Not having the ability to change the acceleration of the camera movement is pretty shit. You can change the sensitivity, but it's not enough really. It just feels like your either too slow, to the point where you can't track fast enough against a sprinting enemy or too fast, to the point where you're trying to aim at a guy, but constantly over shoot your mark.

Is that a way to make guns more equal or... "realistic"?
Does the SMG's move slower than the sub machine guns?

I don't think the movement speed differentiates between weapons, but each guns handles a little differently due to varying recoil etc.

Trying to get my hands on the PC beta to see if that has different options.

Played a few hours today...and first impressions were good.

I like the high bullet damage..gives a more realistic feel...and going prone is great.

Recoil more realistic too...and harder to take down things at range.

The map isn't the greatest, but i ain't complaining.

No doubt there gonna be some awesome maps on release.

Live together, die alone.
I love the map. Think it's really well designed, quite hard to attack on, but not impossible.

Feels slightly more arcadey than the last one, and I'm not too impressed with the graphics, hopefully they've been dumbed down for the beta. Don't think it'll end up being a CoD beater, but quite annoyed they're both gonna be out near enough the same time as I want to get some time in on both of them.

Had a couple of games and I'm disappointed tbh it doesn't feel anything like the last few battlefields and the graphics and textures were pretty awful, the guns don't seem to have any weight to them and sound like pea shooters what happened to the great sound effects?

The map is quite good in terms of design but let down by the looks really. A nice moment where I smashed the shop window and layed in it popping people, I love the fact you can go prone now as well and it looks smart when running to prone.

I'll put a few more hours in yet and see how it goes just a bit shocked by its lack of shine atm.

Had the whole evening with the game, and well... I like it.
Graphics was worse than I had imagined for the console version, but if it's true above it might be better on the retail.
The level of destruction seems to be more like MoH than Bad Company.

I put it up on the home cinema system, and it was loud, really loud... But I'm not sure if it was any better than the Bad companies? Could the sound have been 'dumbed down' on the beta/demo as well? Didn't feel as loud and impressive with the echoes and all that, as the old games, which I think is completely in a class of it's own.

Think the map is a perfect demo map, ain't it? Starts off in open space, down in close quarters, and ends as a city map.

Had quite a few bugs also...
At times I wasn't able to aim down sight. Had to do a quick change to pistol, and back, and then it worked.
One time I couldn't shoot either, tried swtiching etc, but R1 just would work until I died and spawned again.
Also at a few points, the guns sounds seemed like it had switched with another weapon (I think this happened after switching class and respawning)... The SMG sounded like it had a silencers, then I reloaded and the next clip sounded like it should... also happened with the M4 a few times, sounded muffled, and then switched when I reloaded.

I'm not sure about the damage yet, could be lag/delay, but regular damage seems fine, but headshots seem random, and more yet it seem like you have to put 2-3 in the head before the go down.

It looks gorgeous on PC, really high res, great particle and smoke effects and no jaggies. Does the PS3 version have AA? It doesn't look like it.

Its the opposite on ps3 the particles and smoke especially looks really bad, makes me feel like a want to wipe my tv screen!

I do feel the sound is noy as good as the BC games.

I have experienced those issues as well Jez in terms of the glitches.

Graphics must be a downgrade, it would be a disaster if the game looked worse than BFBC2!

Had a few games and i agree with Jez, the destruction definately seems rained back. Maybe when they are vehicles it will look more destroyed. I do like the idea of having a map without vehicles tho, nice change of pace.

Slowly getting used to the game, still not sure about the health and power of guns, takes a bit of skill from the game. I'm really fussy on this subject though, i hate mega health and i hate low. SOCOM and CoD have it just about right imo.

Feeling a little more positive after a few more games.

Did anyone play yesterday... and like me have lots of problems?

I noticed this earlier, in a game or two on friday-saturday, but yesterday I played about 2-3 hours, and was d/c a couple of times, and I tried to reconnect a few times to find a better room, but; Me and other people kept sinking through the ground in the park.I was getting shot by people from under ground, and loads of times I was running, went to prone, and couldn't get back up, just started to slowly sink through the ground... It was like a bad dream.

And then I actually dreamt about it last night (true). =-/

Here's some changes they already listed;

yeah the falling thru the floor is insane at times....was ok today tho.

I been playing recon with a up-45 i think it's called. Getting a beacon down behind the enemy or to the side.

starting to like the map now i know how to play it better.

Overall...it is indeed a ruff beast of a beta.

New blog update, good to hear;
http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/

Quote:

The Open Beta is a true Beta
The Battlefield 3 Open Beta is based on software that is more than one month old. We need to test the new back end dedicated server structure we’ve built. Not only have we built a new game engine, but an entirely new back end system so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of dedicated servers on all platforms...

Quote:

The biggest reason for running the Open Beta is to stress test our servers and back end. Already, we are seeing 6 times the number of simultaneous players in the Battlefield 3 Open Beta compared to the Beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! The fact that Battlefield 3 is clearly our biggest game launch ever by a magnitude of 6 makes it doubly important to test everything...

...The final game will look, play and sound better than the Open Beta. You have helped making sure of that.

Had a go at this again last night after my last experience and I actually enjoyed it, yes the graphics, sound and glitches are rubbih... but if what Dice are saying is to be true then the full release will be fine.
