Scene One: Outside Wheeler's Department Store. A delightful, sweet-natured and somewhat ditzy woman is looking at some of the fancy dresses that often line the windows. The woman is named Christina Burkhardt, and until recently, was a teacher at Brockton Harpers Falls High School. Her teaching position had been eliminated and she was looking for work. Sheila Watkins comes up to the window.

SHEILA: Some lovely designs, aren't they?
CHRISTINA: Yes, they are, and so intricate the designs.
SHEILA: You noticed?
CHRISTINA: That is the mark of ANY good designer. Their personal touch if you will.
SHEILA: That is impressive. I have seen you around town, but I haven't been able to talk to you. I am Sheila Harper Watkins.
CHRISTINA: Very nice to meet you, Sheila, my name is Christina Burkhardt.
SHEILA: I had heard that you had lost your job at the school.
CHRISTINA: Budget cutbacks, no surprise.
SHEILA: I see you have an eye for design. And as a former art teacher, I am sure you have a lot to offer. Have you ever done fashion design?
CHRISTINA: I took those as a part of my art training, and have done some sketches. I can bring them over.
SHEILA: Very good, then. Meet me at Sheila Watkins Designs over on Falls Boulevard, and I will take a look at them.
CHRISTINA (sheepishly): I have to admit, I always carry them with me.
SHEILA: Let's go then!

(Sheila and Christina go to the Design House.)

Scene Two: The Silver Skillet restaurant on Attleboro Avenue, not far from the Harper Estate. Michael is meeting with his cousin, Caitlin.

MICHAEL: I am glad you are back in town. How are the others?
CAITLIN: Day by day. Roger is living in Boston, and he is happy. He found a guy that loves him, and he loves with all his heart. Kip is still in West Palm Beach, and is happy. Marcia Williamson comes to West Palm quite often. Mainly to see Alicia's grave. We buried her down there, you know.
MICHAEL: I wish I had been down there to see you more.
CAITLIN: I understand. With Roger living in Boston, it's quite hard to get away a lot of the time.
MICHAEL: You know I am getting remarried to Wendy Schraederman, right?
CAITLIN: I do.
MICHAEL: Well, she called me yesterday, and she told me that Erica was harassing her.
CAITLIN: Really?
MICHAEL: Yeah, and Wendy was kind of scared.
CAITLIN: What did she say?
MICHAEL: She threatened her with harassment unless she left me and broke off the engagement.
CAITLIN: I see, Erica is throwing weight around that she doesn't have, as usual!
MICHAEL: I don't want this wedding ruined.
CAITLIN: Don't worry Mike. Erica won't ruin your wedding. She won't, not if I have anything to say about it, and I do!
(Caitlin smiles at her cousin)
MICHAEL: Thanks, cousin. I have to get going.
CAITLIN: Where are you going?
MICHAEL: Logan Airport. Wendy's sister is coming in today.
CAITLIN: Ok, I will see you later.

(Caitlin smiles, and pays the bill)

Scene Three: The Atkinson mansion in Boston's Back bay area. Jane and Cliff are enjoying tea on their back patio.

JANE: You heard about Stephanie?
CLIFF: Yes, I did. She had dinner with Rosemary and her family in Brockton.
JANE: She is really trying to get her life in order, after all she did to us.
CLIFF: I got a call from Craig Atchley as well. Stephanie talked with him and admitted all she did. Craig and his former wife won't be back together, but he talked with her, and told her what happened. His former wife forgave Stephanie.
JANE: Stephanie is really trying to clean up her act.
CLIFF: Yes, she is. I have to say that I really think Stephanie has changed for the better, I am very impressed by it.
JANE: Do you think you and her will get back together?
CLIFF: We talked about that, and Stephanie ruled it out.
JANE: SHE ruled it out?
CLIFF: Yes, I think she realized that I hadn't had enough time to mourn Diane, and she told me that she is going to remain single for a while.
JANE: She will find someone. If her change of heart is any indication, then she will have plenty of suitors.
CLIFF: I wish her well; and she wished me well too.

(Cliff and Jane sip their tea, and toast Stephanie)

Scene Four: Logan Airport in Boston. Late afternoon. Wendy Schraederman and Eric Whitfield, her son, are waiting for Wendy's sister, Vivienne VanCortlandt. After being widowed, and hearing her husband's will being read, which split his assets evenly between his sons, Lance and Anthony and her; as well as leaving trust funds for her son, Shane Owens and his grandson, Chip Herington, Vivienne sold the mansion in Smythewood, and is preparing to move to Brockton.

