EPW Live #114

The main broadcast begins with a video recap of last week's episode which concluded with Sha Samuels putting a stop to the Pete Dunne vs. David Starr match with a run in resulting with him leaving both competitors laying in the middle of the ring. Tonight's show comes to you live from Bolton. Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness and Alex Shane are standing by at ringside to greet the viewing audience at home and run down the scheduled card. Sha Samuels will be in singles action in preparation for his EPW World Undisputed Championship Match with Pete Dunne next week, David Starr, Zack Sabre Jr. & Will Ospreay battle Travis Banks, Jordan Devlin & Zack Gibson in a Six Man Tag Team Match, Angelico goes one-on-one with JT Dunn, EPW British Women's Champion Viper faces newcomer Katey Harvey in non-title competition, Tyler Bate takes on The Sanguinary's enforcer Bram with an EPW British Tag Team Championship shot on the line and Joe Hendry & El Ligero have accepted The C.C.K's challenge which will be our main event of the evening.

Sha Samuels vs. ???
The East End Butcher walks out to an arena full of boos for the opening contest however next week he will challenge reigning champion Pete Dunne for the gold in the main event. Sha Samuels grabs a microphone when he reaches the ring and demands silence. He reveals that he had a short list of world-class calibre athletes but he whittled it down to one man who deserves to share the ring with the future EPW World Undisputed Champion. After shaking his head at 'wanker' chants directed at him by the Bolton crowd, he welcomes out his opponent; Chuck Mambo. The enthusiastic babyface skips out from the back to a luke warm reaction from the crowd. The commentary team explain that Mambo is an independent wrestler from Newquay who is a promising talent. He is well out of his depth against the #1 contender though. Samuels smiles to himself as he watches his opponent make his way down to the ring. As Mambo jumps up to the ropes to look over the crowd, he is dragged down by his hair and Samuels repeatedly stomps down on him to kick this match off. He covers the rookie's head with his t-shirt before hammering him with rights and lefts. The East End Butcher follows up with an Exploder Suplex across the ring. The ruthless #1 contender begins to mock his challenger as he lights him up with open hand chops in the corner. Mambo staggers out and is dropped with a Snap DDT. He isn't even given time to recover. Samuels drags him up, launches him across the ring with an irish whip and then drills him with the Spinning Spinebuster. The leg is hooked. We are only three minutes in and we have a winner. Sha Samuels wins decisively. Whilst the bell is ringing, he keeps stomping down on Mambo until the youngster drops down to ringside. He once again is passed a microphone from ringside. The loud mouth from London says he has more in him and challenges Pete Dunne to come out for a scrap. There is no answer but Mauro Ranallo informs us that Pete Dunne hasn't arrived yet and Samuels knows that. He is just out here to get in the head of his opponent next week. The heel then leaves the ring as we head to the break.

We return and Sweet Saraya has summoned both Xia Brookside and Millie McKenzie in to her office. The GM of the women's division praises their performances in the Klondyke Kate Classic and shows them the trophy. The winner of their 30-Minute Iron Woman Match next week will be the outright winner of the tournament after they both ended the series with equal points. Saraya says that no matter what the outcome may be, both Brookside and McKenzie have bright futures in the business. They leave as Saraya gets a phone call. It becomes clear that she is attempting to negotiate a deal with a wrestler for has wrestled in English Pro Wrestling in the past. She tells them she will have a contract ready for her to sign if they can make it to next week's show. When she ends the call, the GM looks very happy with this potential acquisition.

Six Man Tag Team Match
David Starr, Will Ospreay & Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Travis Banks, Jordan Devlin & Zack Gibson

