Okay, I'm sorry, I lied a little bit. I think in theory stopping piracy and such online is good except for one thing: How on Earth am I supposed to get movies for free? |

Actually, it has a good basis. Internet terrorism and what not. Only problem is, it inhibits freedom. I don't see it passing. And I want this one to be a referendum, not just something in congress.

It's actually not going to inhibit normal internet activity. Those who believe in piracy will piss themselves when it does pass, but it isn't going to shut down Youtube/ FB etc. like certain lobbyists are claiming. FrostWire, LimeWire, PirateBay, all that shit is going away I'd imagine though. |

Dude, it will shut down Youtube and Facebook. Someone posts a song, no permission, BAM, SOPA & PIPA come in and say "Fuck this shit, your site is hosting illegal content, get the fuck off my American Internet" Youtube, same thing. |

Yeah shit, they can shut down those sites. The Post article I read said they (certain Senators, like Oregon's) were trying to make changes that would limit damages - 4 year old Kaylee providing covers of Adele and Beddingfield is fine. Someone posting Bruno Mars new single with lyrics isn't. The government would probably need an entire task force just to monitor all the incoming videos, and I must say, that job would be the shit. Mainly though, its stopping sites like uTorrent, Pirate Bay, etc. Unless you pirate movies and games, you're fine. And while it ends those things, I've never once heard of someone pirating movies and getting arrested. |

uTorrent isn't a pirate site. It's a site to download a program, that they themselves made. Bam, blocking that ain't covered. Oh wait, it is. Because this is just blatant corporate censorship. Here's an example - Universal Media Group downed MegaUpload. That's all good and dandy for now. No, several artists came together to make a song supporting it, and UMG had Youtube take the video down for illegal copyright stuff. Guess fucking what? None of UMG's copyrights were violated, and they had no right to do so, yet they fucking did. |

I'm not going to be affected by this bill here across the pond, but I'm all for it. I personally refuse to illegally download/distribute stuff, and I see this as a big step forward in protecting copyrights and even people's jobs! |

Actually Meso, England is next. When 'Murka, the biggest freedom lover in the world allows corporate censorship, everyone else thinks it'll be a great idea. |

I'm fairly certain about 10 different countries already enforce a policy like this. Also, uTorrent is a pirate site, don't shit yourself. |

1. China, Saudi Arabia, etc. 2. Caleb, you look like such an idiot, and I'm being polite. uTorrent is a site to download a single program. There's not a torrent file on there. Go look. No wait, you won't, because going there means you'll look back and think "I was a pirate, I must commit suicide." Trust me, the guy who does pirate, that uTorrent is not a pirating site. It's a site about a program about pirating, but not a pirate site. A pirate site is like KickAssTorrents or PirateBay, but not uTorrent. |

You're splitting hairs dude. It downloads a program that lets you download pirated content. Seriously, I'm not a fucking moron, "IT" may not be a pirate site, but you know exactly what I meant. It's a site that promotes pirating and the downloading of pirated material. |

But what about content that's meant to be sent over P2P systems such as uTorrent, hmm? Yeah, screw your logic. |

uTorrent is meant to download torrents from sites like the pirate bay. Whether some of it is actually legal or not doesn't matter. This isn't an argument about pirating itself - utorrent promotes pirating the same way LimeWire and FrostWire do. The fuck is your problem admitting that? |
