The main show opens up with the six men who will be in the golden ticket ladder match. They each talk about what they bring to the table and how they think they’re do come the big day. Eric Bischoff comes out and states that since all six of them are here, they all have a match tonight. In preparation for their match at Starcade, they will compete in a 6-man tag tonight. Jeff Hardy vs Akuma w/Icarus Matt made an appearance just as Jeff was about to go upstairs for a possible moonsault. Jeff wants to know what Matt’s doing out here, but just gets broken gibberish. Akuma takes advantage of the distraction and gets underneath Jeff and manages to connect with the rubik’s cube. Matt enters the ring and when Jeff recovers enough to get to his feet, Matt explains his is out here to inform Jeff that Jeff’s actions of late have made Matt discover that the greatness they once had is no longer achievable, and the 7 deities informed that it is not Matt who has lost his marbles like former virus Don Callis alleged, but it is indeed Jeff who is the weak link, and the only way that Matt can save his own broken brilliance from going down the same path…he asks Jeff to forgive him for what he must do. In order for the Hardy name to live on and prosper, one of them must be…deleted. Matt adds there is only one type of match that is suitable for such an unfortunate, yet important match…a match that will be Jeff’s Ultimate Deletion. Jeff responds by saying he has no idea what the hell Matt just said, but he’s tired of it. If this is the only way to shut him up and give Matt a reality check, then he’ll do it. Matt calls this wonderful. Shot early in the day, the women’s locker room votes on the Kana/Yoshiko match. Their choices are a last man standing match, a cage match, or an inferno match. The roster appears to be deadlock as each match type gets backing. Yoshiko, through Kris Wolf, permits Kana to pick her poison. Kana and Karen Sato talk it over for a moment, before Karen states the thought of seeing Yoshiko burn for her costing Kana a chance to be women’s champion pleases them. Before they can confirm that is their choice referee Amy Kanazki enters the room. She informs them Erik Bischoff wants to see both Kana and Yoshiko in his office right now. Before the next match begins the two meet up with Bischoff in his offices. Bischoff informs them he was contacted by the local athletic commission about concerns about what match may be chosen. Karen informs him that the vote went without a decision, however Yoshiko yieled the decision of Kana and states that they were leading towards choosing an Inferno match, stating the reasoning that was given in the women’s locker room. Bischoff finds their choice interesting, and while he believe in can get the commission off his back, he has an idea and wants them to hear him out. Biscoff understands that Kana wants to make Yoshiko suffer, while Yoshiko still hasn’t forgotten Kana almost ending her career. He decides not to go with one of the other two choices, he has something else in mind. He tells them their match will be one that has no countout and no disqualication. It also will feature non-traditional ring ropes in the form of barbwire. That was an unexpected decision, but it appears both competitors welcome it. Women’s Tag Team Championship Natsumi Omura and Iria Ueto vs Cynthia Fox and Jesse Wave With Starcade one day away, one of the company’s lesser seen belts makes an appearance on XCW’s main show. Over the past year it was decided that the belts would be defended at both XCW and IWF branded shows, but the reigning champions have also had some defences in their home land of Japan. The defending champions came off a recent title defence there one day ago and landed back in North America in time for tonight’s event. Weather it be jet lag or not knowing who their opposition would be, they were upset by their challengers who are regulars on the IWF roster, and jumped at the opportunity to advance their careers. Jesse Wave connected with a Phoenix Splash on Omura for the win. Both announcers call this an upset. The new champs’ celebration is cut short by Charlotte. Charlotte congratulates the winning team before explaining why she is really out here. When she heard that the company’s women’s tag titles are getting time to shine, it got her thinking. She mentions that while she still feels it should be her in the main event, she feels she can make best of a bad situation. She mentions that it’s a known fact that her farther once lead the greatest faction in wrestling history, the Four Horsemen. She tells the new champs that at Starcade it’s time for a