EPW Live #108

Once Reloaded is all wrapped, the main broadcast opens with a video recap of last week's episode showing Joe Hendry defeating mystery opponent Nixon Newell followed by the post-match assault. Tonight's show is live in front of a sell out crowd in Edinburgh. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness welcome us before running down the scheduled card which includes Joe Hendry in action, Kay Lee Ray vs. Nikki Cross, Trent Seven and Sha Samuels complete their trilogy of singles matches, a Triple Threat Match to determine a #1 contender for Josh Bodom's EPW British Junior Championship and Joe Coffey battles The Sanguinary in a 3-on-1 Gauntlet Match with a shot at the EPW British Tag Team Championships hanging in the balance.

Joe Hendry vs. Wolfgang
The Regulator's tag team partner will be in action later on in the Gauntlet Match however he is pre-occupied for the time being with the current #1 contender for Pete Dunne's EPW World Undisputed Champion. Wolfgang certainly has the crowd support. Joe Hendry's actions over the past several weeks have definitely ensured that the fans in his home country won't be cheering him on heading in to his title challenge. The Prestigious One's opponent is a fellow Scot. He keeps bailing every time Wolfgang gets the momentum which only frustrates the brawler from Glasgow. Eventually the wiley heel uses this to his advantage to lead in to a Commonwealth Clothesline and an Arm-Wrench DDT for the first two count of the evening. Hendry continues to ride the wave of momentum with a grounded attack. After a couple of minutes, Wolfgang powers his way out of a Piledriver attempt with a Back Body Drop to regain control. The Regulator executes a game-changing Sidewalk Slam before pointing to the ropes to tease the Howling. He climbs but is distracted when Bram appears at ringside. In the mean time, Hendry distracts the official whilst The Sanguinary's enforcer slides in and drops Wolfgang with the Brighter Side Of Suffering. He then quickly jogs to the backstage area quicker than he got here. This gives the #1 contender the opportunity to dive over his opponent's body for a cover for the three count. Joe Hendry wins. The Prestigious One wastes no time celebrating and marches to the back with a huge grin on his face. His opponent looks in a bad way. The big man is holding his neck in agony.

Jennifer Louise is standing by for an interview with William Regal outside of the office of The Corporate Entourage. The commissioner is extremely happy with how things have gone over the past couple of weeks. His master plan will be complete when his chosen contender Joe Hendry finally defeats Pete Dunne to retain the EPW World Undisputed Champion at EPW Live #110: The Scottish Supershow. He reveals that The Bruiserweight will be returning next week. The boss has an opponent lined up for him but Dunne and the fans will have to wait until then to find out the identity of the wrestler he will be facing. When asked for details on Big Damo's suspension, Regal confirms that The Beast From Belfast will not enter an EPW arena until he can compose himself in a professional manner.

Kay Lee Ray vs. Nikki Cross
Last week we saw the return of The Queen Of Chaos who expressed her disgust at not being a part of the upcoming 'Scottish dream match' between Viper and Kay Lee Ray despite proclaiming herself as the first lady of Scottish women's wrestling. This came after a backstage assault on The Killer who looks out for revenge this evening. She has a bandage around her head after the attack however doctors have cleared her able to compete. Viper is seen watching on a monitor from the backstage area. The champion looks interested in the result of this match. Nikki Cross goes straight in to over drive showing her aggressive streak immediately. She launches her opponent to the outside which in turn causes Kay Lee Ray to get trapped under the apron on the ring canvas. The crazed competitors uses this to her advantage and begins to repeatedly punch her in the face with some stiff forearms until the referee gets to nine. Cross continues her onslaught by delivering a Diving Crossbody, a Whiplash Neckbreaker and a Samoan Driver for a two count. She then attempts a Swandive Headbutt however her adversary rolls away at the last second. Kay Lee Ray responds with a Running Clothesline, a Dropkick and a Handspring Stinger Splash before locking on a Surfboard. The crowd get behind the comeback. The Killer goes for the Gory Bomb. The Queen Of Chaos rolls out and then drills her opponent with a Running Soccer Kick to the jaw to turn the tables. She quickly takes her chance to nail her finisher; the Purge. The leg is hooked. The three is counted. Nikki Cross has pinned the #1 contender. Shock and boos fill the building as Jessika Carr raises the winner's arm in victory. The maniacal brawler is not done though. After putting her opponent in a tree of woe position, she begins to stomp on her. Eventually Viper runs down to cheers and Nikki Cross flees. It appears she now has the eye of the EPW British Women's Champion.