Four competitors in the third Battle For The Briefcase will take part in this Six Man Tag Team Match. Out first are the heels with individual entrances. Last year's Battle For The Briefcase winner Travis Banks is out first arguing with fans on his way down the aisle. The crowd give Jordan Devlin an equal amount of grief too. He and Banks watch on as their partner Zack Gibson walks down whilst cutting a promo on the crowd. This whips Bolton up in to a frenzy of nuclear heat. Liverpool's Number One gets a round of applause from his team mates though. Will Ospreay and Zack Sabre Jr. enter together being referred to collectively now as Hybrid Theory. They are cheered on but don't enter the ring until David Starr joins them at the end of the ramp. The Philly native hands over the long list of nicknames over to ring announcer Jim Smallman who proceeds to list them off one by one to the delight of the crowd. He has added 'the honorary third member of Hybrid Theory' to the list to which gets a laugh from his team mates. The first two in the ring are Gibson and Ospreay who trade holds for a couple of minutes. Once they both get up to a vertical base, The Aerial Assassin begins to fasten the pace which overwhelms his opponent. He manages to clock him with a Handspring Enzuiguri followed up by the Robinson Special. Zack Sabre Jr. is tagged in. Hybrid Theory get the opportunity to pull off a Combination Wheelbarrow Cutter before Ospreay returns to his corner. The Technical Wizard takes things to the mat to control some more of the match however his adversary sneaks in an eye rake and scurries over to tag in Travis Banks. The Kiwi Buzzsaw storms in with a Shotgun Dropkick, pulls off a Running Cannonball in the corner and gets a near fall with his trademark Spinning Torture Rack Slam. He then decides to lock on the Boston Crab in the middle of the ring. Sabre Jr., being the submission specialist we all know he is, finds an escape route. His opponent tries to turn the tables with a Discus Lariat. Banks misses and is dropped with a European Uppercut. As he lands flat on his arse, the technician from Kent blasts him with a Running Soccer Kick to the face. Nigel McGuinness jokes that Sabre Jr. could have just stated a case to join the England squad in the World Cup. Jordan Devlin takes a moment to tag himself in. He blindsides Sabre Jr. with several stomps after executing the Air Raid Siren. His opponent tags out leading a fresh David Starr to enter. The Product and the cocky heel from the Republic of Ireland tangle up and trade some holds. Starr gets the better of the exchange leading to a Running Knife Edge Chop, a Roaring Elbow, a Lariat and a Powerbomb transitioned in to a Double Knee Backbreaker for an even closer fall than earlier. He looks to execute the Product Placement however Devlin wriggles free. Devlin pulls off a Corkscrew Roundhouse Kick to allow himself time to tag out to Zack Gibson. The grappler from Liverpool tries his hardest to retain the momentum built by his partner. He fails to though when Starr drills him with a Brainbuster on to the knee before attempting a pinfall. As the referee counts, the heels rush in to break the fall at two which leads to an all-out fight between all six men. Hybrid Theory band together to dispose of their opponents and then dive on to them with a Tope Suicida each. Meanwhile, Starr blasts Gibson with a European Uppercut. Liverpool's Number One staggers in to the Product Placement which leads to the deciding three count giving the babyface team a deserving victory. Starr's arm is raised as his team mates join him in the ring. They celebrate in to the break whilst the fans in Bolton cheer on the winning trio.

The cameras are out in the parking lot when we return. A car rolls in and the door swings open. Out walks EPW World Undisputed Champion Pete Dunne straight back off the plane from Revolution Wrestling's Eddie Guerrero Invitational Tournament where he made it all the way to the final. The Bruiserweight is back and by the look on his face he means business. Jennifer Louise rushes to get a word with the champ as he enters the building. Dunne doesn't have much to say however makes it clear that he has heard what Sha Samuels said to him tonight and will make sure the champion pays for what he did last week. When asked how he will do that, he tells Jennifer that he decided to bring a little friend with him. Dunne pulls the sledgehammer out of his bag with a scowl on his face. He then tells us that The East End Butcher will feel the end of this sledgehammer even if it means taking out a few more casualties along the way. Pete Dunne is here to cause some mayhem. The Corporate Entourage better be on look out.

