Battlefield 4 looking amazing again. A new gamemode as well, there is a bomb which randomly appears on the map and then you have to transport it the enemy base and destroy, sounds a bit like Demo in SOCOM.

And a Premium trailer details some of the DLC which will be available.

Some interesting questions answered for IGN

Really like this question and answer:

Quote:

[Skiptomahloo and others] How do you guys feel about the rent-a-server model? There’s quite a bit of chatter on IGN about admin abuse and players feeling as though they’ve been punished for skill as opposed to any kind of infraction.

Lars Gustavsson: We’ve definitely heard the community and we experience it ourselves. What we’ve done is we’ve introduced a new system where basically we have pre-defined scales, so if you’re within certain boundaries it will be an official server, which means that people who use – for example – quick match, will be slotted into this. You will be guaranteed a good Battlefield experience. You’ll know what you’re getting into. If you start tweaking around with the settings a little more, it will go down to being ranked which means that you’ll still get your persistence and everything, but some settings might be a bit different from what you’re used to. And then [finally] you can go crazy and change all of the settings, but then it will go down to unranked, so we give you as an admin the freedom, but also to take responsibility for the end user who wants to have a good experience.

So we definitely listened to them. And also we’ve been revisiting how we can ensure that your skill or your XP can be better balanced from game mode to level, so it’s not like some levels are so much more popular than others, just because of a higher XP ratio.

I thought BF3 was really a bit ruined by the rent-a-server system and how difficult it was to find official servers where you could have standard settings.

Yeah, the search system was kind of messed up.
It should've been easy to just put a tick box for official servers, or make them show on the list in other colors, and/or forbid rented servers to imitate the DICE servers.

I agree with you Jimmy I thought the rent-a-server sort of ruined the game and killed it for me (when I played it on the 360). Glad to see they're trying to do something for BF4.

What's everyones thoughts on the demo so far?
I'm thinking I'll get it on PS4 only. On PS3 it just feel like a BF3 DLC...
It's not bad, but think I'll just add the money on the PS4 account.

Played loads this weekend and kept running out of ammo, and just realised today that you're mag dumping a la Socom. You lose the rounds in your disgarded mag when you reload.

Only played a little bit. Beta seemed a bit rough on this generation, but to be fair it lacks the HD texture pack. Me and Surf were finding it really hard to find a game together as well.

I don't think that skyscraper going down will ever get old, when the alarm goes off and you have to jump out is just epic.

Been watching some videos of the PC Beta, looks so good, really hope we can get a squad together more often than not. They've balanced the classes a fair bit, think i'll have more motivation to switch classes, i think i went with Assault 100% of the time on BF3. Think its going to be really important to have a squad with different classes.

Looks like the other modes might be more worthwhile this time as well. Obliteration looks good and Domination as well, hope its less of a cluster-fuck than BF3 tho.

I was thinking of finally getting a Battlefield, as always got COD only. But with the PS4 coming out and me not getting it yet, don't think it's worth getting on PS3.

Ive had a little go on the beta and think I'll wait until the PS4 to pick it up. Was thinking of doing trade option in GAME again if they did tbe £40 trade towards next version, but changed my mind.

I think the beta hasn't been too bad but had a few connection issues abd crashes

Won't be getting I don't think. Bf3 was a massive letdown for me. Don't get me wrong there where some amazing moments online but it just didn't grab me like bfbc2.
I think it might be the amount and size of the dlc it felt like I hardly scratched the surface of the game as I just don't have the gaming time or head anymore.
That said depending on what it looks like on ps4 I might pick it up.

Im hoping this is the solution for me. (I havent been able to access the china rising servers).
Im currently downloading a 3.7gb China Rising pack, that is not the same DLC as I previously downloaded and installed.

https://help.ea.com/article/troubleshooting-steps-for-china-rising-downloading-and-installation-issues

Will let u know if it works.

Has anyone paid much attention to Field Upgrades? Only just looked it up:

Quote:

Battlefield 4 Field Upgrades are squad-based in-game unlocks which can be earned and used during a match. Field upgrades in Battlefield 4 are squad based, and the better the squad performs, the more powerful upgrades they get. There are several different paths that players can chose when it comes to Battlefield 4 Field Upgrades, from offensive, to defensive, to support, etc. Each player can chose a different patch, depending on his play style. If a squad is eliminated in the match (everyone is dead at the same time), some of the progress will be lost.

So when it says you're the last man standing, its a good idea to stay alive! I thought they only applied to your player, so i've just been running defensive on everything, but it might be a good idea if we ran different ones i guess, as it applies to the squad.

Apparently there is a Field Upgrade bar somewhere on screen?! And it builds up the more squad actions you do.

Impressed with the BF4 campaign, far better than Ghosts. Ghosts starts off interesting, then turns into the usual CoD bum stuff.

Looks amazing and the set pieces were really good. And quite challenging at times even on normal, the checkpoints are quite spaced out.

Only gripes were random enemies being behind you and you'd just be completely fucked, and the friendly AI is pretty dumb as i said before.

Yeah I just started looking at it the other day as well.
I got a "Last man standing" medal, which made me curious to what it actually was.

It's a small bar on the HUD just above where the other squad members names are, and you can see the progress there.

It's suppose to make your squad work better together, but I guess 95% of the players have no idea how it works, me included until last week.

Yeah, been paying attention to it now. It seems as though your field upgrade only applies to you as well, not like BF3 where you could get ones which apply to the entire squad.

Another tip which i didn't realise until yesterday, you can apply your 50% and 25% XP Boosts when you join a server and on the 'Options' menu hit Square to apply one you got from a Battlepack. I believe it runs for an hour of game time.

Have been running loads of those, every time you open a battlepack there's usually a boost in there.

The tricky part is to use the better ones (have one 100% boost) before you're on a roll.

A tip on weapons... But assuming you might've figured it out already.
Guns with burst modes are usually really good in burst mode compared to full auto(especially AKU-12 and the AEK).
That's because of a little change they did from BF3.
- Every gun has a value for the recoil which affects how much it climbs for every shot.
- But there is also a first shot multiplier for every gun, which makes the first shot have higher recoil than the others. This value differs quite a lot, which is why some guns are better than other when you tap shot.

The big difference in BF4 is that when you switch to burst mode, that "First" shot multiplier applies to the third shot in the burst (some guns have 2-round burst).
So if you fire 3 rounds in full auto, the first shot will have a heavy recoil, and the 2nd and third shot will be slightly off.
But if you fire 3 shots in burst mode, all three shots will have normal recoil, and only after the third shot will the recoil multiplier kick in.

Also, the AKU-12 has a better rate of fire (750 rpm) in burst mode compared to auto (680 rpm).