The Second City Collective make their way down once the ring is cleared. Ryan Smile takes a microphone and expresses that the duo believes it is their time for a title shot. The Scottish fans do not approve. Damian Dunne claims that there is no denying they should be at the front of the queue in the tag team division which is met with even more of a negative reaction. 'Elevated' by It Lives, It Breaths blares over the speakers to interrupt them. Out walks Zack Sabre Jr. and Will Ospreay who join the arrogant former champions in the ring. Ospreay throw their names in to the mix as well for a title match which causes some tension between the two tandems. After some back and forth, Sabre Jr. proposes that they have a match next week so the winners can state their case as the next #1 contenders. The heels discuss this proposal with one another before responding with a synchronised 'NAH'. As they make a prompt exit to boos, the babyfaces watch their cowardly adversaries leave up the aisle.

Sha Samuels vs. Trent Seven
These two have traded two victories over the past couple of weeks on Reloaded. This is the rubber match. Mauro Ranallo describes them as 'two of the heaviest hitters in the company' which is hard to argue with. They begin with some stiff strikes and soon Sha Samuels gains the early wave of momentum by delivering a Flapjack sending Trent Seven neck first on the top rope. The East End Butcher uses this to his advantage by working the neck in a grounded attack. He then picks up the first near fall of the contest with an Exploder Suplex. As Sha tries to set up for the Spinning Spinebuster, Trent responds with a boot to the face followed by a Spinning Backfist and a Bridging German Suplex for a two of his own. Seven nails some nasty overhand chops to stay in control. It soon spills out to ringside when Samuels holds down the bottom rope to send his opponent to the floor. The rowdy heel tries to launch the babyface from Birmingham in to the steps. The Bombardier Of Battery avoids the attack and thrust him in to the barricade instead. Back in the ring, he scores with the Seven Stars Lariat for an extremely close fall. He then attempts the Seventh Heaven Piledriver which the crowd goes nuts for. Samuels manages to power out with a Back Body Drop. The cockney loudmouth follows up with the Spinning Spinebuster to hook the leg for another victory over his adversary. Sha Samuels is victorious via pinfall.

Zack Gibson has been summoned to the office of The Corporate Entourage. Liverpool's Number One looks happy and asks William Regal if he's finally seen sense and is ready to offer him a deserved spot in The Corporate Entourage. The boss appreciates the enthusiasm of his potential ally however tells him he still has a way to go until he can earn himself a spot in the faction. Gibson will do what he has to do to get in and the commissioner partners him up with Nathan Cruz in a tag team match later. If they can beat the team of Nick Aldis and Drew Galloway then he can consider himself aligned with The Corporate Entourage. The loud mouth from Liverpool promises not to let Regal down. They shake hands and he leaves the office with a determined look on his face.

El Ligero vs. Noam Dar vs. TK Cooper
The winner of this multi-man match will receive the next shot at Josh Bodom's EPW British Junior Championship in two weeks in Glasgow. All three have motives to gain redemption on the champion after he has attacked all three over the space of the past couple of weeks. They are all fan favourites however Noam Dar has the Scottish crowd. The match is fast-paced from beginning to end which is what we have come to expect from the Junior Division. El Ligero is the first to get the lion's share of the momentum. He sends TK Cooper crashing to the outside before executing a Running Single Leg Dropkick and Shiranui to Noam Dar for a two count. After heading up top, Cooper pushes him off the ropes on to Dar and lands on top of both of his opponents with a Spiral Tap for a two count of his own. The Scottish Supernova broke the fall. He throws Cooper in to corner and nails him with the Nova Roller for a near fall. The 10 year pro from Ayr works the leg for a while. Ligero goes to nail him with a Handspring Enzuiguri. He is caught in mid-air and drilled in to the canvas with a Fisherman Buster to a huge pop from the crowd. TK makes one final attempt at making a comeback with a boot to the gut. The New Zealand high-flyer goes for his finisher; the Scissors Kick. His opponent moves at the final second and locks him in the Champagne Super Kneebar. The hold is locked on. The victim has nowhere to go and taps out. Noam Dar is the #1 contender to the EPW British Junior Championship. The fans got what they wanted. As he celebrates on the turnbuckles, Josh Bodom walks out on to the stage with his belt over his shoulder. He takes a disapproving look at the victor and shakes his head. The Scottish Supernova motions a belt around his waist to signify he is ready for the challenge ahead.

