The world's human population has been ravaged by a killer virus that turns healthy people into shuffling, flesh-eating zombies. You are one of the rare survivors yet to succumb to the illness - and it's up to you to fight off wave after wave of undead monsters as they attack in their hundreds.

Dead Nation is a survival effort on a truly global sclale: every zombie killed by every player in their own country will help to stop the virus spreading worldwide!

Download this trailer for a glimpse of Dead Nation, a ghoulishly thrilling PlayStation Network third person shooter.

It's important to recognize Housemarque's pedigree, as Dead Nation really does build off a lot of Stardust's constructs -- if you could somehow picture Super Stardust HD and replace the spacecraft with a guy carrying a gun and your enemies with zombies, you might have a decent idea how it plays. You move with the left stick and aim with the right, while the trigger buttons handle your weapon firing, allowing you to easily move around the environments while mowing down zombies coming at you from all directions. Heck, there's even an evade move with the L2, just like in Stardust, that gives temporary invincibility when you're hopelessly surrounded.

One of the things you'll immediately notice while playing is just how sharp and detailed everything looks -- Housemarque told me of some new technology that they're using that I didn't quite understand, all that I know is that the game looks darn good. Lighting effects, shadows, and especially explosions really stand out. Another thing is how many zombies will be on screen at once -- hundreds (while fighting tons of zombies on top of a building I could see countless more on the streets below).

As you'd expect, the game offers you all sorts of weapons to use against the zombies -- your standard gun has (surprise) unlimited ammo, while others require you to be aware of your supply. Bombs are, of course, also a prerequisite. There's a fair amount of interactivity with environments, too -- for example, you can shoot cars and have them explode to take out lots of surrounding zombies.

You do know this is a PSN game not a bluRay release.

Developers made starbust HD!

The graphic are great for a small game just look at the explosions.
