SCENE ONE: THE JOINT

Hillary and Steve are behind the bar.

HILLARY
I can’t believe the amount of people that are outside!

STEVE
We promoted this place to death, it’s definitely a good thing to have that amount of people already.

HILLARY
I am just so shocked that this is happening for us. You know so many things have happened to us. I think this along with Evan is finally showing that things are going our way.

STEVE
I surely do love it when things go our way.

Steve and Hillary share a kiss. Angelique walks out of the stock room and rolls her eyes.

ANGELIQUE
We open in like two minutes and you two can’t keep your hands off each other? God, it feels like I’m working with high schoolers all over again!

STEVE
Hey, we can’t help it that we’re happy.

HILLARY
Yeah, with all these things going right for us, I don’t think that anything can actually go wrong.

ANGELIQUE
Well, are you ready to open the floodgates? I mean we can wait until you two are done making out of course.

STEVE
We’re done… for now. Go ahead and open the doors!

ANGELIQUE
Alright, let’s go!

Angelique walks over to the door and unlocks it. After opening the doors a group of people flood into the Joint. The scene fades to the opening credits.

SCENE TWO: THE JOINT

George is sitting at a booth by himself. He is drinking a scotch and is on his phone. Suddenly, someone walks up to his booth and he takes his eyes off his phone. He notices a woman standing in front of him.

GEORGE
Hello, can I help you?

WOMAN
I was hoping you could. You see, this place is just so packed I couldn’t get a seat and I see that you’re just sitting here alone. Would you mind if I join you?

GEORGE
I don’t see the harm in it. I’m George Heenan it’s nice to meet you.

WOMAN
Likewise, I’m Carlotta Santiago. It’s a pleasure.

Carlotta sits down across from George.

GEORGE
So you must be new to Gordon Bay.

CARLOTTA
Why do you say that?

GEORGE
Because I know a new face when I see one, so you definitely have to be.

CARLOTTA
You have a great eye, I just moved in not too long ago.

GEORGE
Really, what’s the reason, business or pleasure?

CARLOTTA
A little bit of both actually, I just left my former job and I heard there were great prospects in business around these parts.

GEORGE
As someone who owns and operates a fortune 500 company in Gordon Bay, I definitely know that the prospects are very favorable.

CARLOTTA
Oh, you run a fortune 500? I’ve worked at a few, I’ve been told I’m a great worker.

GEORGE
Oh really, what kind of fortune 500’s have you worked for?

CARLOTTA
Well I held down a job at the Paris branch of Manning Corp. I ran their cosmetics division under the whole fresh face of glamour campaign.

GEORGE
You know it’s funny. Sarah Ashton, the original fresh face of glamour for the US branch of that program lives here in Gordon Bay.

CARLOTTA
Really? I knew her sister Natalya a bit. She did come visit Paris once or twice, stern business woman.

GEORGE
Very stubborn. Well you know, Heenan is getting into the cosmetics realm. I’d love to have someone that’s savvy in the cosmetics world to bounce ideas off of.

CARLOTTA
Well, you know I’m available, I’ve been working with cosmetics for so long everything has literally become of a second nature to me about the subject.

GEORGE
Well the project is still on the ground floor. I’m looking at getting some input from some of the young people of Gordon Bay.

CARLOTTA
The young women and men here are very fashionable so I think it would be an awesome idea, look it was great talk you but I need to run.

GEORGE
Oh, do you have to leave? I was really enjoying this conversation.

CARLOTTA
I’m sure you’ll see me around, look, here’s my card…

Carlotta reaches into her purse and hands George a business card.

CARLOTTA
Make sure that you call me when you need, though I’m sure that you’ll be seeing me around.

Carlotta gets up and walks away.

SCENE THREE: THE JOINT

Across the room, Sarah and Adam are sitting at a booth making out. Jordan and Ryan walk over to them.

JORDAN
Sarah, who in the hell…

Adam and Sarah stop kissing and look at Jordan and Ryan.

RYAN
Adam is that you? Since when have you been back in town?