ERIC: Did they say when Aunt Viv is coming?
WENDY: I called the airlines, and they said at about 5:45.
ERIC: And that is about that time, is it not?
WENDY: I heard nothing about delays.
ERIC: I don't think we have to worry.
(Wendy see Vivienne coming down the hallway towards them)
WENDY: Vivienne!
VIVIENNE: Hello, hello, everyone!
(Vivienne hugs her sister, and her nephew)
ERIC: Is that all you brought?
VIVIENNE: I am having everything else moved to the Pritchard place.
WENDY: That wasn't really necessary.
VIVIENNE: I am sure Michael wouldn't want me to move in.
(Enter Michael, who had come with Wendy after his meeting with Caitlin)
MICHAEL: Nonsense, Vivienne. The Harper mansion is plenty big.
VIVIENNE: If you are sure, that is.
MICHAEL: I am positive.
VIVIENNE: Ok, I will contact the realtors and tell them that I have changed my mind.
(The group goes to baggage claim)
WENDY: Who is handling the sale of the mansion?
VIVIENNE: Lance and Anthony are handling it on the Smythewood end.
ERIC: How about Shane and Chip?
VIVIENNE: Shane is enjoying life in Los Angeles; and Chip is studying at Villanova.
MICHAEL: I will make arrangements for your things to be moved to the mansion.

(Michael, Eric, Wendy and Vivienne go to the waiting limo for the drive back to the Harper mansion)

Scene Five: The Atchley Mansion. The next morning. Hannah is sitting in the sun room, drinking in some of the lovely summer sun. Craig's maid, Lisette, brings her some breakfast.

LISETTE: Your breakfast, Ms. Harper.
HANNAH: Thank you, Lisette.
LISETTE: Mrs. Buxley had a bottle made up for Maggie, if you would like to feed her.
HANNAH: I would like that, thanks.
(Hannah picks up her daughter)
LISETTE: She is gorgeous, miss.
HANNAH: Yes, she is.
LISETTE: Something is bothering you, Miss?
HANNAH: I got a nasty letter.
LISETTE: From whom?
HANNAH: The baby's father.
LISETTE: Who is it?
HANNAH: Nigel Percival-Bennett.
LISETTE: Oh, him! I hate him!
HANNAH: You KNOW him?
LISETTE: Before I moved here to work for the Atchleys, I worked for the Bennetts, his family. He treated me like roughshod!
HANNAH: He impregnated me while I lived in London.
LISETTE: The beast!
HANNAH: Now, he's in jail, for killing my cousin, trying to break up my brother and his spouse; and trying to take Maggie from me.
LISETTE: Well, I will make sure Mr. Atchley knows what he is trying to do.
HANNAH: Thank you.
(Lisette goes out of the sun room. She sees Craig)
LISETTE: Mr. Atchley, that Nigel character send Hannah a nasty letter.
CRAIG: He did, did he?
LISETTE: Yes.
CRAIG: Well, well, we will have to stop him, won't we?

(Craig is determined to keep Hannah safe.)

(Voice of Ryan McPartlin: "Harpers Falls: A New Beginning will continue in a moment, here on ONtv.")

Scene Six: The Country Club. It is early evening. It still serves as the borough's country club, and it is one of the most prestigious places in the whole of Brockton. Michael; Wendy and Vivienne are enjoying dinner. Eric went with Dylan, Alex, Mark and Rosemary to Craig Atchley's mansion to have dinner with him and Hannah.

MICHAEL: It's wonderful how Eric is bonding with Dylan and Rosemary and their spouses.
WENDY: He really likes them. He thinks the world of them.
VIVIENNE: It is so great to see them again.
MICHAEL: I am sorry to have heard about James.
VIVIENNE: James was killed doing what he does best. Helping business. It's hard, but I have a new family to be with. Not to diminish Lance and Anthony, but it's nice to be around new people.
WENDY: Oh, oh.
VIVIENNE: What?
MICHAEL: What is it, Wendy?
WENDY: It's who just came in.
MICHAEL: Oh no! It's Erica!
VIVIENNE: Who is Erica?
WENDY: You'll see.

(Erica saunters over, a smug look on her face)

Scene Seven: Sheila Watkins Designs. Sheila is looking over Christina's work.

