TOPtv sat down to talk to Jacques about what 2017 holds for EOF.

TT: Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do the interview.
J: No problem. I am glad to be doing the interview and to give fans some insight to what I have planned.

TT: You decided to air EOF five times a week and will become a daily soap instead of seasons with 15 episodes each. Why this decision?
J: I have so much story to tell and you can only do so much and it is difficult to do everything and sometimes characters gets lost. One example is Kristen. I had some great stories for her but she was a bit on the backburner and it took almost the whole season for her to grief Tony’s death. There were so much going on that some stories were rushed. This is why. I think with a daily soap you can even things a bit.

TT: Let’s talk about those season two cliffhangers. Questions that are probably on fans lips are, who kidnapped RJ, will Wyatt walk in on Ivy and Josh, is Deacon dead, what is the deal with Cody and what is up with Michelle?
J: All those questions will be answered as time goes on. I don’t want to give away anything. All I can say is that there will be some twists and turns.

TT: You announced some casting news. One that stands out is the replacement of Jennifer Finnegan as Bridget Forrester with Christie Clark. You also hired Marcy Walker to replace Heidi Klum as Michelle.
J: When I asked Jennifer to reprise the role of Bridget Forrester she said that she will do it for only a short while as she has other projects. She told me when we started the season that this will be her last. I had two actresses in mind Alison Sweeney or Christie Clark. Ali Sweeney was busy and couldn’t commit to a soap yet. She said that she will be available at some stage and would love to be on the soap at a later stage. Christie Clark accepted instantly when I called her. I am excited for what is planned for the character. She is essential and that is why I had to recast. Marcy Walker is a phenomenal actress and I wanted her. She will bring new dynamic to the character and sadly had to replace Klum.
TT: Any returns of old characters?
J: Yes. I am so excited and will exclusively announce it here that Lauren Koslow will be reprising her role as Margo Lynley. There is a bit of history with the character that I want to explore and with Clarke back this is a good opportunity to bring Margo back. Also remember that she had a thing for Eric and Ridge so there is a lot of story to tell. She will be back around March.

TT: What are the plans for 2017?
J: I am planning a huge story for the patriarch of the show Eric Forrester. I am very excited about this. It will have something to do with his past before Stephanie. The story will kick off March/April. We will start our serial killer storyline during May sweeps. We want to do something different than the traditional serial killer storylines. We may decide to reveal the killer’s identity after the first victim. I think it will be interesting for the fans to see how this person manipulate the people around him/her. It is not a definite yet how we will do the story. It is just an idea for now. Fans can get ready for Bill’s life to be turned upside down later this year. We have something interesting planned for Hope that will change her life forever. We have some great things planned for Quinn as well.

TT: Thank you. Just a reminder to fans that EOF will start on Monday, 06 February 2017.

FEBRUARY SWEEPS

Revenge is a dish best served cold and Leah will be serving Bridget plates full. Leah’s revenge could end Bridget’s career. Keith is caught in the middle.

RJ’s kidnapping is bringing out the worst in Ridge and Caroline gets the short end of the stick. Rick will definitely take advantage of it. There is more to RJ’s kidnapping than meets the eye. RJ’s girlfriend doesn’t make a good first impression.

Steve is ready for the next step in their relationship but is Thomas ready. Thomas faces some challenges with his sexuality.

Steffy and Lydia starts to figure things out with her mental situation meanwhile there is something about Jackson that Steffy feels drawn to.

Hope starts to fear Cody as his attitude starts to change.

Clarke thinks it is time for Kristen to know that he is still in love with her and the real reason he is back in LA.

Ivy’s life gets more complicated and Wyatt gets closer in finding out who was responsible for the hit and run.

Well Jacques this sounds like some exciting stuff! How far do you write ahead to be able to do a daily episode?

A few years back when I started Temptation back in 2008/09 I piled up on episodes and had about a month's worth of episodes. I had to because I had another soap Heat plus other shows. I had more time on my hands and could do it but as time went on my life also got a bit hectic. I am lucky if I could write a week in advance. Sometimes I wrote an episode on the day I posted it. Not a good idea because you get so far behind. Currently I have about two weeks worth of episodes written. Hopefully I can hold that momentum and get more in advance.

Two weeks worth is impressive! I wish I could say the same but I think I'm going to give it the old college try.