Angelico vs. JT Dunn
These two imports will duke it out in singles action with Angelico just one week away from his opportunity to become EPW British Junior Champion after he managed to defeat Josh Bodom in a non-title match last week. The Ultimate Air Devil requested a warm-up bout this week via social media to which JT Dunn willingly accepted the challenge after ranting about being stuck on Reloaded when his former tag partner David Starr got signed to a full-time contract and is getting opportunities in the main events. The match begins with a fast paced exchange of counters and reversals. As the #1 contender to the EPW British Junior Championship rolls to his feet, he is met with a nasty multiple elbow smash variations which renders him groggy for at least a minute. JT Dunn uses this time to go to task on the high-flyer residing in Barcelona and gets a two count with a Lungblower from the middle ropes. Angelico eventually turns the tables with a mid-air handstand overhead enzuiguri preceded by a feint sweep. Dunn is angry. He storms at his opponent with a Running Big Boot however he ducks and delivers a Superkick followed by a Full Nelson Backbreaker. As the crowd chants his name, the babyface climbs up to the top rope. He is forced to watch on as Dunn bails from the ring. Angelico then dives to the outside and pulls off a Diving Hurricanrana. The fans are on their feet. As the high-flyer looks up, Josh Bodom is stood on the stage with his belt over his shoulder watching the action unfold. The champ is evidently thrown off by this impressive performance by his upcoming challenger. In the mean time, Angelico finishes off JT Dunn with the Superman Senton. The pin is made. The referee counts three. The daredevil picks up the victory with his eye on the gold. He opens the ropes to dare the champion to come down and fight him. Bodom is having none of it though. He arrogantly turns his back on Angelico and leaves for the back. The Blonde Bomber will have to face him next week in the ring with the EPW British Junior Championship at stake.

A vignette airs in black and white inside of a darkly lit, run down, small-sized gym. All it contains is several boxing bags, basic equipment and a ring in the middle. The camera focuses on one female throwing combos at the bags as 'Machine Gun' by Portishead plays over the images. We then cut to clips of the unidentified woman applying various submission holds to different sparring partners with all of them tapping out immediately. This woman appears to be a machine. She combines strikes in to her submissions to add salt to the wounds of her victims. The fighter eventually backs away and leaves the ring. A camera approaches her whilst she wipes the sweat from her brow with a towel. She introduces herself as 'The Yorkshire Terrier' April Davids and she is on her way to English Pro Wrestling's women's division. Apparently she is a prize fighter and no woman in the locker room is safe.

Non-Title Match
Viper vs. Katey Harvey

Last week saw the on camera debut of the next generation of Irish wrestling; Katey Harvey when she joined Jordan Devlin during an interview segment to declare that she has arrived in English Pro Wrestling to shake things up. The fans didn't take too kindly to her words and that heat carries over to this week. She hits the ground running with the ultimate test as she goes one-on-one with reigning champion Viper. The belt is not at stake however a victory would be a great way to prove herself immediately. The champion gets a warm welcome from the audience but doesn't seem to want to take her opponent too seriously. The Vixen Of Violence uses her size and strength advantage to dominate the majority of the contest. She executes a Headbutt, a Cobra Clutch Slam and a Running Leg Drop for the first two count. Viper then attempts a Stinger Splash which her heel counterpart manages to avoid. As she staggers out, Harvey pulls off an Inverted DDT and a Standing Moonsault for a two count of her own. She tries to continue riding the wave of momentum with repeated stomps. Viper eventually gets to her feet to floor her with a Vertical Front Suplex. Harvey quickly scurries in to the corner holding her knee. It appears she hurt it as she hit the canvas. This debut outing could go terribly wrong. The champ backs away for a moment whilst the referee checks her over. As she does, Nikki Cross slides in to the ring and blasts her in the back of the head with a lead pipe. The Queen Of Chaos quickly exits the ring after delivering her parting shot and runs up the aisle. The debuting heel suddenly makes a miraculous recovery before nailing Viper with the Curb Stomp for the upset victory. The crowd can't quite believe it. In the mean time, Nikki Cross is watching from the stage with a sadistic smile clutching her weapon of choice. She will challenge Viper for the EPW British Women's Championship next week. Katey Harvey leaves the ring as soon as Viper begins to recover from the cheap shot. As she makes her exit, Viper slowly climbs to her feet clutching the back of her head in agony. She didn't see what went down until she looks up at the video screen to see the replay. The Vixen Of Violence will get her chance at revenge next week.

