Who else has got this? What do you think?

I have to say, this game is massive. I played it for about 3 hours today and hardly did a thing, but didn't get bored. It can sometimes seem a bit overwhelming, as in there is so much to do, but the setting is so well thought out, and it's keeping me thinking of what to do next. It's also just the feeling of isolation it gives to you as well, much like (I imagine) a nuclear war would have on people.

It's basically Oblivion with guns, which is no bad thing. It's made me want to get Oblivion back as well. Bethesda do know how to make an excellent RPG.

One small gripe I have is you can collect so many things you have to keep travelling back and forth to places otherwise you get overencumbered, and after you sell quite a bit of stuff, the main person with money at the start has no money left to buy stuff off you, so you're stuck with loads of junk and nobody to buy it off you. Unless I just haven't noticed anyone else to sell stuff to?

Never played Oblivion, i like the look of this a lot. It seems so big though, that im better off getting it next year when they are less games out.

Is it like Mass Effect? I found the controls ridiculously complex on that, and a real nightmare to get in to.

It is huge, I think I'm just gonna be taking it slowly. Might be a good idea getting it next year.

It's on the same scale as Mass Effect, but the controls are definitely not as bad. Could not stand that.

Be warned guys, once you finish the main quest, you cannot continue your game, so do everything else first =]

know what you mean about it being huge though lew, certainly is, just I think they really screwed it up not letting you carry on, I figured i'd do the story first, then everything else... of course, I can't now =/ ah well, started an evil character.

Not played Far Cry but if you want something that'll last you a while, get this. Saying that, I just completed one of the biggest sidequests in the game by using my speech to convince a woman it wasn't worth writing a book. XD

Me and all the guys i live with have both Fallout and Farcry on PC mate and Fallout is much better.

Farcry is pretty good but wont keep you busy for too long. Gets boring and if youve played the old ones or Crysis then its nothing new. Fallout on the other hand is a whole different ball game to anything youre used to and its fantastic. Definately go with that one.

Completed the main story of this yesterday. Feel I missed out on some parts though as I had such a high speech skill I managed to convince people to go against their will. XD You can tell the cutscenes at the end are spliced depending on the 3 different actions you take right at the end. Seems like all that has come before it means bugger all. But still an epic game, one of the best this year.

Might start an evil character soon, and do some of the side missions I didn't do in my first playthrough.

Had a bash for a couple of hours. Game looks stunning, there's a great atmosphere around the wasteland.

Think i buggered up the Atomic Bomb Quest, spoke to the sheriff who wants me to defuse it, then spoke to the bad guy who wants me to set it off, then spoke to the sheriff, who then went to arrest the bad guy, sheriff got shot in the back.

Now i can't set it off, cos the bad guy hates me and the sheriff is dead, so i can't defuse. No achievement for Jimmeh!

XD Can't you just go up to the bomb and try to set it off?

Who's the sheriff now then?

There's the option to activate, but the Sheriff took the bomb thing off me before going to hunt the bad guy down. It says something about 'Explosion, Level 25 needed or something, blah blah'.

Not sure i can bring myself to blow up the whole town for no reason other than an achievement anyway.

How do you de-activate it?

:P

Well I had two options, when I did it, didn't speak to the sheriff though. Not sure why it would have taken the defuse option though. If you can't defuse it you can just speak to some druggie guy and he can give you 'mentats' which raise your levels in shiz.

Go on, blow it up, I wanna know what happens when you do. :P

------

Just reading the wiki on it, and it says you should still have the option to disarm it:

Quote:

If you ratted out Mister Burke and allowed (by action or inaction) Lucas Simms to die, you can still complete this quest and disarm the bomb. Since the sheriff is dead, his son Harden Simms will give you your reward.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Power_of_the_Atom

Apparently if you disarm it, some of Mister Burke's guys randomly try to attack you, but can't say I ever had that. =/

And oh yeah, just a word of warning, save lots, using lots of different game saves, in case you need to go back. :P
