Episode 1

WELCOME TO LAKETOWN
POPULATION: 500

Scene 1: Darkened Road.

The scene opens with a woman dressed in all white and red and white Adidas sneakers jogging on a dark and cold evening when someone in all black and a white mask grabs the woman from behind. The woman struggles and fights until she's subdued with chloroform over the mouth. The mystery person drags the woman to their van and closes the door as the scene fades to black.

Scene 2: Laketown Forest.

The next morning, an older female is walking her german shephard through the forest near the road when the dog picks up on something and starts to drag its' owner towards it. The dog barks and when the woman sees what the dog found, she gasps in horror and immediately calls 911 for assistance.

Scene 3: Callum residence.

At home, Sarah is sitting at the table when her husband, John, brings over some breakfast and places it in front of her and she smiles. He sits down in the seat beside her.

Sarah takes a bite of her food.

Sarah: What do you want to do since it's your day off?

John smiles.

John: Whatever you want to do. I'm leaving it in your hands.

John's cell phone rings and it's his police commissioner number from the department.

John: Commissioner, What's going on?

Commissioner Powell: I know this suppose to be your day off, but we received a call about a possible homicide after a dead body was found in the forest. I need you and Det. Reed to meet the medical examiner at the crime scene.

John: Alright. I'll contact Alex right away and we'll head over.

John hangs up and turns to his wife

John: I'm sorry, baby, but--

Sarah: It's fine and I understand. Your job takes priority. I'll think of a way for you to make up to me.

John: I'm sure you will.

John gives his wife a kiss before he leaves for the day. Sarah kisses him back.

Scene 4: Reed residence.

Alex and Erin are in bed together relaxing when Alex receives a call from his partner.

Alex: Hey. I wasn't expecting a call from you on my day off so, it must be important.

John: The commissioner just called me and said there's a dead body in the forest and we need to go the crime scene.

Alex: I'll get ready and meet you there.

Alex gets out of bed and pulls his police uniform out the closet and starts to get dressed. Erin looks at her husband angrily.

Erin: This was suppose to be our day together but instead you neglect your wife and don't give me that bullshit excuse that your job is more important than me!

Alex: For christ sakes, Erin! I'm NOT neglecting you. Your the most important person in my whole life but my job takes priority because the people in this town depend on us to keep them safe.

Alex shakes his head in frustration as he leaves.

Erin gets out of bed and walks towards the dresser and opens it. She pulls out a pill bottle but it's empty.

Erin: Shit!

Erin takes her phone and makes a call.

Erin: Hey, It's me. I need some more of what you have. I'm all out. Can we meet in our usual spot?

Episode 2

Scene 1: Callum residence.

The scene opens with Sarah in the kitchen washing the dishes after breakfast when she sees Erin hastily leaving her home which is suspicious to her because she has seen Erin leave before but during all times during the day and night. Sarah grabs her coat and locks the door behind her. She decides to follow Erin.

CUT TO: Sarah follows Erin to the local park and witnesses her and a man talking.

Man: Did you bring the money?

Erin hands the money to him.

Man: It was a pleasure doing business with you.

The man goes into his backpack and pulls out a brown paper bag and hands it to her and leaves.

Sarah decides to confront Erin about what she saw.

Scene 2: Laketown Forest.

Det. John Callum and Det. Alex Reed arrive at the crime scene and witness something scene -- a topless woman is on the ground in leaves drenched in her blood. The woman has mutilated breasts and face along with multiple stab wounds and a slashed throat. Alex almost throws up.

David Han: I hope you didn't eat before you decide to come.

John laughs

John: I ate but I have a stronger stomach for this kind of thing.

Alex: So, are you able to tell us what we have?

David Han: Not without examining the body more thoroughly but I can tell you with some certainty that this woman bled out from her stab wounds and that her throat being cut was overkill.

Det. Reed notices something about the woman's breasts and how they've been cut.

Alex: Do you think the killer might have removed something?

David Han: Yes. It was possible that breast implants were removed but I won't know until I run her dental records and check her medical history for recent surgeries. Come by my office later tonight and I should have more answers for you.

Scene 3: Laketown park.

Sarah approaches Erin in the park to ascertain what's going on with her. Erin sees her but isn't pleased and they end up having it out.

Erin: Where you following me?

Sarah: Yes, but I'm only concerned about you.

Erin snaps at her

Erin: You should just learn to mind your own business!

Sarah is concerned for her friend.

Sarah: I know you want me to but I can't. Your leaving during all times of the day and night and doing god knows what and now I see you here paying a man money for what I assume are drugs. It's the only logical conclusion I can come up with.

Erin: What I do with my life doesn't concern you!

Sarah grabs the brown paper bag from Erin and opens the bag to find a bottle filled with pills.

Sarah: Oh, my god. I was right. What are you doing with these?

Erin is furious and blows up at Sarah

Give me back my fucking bag! Don't you ever go snooping through my personal belongings again!

It's obvious to me that your strung out because you haven't had your next fix yet and that's why your acting this way but me and your friends and family can help you get the treatment you need.

Erin: Leave me alone! I don't need any of your fucking help!

Scene 4: Medical examiner's office.

Det. John Callum and Det. Alex Reed arrive at the medical examiner's office later that evening. A naked body is lying on the metal slab as the medical examiner is in office looking over his findings before he presents them. The medical comes out to meet the detectives.

John: Doctor, do you have something more concrete for us?

David Han: I have some new information that we weren't privy to earlier. Based on dental records, the victim was 21 years old and I can tell you that this attack was not sexual in nature. There was no sexual trauma. It seemed more personal. Furthermore, Det. Reed's theory about the breast implants was correct. The girl had plastic surgery a couple of years ago.

John: Is there anything else?

David Han: No. Everything I told you at the crime scene about how she died was correct. I double and triple checked everything to make sure what I was telling you was right. She bled out because of the multiple stab wounds.

The detectives leave the office as the scene fades to black.

I loved this! I loved that both detectives had completely different reactions from their spouses about being called on their day off.

This reminded me a lot of The Killing, but the good part of The Killing before it turned to shit.