Alex Shane enters the ring once it is clear and he has been instructed to conduct an interview. Out walks Nick Aldis to a mixed reaction. The EPW British Atlas Champion was a fan favourite since his arrival in English Pro Wrestling however his actions over the past few weeks have brought up some questions that we will apparently have answered this evening. The National Treasure is happy to shake hands with the man interviewing him and even says what a pleasure it is to be here in Bolton to a luke warm reaction. He is clearly bothered that he didn't get a huge pop. Aldis declares that he will be the man climbing the ladder and winning the Battle For The Briefcase because he has proven time and time again that he is 'the true champion' of the locker room. Alex Shane brings up the topic on everyone's minds though; Drew Galloway. The two have been at odds ever since the controversial finish to their title match at EPW Live #110: The Scottish Supershow. Many believe that The Celtic Colossus deserves a rematch. The champion has been outspoken in saying he doesn't agree. He explains that Galloway has had his shot at the gold already and he did consider giving him another shot at the belt until his classless actions and lack of respect towards him since. The crowd call 'bull sh*t' on his claims. After Alex Shane acknowledges the reaction from the fans, Aldis tells them that they deserve a champion who conducts himself with class before calling Galloway a greasy thug from the streets of Scotland. Boos echo around the arena as Aldis brings up the way he dresses as just one example of why he is the model champion whereas his arch-enemy comes to work in a hooded top and jeans. 'Wish It Away' by Psyko Dalek blares across the speakers to signify the arrival of Drew Galloway. He has had enough and marches down the aisle. As he enters the ring, Alex Shane passes him a microphone. The Celtic Colossus gets in the face of his rival and tells him that he may wear the clothes that he wants and he may behave in the way that he wants however that doesn't mean that he would be any less of a champion than the man currently holding the belt. Apparently all the suit that Aldis is wearing means is that he is a stuck up fraud who walks around like he owns the place. Galloway has accepted the fact that he won't get another shot at the EPW British Atlas Championship but he will take great pleasure in beating him from pillar to post before winning the Battle For The Briefcase next week. The fans in Bolton are digging the fire under the heavyweight from Scotland. Aldis is all riled up. He throws his sunglasses on the floor, takes off his tie and rips off his blazer to motion for a brawl. They collide with closed fists in the ring. Alex Shane tries to break them up. The retired veteran needs back up though and down runs arena security to separate these two. Eventually Aldis grabs his title and walks to the backstage area whilst Galloway is held back by security seething. He cannot wait to get his hands on the cocky champion.

Tyler Bate vs. Bram (with Vicky Haskins)
After Moustache Mountain reunited at EPW Live #111, they made their intentions clear that they were coming right for the EPW British Tag Team Championships. The Sanguinary agreed to give them a shot but only if both members of the former champions could beat their enforcer Bram. Trent Seven managed to pick up the victory over the heavyweight from Chesterfield on last week's episode. This week Tyler Bate returns to action after a lengthy period out injured. This is not the ideal opponent to be tangling with fresh off an injury especially with Vicky Haskins in his corner. Bram has been known to pick off body parts when possible. The plucky babyface begins with some smart offence and pulls off a Rebound Lariat early. He follows up with a Rolling Wheel Kick, delivers a Running Knee Drop and goes to apply a Figure-Four Leg Lock. His opponent kicks him away. Bram downs him with a Back Body Drop on the rebound. The Chesterfield Plague locks on a Chinlock with a Bodyscissors as boos fly around the Bolton arena. The enforcer of The Sanguinary barks back at the fans who boo him even more. He continues to control the match executing a Spinning Sitout Jawbreaker and an Elbow Drop. As he attempts a Running Neckbreaker, it is countered in to a Back Slide pinfall for a one count. This gives Tyler Bate the leverage he needs to turn the tables with a Bop and Bang Sucker Punch which catches Bram off guard. He wows the crowd by lifting Bram up for the Airplane Spin transitioned in to a Fireman's Carry Slam. The Iron Master climbs the ropes with a Spiral Tap in mind. Vicky Haskins decides to get involved and holds on to Bate's foot as he reaches the ropes. This leads to the official ejecting her however the distraction gave Bram enough time to recover. He joins his opponent up on the ropes and sets up for a Leaping Piledriver. This could be lethal. The valiant face battles back using a mix of tremendous balance to escape the move. After shoving Bram down to the canvas, he drills him with a Gut Kick and nails the Tyler Driver '97. The crowd count along as the referee counts three. Tyler Bate wins. His hand is raised in victory but the winner's celebrations are cut short by the sore loser. Bram knocks his opponent down and begins to stomp on him. Trent Seven sprints down for the save. He unleashes several rights on Bram to try and fend him off. The enforcer of The Sanguinary fires back. Before Moustache Mountain can properly recover, Jimmy Havoc and Mark Haskins are down to make this a 3-on-2 attack. They eventually floor the #1 contenders with the belts and stand tall in the ring over them. The champions get the last laugh before the upcoming title bout next week and pose in the ring as we head to a break.