Jennifer Louise is standing by in the locker room for an interview with Joe Coffey who confirms that Wolfgang is on his way to the hospital after hurting his neck during his loss to Nathan Cruz thanks to outside interference from Bram. The Iron Man looks pissed that The Sanguinary's enforcer saw fit to get involved in a match he had no place sticking his nose in to. Coffey intends on beating all three of his opponents however now has an additional reason to take Bram's head off. He knows he is going to have to go it alone with no one watching his back in tonight's main event but he isn't going to let that stop him from securing an EPW British Tag Team Championship match for The Glaswegian Assembly.

Nick Aldis & Drew Galloway vs. Nathan Cruz & Zack Gibson
The two opponents in the EPW British Atlas Championship match in two weeks make their way down first individually. They both get equal reactions and shake hands once they've reached the ring but have a short stare down. Drew Galloway definitely has his eyes on Nick Aldis' gold which causes some tension. Will that show during this bout? Nathan Cruz makes his entrance with Zack Gibson by his side. Mauro Ranallo look back at the history between these two who were actually formerly allies as part of The Defenders Of The Nation faction. If they win, they will be reunited once again in The Corporate Entourage. They seem to be on the same page with the same task in mind. Cruz and Gibson seem to be an effective team in the opening minutes. Aldis is isolated in the heel corner until he finally manages to fight back with a Running Clothesline, a European Uppercut and a Scoop Lift Vertical Suplex. The Norfolk based heavyweight tags in his partner. Galloway storms in with a tonne of fire. After falling to a Big Boot, Cruz tags out in a hurry and Gibson charges in only to be drilled with a Big Boot himself. The Celtic Colossus hooks the arms for the Future Shock DDT. Aldis quickly tags himself back in which causes some tension between the two babyfaces who argue amongst themselves. The legal heel uses this to his advantage and downs the champ with a Running Neckbreaker. He then follows up with a grounded attack for a short while. The heel team use quick tags and double team moves to overwhelm Aldis. The National Treasure pulls it back once again. This time he lands the Tormentum and a Diving Elbow Drop for the pin. As the referee counts two, Galloway tags himself in which in turn causes more tension between the two top wrestlers currently in the Atlas Division. Cruz rolls Galloway up for a near fall which the trunks pulled. He goes to the top for the Diving Double Knee Facebreaker. The Celtic Colossus catches him, throws him over his shoulder with a Belly-To-Belly Suplex and then knocks an interfering Gibson off of his feet with the Claymore. He then quickly executes the Future Shock DDT before hooking the leg with his focus on his partner. The bell rings. Nick Aldis and Drew Galloway have their arms raised in victory. The winners immediately get in to a shoving match until the champion is passed his belt by the referee. He decides to back away first though and exits the ring. Before marching back down the aisle, he turns to give one last look at his upcoming challenger.

Viper approaches Sweet Saraya in the backstage area. After what happened with Nikki Cross earlier on, the champion expresses her desire to get her hands on The Queen Of Chaos. The general manager of the women's division says that is a match we all want to see however she can't risk having the champ take on such a dangerous competitor just one week before her title defence against Kay Lee Ray. The Vixen Of Violence offers to give Cross a place in the title bout in two week's time making it a Triple Threat Match. Saraya immediately fires back at the champ telling her that just because she wears the gold, it doesn't mean she can book the matches around her. She doesn't want to hear any more so walks off. Viper is left frustrated.