SHEILA: Very impressive.
CHRISTINA: I know it wasn't one of my best. But I always had a chance.
SHEILA: Why did you work as a teacher all that time?
CHRISTINA: I had to have something to fall back on.
SHEILA: Well, since your job was eliminated, I am in need of a new designer. We have plenty of orders pouring in.
CHRISTINA: That would be good, and it would be steady work.
SHEILA: Yes, it will be, and I will pay better than you got as a teacher.
CHRISTINA: That is even BETTER!
SHEILA: You start tomorrow.
CHRISTINA: That is wonderful.
SHEILA: See you tomorrow.
CHRISTINA: I can't wait.
(Sheila smiles. The phone rings.)
SHEILA: Sheila Watkins Designs, Sheila Watkins speaking.
MICHAEL: What are you doing right now, Sheila?
SHEILA: I just hired a new designer.
MICHAEL: Have you had any dinner?
SHEILA: No, just some soup and sandwiches I called in from the Silver Kettle.
MICHAEL: Can you meet me at the Country Club.
SHEILA: Sure, I am on my way there.

(Sheila gives some instructions to her assistant, and she grabs her coat and heads to the Country club)

Scene Eight: The Atkinson Home.

LIANE: I saw something on Stephanie in the Globe this morning.
CLIFF: What is it?
LIANE: She has become the chairperson of the WalkAThon here in Boston.
CLIFF: That should aim her energies in a positive direction.
LIANE: She has really become something positive.
CLIFF: I agree, Liane.
LIANE: I am worried about one thing, though, Dad.
CLIFF: Has it anything to do with Stephanie?
LIANE: No, she's clean. It's something to do with a letter I got this morning.
CLIFF: From who?
LIANE: One Nigel Percival-Bennett.
CLIFF: Why does that name sound familiar?
LIANE: I don't know, but it also included a note by another person.
CLIFF: Who?
LIANE: Erica Harper.
CLIFF: She is trouble.

(Cliff looks at the letter.)

Scene Nine: The Country Club. Sheila has joined her family as Erica saunters over.

SHEILA: What is going on here?
MICHAEL: Erica is here.
WENDY: She doesn't get it.
VIVIENNE: Let me handle this one, Sis.
(Erica gets to the table)
ERICA: Well, well, Michael. Having dinner with your new family! Forgetting your own children!
MICHAEL: That is a damned lie, Erica, and you well know it.
ERICA: Then where are they?
SHEILA: I don't think that is your concern, Erica!
ERICA: It certainly is.
VIVIENNE: I think you should watch your mouth, lady.
ERICA: Who the hell are you?
VIVIENNE: I am Wendy's sister, Vivienne.
ERICA: Well, well, well, ANOTHER outsider!
MICHAEL: Stop it, Erica!
ERICA: No, I won't! You two are outsiders! The only person who is entitled to be a Harper is Nigel!
SHEILA: Will you SHUT UP about Nigel Percival-Bennett?! The man is a fool! A blithering idiot!
ERICA: He is a prime person! A quality person! He is the perfect man for Hannah to marry!
SHEILA: That is hogwash!
VIVIENNE: Please, Ms. Watkins, allow me. I have my own words to say to this wicked woman!
ERICA: Nothing you say means ANYTHING to me!
VIVIENNE: You know, I don't really like you, lady. I think you are a snob, a cruel and coldhearted woman; and someone devoid of any compassion. Michael has told me about you and I didn't know what to believe. Now I see and you are worse than even Michael said. I am moving to this town, whether you like it or not. If I even FIND that you have tried to demolish my sister and her new family, who is now MY family as well, I will use every vestige of power at my disposal to make you suffer. I will definitely fight you, and I guarantee you, you won't like the results of it!

(Erica stormed off)

Scene Ten: Outside of the Country Club, a few minutes later. Erica is furious. She had been stymied again.

ERICA: I will make you pay, Michael. I will ruin this wedding for you, and you know I will do that!
(Enter another woman! It is Caitlin!)
CAITLIN: You want a fight, Erica? You will be demolished.
ERICA: Bitch! Did your sniveling mother send you!
CAITLIN: What I am here for, doesn't matter anything to me! I am not going to let you hurt Michael! You will pay and pay dearly for what you have done! And I am the one who will stop you!

(Erica looks in hatred at Caitlin who looks at her with even more hatred. The scene fades)

(Voice of Emily Symons: "On the next Harpers Falls: A New Beginning..."

ADAM (to Aaron): Welcome to the Beanpot! Our new cafe.

VIVIENNE (to Wendy): Erica seems determined, but she won't get us.

CRAIG (to Hannah): I know we don't know one another, as we need to, but I can't see my life without you.