ADAM
Ryan, it’s good to see you, I’ve been back in town for like two weeks now. Jordan didn’t tell you? We rub elbows almost every day at work.

JORDAN
I’m sorry it must have slipped my mind. I didn’t think that you and Adam were ever that close so I didn’t’ mention it.

RYAN
We weren’t really close but I just thought that it would be nice to know a friend of my family was back in town.

SARAH
Well, you know guys this place is pretty packed right now, would you two care to join us? I mean we obviously have room.

JORDAN
It’s okay, I really don’t feel like sitting.

RYAN
What? No, we are going to sit. I don’t think it’s right for a woman to stand up in a club.

JORDAN
Fine….

Jordan and Ryan sit across from Sarah and Adam.

RYAN
So Adam, why are you back? I thought you had an assignment in Los Angeles?

ADAM
I did but it ended quicker than we thought it would and I didn’t have to worry about all the confidentiality issues, so they let me come back to Gordon Bay.

RYAN
Sarah, I bet that you’re thrilled with that.

SARAH
I am, it’s great having the man of my dreams back in my life.

JORDAN
Oh I’m sure it is…

SARAH
Jordan, you don’t look so good are you okay? I mean we can go to be the bathroom if you’d like.

JORDAN
No need, I’m perfectly fine. I’m just a little cold that’s all.
RYAN
You’re cold with the amount of people they have in here? I’m sweating bullets.

JORDAN
Well, I guess my body is just out of wack, how about we go outside early and get a great spot for the fireworks.

RYAN
That’s not for another hour though.

JORDAN
I know but I really love fireworks and I want the best seat in the house to see them.

RYAN
Okay, well that’s fine. It was nice seeing you two.

SARAH
Same.

ADAM
I’ll keep in touch Ryan, I’m sure we’ll run into each other.

RYAN
Alright, you ready?

JORDAN
Yeah.

Jordan and Ryan get up and leave.

SCENE FOUR: THE JOINT

Hillary is at the bar talking to Angelique.

HILLARY
So, is there anything that you need me to do?

ANGELIQUE
No, I’m fine. I can handle the bar, I’ve been doing this for years now.

HILLARY
Okay, well you know I’ll be around all night if you need anything.

ANGELIQUE
Where’s Steve I haven’t seen him since we opened.

HILLARY
He’s in the office working on some of the financial stuff. You know he’s amazing with numbers.
ANGELIQUE
Well, I’m glad that someone in this operation is going to be good with numbers. You don’t want me punching them.

Suddenly Heather walks over to the two ladies.

HEATHER
Ladies…

Hillary looks at Heather with disdain.

HILLARY
What in the hell are you doing here?

HEATHER
I came to see this place, I have to say that it’s beautiful.

HILLARY
You aren’t welcomed here, just like your husband.

HEATHER
Well, I haven’t done anything to you Hillary, why would you just not want me here?

HILLARY
Because you are Quinn’s wife, because of that you aren’t allowed.

HEATHER
That’s almost downright discriminatory. You know what, I don’t need your little bar Hillary. I just came to show support but if you can’t accept that I hope this place crashes and burns.

HILLARY
Oh, like you did for the custody battle?

Heather looks at Hillary with disgust.

HEATHER
You didn’t just go there. Look, I know that you have custody of Evan,, but you have to remember I’m in his life also.

HILLARY
I never said that you weren’t but, do you really think that he wants anything to do with you now?

HEATHER
Evan loves me, just because you are back in his life won’t make him feel any different about me.

HILLARY
You’re right, but Quinn definitely aids in the process. Now, why don’t you go play wife to your sociopath of a husband?
Heather looks at Hillary in disgust before storming off.

ANGELIQUE
Hill, damn I wasn’t expecting all of that.

HILLARY
You mess with the bull, you get the horns.

SCENE FIVE: OUTSIDE THE JOINT

Krista and Tanner are walking out onto the boardwalk.

TANNER
You know, it’s really beautiful out tonight. You now that I love spending all the time in the world with you.

KRISTA
The seven or so months we’ve been together have been wonderful haven’t they?

TANNER
I don’t think I would have spent them any other way.

