We will be performing server maintenance and rolling out a new patch on September 9th at 5am PDT, 1200 GMT. The SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation game servers will be unavailable during the maintenance. The server maintenance is not expected to last longer than 1 1/2 hours.

SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta 1.10 Patch

* Adds support for European EULAs.
* Adds support for dedicated servers located in Europe and Australia.
* Addresses a number of stability and late joining issues.
* Reduce the volume of the proximity chat by 50%.

The server maintenance and patch are not meant to address all issues. We will have more updates to both the server and client in the future.

Regards,
SOCOM Confrontation Online Team

New topic in the hope we get a lot of these patches!

If you go on to Socom and you can't connect, and it suggests deleting the Beta and re-downloading or something...don't bother, everyone is getting the problem apparently.

We are happy to announce that the eagerly anticipated SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Public Beta 1.30 Patch will be released on Thursday, September 18th, at 12:00 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST/KST).

The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 patch addresses the following issues:

Abnormally long network synchronization issues when some users in a game have a poor network connection. This issue causes 4-7 minute (or longer) load times when late joining a game.
Fixed an issue where respawn game late joiners were sometimes stuck in spectator mode and could not respawn into the game.
Removed the latency detection network test which was causing some users with poor network connections to receive the network latency icon (red X).
Fixed an issue where clients with different client versions (patches) could play together in a default medley game.
Fixed an issue where if the session master leaves the game, late joiners could not "green up" and late join into the game.
Fixed corrupt characters in the European and Japanese EULAs and Server News.
Fixed many join game issues and made joining a game quicker. We are still optimizing this.
Fixed an issue where if you add and then remove someone from your block list they were still unable to send you a message.
Improved accuracy while moving (based on user feedback). Partial implementation. More improvements to come.
Reduced the encumbrance penalty (based on user feedback).
Changed the default round time for Medley games from 8 minutes to 6 minutes (based on user feedback).
We are still looking into the following issues and they will be addressed in a future patch:

Some late joiners have really bad framerate (5fps) and crash if they exit the game from the start menu. This happens at approximately 1/50 frequency.
Some late joiners will get stuck on the round complete screen. This is timing dependent.
Some users will crash in-game. This happens at approximately 1/100 frequency (games).
Some late joiners get stuck on the loading screen, loading into a game. This happens at approximately 1/100 frequency.
Green or corrupted particles appear for RPG, C4 and AT4 explosions. This happens at approximately 1/4 frequency (users).
Further tuning and tweaking based on user feedback.
Once the patch is released, we will continue to keep an eye out for any additional issues which may arise.

Regards,
SOCOM: Confrontation Online Team

We are happy to announce that the SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta 1.40 Patch will be released on Friday, September 26th, at 1200 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST).

The SOCOM Confrontation 1.40 patch addresses the following issues:

* Fixed an issue which was causing an abnormally large number of simultaneous kills.
* Optimized the Armory so that selecting weapons, attachments and general menu navigation are much faster.
* Fixed another issue where you could get stuck in spectator cam when late joining a game.
* Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have very low framerate and crash when exiting a game.
* Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have no audio.
* Statistics improvements. Statistics are now being tracked at the team level and not the player level. This will ensure stats are tracked for dropped and late joining players.
* Further improved load times for late joiners.
* Fixed several stability issues.

The following changes were made based on user feedback:

* Added new burst firing accuracy tuning when moving. You are now more accurate for the initial burst while moving but accuracy deteriorates as you continue to fire more shots.
* Scopes are now accurate.
* The select screen scoreboard is now exited by pressing the select button.
* Improved tiebreaker rules.
* New HUD animation to indicate when you are reloading.
* Crosshairs now turn grey when your magazine is empty.

We are actively looking into the following issues which are known to exist in the 1.40 patch. These issues will be fixed in a future update.

* The select screen scoreboard, round complete and game complete screens appear blank.
* Infrequently, some users loose controller functionality for a couple of seconds.