new breed of horsemen to ride. It doesn’t matter who it is, if any women claims to be a champion…let’s just say everybody knows how the Horsemen loved to collect gold. As Charlotte leaves, both announcers feel that Charlotte just put the entire division on notice. Heath Slater vs Goldust Before the bell sounds Slater takes the mic and states this isn’t how he dreamed Starcade would be for him. He wanted to go in as the World Heavyweight Champion, that didn’t work out for him. He then thought the next best thing is to go in as the Canadian National Champion, and we saw how that went. Despite the losses he feels he deserves a match at Starcade, saying he made the champ sweat and that should count for something. He also knows that Goldust doesn’t have a match as well, which he suggest they reschedule their match tonight for Starcade. Before Goldust can answer, Eric Bischoff appears on the video screen. Bischoff reminds Slater that it’s not Heath Slater who makes the matches around here, it’s Eric Bischoff. However he does state that Slater’s efforts as of late haven’t gone unnoticed, and he does agree with Slater in the sense that Slater didn’t get a fair shake against Brian Kendrick. He will grant the request, however he reminds Slater that Starcade isn’t a normal show, and that as bizarre as he is, even Goldust knows how big of a stage Starcade is. He books the match, however if Slater doesn’t bring his A-game, it’ll be the last chance of any kind Slater will receive. Chris Sabin w/Alex Shelley vs Damien Sandow w/Dean Martin Sabin manages to get a little payback from Sandow costing him a match on the Showcase. All Hail Sabin got the job done, and if this happens at Starcade, we’ll have new tag team champions. Intercontinental Tournament Toni Storm def. HZK HZK blocked Storm’s piledriver, and counted by raising up and holding into Storm before connected with an inverted piledriver of sorts. Kei was at ringside during the bout and looked concerned with how this one ended. Storm had to be helped from the ring by the referee, but nothing appeared to be broken. HZK gestures to the reigning champ she wants her belt, which the champion responds for her to try and take it from her. Ironman Championship Tye Dillinger vs Sami Zayn Rob Rage’s music played during the bout and the Supernova of Superstars hit the ring. Dillinger and Zayn look at each other and decide to team up, but Rage takes them down just as quickly. Rage sends Zayn flying over the top rope before spearing Dillinger. Rage does a one foot pin and tells the referee to count. Rage gets the count and is the Ironman Champion. Rage calls for the mic and tells Bischoff and everyone in the back to listen up. Last week Rage said he would say what his idea for Starcade is tonight, and he announces that if anyone wants to be Ironman Champion, then they must play by Rage’s rules. On the pre-show there will be an open invitational over the top rope battle royal with a ten minute time limit. If anyone is left standing when the time is up, Rage will run the gauntlet against them all later on in the evening. Don Callis gets the feeling that Rage put out this challenge to show he is still a dominant force, despite how things have been for him lately, and going through multiple opponent seems like a good way to send that message to the rest of the locker room, especially those who will be competing for the heavyweight title. Jack Swagger w/Jim Cornette/Alex Bryce/Kevin Steen vs CM Punk w/Paul Heyman/AJ Styles/Chuck Taylor Six-man tag team action involve those in the golden ticket ladder match. The match got thrown out when all six men were in the ring and the referee was unable to get four of them out. It turned to a free for all post-bell. Taylor managed to get out of harms way before things could get too far out of hand. Punk got knocked to the outside by Steen. Punk wants back in, but Heymen tells him to save it. Extra officials come out to break up the remaining guys in the ring as the show closes. |

- The Ultimate Deletion should be interesting. I don't think we will see the back of either man 'for good' though no matter the result. - I'll admit, I forgot you had women's tag belts. They, in my mind, are pretty forgettable right now and aren't really that sustainable. - Things are tough for Slater right now. I do think he plays the hapless loser best though. He's just a midcard loveable fool really. - Gutted Toni Storm fell at the last hurdle. I had high hopes for her in XCW. Hope she can recover from this. - The Golden Ticket Match should be the best yet with such a star studded line up this year. Still think Punk is going to win. |