KRISTA
Well you know, I think we have a lot more happy times together.

TANNER
Yes, and there is only one way I want to spend that time.

KRISTA
Oh yeah, what is it?

Tanner gets down to one bended knee. He reaches into his pocket and takes out a jewelry box.

TANNER
Krista Logan, will you be my wife.

Krista is shocked.

KRISTA
Are you kidding me? Yes! A thousand times yes!

Tanner gets up and places the ring on Krista’s finger. The two kiss passionately. Steve walks out of the joint and notices the two and walks over.

STEVE
You two seem very passionate tonight.

KRISTA
You have no idea Steve.

STEVE
Well what’s going on, you two won the lottery?

TANNER
No I proposed, and she accepted.

STEVE
Well congratulations! You two should really enjoy the fireworks, if you’ll excuse me I have to go throw some trash.

KRISTA
Have a great night Steve.

STEVE
Same to both of you.

SCENE SEVEN: VARIOUS LOCATIONS

“It's my last big breath what you want me to do?”

The scene opens up inside the Joint. George is finishing off a glass of scotch, he pulls out his phone and looks at a picture of April. He smiles as he wonders about his wanting to move April away from Gordon Bay. He sighs before putting his phone down. He then grabs the business card he was giving by Carlotta.

“'Til your heart starts beating for that somebody new”

The scene switches over to a hotel room. Carlotta walks out of the bathroom in a bathrobe. She takes a seat in an armchair that is next to the big window overlooking the boardwalk. She grabs her phone that is on the table and starts looking through it. She scrolls until she gets to a text message. She opens it. The text message reads “The time to move in is now, in a matter of months that enterprise will be ours.” She puts her phone down and grabs the glass of wine that is on the table and takes a sip as the fireworks begin.

“It's a wicked game that you're making me play
Where I crawl back home as you're walking away”

The scene starts inside the Joint. Sarah and Adam are still sitting at their booth. Adam has taken Sarah’s hand and looks at her with a smile. Sarah smiles back before she leans over and places her head on Adam’s shoulder. The scene shifts outside, Ryan and Jordan are watching the fireworks. Jordan has a head turned towards the Joint as an image of Adam comes into her mind. Ryan, looks up at the sky at the fireworks, where he sees a Trisha in the sky.

“'Cause it's beautiful people like you
Who get whatever they want
And it's beautiful people like you
Who suck the life right outta my heart”

Hillary is sitting at the bar with Angelique. They both have a glass of champagne in their hands. They both smile at each other as they toast. The scene shifts over to the Smalls Apartment. Heather walks in and throws her purse on the sofa. She then takes a seat and looks on the coffee table, a picture of Evan and herself. She grabs the picture and begins to cry. She holds it close to her chest before the scene shifts.

“And it's beautiful people like you”

Tanner and Krista are hugging as they are looking at the fireworks. Tanner looks up at the sky with a smile as Krista stares at her engagement ring. Krista kisses him as the scene shifts once more.

“'Cause nobody else could be nearly as cruel as you”

Steve tosses the trash into the dumpster behind the Joint. As the fireworks go off he looks up at them with a smile. Suddenly he is hit behind the head and falls to the ground.

“Nobody else could be nearly as cruel as you
As you”

Hillary can be heard screaming as the scene fades to the end credits.

I LOVED the montage at the end! That was a brilliant way to do that!

The entire episode I was wondering why everyone was going to fireworks and then the red/white/blue lyrics font made me realize this was the Fourth of July episode! haha

I really liked the tension in the Sarah/Adam/Jordan/Ryan scene!

When George and Carlotta met I knew that there was more to her story. I think she will be a good romantic pairing for him until the truth is revealed of course.

Good holiday episode!

Great 4th of July episode and the fact that it was centered around the Joint opening, definitely makes sense

And you could tell just by the history Jordan has with both Sarah and Adam and Ryan having history with Adam too that it made for a great scene because of not just the awkwardness but also because of the underlining tension there

But as for Carlotta why do I have the feeling that she is not at all who or what she may seem and that she must be connected to the mystery person