Please note, this patch also adds game logic to limit the number of people who can late join a game to 5 at a time. If more than 5 people attempt to late join the game you receive a "Game Full" error even though there are still slots in the game. This will be improved in a future update.

Also note, the network latency detection has been added back in. We believe that we have now worked out most of the issues with this. Please report in the SOCOM Confrontation PlayStation.com forums if you are seeing the "red X" disconnect icon under normal gameplay conditions.

Regards,
SOCOM Confrontation Online Team

This is what gives me such good hopes for this Socom compared to the old ones. Things can be tuned and patched in infinite...
Would Socom 3/CA been on a console with a HD it could probably be pretty bug free by now.

Great news.

Well the patch has broken the scoreboard apparently, so now you can't see any names at all.

It'll be sorted in the next patch, which presumably will be at least a week away.

From EU PS forums

'Great news, SOCOMeers! The European online multiplayer demo of SOCOM: Confrontation on PLAYSTATION 3 has been extended and is now expected to run until November 2008!'

Which probably means our version has been delayed until november, although you can just download from store on 16th, or like me, buy from movietyme.com

We are happy to announce that the SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta 1.50

Patch will be released on Monday, October 6th, at 1200 GMT/UTC (8am EDT,

5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST).

The SOCOM Confrontation 1.50 patch addresses the following issues:

Fixed an issue where some players were invisible and invincible.

Fixed an issue where the scoreboard, round complete and game complete screens where not displaying player names.

Fixed an issue where players would not see any indication that they were

receiving damage until they were killed.

Fixed numerous stability issues.

Fixed an issue where the latency detection was detecting abnormal latency and freezing player input but the red X was not being displayed.

Further improved the latency detection.

Fixed numerous framerate hitches during gameplay.

Fixed an issue where the round does not end after the satchel is detonated.

Fixed an issue where the satchel would teleport when being disarmed.

Fixed an issue where the game host could not kill VIPs.

Fixed many issues with Private Games and game invites.

Fixed an issue where the controller preset would change unintentionally.

Improvements in displaying stats in the leaderboards.

Fixed issues with sending and revoking clan invites.

Fixed many lag pedal exploits.

Enabled Motion Sensor Auto-Detect Horizon option by default. This should help a lot of players who are having problems with the SixAxis lean when not holding the controller perfectly straight. For players looking for increased precision, this option should be turned off and the sensitivity turned up.

The main purpose of this patch is to address a number of issues with the game. We are still reading player feedback in the forums and will be making future changes to the game based on that feedback.

Please note, the network latency detection was functioning in the last patch but the red X icon was not displaying. This caused users to freeze with no indication as to why they were freezing. We've fixed this issue and the network latency icon is displaying once again. Please report in the SOCOM Confrontation PlayStation.com forums if you are seeing the "red X" disconnect icon under normal gameplay conditions.

http://socom.us.playstation.com/post/2008/11/SOCOM-Confrontation-State-of-the-Union.aspx

1.30 patch will be out for the real game soon, added some new features:

Quote:

New Features

* SOCOM Awards and PSN Trophies
* DTS audio support
* Add HUD and scoreboard opacity
* Scoreboard invocation improvements (tap select for persistent scoreboard, hold for temporary)
* Spectator mode HUD turns off after brief interval

* Spectator camera look now respects user invert on/off setting
* Spectator camera pan now consistent with in game camera
* Add dive-to-prone
* Add lean control to d-pad

* Gear items stackable
* Extend post-round period
* Restrict RPGs and grenade launchers in ranked rooms
* Increase prone movement speed
* Adding support for lefty control configuration (analog stick functions swapped)
* Increase frag grenade effectiveness
* Prevent incorrect reload interruptions

Just even little changes like the scoreboard controls show that they are listening, that was one of the major gripes for me on the BETA. Lets hope they sort out the servers by the time it gets here.
