sledge hammer. Cruz was lucky to escape it this time around, but next time he might not be as lucky. |
