This years edition of FIFA 2009, developed by EA Sports, is set to for the first time feature a 10v10 online mode where each online player controls their own individual player.

Commenting on how they managed to work their way all the way up to 10v10, as well as why they omitted Goalkeepers from the playable options, David Rutter, line produced of both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions commented; "We've managed to get 10 v 10 this year online through strength of will and technological nous. [But] we want to make sure the control system for controlling goalkeepers is compelling enough before putting it in, because no game has done it particularly well, if it's even been in there."

A feature set to only feature in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, other improvements EA are quick to point out on are better collision Physics between players, tighter animations and better first touch mechanics. Due for Release later this year FIFA 2009 looks set to raise the bar for Football online, whether it can achieve this high ambitions will be revealed come the games release.

Really interesting, shame PES is still struggling for 1v1, really hope they get 2v2 Online at least working, have always thought teamwork in a football games such as PES / FIFA makes it a lot more interesting and realistic.

Clan matches would be so awesome, we might actually be alright, we have a lot of good PES players here.

It's not Christmas!
Haha that would be a right laugh. Hopefully it's shaping up nicely.

Konami should seriously consider getting Western developers to handle the online portion of the game as they've shown that they really can't do it.

Come, come, nuclear bomb...
Did that 5v5 patch for this years FIFA ever come out? I'm not buying it this year though, unless it gets rave reviews. It's too slow compared to PES for me.

You dont like clowns!?
It was a while since I played any of the two games, and especially online.
I remembered it to be incredibly laggy, which makes it crap.

And tbh, I'm getting bored of buying FIFA/PES year after year, since there's rarely nothing new in the games, they're just fucking with us.