3-on-1 Gauntlet Match
The Sanguinary (with Vicky Haskins) vs. Joe Coffey

If the babyface can win, he earns an EPW British Tag Team Championship match for himself and Wolfgang. Joe Coffey looks focused on the way to the ring as the fans chant along to his theme song. The Iron Man salutes them from the top rope. First out is the man who beat him two weeks ago; Mark Haskins. The Hellbent Anti-Hero jogs down to get this match started. It doesn't look good for Coffey early on as the outlaw from Oxford keeps using all the dirty tricks in the book to wear down his opponent including eye rakes, stalling and even using wife Vicky Haskins as a human shield on the outside to get away. He goes to deliver a Missile Dropkick. Coffey just bats him off though and begins to gain momentum. The heavyweight from Glasgow executes a Stinger Splash in the corner followed by a Sit-Out Powerbomb for a near fall. As he lines up for the Discus Lariat, Vicky Haskins climbs up to the apron for the distraction and Coffey takes the bait. He grabs her whilst her husband recovers who charges at him. Coffey moves at the last second. Haskins collides in to his wife sending her down to the floor in a heap. The Iron Man then takes his head off with the Discus Lariat for the three count. Before he can even get up, Jimmy Havoc flies off the ropes to nail a Springboard Dropkick to get the upper hand in the next phase of this gauntlet. The King Of The Goths attempts to choke out the big man with a Sleeper Hold. Coffey eventually throws him off and then pulls off the Big Swing to get the crowd off their feet. He goes for another Discus Lariat. Havoc ducks. The reigning champion tries to roll Coffey in to a School Boy but finds himself victim to a Seated Senton. That is then transitioned in to a No Mercy Boston Crab. The heel slowly crawls close to the ropes. Just as he reaches out for the break, Coffey drags him back to the middle which causes him to submit. The fans go nuts as The Iron Man is just one win away from securing that title shot for his team. Bram marches down with evil intentions. The heavyweight from Cheshire is fresh and ready to dish out some of his dangerous offence. Coffey isn't 100%. He is nailed with a Short-Arm Clothesline, a Running Knee Drop and is locked in a Chinlock with a Bodyscissors. The Chesterfield Plague's onslaught continues for several minutes. His opponent can barely stand. Bram executes the Brighter Side Of Suffering which the commentary team predict to be the end. The referee counts to boos from the fans. Coffey kicks out just before three to a huge pop. The crazed heel lifts his opponent up for what looks to be an attempt at a Cradle Piledriver. It is countered in to a Double Leg Slam. The fans are on their feet as Coffey executes the Discus Lariat and slowly crawls over for the cover. Bram kicks out. This match rolls on. The heavyweight from Scotland stalks his prey with another Discus Lariat in mind. His opponent ducks and grabs him for the Brighter Side of Suffering. Coffey uses his last bit of energy to counter in to the No Mercy Boston Crab. Bram looks in serious pain. He tries to hang on but eventually taps out when he fails to reach the ropes. The fans go nuts when Joe Coffey is announced as the winner. The Glaswegian Assembly earn their EPW British Tag Team Championship match in two weeks. Their dream could become a reality in their home city in just two weeks time.

Not the way Couture should have qualified. Saraya should have found another opponent, but I guess it is what it is.

Regal may be smiling to start the show, but who knows if it’ll last throughout the night.

Good to see that Viper was watching the KLR/Cross match and broke things up after the bell, but the ref shouldn’t be afraid to get in there and keep order (though as a fellow wearer of the stripes I can admit that is easier said than done sometimes).

Hopefully Sha can use the momentum from the win and go somewhere with it. He’s as tough as they come.

Not sure if Gibson will live up to Regal’s expectations and get in, but you gotta admire his confidence.

On one hand, Dar is a fitting challenger for Bodom and the title of Jr. Champion, but TK could have benefited from the win more. The kid needs a breaker sooner rather than later. Best of luck to Dar though.

Very few can get away with a conversation ending with Viper the way that Saraya just did.

Uphill battle for Coffey, but he pulled it off. The pressure will be on for sure when they get their shot at home.
