If I have a Vanquishing Light and a Lightsworn Monster on the field and my opponent activates Vayu - The Emblem of Honor to remove from play Synchro Material Monsters to Summon Armed Wing, Could I activate Vanquishing Light thus tributing MY Lightsworn Monster to pay the activation cost and negate the summon of Armed Wing?

Vanquishing Light negates the Summon of a Monster and I was just wondering if it would work. We had a question at Locals yesterday about it and I was just wondering. We have judges that either dont know what they are talking about or bend rulings to their benefit.

Off the top of my head i want to say no, it doesn't work. I believe you would have to negate/stop vayu's effect in order to stop the summon.

I could very much be wrong tho. I'm very rusty on my rulings.

Any monster that is special summoned through the effect of another card can only be negated by cards that specifically mention that they negate the effect of a card that special summons a monster, ie. Royal Oppression, Solemn Warning

A card that only negates the summon of a monster can only work against Inherent Special Summons, ie. Judgment Dragon, Cyber Dragon, Synchro Summons.