Jennifer Louise is standing by in the backstage area with an irate Zack Gibson. Liverpool's Number One has had enough of being made a fool out of and isn't going to let some yankee flash in the pan import walk over him. Earlier on the loud mouth heel was pinned by David Starr during a Six Man Tag Team Match. He says that David Starr can have as many nicknames as he likes but he will be dropped to the deck and be locked in the Shankley Gates when all is said and done. Gibson challenges Starr to a singles match when EPW rolls in to Manchester next week for EPW Live #115: Battle Lines. He promises that his fortunes will finally change next week because he has an ace up his sleeve that is ready to cause a lot of mayhem.

The C.C.K vs. Joe Hendry & El Ligero
The ongoing partnership between Joe Hendry and El Ligero has puzzled many as The Masked Sensation doesn't seem too enthusiastic by aligning himself with The Prestigious One but appears to be going along with it anyway. This has included targeting The C.C.K over the past few weeks since turning on them during a match three weeks ago. Last week Hendry officially announced Ligero as the newest recruit of The Corporate Entourage which the fans didn't like one bit. Kid Lykos is back from injury after a couple of weeks sidelined with an injury sustained at the hands of one of his opponents; El Ligero. The match only goes on for a couple of minutes until suddenly 'Bruiserweight' by CFO$ is heard over the speakers to the loudest pop of the night. Pete Dunne charges down with the sledgehammer. The reigning champion knocks down Joe Hendry and El Ligero to cheers. He then knocks down Brookes and Lykos who were just in the way however the fans don't seem too fussed. Dunne's face lights up when more members of The Corporate Entourage begin to pour down the aisle. Each member of William Regal's security team are the next to feel the heavy hand of the sledgehammer. Robbie Brookside goes down first. Dave Taylor is sent flying to ringside after being drilled in the skull. Fit Finlay is then blasted in both the gut and the spine. Nathan Cruz slides in behind Dunne with a plan. The Prima Donna snatches the weapon from the clutches of the champion. As he charges at him with evil intentions, Dunne ducks and kicks him between the legs. He then drops Cruz with the Bitter End before picking up the sledgehammer. The champion turns to see the #1 contender go to slide in the ring. Dunne lifts his trademark weapon, swings it downwards and just misses his target. Sha Samuels managed to slide back out just in time with a look of fear on his face. The sledgehammer actually dented the ring and the realisation sets in that it could have been his skull. Our crazy champion has cleaned house and the crowd are eating it up. The show closes with Samuels backing up the ramp looking fearful as Pete Dunne stands tall with his sledgehammer over his shoulder. The title will be at stake next week.

Is that two weeks in a row TK Cooper wins and survives the day? Nice.

Easy day at the office for the Sha-man. He's ready for Dunne.

Lots happening in the six-man tag, but nothing wrong with that.

Can't say I'm familiar with Katey Harvey, but picking up a win against Viper (in a non-title situation), is one way to make a statement, even if Nikki Cross picked up an assist on the play.

More build up for the battle of the brief case match. It seemed pretty standard, but that's not a bad thing.

Not to take away from those in the main, but can Dunne go a week without using the hammer? It's a great equalizer, no doubts there, but it's starting to feel like he feels naked without it. With that being said though, hoping Dunne and Sha have a good title fight
