The main show kicks off in-ring action as Kaite Lea makes her way ringside for what’s announced as a fatal four way match as part of a special women’s tournament. Intercontinental Tournament Katie Lea vs Toni Storm vs Serena Moon vs Asrial Major Confirmed earlier in the week there will be a three night tournament to determine who will challenge the Intercontinental Champion at Starcade. In the opening moments of this one it is mentioned that three matches have already taken place. Two went down mid-week at a non-televised event which saw Jessica Guerrera defeat Rio Nazyki and two local competitors in a fatal four way match, and on the same card Alex Windsor defeated Lora Rio and non-local-but-still-nearby competitors. The third match was a singles match, but was held at an IWF event, which saw Kim Dawson defeat IWF Women’s Champion Michelle Von Parker by submission. Parker’s IWF Women’s Championship was not on the line in that contest. The winners of each match will advance to the semi-finals at March Break down, which will be under triple threat rules. The finals go on the Action Zone, 24 hours before Starcade. Storm and Lea managed to keep their egos in check long enough to prevent the opposition from teaming up against them. Storm was the first to end the temporarily alliance by rolling up Lea, adding a handful of tights, though Lea kicked out in time. Storm picked up the win not long after however, finishing off Lea with her Strong Zero. Major attempted to break up the pin, but wasn’t in time. Two other first round matches are scheduled for tonight. In another fatal four way match pits HZK against Kim Shellhammer and Thunder Rosa. Bischoff giving the local ladies a chance at the big time, can they make the most of the opperunity? Also tonight in the final qualifier, Kris Wolf takes on Emma Matthews. While it is a singles match bout, the out come will have an impact on the Golden Ticket ladder match. With that in mind things shift backstage to Eric Bischoff’s office. With the boss are Kris Wolf, Blayde, Emma Matthews, and Chuck Taylor. Bischoff explains the match involving the women tonight will serve a dual purpose. Not only will the winner advance in the tournament to decide the number one contender for the Intercontinental title, but they will each be fighting for their fellow faction member. As Bischoff stated last week, the men will faceoff, with the winner advancing to the Golden Ticket match, and the type of match they will be in will be decided by the spin of Bischoff’s roulette wheel. Tonight’s match will grant one re-spin to either Blayde or Chuck Taylor, should the initial spin lands on something that doesn’t appeal to them. He reminds all four of them that he will not tolerate any interference from either Oedao Tai, nor Team FIST in either match. He asks if there are any questions, which there is none. He offers all of them good luck, before sending them on their way. Alex Shelley w/Chris Sabin vs Dean Martin w/Damien Sandow A preview of Startcade’s tag championship match, though in the form of singles action. Martin found himself in trouble the longer the match goes on, but he managed to get to the outside, and on the advice of Sandow, the champs took a walk. Their challengers chased after them, and soon forced Martain back inside the ring. Shelley applied the border city stretch a short time later, but following sending Sabin into the ring steps, Sandow broke up the submission hold and pulled his partner to safety, resulting in a disqualification win for Shelley. During this match, it was confirmed that Brian Kendrick has issued an open challenge for a title defence at March Breakdown. He is scheduled to face Bobby Roode at Starcade. He addressed this open challenge with Hutch Henries later on in the show, stating simply there is a method to his madness when asked why he would defend the title against any challenger so close to Starcade. Intercontinental Tournament HZK vs Mari Apache vs Kim Shellhammer and Thunder Rosa Apache came close to picking up the win following a michinoku driver ii on Shellhammer, though the pin was broken up by HZK, who deposited her on the outside, joining Thunder Rosa, who she fought with and left laying there seconds earlier. HZK went to the top and connected with her bombs away, taking the air and anything else out of Shellhammer, to move on in the tournament with the pinfall win. Ironman Championship Zack Ryder w/Big T vs Sami Zayn Big T saved Ryder from being pinned following a helluva kick by pulling out of the referee. The big man earned himself an ejection from ringside. Zayn observed the toss, which caused him not to see Tye Dillinger entering the ring, and when Zayn turned around he took a hard lariat. Dillinger made the pin, with a second referee present. Dillinger picked up the three count and took off with the Ironman Championship. Intercontinental Tournament Emma Matthews vs Kris Wolf In the final first round match, both competitors are no stranger to the other, which it showed as they each had a number of counters for the other, with neither having a clear advantage for the majority of the bout. Matthews ran into a dazed Wolf in the corner, but the contact was avoided and Wolf went upstairs. Wolf went for a victory roll, Matthews blocked the roll over and held Wolf down for a pin, holding her down long enough for the win. D-von Dudley w/Bubba Ray vs Jeff Hardy This match is result of Bubba Ray and D-Von confronting Jeff backstage earlier in the evening, who was about to change after working a dark match earlier in the evening, about Matt’s actions last week. Jeff claims he knew nothing about Matt doing what he did, but in all honest he doesn’t care what Matt does, it’s not his problem. Bubba took offence to it saying Matt’s being a problem to them, having cost them a chance at payback against the tag champions, which he and D-Von will make it Jeff’s problem, if he isn’t careful what he says. Jeff told both Dudleys if they have a problem with him then to meet them in the ring later, which ends up being the main event of the show. Matt made an appearance during the bout, but did not interfere, remaining by the entryway, observing quietly. D-Von won the bout with the RDS. Matt looked pleased what he saw after the bell sounded, before returning backstage. Bubba Ray kept an eye on Matt while he was out there, and wasn’t sure what to think of Matt’s body language. Just like the Dudleys, both announcers aren't sure of what to make of this as the show closes. |

- Happy to see Toni Storm prevail in her match. She is my favourite to win the entire IC tournament. - I can see The MCMG's winning the gold at Starrcade I think. Sandow/Martin come across as transitional champs to me. - The Ironman Championship scene is as crazy as ever and I love it. Feel like you need a destroyer to shake things up though. - Not sure where this angle with The Hardyz is heading however I am intrigued which is the main thing. |
