Anyone watching this new primetime soap?

I'm LOVING it! And I have not loved anything on the Fox since the days of 90210, Melrose Place and The O.C.

Thoughts?

I have not watched it. I just have so much to watch already but have heard nothing but good things. Might binge watch this summer on Hulu or something!

Very encouraging signs. Ratings actually went up in week two, and Fox renewed the show for a second season.

I'd like to see how much of this is post-Idol viewer retention, which we'll know in the fall. Either way, Fox has a hit.

It grew from Idol. I'd say the majority is natural. Idol went down when Empire went up last week.

It is encouraging that Idol can still launch hits though. Fox desperately needs that to happen next season again as well.

@Erik: You really need to catch up in the summer! It's awesome!

Really soapy!

Can't wait to hear you thoughts!

form me it's a bit TOO BLACK... No offense or anything but its an all black cast besides the wife of the eldest son which is just as perfectly written how black people see our white girls..

i was shocked with episode 1 when lucious grabbed his son and how how he put him in the trash... most shocking moment ever of shows in years for me

@Zack I don't really see it as "too black". The show is portraying the hip hop industry, which is a mainly African American music genre. They've done a really good job incorporating other races into the show thus far, and I'm sure diversity will be added with the upcoming second season.

What are you talking about it? It's written the same way it would be if the girl was black...

I never do get what people mean when they say its "it's too black" or "a real black soap".

Anyways, I am just impressed in how much I LOVE this show, and usually I don't love shows until the end of the first season or Second season, but this show has been on FIRE since the first episode and I have been hooked and obsessed with it! Classic Soapy Goodness! And Taranji and Terrance are everything! But I LOVE the cast in general, between the stories, the beats as pacing, the awesome music that got me moving and dancing (yep, it's that good), I have to say I haven't had this much fun with a show since like forever! And I haven't had much like for FOX since 24, so it was AWESOME to see Empire be a BONAFIDE breakout hit, and YES it finally reached 5.1 demo, 13 million viewers! Talk about Success!
